"Luz, wait up!"
"Oh, hey Amity!" She said, turning to the young witch with a smile. "What's up?"
"Oh, I was just curious if you wanted to practice together. Spells I mean!" Amity clarified quickly. "I mean, I figured maybe practicing would help, or not, I'm fine either way really."
"Yeah, that would be great, do you want to see if we can find an abomination glyph?"
"Well it would be useful to add to the other glyphs you have." She said quickly, latching onto the excuse. 'I need to remember that one for the future.'
"Sweet! Let's find someplace empty so we don't get in trouble." She said, looking around before spotting a supply closet door that was ajar. "Perfect!"
"Wait, in there? A closet?" Amity's face heated up. "B-But uh, isn't it a bit…cramped?"
"Nah… well, maybe, but we don't need that much room, right?" Luz asked, oblivious to Amity's face that was growing red.
"Uh…w-well I mean…t-there isn't enough light!"
"Uh Amity?" She whipped out a light glyph paper before tapping it and held the light ball with a smile. "Light spell, duh."
"O-Oh, right, yeah, hehe…" She chuckled weakly as Luz led her to the closet. She tried to keep it together as they got inside, thankful the darkness hid her blush as the door closed.
Unknown to both of them, a professor with the head of a snake was stumbling down the hall towards the supply room, trying to balance a large stack of box's that clanked with the sound of glass hitting glass in them.
"Ugh, I swear, I should have started moving these extra elixirs last week, but nooo, just had to go and stuff your face full of donuts early in the day. I swear I need to go on a diet." they grunted, trying not to drop any of them while in the closet Luz used the light spell to, well light, up the inside.
"Alright, you ready for some practice?"
"Y-yeah, I'm ready." Amity said, nodding her head quickly.
"Alright, show me what you got, and don't hold back, give me all you got!"
"I-I-ok!" She said, blushing as she heard the statement. As she started to cast a low level abomination spell, the door suddenly flung open.
"Uh, finally. Goodbye useless elixirs!" He let out before the spell caused an abomination to form under his vision as he stepped in, bumping into him and making him stumble back. "W-Woah woah woah!" He cried, the stack of boxes falling forward as he lost his grip on them, right atop the surprised students who didn't have time to react.
CRASH!
Leading to a huge cloud coming out, a mix of colors as coughing was heard as the girls tried to cover their mouths. Both not noticing a pink vial crack near their feet or some of the smoke drifting out and near their faces, forming several small hearts as they ran out of the closet for air.
"Wha- cough cough- was that?!" Amity groaned, coughing as she inhaled several of the spell fumes.
"I don't kn-ack!" Luz groaned, hacking as she felt herself inhale something strange. She coughed several times as Amity put her hand on her back.
"Luz? Luz are you gonna be ok?"
Luz tried to nod, but she kept coughing, making Amity concerned.
"Come on, let's go see the nurse just to be safe." She said as she helped Luz stand up, and as they made eye contact they felt a buzz go down their spines. But it went away just as quick as it happened, although Luz swore she felt her heart beat pick up out of nowhere as they headed down the hall, with her eyes staying on Amity.
"O-Ok, whatever you say.." She said, feeling her face heating up the longer she stared at Amity. 'Wow, has Amity always looked this pretty? How come I never noticed before?'
"Just hang in Luz, we'll be there momentarily, I promise."
"Hey Amity, did you know your nose looks cute?" smiled Luz, making Amity turn to her in surprise as the human poked it. "Boop."
"I…wha…uh….thanks?" She said, her face turning beet red. 'Wha-is, is this human flirting?!'
Luz chuckled right as they reached the nurse's office, inside a skinny demon in a nurse's uniform with purple skin, one eye, and currently cleaning up something red from the counter.
"Come in, I'll be with you in a moment." she called as Amity navigated Luz over to one of the examination tables.
"Try and lay down." Amity suggested as Luz just giggled.
"Whatever you say Am-Am~"
"Uh…what did you call me?" She said, feeling faint. 'Is this a dream?'
"Am-Am, is it ok if I call you that?" she asked with an innocent expression.
"I…well…I mean, I don't dislike it, just…surprised is all." She said quickly, trying to process what was going on.
"Alright, now then, what's wrong with you two?" the nurse butted in, stopping the two girl's conversation.
"Oh! Well, Luz was coughing a lot before we got here, after some elixirs broke near us." Amity recapped quickly. "She uh…she was a bit lightheaded and is acting a bit strange." She added as well.
The nurse moved over and looked at Luz from top to bottom, checking inside her mouth, in her ear, the eyes, even checking under her arms. "Well, you don't look like you've been affected. Frankly you seem perfectly fine, at least compared to other witches. Do you know what the elixir looked like, or at least what it smelled like?"
