Masquerade
I bring the mask up to my face,
It's elegant and threaded with lace,
I peer through the holes made for my eyes,
I hear myself blissfully lie,
You won't notice as I start to fade,
For I live in one big masquerade.
I see people dance through life,
They're spinning and moving on a natural high,
I always stand there alone on the side,
As always I try and successfully hide,
No one notices as I slip away,
For I live in one big masquerade.
I slip silently through the door,
And gently sit myself on the floor,
I try to pull the mask from my face,
The one that's elegant and threaded with lace,
But it's stuck and forever it'll stay,
For I live in one big masquerade.
