Days had passed since the incident, and once she returned to her room, Selena hadn't come out. Her nightmares consumed her like they once did. Before her first love showed her how to overcome them. But he was dead and the things he said weren't helping. It had been so long since she had been consumed by her nightmares. By their touches. By their snickers and glares. She balled even closer together. Her tears ran down her face.
Everyone but Alastor came to visit her and make sure she was okay. They all told her time heals all wounds. But if you remain busy, the longer it takes the wounds to heal. Or so she added in her mind. She would simply stare out the window. Remembering her assailants licking her. Everywhere. Before they got on to their awful task.
It seemed Selena had finally drifted into a calm blissful sleep. It was at this time that Alastor came to visit his friend. If he hadn't destroyed that. He sat next to her before deciding she needed to be tucked in. He held her while his shadows worked on the sheets and blankets. For whatever reason, he didn't want to put her down once their task was done. No, he wanted to hold her. Especially after she snuggled into his shoulder and began to purr in her sleep. It made his heart strings tense at the adorable sight. Satan, he had quite a lot to beg for. Her forgiveness mostly. He wanted to make her have peace of mind at the hotel. She was always so busy. And yet she always seemed to relax here at the end of her day. How could he have fucked up so badly?
He set her down and pulled the sheets around her. He mimicked her and his mother's actions for he had never done this before. He stared at her for a moment. He pulled out a sheet of paper from his coat pocket and began writing with a fountain pen he had conjured. He left it at her bedside and left.
When Selena awoke some hours later after the most blissful sleep she had had in days, she found a letter sitting on her bedside table. She opened it and began to read:
My dearest friend,
You weren't in a proper sleeping position when I came by so I tucked you in as you had for me. Turns out: you purr in your sleep.
I stopped by to apologize for my behavior several nights ago. I know now that my fears were ungrounded. I also know that whatever caused me to lick you has led to your current nightmares. Husker told me that an apology for that won't be enough, but please know I am overwhelmingly apologetic. I never had a friend and rarely experienced emotions beyond my anger and pride and hunger. Since you have entered my life, it has become all too complicated.
I know an excuse is unacceptable, but I really do not know what to do with my newfound emotions. So please have patience with me. I have been told communication is important in all relationships so please communicate with me. Whether it be to correct a behavior or enforce one.
For you and you alone, treat me like a tiny alligator. Enforce my good behavior like you want and punish my bad. I'll only allow you to do this.
Please remain my friend.
Alastor
His handwriting was neat and elegant. She felt extreme sincerity in his letter and felt the urge to forgive him. A baby alligator. How cute! She'd be sure to. She got up and placed the letter in her bosom and headed to Angel's room.
Once she was let in, she shared the letter with him. They squealed at the sincerity and made a plan for him to redeem himself.