"N-Not really, it was a lot of potions collapsing at once." Amity said nervously.
"Together? Oh geez, I better get my tools." she muttered walking away with Luz looking at Amity with a smile and not seeing bothered at all.
"Uh…Luz? You feeling ok?" She asked as Luz just sighed happily.
"Oh, I'm fine, I was just admiring your beautiful eyes~"
That really got Amity's face turning bright red. "W-W-What?!" She cried out nervously. "I-I-I-I!" She just stuttered nervously.
"And I always thought the way your hair was colored made you so unique, and I DO like unique things~" She said, scooting closer as Amity… well she didn't know what to feel, she was way past flustered, and she was trying to figure out if she was conscious or if those potions had put her into a fantasy.
'Luz is NOT being herself! I…well I mean, she's not changing or seems to be in any pain, but…would finding a cure for whatever's going on be such a bad i-NO! Don't think that! Even if….' She thought, feeling flustered when suddenly she felt very strange as a heart popped out from Luz's back and slipped into her, and Luz began to blink in confusion.
"Huh?" she looked around as Amity rubbed her eyes. "Hey, where are we? I thought we were in the hall?" She said, looking around in confusion. "Are…we in a nurse's office or a dissection room?!"
Amity looked at Luz, feeling her chest heat up and beat like a drum while feeling speechless. "Luz…I…I…"
"Amity? Are you ok?" Luz asked, turning to her friend with concern. "You're turning red, is that why we're here?"
Amity looked serious before reaching down and grab Luz's hands. "Luz, I have always loved you, will you marry me?" Asked Amity, making the girl go wide eyed and turn crimson red.
"W-W-W-W-W-W-What?!"
"Please, make me the happiest witch on the boiling isles!" She spoke moving her face closer to Luz's who backed up, but her hands were held on tightly.
"A-A-Amity? You're freaking me out!"
"Please Luz, my love, my heart aches for you!" She spoke while wrapping her arms around Luz and rubbed her head against her cheek, Luz's mind literally going all over the place from what was being said and done.
"I-I-I-I-I!"
"Please Luz, let us become one in body and mind, here and now~" Amity cooed, her pupils changing to that of hearts. "Please Luz, please be mine and mine alone!" She cried out loudly, grabbing the attention of the nurse.
"Hey! Not here, not in my office!" She spoke moving over and separating the two with a frown. "You do that outside!"
"W-Wait, what's going on with Amity though?!" Luz cried out in confusion. "She's acting weird!"
"Look, it's clear you two got hit with a love potion, most of them wear off after a bit…usually. Look, physically you're both fine, so you're officially not my problem." She declared before pushing them out of her office. "Now out!" she declared before the door slammed behind them.
Luz's mouth went slack and eyes widened in disbelief with Amity staring at her dreamily. "A-Amity, I-I…" Luz let out, right as the heart popped up from Amity's back, zipping around by the legs, and then slipped right into Luz's own body, both of them widening their eyes. Amity from her senses coming back, and Luz from her suddenly feeling her heart beat faster.
"Huh? What?" Amity let out, before noticing how close she and Luz were, making her yelp as she let go and jumped back going bright red. "Luz! W-Why were you so...close? Weren't we just in the nurse's office?"
"Because Amity… I LOVE YOU!" She cheered out with a beaming smile before hugging Amity tightly, rubbing her cheek with the girl who went still and swore she was dreaming.
'I-Is this real? Am I dreaming?!'
"Oh I can't believe I never told you before, but you have the most CUTEST face ever!" Luz gushed as Amity just let out a meek squeak to that declaration.
"R-Really?" asked Amity who didn't know if this was one of her crazy dreams or reality. "I-I always found your face cute too."
"Eeeeeh!" squealed Luz with a smile before hugging Amity tight and lifted her up while jumping around. "Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh!"
'If this is a dream I never want to wake up!' Thought Amity who felt butterflies all over.
"Let's go on a date!" Luz said as Amity both perked up and froze over.
"D-D-Date?"
"Yep!" She said eagerly. "What do you say, wanna go now?"
"W-Well I mean…uh…"
"I'll take that as a yes!" She said happily, grabbing Amity's hand as she began to lead her away.
"I-I-I-I!" She just stuttered, trying to process what was happening.
"C'mon, it'll be fun and we can spend some quality time together!" Beamed Luz as she dragged Amity out of the school while Emira and Edric happened to be looking out the window and spotted the two.
"Hey, am I seeing things, or is that Mittens with Luz?"
"Are they skipping school?" Emira rubbed her eyes. "Our sister, skipping classes?"
"I know, it's shocking… maybe they finally got the guts to ask each other out?"
