Wake Up Snorlax!
Once again we find Ash, Brock, Misty, Jovan, July, Anna, Seth and Slade continuing their Pokémon journey while the ever vigilant Pikachu keeps an eye out for trouble. Sort of as Dragonair flew besides them.
It was a beautiful day. Everyone was walking on a path near the forest until Jovan notices a strange old man sitting on a boulder.
"Groovey." the old man said. He has long white hair that covers his eyes a white beard, a blue diamond necklace and a green rag. "Greetings children of the universe."
"Hi." Anna said as they all approach him. "Are you out here all by yourself?"
"I have my music." the old man said. He takes out a flute with a Poké Ball on the end. Then the hippie began to play.
The music was very calm and relaxing. The trainers and Dragonair chuckled. Pikachu, who was asleep on Ash's backpack, wakes up happily as the flute wakes him up. The hippie finished his music.
"Now that you have listened to my music, you have to give me some food." the hippie said.
"Huh?" everyone asked confused.
"I thought the music was free." Anna said.
"Doesn't my flute playing at least earn a sandwich?" the hippie asked.
"We would love to, but we don't have anything to eat ourselves." Ash explains.
"Not even a cookie?"
"We don't even have a single crumb." Seth answered.
"Another free concert." the hippie said as he lay on his side. "Well then, guess for you to hit the road then."
Everyone walks away from the hippie. As they were walking, Ash's stomach was growling.
"So hungry." Jovan moans.
"I can't think on an empty stomach." Seth said.
"We haven't eaten anything since yesterday." Misty added.
Ash sighs. Then Pikachu notices something.
"Pika Pi." Pikachu pointed.
Jovan looks at the direction Pikachu pointed and sees a town.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket and Team Neo was listening to the hippie play his flute music.
"Anything for the piper?" he asks them. "Food would be nice too."
"You stop people, play some weird song..." Jessie said.
"And you're begging people for food." Sam said.
"The thing you should beg is music lessons." Justin said.
Team Rocket and Team Neo walks away from the hippie.
"Bad vibe." the hippie said. "Those people should respect their elders."
Everyone made it to the town.
"We finally found a town." Jovan said.
"There's a bakery store over there." July said.
Ash hands Pikachu to Brock as they approach the bakery store. But when they got over there, Anna notices there wasn't any bread in the baskets.
"There's no bread!" Anna shouted in shock.
"Maybe they're running late." Jovan suggested. "I'll see if they're making some. Hello!"
A baker walks over to them. "Oh." the baker said sadly. "Customers."
"We like to buy some bread please." Jovan said.
"I'm sorry." the baker apologized to them. "We don't have any bread left."
"No bread at a bakery." Misty whines.
They went over to the next shop and discovered there isn't any more vegetables too.
"There's no vegetables here too." Seth pointed out.
"Where'd all the food go?" Ash wondered.
Then they went over to a restaurant next, but the chef told them he doesn't have any ingredients. They found a couple stone benches in a park.
"I can't believe there's no food anywhere here in town." Seth said sadly.
Pikachu and Dragonair hears someone walking behind them and turns around. It was a middle age man with a cane. He was wearing a long gray pants, a green shirt, long gray hair with a mustache and a brown hat.
"Children, what seems to be the matter?" he asked.
Seth looks at him. "We've been looking for some food in town, but there's nothing left." Seth answered.
The man brought them all to his house. Ash was sitting in the middle between Brock and Misty while Pikachu was on the table eating some bread. Jovan sat across from Ash as he sits between July and Anna while Seth sits next to the mayor and Slade sits across from him as Drgaonair was eating bread too.
"So you're trying to become a Pokémon Master?" the mayor asked. "That's very difficult."
Anna swallows her soup before she spoke. "What's wrong with this town?" Misty asks him. "There's no bread in the bakery."
"And there aren't any vegetables in the market." Brock added.
"The water in the river has gone dry, killing our produce." the mayor explains. "So food in our town has been hard to come by. It's hard to keep food for ourselves to eat." He notices that they stop eating. "Oh, please don't worry." the mayor smiled. "My family can live without food for a while."
