Dino Moretti looked out of the car window into Alfonso's Barber shop in Little Italy. He discarded the smoldering cigarette butt into the street and opened the car door. Dino walked into the rain, the falling water beating against the brim of his fedora and trench coat.
He remembered the orders Don Corleone had given him. It was as simple as any other job; shake down the barber and send a message to the Tatalligas… Little Italy was Corleone turf, and they wouldn't let a couple of small time thugs like them move in. Tensions had been high since all the family's started to pick at New York's Italian-American district, like vultures over a corpse. The Barzinis, the Cuneos, the Tatalligas, even the Stracci family was taking Corleone turf. They had to hold on to what they could, as well as take back what they had lost.
The Corleone Caporegime walked into the barber shop, the small frame of the frail Alfonso Rossetto shaking like a leaf as he realized who had just walked through the door of his small business. Dino took no time in grabbing the barber by his shirt collar and raising his head towards the rotating fan above.
"Alphonso… ché vergogna mio amico" he said as he punched the old man hard in the stomach, dropping him to the floor. He picked the old man back up, bringing him to his knees as he pulled a gun to the barber's head.
"You work so hard keeping these floors clean… don't make me have to mess them up with your brains" Dino told Alfonso as his terrified customer just stared, mouth gaping. Dino gave him a quick look and turned his attention back to the barber.
"I'll pay… I'll pay. Tell the Don he'll get his payment… every week" Alfonso said, taking deep breaths as he responded. The Corleone Capo brought him back to his feet and holstered the gun in his coat. He was about to go back to the waiting car when he was cut down by the steady beat of a Tommy gun.
The last thing Dino saw was the smug look of the barber and the ugly mug of a Tatalliga enforcer. He cursed and spat as the soldier spat lead back into his face.
