Just the Way You Are
Yugi sat staring out to sea, happy with the life he was living. He had great friends, lived with his grandpa whom he loved dearly, and he was doing what he loved most.
He sighed, examining the setting sun.
"Hey," greeted a familiar voice beside him. "What'cha up to?"
Yugi looked into the blue eyes of his best friend, Joey Wheeler. "Not a lot. Just... chilling."
"Mind if I chill with you?" Joey wondered.
"Not at all." Yugi grinned.
He sat beside the King of Games. "You've been thinking a lot recently. Is something wrong?"
"No, everything's fine."
"Oh, good." Joey sat twiddling his thumbs. "Yug?"
"Hm?" Yugi replied.
"Don't change."
"What?" asked Yugi, slightly shocked by the sudden comment.
"Just... stay the way you are," Joey repeated.
"Oh. Um, I'll try."
"I can't imagine how life would've been if I hadn't met you. You're everything I need. You're a friend, a brother figure, a shoulder to cry on. You're there when I'm down to reassure me and when I'm at my all-time high you're there to share those memories with me."
Yugi blushed beneath the sunset sky. "That's what friends are for."
Joey sighed. "Yeah, well, I'd just like to say that I'm here for you too."
"Thanks, Wheeler. That's just what I need."
Joey smiled. "No. Thank you, Yugi."
Yugi giggled. "You're welcome."
He turned his attention back to the orange sunset, even more content that before.
'No, Joey. Stay just the way YOU are. I never want any of this to change. Never.'