The twins looked at each other and burst out laughing, having a brief moment to hold their sides at the idea, with Edric seeing the two head off in the distance before he wiped a tear away.
"Hey…you thinking what I'm thinking?" Emira asked with a smirk as Edric tapped his chin.
"That the current system we live in will inevitably collapse in on itself?" He asked as she looked at him in confusion.
"Where'd that come from?"
"I don't know, just wanted to talk without thinking." he shrugged. "You want us to follow them on their date, don't you?"
"Yes!" She groaned, shaking her head. "We'll unpack all of that later, but for now we should hurry before they get away."
With that they rushed down the hall, while with the happy couple, Amity was trying to breathe easy and keep cool as Luz looked left and right.
"Hmmm, what sounds like a good first date spot?" Luz mused as Amity just sputtered.
"I-I-I don't… maybe a uh… picnic?"
"Oooh, I like it!" She let out, right before the heart popped out from the back of her, making her blink before it flew into Amity's who stood up straight and gave a seductive smile as Luz looked around. "Huh? What? Hey wait, weren't we at school?"
"We were, but now we are here my love, and we are finding the perfect spot for our date, but if you'd rather we could find a chapel instead~" she grabbed Luz's hands with her own, making the girl gawk.
"C-C-Chapel? Uh…you mean to-"
"That's right." nodded Amity with a grin making Luz's whole face go crimson. "You and me, together forever, and then we can go on to the honeymoon~" She cooed as Luz just gulped.
Meanwhile, the green haired witch's siblings had finally caught up to them, and were shocked by what they saw.
"Woah! Who knew Mittens was so direct. I feel a little proud." remarked Emira.
"Yeah, do you think we should step in? She just asked Luz to marry her."
The twins looked up in thought before shaking their heads. "Nah."
"A-A-Amity! I don't think we can! That's kinda soon." gulped Luz as Amity held her close and rubbed her head against her neck, making her shiver, but not in a bad way, with said witch smelling her. 'Ah dios mio! This reminds me of one of my fanfics!'
"Oh Luz, nothing is too soon when it comes to love, when you realize you're in love you can no longer wait, you must act!" She declared passionately.
"Maaaaybe we could act later?" She suggested nervously.
"Why my love, is there another you love besides me?" Amity asked dramatically.
"Well I mean, not really." admitted Luz before finding herself picked up bridal style, which made her let out a squeak.
"Then I shall earn your love, Luz my darling, on this I swear!"
"Wow, Mittens is really getting into this."
"Who knew she was hiding this side of her. Now I feel a little jealous. We've failed as big siblings." spoke Emira dramatically with his hand on his forehead.
"Fair not dear brother, we can more than make up for it later." spoke Edric with her own dramatic pose before they saw Amity run down the road with Luz in her arms. "They're on the move!"
"After them! Also, we need to find popcorn stat, this is just getting good!"
Luz held on to Amity's neck to hang on, with said girl looking around quickly. "Amity! You're not acting like yourself!"
"Au contraire! I feel more alive and like myself than ever!" She declared, rushing forward. "I feel like I can conquer the whole world! And with you by my side, nothing can stop us!"
'Nothing makes sense! Something's going on.' thought Luz, right as the heart popped out of Amity, making her slow down and nearly fall as it went into Luz's chest.
"Huh?" Amity blinked in confusion before noticing what she was doing and gaped. "L-Luz?! Why are you in my arms?!"
"Why, Amity, can't you tell, clearly you've reciprocated my feelings and are taking me away somewhere for us to make it official~" Giggled Luz with Amity's jaw dropping open. "If I knew ahead of time I would have sent out invites, but this works too~"
"W-W-W-W-WHAT?!" She cried out, not believing what she just heard. 'I-I know I care about her but…wouldn't I remember something like that?!'
Luz held Amity's cheeks and looked her in the eyes with a dreamy expression. "Tell me, should I take your family name, or would you like mine~?"
"I-wha-I don't?!" She sputtered in shock.
"I'm sorry, is it done differently in the boiling isles?" Asked Luz. "Are weddings different too? Oh! We should let Eda know, she'll be so happy!"
"I….maybe?!" She just squeaked out. 'Wait, that's not a bad idea, something is going on, it has to be, as much as I want this to be real it's too strange, why do I keep blacking out, why does Luz suddenly act so strange and amazin- no, keep focused!' she shook her head. "You know, you're right, we should go talk to her, right now."
"Yes! She'll want to be at our wedding, oh you've made me the happiest witch in the boiling isles Amity~" Luz gushed, hugging Amity's head, making the witch blush, but urged herself in her head not to get distracted while her siblings were following, now with popcorn.
"Ooh, it looks like Luz has reciprocated Mitten's feelings, nice."
