A/N: Picture this…Alanna and co. in now…almost everything the same, with some twists? That's what I'm trying to do. This is NOT A/J, only A/G!
Disclaimer: I am only saying this once…this is Tammy's, not mine, and I am not going to repeat in later chaps!
New School
"But Thom, I don't want to go to a fancy school! I want to go to public school, and be regular, not some rich kid!"
"Alanna, you want to go to Opal Hill Prep as much as I want to Greenstone High… I want to be able to learn at my level, not be stuck in some stupid no-brains class!" He looked wistful, and his mouth curled bitterly. "Father's just so preoccupied with his books, he doesn't see what we want." He looked again at Alanna, the bitterness replaced with regret. "If only we could switch."
Suddenly Alanna's amethyst eyes lit up. Thom looked at her, cautious.
"Alanna, what are you planning?"
"Thom, we could switch!"
Thom backed away from her, shaking his head and saying, "No, it would never work. What about Coram and Maude?"
She knew Thom thought he had succeeded in putting the thoughts from her mind, but instead she looked thoughtful. Coram was sort of like an uncle, having lived with them since they were born, and Maude had also been like a nursemaid… and they would be transporting them to the schools…and in Greenstone High's case, staying with one of the twins.
"Well…with Coram, we could always tell him that I would be a better compliment to him at sports and riding, fencing and archery, since you hate all of those sports that they have at Greenstone. Actually," She looked at him contemplatively, "You hate every sport, and anything that isn't from a book." She became serious after he death-glared at her, "And Maude…we can talk to her."
Coram would be going with the child to Greenstone and staying at the boarding house nearby with the chosen twin, since it was quite a journey away from home. He had been a famous martial artist, archery master, and fencer…and was quite exasperated with Thom. He always wanted one of the two to do well, but so far, Alanna was the only one who showed any talent.
Maude would be harder to persuade, since they had no leverage, but Alanna would do it somehow.
"I think…I think your crazy!" But Thom laughed anyways. "But how would we work around those letters Father's sending to the head of the prep school and the boarding house, telling them who we are?"
Alanna beamed at him, glad he was being cooperative. "You're an expert at copying Father's handwriting…so let's steam the envelopes!"
Thom looked at her like she was crazy. Did she ever expect to pull this off?
"I…I….I like the idea.