"But I don't remember the weather being dryer this year." Misty said.
"It rains like it always does." Brock said.
"It's not the rain." the mayor said.
After the trainers and the Pokémon finished eating, the mayor led them to a dried up river.
"This is the river that used to flow through our town." the mayor explains. "But for some reason, it suddenly stop running two weeks ago."
Jovan and Ash walks over to the dried up plants. Ash kneels down next to the plants.
"We can't produce wheat or vegetables." the mayor said.
"And you can't grow anything without water, right?" Brock asks him.
The mayor looks at him. "No." he answered. "This is a serious problem."
"Do you think the source of the problem is upstream?" Brock asks him.
Ash and Jovan walks up to them. "Then let's check it out." Jovan said.
"It's the least we can do after you made us lunch." Anna said to the mayor. "We'll find out what the problem is."
"Mr. Mayor, we'll be back as soon as we can." Ash said to the mayor.
"I should warn you that no one goes upstream anymore." the mayor replied. "There's no telling what you might find."
"That's okay." Ash assured him "We're prepared for anything."
"Pikachu." Pikachu smiled.
Everyone was walking for forty five minutes. Jovan and his friends were behind Ashm Pikachu, Misty and Brock.
"Why would the river stop flowing?" Jovan wondered.
July began thinking why would the river stop flowing. "Maybe there's a dam up ahead that's blocking the river." July suggested.
"I won't be surprised if there some people being led by an old lady to make that dam." Anna said. "Remember Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa?" Anna covers her mouth before she could say anything else.
"Be careful, Anna." Seth said in a low voice. "We can't let them know that we're not from this world."
"Let them know what, Seth?" Misty asked, looking over her shoulder.
Before Seth can lie, Brock notices something. "What's that?" Brock wondered.
Everyone stops walking. Standing in front of them was a bunch of thorn bushes that leads into a forest.
"The whole forest is covered in thorns." Brock said.
Slade walks by him and kneels down next to the thorns, noticing a small entrance. "There's a small entrance over here." Slade said. "It looks like you crawl through here."
"We'll have to split up." Seth said. "There may be several entrances that leads into the forest."
"See you on the other side then." Ash said as he, Pikachu, Misty and Brock crawls through the thorns.
Jovan hops onto the small hill and leads his friends a few feet away. "Here's another entrance." Jovan said.
Seth kneels down to take a look. "It looks like only two people can fit in at a time." Seth said as he stands back up.
"Anna and I will go first then." Jovan said. "Dragonair, I want you to fly on ahead above the forest and meet us on the other side."
"Nair." Dragonair nodded.
Jovan and Anna got on all fours and began to crawl through. As they were crawling, Anna got a cut from the thorn.
"Ouch." Anna grunted a bit as she was bleeding a little from her arm.
"Sharp aren't they?" Jovan asks her as the two of them stop.
"Yes." Anna answered.
"Stay close." Jovan smiles at her. He looks back at the path. "The space in here is getting narrow. I'll have Bulb to help us out. Bulb!" He throws the Poké Ball and Bulb appeared.
"Bulbasaur!" he shouted.
"Bulb, use Razor Leaf to cut down the thorns." Jovan ordered.
Razor-sharp leaves come out from under Bulbasaur's bulb and cut through the thorns. They continued crawling until they reach the end. Jovan returns Bulb inside his Poké Ball. Several feet in front of them was a dried up spring.
"A spring." Jovan smiled.
Then they hear someone snoring.
"Where's that snoring come from?" Anna wondered.
Jovan and Anna entered the dried up spring and went around the corner to see their friends standing in front of a big Pokémon. It is a huge, bipedal, dark blue-green Pokémon with a cream-colored face, belly, and feet. Its body is composed of mostly its belly, as its limbs are comparatively small. Its head is large with small, pointed ears and two pointed teeth protruding from its lower jaw. It has round feet, which both have three claws and a circular brown paw pad, and short arms with five claws on each hand.