"Sounds like the two really are gonna tie the knot. Think we should tell mom?"
"Nah, fuck her, she'd probably try to stop them."
"Good call. Besides, seeing her face when she learns we're gonna get a human for a sister-in-law is too good to pass up."
"Oh yeah, I can't wait to see the fallout~" They chuckled as they kept following the 'couple', seeing them start to near the owl house.
Amity skidded to a stop and set Luz down.
"Hoot hoot, hey Luz, you're home early, yaaaay!" cheered Hooty, making Amity shiver and frown.
"Hooty, please tell me Eda's home, I've got some good neeeews~"
"You got it! Hoot hoot!" He cried before stretching out and slamming his head backwards through a window, breaking it. "Eda! Luz has something to tell you!"
"Alright, alright I'm coming." Eda called, the door opening up only for her to pause when she saw Luz cuddling up next to a very nervous and flustered Amity. "Ok, I'm gonna ignore why you're home early and ask what's going on here instead?"
"Eda, we're getting married!" Luz claimed happily.
Eda stared at them with wide eyes while Hooty cheered. "You two…getting…married."
"Eyup, and we wanted to invite everyone!"
"Even me?" asked Hooty.
"Of course."
"Hooray!"
"Um, Luz, before you go on, can we uh…talk to Eda about this?" Amity spoke up. "Eda, this uh…feels amazing and weird. I keep blacking out, ending up in strange places and Luz is…more affectionate than usual."
"Trust me, it's hard not to tell." she remarked. "Both of you inside right now."
"But we need to find a chapel!" Luz complained when suddenly she and Amity froze, the heart leaving her and entering Amity.
Eda's eyes widened as Luz groaned and looked confused.
"Eda? Why am I back here?"
"We… must be here to get her blessing for our marriage, my love!" Smiled Amity holding Luz's hands. "Eda, me and Luz are going to be wed, and we want your blessing?"
"Both of you inside, now!" Eda demanded, letting out a groan. "I think I have an idea on what's going on."
"The dawn of a new union of course." Amity declared while Luz blushed.
"Not quite you two, now come on." She turned and lead them inside as they sat on the couch before she rubbed her forehead. "Ok, so it seems to me like the answer to this is really simple, but also very annoying."
"What is it?" Luz asked nervously.
"Yeah, what?" Emira and Edric asked, poking their heads in through the broken window.
"Hey, where did you two come from?" frowned Amity.
"We've been following you, but that's not important." Edric said with a shrug.
"Yeah, what's important is finding out why you and Luz are so mushy, not that we don't like it." grinned Emira.
"Well the answer is simple. Luz? Did you and Amity get doused in, oh I don't know, any weird elixir?"
"No. I mean, we did try to practice in a closet-"
"Dang Mittens! Way to go!" cheered the twins with two thumbs up.
"N-not like that, we were practicing glyphs!" Luz blushed. "And… I do remember a bunch of bottles full of stuff breaking near us when someone dumped them into the closet, but the nurse said we were fine I think?"
"Sounds to me like you got exposed to a love potion, and an old one at that. Usually a love potion's effects are temporary, but if they go too long without being used, they age, meaning the effects can get…this." She sighed in annoyance. "The good news is, they usually wear off in time."
"Eda, why must you lie to me, my feelings for Luz are real!" Amity protested.
"That's what it always feels like, but the potion can fool anyone affected. Trust me, I dealt with a few weirdos who tried slipping it to me."
"So…what do we do now though?" Luz asked as Amity tried to hug her possessively.
"Well, right now we just have to wait, but in the meantime we have to make sure you two don't do anything you'll regret later."
"I don't believe you. You don't know the burning passion I'm feeling right now!"Amity protested before turning to Luz. "Luz, my darling, please, run away with me, if Eda won't approve of our love then we shall run away to find somewhere that we can be alone together!"
"Uh…." Luz looked away with a blush while Eda shook her head.
"Then again, waiting around might not be the best solution. Seems like I might have to get my hands dirty and work up a counter one." She sighed as she waved her hand, casting a spell as Amity and Luz found themselves surrounded by magic bubbles and forced apart. "In the meantime, you two are staying apart, got it?"
"No!" cried Amity banging on the bubble. "You can't keep us apart! Our love is stronger than that!"
"Yeah yeah, you two can thank me later, and as for you two, you two are gonna be my new gophers." She said, turning her gaze to Amity's siblings.
"Love to, but can't."
"We better get back to school, don't wanna miss out on homework." finished Edric as they turned, right before the door slammed right.
"Wasn't a request, it was an order. You two are gonna go for me to get the ingredients I need, or else I might leave you alone with Hooty." she smiled.
