Over at Metropolis High, a school that had so many super powered kids it's a wonder it hasn't burned down, is where we find a rather tall and scary teen who usually prefers to be quiet. As he walked down the halls, he saw his friends all walking in pairs. He let out a sad sigh and looked at the ground, the reminder of his own loneliness coming back to haunt him.

That's when...

"Hey Carter." Someone greeted.

He stopped and looked behind him to see Karen smiling. "Hey." he greeted back plainly before turning away and resumed walking.

"Is something bothering you?" She asked while walking by him.

"No." he remarked without turning to her.

"Are you sure about that?" she asked with concern as he just grunted. "I don't mean to bother you, I'm just concerned."

"Well...it's just that, well all of the couples in our group..." Then he gestured to the pairs. "It makes me just wanna go and see Shayera."

"Oh..." she let out in understanding before patting his back. "It'll be alright." Then she notices Shayera walking by with someone else. It was a tall teen with a clean shaven head with some fuzz on top, wearing a black muscle shirt with green around the sleeve edges with blue jeans and wearing combat boots. "Oh..."

"Huh? What's wrong?" Then Carter turned his head but Karen quickly blocked his view!

"It's nothing! Nothing at all!"

He pushed her tiny body away with one hand. When he saw the two, his eyes widened, mouth dropped, and felt like the world around him shattered while Karen looked at him sadly.

"I'm so sorry Carter."

"Of course it's John Stewart, I've seen her making eyes at him. This is for the best..." he muttered, looking down sadly with a depressed tone.

"Carter? It's okay, you'll find someone, and then you'll forget about Shayera." She said as she stood there while Carter slumped away. "I mean, maybe this is a sign."

"A sign? Like what?"

"Well, from what you told me, if you two DID get together eventually, you'd end up dying and reincarnating again and again. So if you really think about it, maybe this is a sign to change things up."

"Yeah and at least she's happy."

"That's the spirit."

"Even though it leaves me alone..." he grumbled before leaning against the lockers and slumped down on his butt.

"Carter..." said Karen. She crouched down and tried patting his shoulder. "I'll help you find a new lover."

"It won't work."

"Don't be so negative. Girls love big buff guys, a lot of stupid girls love the teen guys with hair covering thier eyes, you're also a silent guy, the strong silent type is attractive..."

"Like that's helped me since coming here."

"I'll prove to you that you can get a girlfriend, even if she isn't Shayera."

"Like how?"

Later...we see Karen, Carter and a long line of teen girls.

"I don't know if this is gonna work Karen."

"It'll work, don't worry." She assured him. "You should realize you're hot now, look at all these girls who wanna date you."

"Well...I guess it's worth a shot."

"Alright ladies, he's ready for you!"

Then the first girl sat down.

"Hello, I'm Courtney Whitmore." smiled the blond haired girl wearing a red, white, and blue tank top with blue jeans.

"So, what made you wanna date Carter?"

"Well, I think my perky personality can compliment this silent imposing personality he has right now." she winked at him, making him sigh.

"I'm not really sure if I'm good enough."

"Don't be so down on yourself big guy." Said Karen.

"She's right, so, what do you think? Me and you?"

"No..."

"Hmph, fine."

"Next..." Karen called.

"Hey! I'm Rose Wilson!"

"No!" Both shouted in panic.

"What? What's wrong with me?" she crossed her arms.

"Aren't you Slade's daughter?"

"Yeah? Got a problem with that?"

"I'd rather not get involved with him, he creeps me out." Said Carter.

"Hmph, suit yourself."

"Next."

"Hey, I'm Shenice Vale. I'm a transfer all the way from Dakota City." smiled an african girl with dark hair done up in a small bundle behind her head, a long sleeved white shirt with slightly ripped blue jeans.

"Hello, you up for my buddy Carter? He's trying to get over his crush crushing him."

"You poor guy...sorry, I guess I can't. I just wanted to tease this one friend back at Dakota, make him a bit jealous. Wouldn't be right if I was using you after recently you got your heart broken." she admitted.

"It's fine." Carter let out with a sigh.

"Next." Said Karen

Eventually...

"Not one girl in that line had anything you were looking for." sighed Karen sadly with Carter standing up. "I'm sorry."

"You tried your best Karen, thanks a lot." He stood up. "I better get going."

"Wait, Carter!"

He ignored her.

"Come on wait!" she called following him. "Don't quit."

"It's okay, I'll find that special somepon-I mean special someone without anyone's help."

'Oooh, I wish I could do more to help.'

The next day...we see a giant mutant duck attacking the city.

"Alright everybody, pair up!" Said Wonder Woman.

Everyone went with their usual partner. Zatanna and Green Arrow, Supergirl and Aqualad, Batgirl and Flash, Bumblebee and Hawkman.

"Hey Carter."

"Hey Karen, thanks again for trying to help me." he thanked as he flew over the duck with her following. "It did make me feel a little better."

"Aww, you're welcome." She shot at the duck while Hawkman smacked it in the back of its head!

"Honestly I'm surprised. I figured you'd go on and leave me to myself."

"We're friends, why would I do that?"

"Well I'm not exactly the most social." he remarked before hitting the duck on the side with his mace.