"It's a Snorlax!" Brock exclaims.
"Snorlax?" Jovan wondered as he takes out his Poké Dex.
"Snorlax, a Sleeping Pokémon. Snorlax wakes only to eat."
"Doesn't sound hungry to me." Jovan said, taking a look at Snorlax.
"Hm?" Anna asked, noticing a little bit of water is flowing besides Snorlax. "Snolax is blocking the water, everyone, look."
"That explains why the river stopped flowing." Seth said.
"All we got to do is to wake it up." Jovan said.
"Let's do it." Misty said.
Ash got onto Snorlax and everyone began to wake Snorlax up.
"Wow." Brock said. "He's big."
Ash takes out a speaker. "Hey Snorlax!" Ash shouted. "Wake up!" Everyone covered their ears when Ash shouted.
"Snorlax." it said.
"It just won't wake up." Misty said.
"Then we have to move it." Brock suggested.
Before they began to move it, Jovan, Anna, July and Seth began to transform. Jovan transforms into a Bulbasaur. Anna transforms into a Pinsir. July transforms into Eevee. Then Seth transforms into a rhinoceros-like Pokémon with a body covered in gray, rocky plates. Its underside and rear are smooth, and it has four short legs with two claws on each foot. It has a triangular head with narrow, red eyes, two fangs protruding from its upper jaw, small, triangular openings on the upper sides, and a short horn on the tip of its snout. A spiked ridge runs along its back.
"Rhyhorn!" Seth exclaims.
"Nice!" Slade smiled. "You three have a new transformation."
"Bulba Saur." Jovan tells July, Seth and Anna. Seth went behind Snorlax, Anna grabs Snorlax's right foot and Jovan used Vine Whip on Snorlax's right arm July stood in front of her brother.
"Eevee!" July shouted. Jovan begins to pull hard as his sister pushes him while Anna pulls on his foot while Seth was trying to push Snorlax to get up.
Their friends watches them for a few seconds. Slade watches his friends let go and transforms back into humans.
"Man, it didn't even budge." Jovan said.
"I thought my new transformation would work." Seth replied.
"How come we can't move it?" Jovan wondered, taking out his Poké Dex.
"Snorlax is the heaviest species of all known Pokémon, with some weighing more than one thousand pounds."
"You got to be kidding." Jovan groans.
"There's no way we can move it." Misty said.
"Why don't we use a Poké Ball to catch it?" Brock suggested.
Ash smiled and ran forward a couple of feet. "Poké Ball, go!" Ash yelled, throwing the Poké Ball.
The Poké Ball bounces off of Snorlax and Snorlax didn't went inside.
"Well, that sucks." Jovan said.
"We have to move it or the town will run out of water." Misty said.
"Snorlax, wake up!" Ash shouted at the Sleeping Pokémon. "Come on!"
As they were trying to wake up the Sleeping Pokémon, Team Rocket and Team Neo was spying on them from the thorn bush.
"Hey, it's a Snorlax." James smiled.
The four villain's put their binoculars down and looks at each other.
"All right." Libby said. "We'll go after it in Formation Z."
"How should we wake it up?" Brock wondered.
"Good morning, everyone." James said behind them with a microphone in his hand. They all turn around as Jessie was filming with Libby and Sam behind her as they walk over to them. "Oh, well it's not morning anymore so who cares anyway. I'm here to report of the eagerly awakening of the Snorlax. Jessie?"
Jessie points the camera at the Sleeping Pokémon.
"Ah, its sleeping." James said. "Still sleeping. Watch closely everyone. This is how Snorlax sleeps. Doesn't it look cute? Now watch carefully as we wake up the Snorlax."
"Just what are you up to?" Jovan asked them.
"Prepare for trouble!"
"And make it double!"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all peoples within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!"
"Your team is so boring, I bet it put Snorlax into a deeper sleep." Jovan growls at them.
"That's what you think." Jessie smirks.
James takes out a radio and looks up in the sky to the Meowth Balloon flying towards them. "This is R2, calling R1, over."