"Hoot hoot, I need someone to clean my unmentionables~" Called the owl…thing, making the twins shudder.
"Then again, helping out our little sister IS the right thing to do."
"Yes, I can't think of a nobler cause."
"IF YOU WANT TO HELP THEN FREE ME SO I CAN BE WITH LUZ!" Yelled Amity banging on the bubble harder while looking frantic, making Luz concerned.
"Uh, Eda? Will Amity be alright?"
"Of course, she'll wear herself out in no time. Here you two, get me everything on this list." Eda jotted down what she needed and handed it to Emira. "And we need everything, otherwise the counter elixir might…let's just say if it's not exact it won't be pretty."
"Gotcha." She said nervously.
"Um, Eda, how long is the spell supposed to last?" Luz asked, glancing over at Amity.
"I have no idea, again with age it can make a love potion end up like this. For all we know it's here to stay." she remarked as the twins left. "That is unless those two get me all I need, then it's sure as fire not gonna last."
Luz nodded when suddenly she and Amity froze once more, the heart switching places. "Amity… why are you away from me my love?"
"Huh?" Amity looked around at the bubbles. "Oh no, did I-"
"Yell out to be with Luz like a wackjob? Yup." nodded Eda as Luz pressed up against her own bubble. "Not to worry, those will keep you two apart until you're back to normal."
"I am normal, now just let me be with my love, please Eda!"
"Uh…Eda, what happened?"
"Your sibs are gonna get what I need and then I can fix this whole love potion issue you two are dealing with."
"Love potion?" Amity asked, filled with dread.
"An expired one."
"Lies! All lies!" cried Luz pushing against her bubble while looking at Amity. "Don't worry Amity, I'll get you back in my arms in no time!"
"Oh titan…" Amity groaned, blushing as she hid her face in her hands.
"Eda! Come on! Why are you so cruel?" pouted Luz. "We were gonna invite you to the wedding, but now you can forget it!"
"Trust me, you'll thank me for this later Luz." She said with a shrug. "And Amity, I don't think I have to tell you not to try and escape."
"I kinda figured."
"I MAKE NO PROMISES!" Luz declared, pulling out a pen. She pulled out her notepad and started drawing a glyph. "YOU WON'T KEEP APART OUR LOVE!"
"Luz, I wouldn't try it if I were you." Eda warned, narrowing her eyes. "I'm doing this for your own good, you decide how difficult this is going to be!"
Luz put the paper against the bubble and hit it, causing vines to burst from it, only for them to stay in the bubble and tangle Luz up instead.
"See? Tried to warn you." She sighed as she saw Luz struggled inside her own mistake. "I'm not exactly a lightweight Luz."
"Amity! Help!"
"It'll be ok Luz, just relax and let's let Eda do her thing." advised Amity with concern.
"Amity? My love, have you turned against me as well?" Luz asked, sounding hurt.
"No no! It's not that!" Amity held up her hands and felt worried. "Really, it's just that, we're both not feeling right. At least, not at the moment…" she trailed off looking away.
"Then please, my love, free me, I can't stand to be apart from you!"
"Ignore her Amity." Eda sighed. "She's no longer herself, she's desperate, crazed, and under the influence of the love potion."
"I AM NOT!" yelled Luz banging the bubble and looking twitchy. "I am perfectly normal!"
Eda raised an eyebrow. "Really? Ok, then answer this. What would you describe Amity's hair like?"
"It is a lovely shade of green, one that is the most beautiful color of all, and it is softer than anything else in the world~" She sighed while holding her hands together, making Amity blush.
"And what would you do if someone other than you happened to hold her hand?"
"Nothing that any court could possibly prove." She muttered darkly.
"Yep, certified nutjob." Nodded Eda, right as the heart switched bodies again. "Oh boy."
"Eda? What happened, why am I covered in vines?"
"Went a little crazy, nothing major."
"Eda, you're a business woman, right?" Asked Amity calmly and with a serious expression.
"Yeah? Why?" Eda asked, confused. 'Where is she going with this?'
"Then you should understand a good deal. My family is well off with a lot of money, and right now you're Luz's guardian, right?"
"Where are you going with this?"
"If me and Luz get married, then it only makes sense you'd have access to the funds since you'd technically be part of the family. I'll bet that'd make things a lot easier for you."
"Kid, are you seriously trying to bribe me- no, not bribe, pretty much attempt to buy Luz from me?" Eda asked as she shook her head.
"Of course not. There's no need to bribe you since me and Luz's love is genuine. I'm merely telling you the perks of letting us out so we can be together forever." Amity said calmly. "I assure you, it would be in your best interest, both for Luz's happiness and your financial future."