"I've noticed, sorry I made you do that yesterday."

"Don't worry about it, besides, I did some thinking, maybe there's a girl I wanna try dating."

"Really, who?" Asked Bumblebee before launching a missile!

"I'll tell you after we've roasted this duck."

"Roast duck? Why didn't you say so!" Said Hal Jordan, overhearing them. "Jessica get the baster ready! I'll preheat the oven!"

"Way ahead of you!"

The duck saw the oven and the turkey baster and realized his uh...goose was cooked, even though he was still a duck. It flew away as both Green Lanterns gave chase.

"So, who's this girl you've been thinking about?" Asked Karen as they transformed back into their civilian clothes.

"Well..." he rubbed the back of his head with a blush. "Promise not to laugh? It's a girl I've been hanging out with a lot."

"Ooh, thinking you can get outta the friendzone with her?"

"Eeyup."

"Is she someone I know? Wait! Is she one of my friends?"

"She's someone very close to you Karen."

"Who? Diana?"

"No."

"Barb?"

"Nuh-uh."

"Better not be my mom."

"It's you Karen."

"M-ME?!"

"Yeah, we hang out, we're close aren't we? You've helped me with my romantic problems...I was hoping to try and see if we're compatible?"

"A-are you asking me out right now!?" she turned bright red with a squeak in her tone.

"Well I mean, if you don't want to, I understand."

"Wait!" She stopped him. "Yes, we can go out later..."

"Great, do I...pick you up at 6?"

"Pick me up at 7! I need more time to get ready!" Then Karen started running home.

"Ok!"

Later that night...we see Carter in a black tux and Karen in a yellow dress.

"Oh...we're uh...going to the restaurant that you wanted to take Shayera to but couldn't."

"I wanna show you that I'm done with her. Hopefully this isn't that weird of a way to do it."

"No no no! It's fine, really."

"Well then, shall we?" Asked Carter, holding out his hand.

"Oh, please do." Replied Karen, taking his hand. The both of them now walking into the restaurant.

"Hello, we have a reservation for Lee?"

The front desk looked up a list of reservations. "Yes of course Mr. Lee, I'll see you to your seats right away."

"Uh...Lee?" Asked Karen.

"I was thinking about this cartoon I saw when I was little." He explained. "Figured it couldn't hurt to fib a little."

"I think I know what cartoon you're talking about, that was a funny episode."

"You saw it too?"

"Yeah, heh, Orlando Bloo."

Both of them chuckled before a waiter came by with menus. They looked through a menu and then resumed talking.

"I was wondering, what else made you wanna date me?"

"Well, you know how I painted Shayera? Well, when I spent time thinking about stuff, I realized I had painted you."

That made Karen's face light up, making her duck behind the menu. "W-W-Why? I mean, I-I'm not really all that pretty compared to her."

"Nonsense, you're really pretty." he remarked bluntly, making steam rise up from her head hearing that.

"Carter! Y-you charmer!" she let out, feeling butterflies in her stomach from the compliment. "Well, have I ever told you how much I like staring at your muscles when you're in costume?" she admitted. "N-Not that I'm a pervert! It's just...they're really impressive."

"Heh, thanks a lot." he smiled. "When I had free time, a lot actually, I just took working out really serious."

"I notice, gotta resemble...yourself in each reincarnation I guess." remarked Karen, trying to get some small talk going.

"I noticed you getting bullied by Doris Zeul, you okay?"

"Oh her? Don't worry about me, if she stuffs me in a locker, I can always just shrink down." she smiled. "I've been getting better at dealing with her attitude."

"Awesome."

"But if things get too tough with her, at least you'll be there for me."

He blushed hearing that and hid his own face now.

"Good evening, are we ready to order?" Asked the waiter.

Both ordered their food and then paid the bill. We now see them exiting the restaurant.

"That was delicious."

"Delicious but short. Wish I could shrink down like you and make those small portion meals look big."

"Aw, you don't need to worry like that." she smiled with a blush. "Honestly, going on my first date alone is amazing."

"I had fun with you too."

Karen leaned against Carter as they walked down the sidewalk at night.

"Oh god help me!" Screamed a woman who was getting mugged.

They walked into a dark alley and changed into their superhero costumes.

"I'll see you next Friday." Said Carter.

"Ooh, planning our next date already." Karen walked over and pecked Carter on the cheek before flying out and assisting the woman getting mugged. She zipped around the mugger, zapping him as she did, making him yell out and jump, dropping the purse before the woman kicked him in the nuts. And then Hawkman finished him off with his mace! Both smiled at each other before flying off in separate directions.

(Next day)

We now see them walking to art class together, hand-in-hand. This got numerous stunned looks from the students nearby.

"Dang, what do you think happened to them?" Said Garth, to Kara.

"Beats the heck out of me." remarked the blonde with wide eyes.

"I guess you can call them the bird and the bee." Said Garth.

"Really?"

"What?" He replied, shrugging his hands and Kara rolling her eyes.

As they happily walked down the hall, they passed by Shayera and John Stewart, Carter and Shayera not even batting an eye to each other.

"Wow, those two look cute together, eh Shayera?"

"Yep, they sure do."
