Upon awakening, Selena was no longer concerned for the souls that needed to be redeemed. She glided down the stairs. Upon seeing Selena, the hotel staff flocked to her. "Where were you this morning? Alastor needed your help! Are you okay? Are you feeling well?" The cacophony of questions did nothing to her ears. Demanding silence, Selena raised her hand. Those who were speaking lost their voice.
"These lost souls. Bring them to the lobby. I wish to meet with them." The voice that came from Selena's mouth was not her own. Charlie recognized the voice right away.
"Neana!" Charlie bowed quickly. "We will."
Everyone was utterly shocked. They were in the divine being's presence. "Selena is resting. For now. Now introduce yourselves to me." Each did as the goddess asked. All but Alastor. When it came to his turn he simply smirked.
"I am Alastor."
"Give me more as the others have. Explain your relationship with her to me." Neana insisted.
"I will not."
"You dare defy me?"
"I dare." It was his only response followed by a laugh track.
"She prays for you most frequently. I see why." Neana turned her back to the audacious demon. It got an eyebrow raise from Alastor. He, in truth, was rebelling because she possessed his beloved's body. He did not find that a good way to make first impressions. Now that he knew for a fact that she existed, he cannot say he was pleased with her appearance. She was acting all mighty, and it was really pissing him off. "Your soul has hardly changed." That only ticked him off more. What was that supposed to mean?
Everyone gathered in the lobby as per Neana's orders. Once everyone was settled in, Neana signaled for silence. "You may recognize this body. But I should warn you. The one who usually possesses it is resting. Now I am Neana, Goddess of Duty, and your fast track to redemption into my High Heaven. Given your permission. I would like to know if any heaven will do for you or if it must belong to the God you know and used to serve." She gave a moment. When the unanimous quiet spoke for her, she knew. They cared not. They just wanted true freedom. Their souls resonated with the yearning.
"I will allow ten people immediate entry into my High Heaven today. The rest of you will have to work a little harder to be redeemed. However, unlike your previous God, I have no intentions of abandoning you. I will guide you, test you, and pass you myself. Follow the young princess and my priestess's recommendations and entry will be a breeze. However, struggling is to be expected. If you work hard and your aim is true, I may redeem you regardless of your place in your redemption plan. Now today six of you are here in Hell for pre-marital sex. It is not a true sin in my domain. Two are here for their sexuality. Also not a sin in my realm. However, the other two are manslaughter. Their conditions have been weighed and measured and have been found to be an accident. Truly no true intent of murder was intentioned." Selena's body moved forward and tapped ten people on the forehead. They vanished before the crowds' eyes. In their places were balls of light, Selena–Neana– opened a portal in front of them; the lights passed through. One gentleman tried to touch the portal but found himself unable to cross as the balls of light had. "When you are truly repentant, you can cross the threshold." Selena began to walk away from the crowd. "I will return to collect in person next time." A mist parted from Selena's body; she crashed towards the floor, but Alastor caught her before she fell. The mist entered the portal, and the portal closed behind it.
Everyone began to depart from the lobby. Alastor couldn't stop himself from holding Selena in his arms. It felt right. Odd, but right. Selena though began to squirm and move in his arms. "Mmm." She wiped her face sleepily. She began to open her eyes. She blinked a few times before she realized her predicament. She woke up in Alastor's arms. "Whaaaa?" She semi shrieked. Much to Alastor's ears' dismay.