'Damn, she really is her mothers daughter, huh?' Eda shook her head. "Tempting, but you forget. Wanted criminal? Doubt your mom would like that. Besides, what you feel is just the potion talking."
"I COULD BUY AND SELL YOU OLD HAG!" Amity shouted, reaching the end of her patience. "LET ME BE WITH LUZ!"
"Amity please, calm down!" Urged Luz with worry. 'This love potion is nuts!'
"I can't Luz, not until we're together, but I promise, it'll be soon, I'm sure of it!" grinned Amity with her eye twitching.
'Those two better hurry up with the ingredients.' Eda thought, feeling a migraine coming on. 'This is not going to end well.'
(Later)
"For the last time Luz, the bubbles are fire proof!" Eda groaned.
"Yes, but you'll have to drop it if you don't want me to accidentally burn myself!" she called with a smirk while drawing numerous fire glyphs. "Or to let in fresh air, with too much fire burning together it'll eat up a lot of oxygen."
"Luz!" Eda groaned. "Don't make me pump water in there again!"
"Luz!" Amity frowned. "Listen to Eda and sit still, for me." She ordered, making Luz hesitate.
"...fine, but only for you my love!" She smiled with a wink, making Amity look away and try not to smile as the door opened up and her siblings walked in with bags in hand.
"We got it! I didn't even know half of this stuff existed!"
"Alright, now I can get started." Eda sighed with relief. "You two watch the love birds."
"Aw, why us?" frowned Edric.
"Because those two idiots need supervision so they don't kill themselves trying to get to each other."
"Ugh, fine." Relented Emira.
"Good, now then, mama's got to get cooking!" with that she left the teens alone.
"So…which of you is love struck?"
"Luz right now." Amity sighed, rubbing her head. "She just tried to set herself on fire."
"I was trying to make Eda get rid of the bubble so I can be free and free you!" called Luz. "Wait, you two can help! Find a way to pop the bubbles!"
Emira and Edric looked at each other before shaking their heads.
"No way, we're not crazy."
"We're not taking a chance. Especially if it means getting punished with…that thing."
"Hoot hoot! Are you guys talking about me? Because I got some great stories to tell you, especially about a fly I made friends with."
"Hooty! If you free me I'll make sure King and Eda listen to all your stories!"
"Hoot, sorry Luz, but this sounds pretty serious. I think I'll sit this one out, maybe take a little nap to pass the time." He said, slinking out of the house.
"Ugh…." Luz muttered before shuddering as the heart left her and entered Amity. "Ugh, what….why am I covered in fire glyphs?"
"Edric! Emira! Get us out or I'll tell mom about your secret sweets stash!" Amity let out quickly.
"Jokes on you, I ate it all yesterday!" Edric said smugly as Emira glared at him.
"What?!"
"Oh…sorry, but I had a really bad craving last night and I didn't wanna go down to the kitchen, so…oops."
"Hey, if you free me I'll help you beat him up!"
"Tempting, REAL tempting." remarked Emira glaring at her twin who looked bashful.
"Um…Amity? Will you please calm down and not do something crazy?" Luz asked as she was tearing up the fire glyphs. "I mean we've gone this long in these, and I'm kinda getting used to it."
"Well I'm not, I want to be with you Luz!" She pouted, trying to use her magic to create an abomination.
"Amity, you know those can't break the bubble!"
"I'm not giving up!" She declared. "I will not be denied!"
"What if I deny you?" Luz pointed out. "Like, if you don't sit still and keep calm, I…will ignore you."
"Wha- no, Luz, you can't!"
Luz didn;t respond, instead she just turned her back to Amity.
"Luz please don't!" she cried pushing up against the bubble.
Luz didn't respond, making Amity howl in apparent 'pain'.
"Please! Don't ignore me, my love!"
"Wow, this is kinda sad to watch." Emira muttered.
"Wanna take this chance to sneak away?" Whispered Edric.
"Kinda, I think they can handle this themselves now."
With that in mind the twins snuck out of the house while Amity kept trying to get Luz to turn around.
"Luz, please, look at me!" Amity begged, maneuvering the bubble around like a hamster ball in hopes of meeting her gaze.
Luz however had her eyes closed with her arms crossed.
"Luuuuuuuz!" Amity groaned, slumping against the side of the bubble.
"Alright alright, enough already." Called Eda, walking in with a cauldron in hands. "You can stop making so much racket, the anti-elixir is done."
"Finally/NOOO!" they said simultaneously.
"Alright, now then, here comes the hard part." Eda said as she set the cauldron down. "You both have to eat it at the same time."
"Why?" asked Luz.
"Because you're both affected by this, so to stop it, you both have to take the elixir at the same time." She said with a sigh. "Now normally this wouldn't be an issue, but I'd guess one of you, IE the one infected, doesn't want to 'lose her true feelings', am I right?"
