Hurting You, Killing Me
HUTCH: I see the pain in your eyes every day. You try to hide it, but I know you too well. I've been to some of the physical therapy sessions. You push so hard. Things we've taken for granted – like walking across a room or bending over to pick up something – are now a struggle for you. You say the muscle cramps are a sign you're healing. I seem to just stand by helplessly and watch as you go down this road of recovery. I know it's hurting you, but it's killing me to see you this way.
STARSKY: I see the pain in your eyes every day. I wish I could get that look of guilt and helplessness off your face. I'm trying so hard to keep it together. The therapist says I'm doing great but that sometimes I push too hard. I just want to get out of here, get things back to the way they were. You'll never know what it means to me to have you standing by me as I recover. But your eyes tell me what you won't. I know it's hurting you, but it's killing me to see you this way.