"This is R1, all systems ready to go." Meowth said on the radio.
They all turn around and sees them.
"It's Meowth and Justin!" Jovan exclaims.
"The Ultra Balloon Bang Bang is about to begin." Meowth smiles.
The balloon was flew several feet above their heads. Several cables came out from underneath the basket.
"What are those things?" Ash wondered.
"Ha ha!" Libby laughed. "Snorlax is about to be on cable."
Jovan looks at Seth. "I hate to let them steal Snorlax." Jovan said. "But if they can get it out of the way for us..."
"Then the spring water will flow once again." Seth smiled.
Everyone grabs cable and set the cables on Snorlax's arms and legs.
"I never thought I see that Team Rocket, Team Neo and Team Twerps would work together." Justin smiled.
After setting the cables, they all stand back.
"Ok." James said on the radio. "Hoist away!"
The balloon begins to lift Snorlax.
"Steady, steady." James said. "Keep it up."
"We've got it now." Libby said.
"Almost there." Justin said, looking down below.
But Snorlaz's weight were too much for the cables and the cables snapped, forcing the balloon to go out of controll.
"The cables were too weak for Snorlax." Ash said.
"I knew this wouldn't work." Misty said angrily with her arms crossed.
"That's why your plans always mess up." Jovan said, looking t Team Rocket and Team Neo.
"What did you say?" Jessie growls angrily.
"It's the truth." Ash said.
The balloon crashed several feet away from them. Meowth and Justin moans as they crawl out of the wrekage.
"Looks like we're going have to wake it up after all." Meowth said.
Ash ties a blue alarm clock to a fishing rod and hold it up at Snorlax's face. The alarm went off and it didn't wake up.
"The alarm clock didn't work." Jovan said.
"Try and sleep through this!" Sam shouted, throwing a bucket of cold water on Snorlax.
The cold water landed on Snorlax.
"Alright." Libby smiled.
"No one can sleep through that." Justin smiled.
"Snor." Snorlax said, still asleep.
"Are you kidding me?!" Libby cried.
"Why won't it wake up?!" Meowth cried.
"I got an idea." Libby said. "In the story of Sleeping Beauty, the princess was awaken by a noble prince."
"That's it, Libby." Sam smiled. "Snorlax might just wake up with a kiss from a noble Pokémon."
"That might just work." Jovan said, walking up to them.
"Alright everyone, pick your noblest Pokémon and we'll try it out." James said to him.
Jovan nodded and Team Rocket and Team Neo walks by them as Jovan joins his friends. Both parties sat away from each other several feet. Ash sat in the middle between Brock and Misty with Pikachu on his lap while the others sat down on the ground.
"A Pokémon that's noble, huh." Anna wondered.
"What about Misty's Horsea?" Brock suggested.
"Yeah." Ash said, looking at his friend with a smile on his face. "That's right. It's like a prince's horse."
"What?" Misty asked annoyed. "You want Horsea to kiss that thing?"
Jovan looks at her. "It's our best bet." Jovan said.
Anna shakes her head as they all got up. Misty began searching through her red bag to find Horsea's Poké Ball.
"I think this-" Misty said, taking out a Poké Ball, but she was interupted as Psyduck appeared.
"Psy." Psyduck said, landing a kiss on Snorlax.
Everyone looked shocked.
"Oh no." Misty gasps.
Psyduck stops kissing Snorlax and fell on its head, rolling up to Misty.
"You dimwit duck!" Misty shouted angrily. "There's nothing noble about you!" She slaps Psyduck on the head very hard.
"Psy Yi Yi!" Psyduck shouted in pain before looking at Misty. Psyduck blushed.
Jovan looks over at Team Rocket and Team Neo then looks at Seth. "What Pokemon do you think they'll use?" Jovan asks him.
"They'll use the same ones like they always do." Seth said.
Anna imagine Team Rocket and Team Neo's Pokémon kissing the Sleeping Pokémon. "That's going to be a nightmare for Snorlax." Anna said.
Team Rocket and Team Neo stands up and face them.