"You can't take away my passion for MY Luz!"
"See? Exactly what I mean." Eda sighed. "Luckily, I have a plan B." She said, pulling out two funnels.
"Wait! I think I have another idea!" Luz said quickly. "Amity, please, if you love me for real then taking this potion won't change anything, right?"
"We don't know that for sure!" She argued nervously.
"Amity…if you do this for me I'll go on a new date with you?"
"Wait, really?!" She asked, her eyes lighting up.
"Yes, and…it'll be at a beach, and you can choose the swimsuit I wear."
"DONE!" She said eagerly. "Give me that goo now!"
"Good." She smirked before making the bubbles shrink, holding the girls in place before their heads poked out as she put a funnel in their mouths. "Be warned, it tastes nasty."
They nodded as Eda held the pot over the funnels and began to pour in it's content, a vile brown sludge oozing into the funnels. Their eyes widened as soon as it hit their tongues. "Don't throw it up now, you gotta swallow it."
The girls grimaced and just chugged, when suddenly the heart popped out of Amity, but before it could enter Luz it began to turn brown and shrivel up.
After a bit Eda pulled it away and let them go, both of them groaning and looking green.
"Oh sweet familia, my stomach!" groaned Luz, hugging herself.
"Don't worry, it won't kill you…maybe." Eda said with a shrug. "I'll leave you two to settle, you should be cured now." She headed out of the room while Amity tried rubbing her tongue with her sleeve to try and get rid of the taste.
"Ugh, that was gross." She groaned when suddenly she and Luz froze as they began to remember the events that had transpired when they had both been affected by the love elixir. They both slowly turned to each other, blushing before they looked away quickly, feeling mortified.
"So…." Luz said slowly, trying to bring herself to look at Amity. "That uh….did I really act like that?"
"Yeah…and I guess….I was no better." Amity admitted, her face crimson. "I uh…I guess I proposed to you a few times?"
Luz just nodded her head, making Amity hold her head.
"Luz, I am so so SO sorry." She covered her face. "I probably sounded like a complete idiot."
"It….it was sweet at first.." She admitted with a blush.
Amity looked at Luz in shock and wide eyes. "W-What?"
"It….was really sweet, I've never had anyone treat me like that before, and…well…I wouldn't have minded going on that date." She admitted twiddling her thumbs together as Amity's mouth dropped.
"B-But I sounded cheesy! I-I was so forward! I acted like a completely different person!" She protested, not believing what she heard. 'T-This can't be right…do I actually have a chance?'
"Well yeah, but I wasn't any different right?" Smiled Luz. "If anything, we sounded like we belonged in a soap opera my mom would watch, and trust me, those are WAY corny."
"Y-Yeah…" Amity said with a nod. "You weren't as….crazy as I was though."
"Amity. I threatened to set myself on fire if I couldn't be with you, remember?"
"Well yeah, but I threatened to buy and sell Eda, which isn't something I would never do. Throwing my money around and acting like my mom is something I hate." she admitted looking down.
"Well, we were nuts." She sighed.
"Yeah…" Amity said, looking at Luz. 'Should I…maybe I should just go for it?' "Um, hey Luz."
"Yeah?"
"This might sound weird, especially after what happened, but do you think that maybe…you know…you'd actually be fine dating someone like me?"
Luz blinked as she looked up at Amity in surprise. "Amity, I…yes! I'd love to!"
"Really?" Amity looked surprised, but happy. "I mean, even after how I use to act?"
"Yeah, that's in the past, you're a different person now." she smiled. "Besides, I'd be lying if I said you weren't really cute."
"W-Well you're cute too." She said, her face heating up.
"Then let's do it!" grinned Luz. "This time I'll figure out the best first date you ever been on."
"Well it'll be my first."
"In that case, it'll be even better than great!" grinned Luz pumping her fist in the air.
"Yeah!" Amity said eagerly, moving forward and pulling Luz into a hug.
Luz sighed, feeling butterflies in her stomach from how warm she felt. "We need to tell Eda the good news. Hey Eda!"
"What is it, you two mutating?" Eda called.
"No, come in here!" Luz called, happily hugging Amity.
Eda rushed downstairs, spotting the girls cuddling on the ground and groaned. "Dang it, one dose wasn't enough. Better make some more. Don't go getting any ideas you two."
"No, Eda, we're-"
"Still infected, I know." she shook her head. "Just keep in mind, it's not real, it's a complete farce."
"But Eda-"
"Just a farce." she cut her off again. "Now I should be able to get the fresh batch whipped up in no time, but just to be on the same side." She formed a magic circle before another force field popped up around the girls, only for it to split in two and separate them in two bubbles. "Just to be on the safe side."