"Our noble Pokémon." Jessie announced. "Ta da!"
Meowth was wearing prince clothes. He was wearing a gold crown on his head with a dashing red cape.
"Meowth is the only Pokémon with a powerful kiss to wake up Snorlax." Jessie said to them.
The others didn't say anything.
"Make sure to give it a big wet one." Sam said to Meowth.
Meowth turns around and looks up at his teammates. "Why do I have to be one the one to kiss it?!" Meowth shouted angrily.
"So we can bring bring it back to our two bosses." Jessie smiled nerversly.
"You're looking sharp, Meowth." Sam smiled nerversly.
"Keep your eyes to yourself." Meowth said angrily."
"Pikachu." Pikachu said, tilting his head to the right.
Jessie and James picks up Meowth and faces Snorlax.
"Pucker up." Jessie smiled.
"Give it a good kiss." Sam said.
"Disgusting!" Meowth exclaim, trying to break free. "I quit! The hygiene!" Meowth lost his strength as he kissed Snorlax on the lips. Jessie and James pulls him back.
"Lax." Snorlax said, looking like its about to wake up.
"The kiss!" Jovan exclaims.
"Did it work?!" Anna wondered.
Snorlax was a little disturbed from the kiss.
"Seems like Snorlax got a poison kiss from Meowth." July said.
"Would you wake up, you big lug?!" Meowth shouted angrily. He attacks Snorlax, but as soon as he landed on Snorlax, Meowth was sent flying and hits the ground.
"Lax." Snorlax muttered, rolling a little to the right.
Ash notices a small sign and picks it up.
"What did you find, Ash?" Brock asks him, walking up to Ash.
"Do not disturb." Ash read the sign.
"It's like those signs you used on hotel doors." Misty said.
"Check the other side." Slade said.
Ash turns over and read, "In Case Of Emergency, Please Use A Poké Flute To Wake."
"Poké Flute?" Misty wondered.
"That's right." Brock said, making the others look at him. "Now I remember. I heard once that you use a Poké Flute to wake up a Snorlax."
Everyone takes out their Poké Dex.
"The Poké Flute is used to wake sleeping Pokémon. Snorlax will only awaken to this flute."
"Oh." Jovan said.
"Oh yeah." July said. "That hippie has a Poké Flute."
"Then let's find him." Ash said and they all began to leave.
Team Rocket and Team Neo turns their heads and sees them leaving.
"Poké Flute?" Jessie asked confused.
"Hippie?" James asked confused.
The two of them looks at each other and then remembered the hippie from before.
"The music man!" Jessie and James exclaims.
"We just let them get ahead start." Libby growls in annoyance.
"Let's move." Sam said.
As everyone was running towards the hippie, Jovan notices that they were going for the hippie too. He stops running and turns around. His friends stops running and turns around while Ash, Brock, Misty and Pikachu ran on ahead..
"Jovan, what are you doing?" July asks her brother.
"We need to stop them before they get to the hippie." Jovan answered. "If we don't, Team Rocket and Team Neo will steal Snorlax."
"I'm with you." July nodded.
Seth, Anna and Slade turns around and face Team Neo as Team Rocket runs by them.
"Our friends will get to the hippie first before you guys." Jovan tells Team Neo.
"In your dreams." Libby snarls. "Kanua, go!" She throws a Poké Ball and Kanua appears.
"Let's go, Pidgeotto!" Jovan shouted, throwing a Poké Ball and Pidgeotto appeared.
"Geo!" Pidgeotto shouted.
"Use Gust!" Jovan ordered.
"Pidge!" Pidgeotto shouted, flapping his wings rapidly to create a miniture tornado.
"Na!" Kakuna gasps.
The tornado hits Kakuna, sending Kanua flying towards Team Neo. Team Neo was sent flying away into the tornado.
"Looks like Team Rocket is gusting off again!" Team Rocket yelled as they disappeared.
"Let's head back to Snorlax." Jovan said to his friends. "We'll wait for the others there."
"Right." July nodded.