"Wha- EDA! No!"
"Don't worry Luz, you'll be back to normal in no time."
"But I am!"
"Yeah, she is!" Amity chimed in. "We're both feeling like ourselves!"
"That's what you said last time, you're gonna have to try harder than that." she left the two alone, leading to Luz sighing while Amity kicked at her bubble.
"Ugh, damn it! Not now!"
"Relax Amity, we just wait for Eda to come back, drink the cure again, and she'll let us out."
"But we are cured!"
"I know that, you know that, but Eda didn't see it so she's kinda in her own world right now."
"I know, but I just want to be with you right now!" Groaned Amity. "And after I finally told it like it is!"
"Well, at least we can still talk?" smiled Luz trying to sound upbeat. "That's a plus, right?"
"Yeah, but I want to do more than talk." she glanced away with a blush. "Like...hold hands."
"….I am getting us out of these bubbles if it's the last thing I do!" proclaimed Luz who started hitting the bubble with her shoulder with a grunt and burning determination.
"Thanks Luz." smiled Amity before she started doing the same, trying to make a magic circle as a tiny abomination formed and groaned. "Abomination, help me break out of here."
The monstrosity groaned as it began to hammer at the walls. Although it barely helped since its own body was hardly hard enough to do a thing.
"EDA! Let us out!"
"Hold your horses! I'm almost done!" Eda called from the kitchen. "Making this sucker extra potent!"
"Eda, we're already cured!"
"Sure you are, just keep it together a bit longer!" Eda called. "This will either cure you or curse you!"
This made Luz and Amity both facepalm together.
"Eda, we're already cured!" groaned Luz.
"You will be!" Eda called, walking into the room as she held a bubbling pail of green ooze with a pair of ladles. "Second times the charm."
"Oh no." Amity covered her mouth while turning green.
"Don't worry, it's only slightly acidic."
"The first dose wasn't." Luz mentioned before seeing some of it drip down, burning a hole through the floor.
"Open up kids~" Eda said as she held up the ladles.
"Are you gonna get rid of the bubbles?" Amity raised an eyebrow.
"Yes." She made a circle as the bubbles popped. "Now drink up you two."
"Now!" Amity cried before her tiny abomination jumped up and latched onto Eda's face, making her drop the ladles and making the potion eat a hole through the floor and making the house shake.
"Ow ow ow ow! Hey! What's the big idea?!" cried Hooty from the door.
"Eda is trying to poison us!"
"I am not!" she yelled getting the abomination off, only to find a bigger one holding her from behind. "Hey!"
"Eda, listen to us closely." spoke Luz walking over with a serious look. "Me and Amity? We AREN'T still cursed. We DO genuinely like each other. This isn't some outside influence, it's not us going nuts, we DO like each other. You already cured us with the first dose."
"Prove it." Eda said with a frown.
"How?!"
"Say you love each other at the same time."
That made their faces light up.
"W-W-What?!"
"If you both say it then you're no longer afflicted by the curse." Eda reasoned.
Both girls looked at the other, their faces feeling warm and feeling trapped in a corner now.
"I uh… well…. Ok." Luz said quietly.
"If...If that's what it takes..." Amity let out with a gulp.
"Then just say it!"
They turned to the other, bracing themselves, and opened their mouths. "I love you!"
Aw, that's sweet." Eda said as she rolled her eyes. "Fine, you two are cured, now get this thing off of me."
Amity nodded and made the abomination let go of the owl lady before it dispersed into goo. "Wait, how did us saying we loved each other prove it? For all you know it was us still being nutty, what made that so different?"
"After what you two were saying, I knew it'd have to be something genuine and embarrassing, and NOT overly cheesy." She said with a grin. "Plus it was entertaining to watch."
"Ugh…..can we go now?" Amity groaned. "I have a date to prepare for."
"And I've got a date TO plan."
"Alright alright, but let me give you some advice. For starters, try to take it slow, rushing things never work out. Also you don't wanna experiment right away because you might scar yourself mentally and literally. Then there's also making sure you don't get tempted to do anything freaky in public because trust me that's a sure fire way to get kicked out of-"
"EDA! We're taking it slow!" cried Luz covering her ears.
"That's what they all say…that reminds me, have you two had the talk about the birds and the flaming bees?" she asked as the girls turned pale.
"Wait, flaming bees?" questioned Luz.
"I'll take that as a no." Eda said as she raised her hand, bristling with power. "Now then, let's get starte-"
"Nope, already heard it, see you later Luz!" Cried Amity before rushing out of the house as quickly as she could.
"Wait, don't leave me!" Luz cried only to find another force field around her. "NOOOOOO!"