They head back to Snorlax. After waiting for a few minutes, Ash, Pikachu, Misty and Brock came back with the hippie and they stood in front of Snorlax
"Please, play your Poké Flute to wake this Snorlax." Ash tells the hippe.
The hippie looks at Snorlax. "Hey, you've gotten a lot bigger since I saw you last, Snorlax." the hippie said. "Your growth is blowing my mind."
"You know this Snorlax?" Anna asks him.
The hippie turns to the left to look at her. "I just don't know it, this Snorlax is mine." the hippie answered before looking back at Snorlax. "This little dude loves to snooze. I can't even take it for a walk. I just come to wake it up once a month." Then the hippie looks back them. "I'm running a little bit late this month."
"You're Snorlax is stopping the water to flow into town." Jovan said. "We have to move it out of the way."
"No problem." the hippie said. "I can do it." The hippie takes out his Poké Flute and begins to play in front of the Sleeping Pokémon.
"Snor?" Snorlax muttered, its ears twitching. "Snorlax." It said, stretching its arms.
The Pokémon Trainers were surprised. Snorlax stands up.
"Looks like that did it." Seth said.
Snorlax walks away slowly.
"Later, Snorlax!" the hippie called to it.
"Look, the water is still not coming out." Misty said, noticing the water is still not flowing.
Seth notices there were thorns blocking the way. "The thorns are blocking the water!" Seth exclaims.
"Not more thorns!" Misty complains.
"We need to clear all the thorns so the river can flow back into town." Jovan said.
"Oh brother." Slade groans.
Before they can anything else, they all see Snorlax eating the vines.
"Chow down, Snorlax." the hippie said, standing next to Snorlax. "You got a case of the munchies."
They all walks up to the hippie and Snorlax.
"Snorlax is eating the thorns." July said.
"Thorns are Snorlax's favorite snack item." the hippie said.
Everyone takes out their Poké Dex.
"Snorlax's hunger isn't satisfied until it consumes 900 pounds of food. Then it goes back to sleep."
"No way!" Jovan exclaims as he looks back at Snorlax.
Everyone sat down as Snorlax continues to eat its snack. Several hours has passed and the thorns were gone as the river began to flow once again.
"The river is back to normal again." Jovan smiled.
After saying goodbye to the hippie and Snorlax, everyone went back to the town. The mayor was standing next to the river.
"Thank goodness." the mayor smiles with relief. "The river is flowing just like before. "How can we thank you?"
"It wasn't just us." Ash said.
"The Snorlax helped us too." Anna smiled.
The mayor looks at them. "This calls for a celebration." the mayor said. "We'll hold a special banquet."
"Yay!" July and Anna cheered.
"Pika!" Pikachu smiled.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket and Team Neo were walking through the forest with some brusies.
"I'm getting tired of always getting beaten." Jessie groans.
"I want to go to sleep like Snorlax." Sam moaned.
Then they notice the hippie waiting for them.
"Hello." Libby greeted the hippie. "What happened to Snorlax?"
"Mi amigo, Snorlax ate all those thorns and it's copping some Z's." the hippie answered.
Snorlax was leaning against a tree sleeping.
"It went back to sleep?" James moaned.
"Hm." the hippie nodded. "It'll be awhile before it wakes up."
"How long?" Libby asks him.
"Well, let's see." the hippie said, turning around to look at it. "This one wakes up once a moon."
"Awe..." Team Rocket and Team Neo groans.
A beeper was going off. The hippie takes out a small Snorlx watch. "Well, I gotta split." the hippie said, walking by them. "I got to wake up another Snorlax. Keep on chucking, dudes, heh heh."
Team Rocket and Team Neo collapses on the ground.
"Should we try to catch Snorlax?" Libby moans.
"I'm not kissing it." Justin groans.
"We'll kiss it goodbye." James moans.
Our heroes have awakened the Snorlax, unstopped the river and saved the town. And the Snorlax, well, do not disturb until feeding time that is.
Snorlax rolls to the right, making them scream in terror as Snorlax body slams them.
