Chapter 2

Revali POV

The dark cloud from before is spreading, becoming visible from ground level. Ganon is spreading fast. I want to look back and see the looks on the faces of my fellow Champions, but alas, I still cannot get the image of Ganon out of my head. This feeling..could this be fear? Bah! Me? Afraid? Sure Ganon..wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but still, nothing I can't handle.

"Let's stop wasting time!" Daruk exclaims, shocking me out of my internal monologue "We're gonna need everything we got to take that thing down!"

I hold back an eye roll. They might need everything, but once I get to Medoh, Ganon is going to wish he stayed in whatever hole he was sleeping in these past 10 000 years.

"Now Champions! To your Divine Beasts! Show that swirling swine who's boss!" Well well well, I guess Daruk can be serious when he wants to.

"Link will need to meet Ganon head-on when we attack! This needs to be a unified assault!" And then he goes and says something like that.

"Little guy!" Daruk said, addressing Link directly "You get to Hyrule Castle!"

Link nods and I barely stifle a scoff. I already knew that Link was out of his league, but after seeing Ganon in all his heinous glory well…let's just say even I would be somewhat hesitant going to battle with it. I would still prevail obviously, but anybody else…

"You can count on us for support, but it's up to you to pound Ganon into oblivion!" Daruk finishes.

"Come. We should go." Urbosa says as she puts her hands on Zelda's shoulders. "We need to get you someplace safe."

Zelda seems to snap out of whatever trance she was in and decides to speak up.

"No!" she says as she pulls away from Urbosa "I am not a child anymore! I may not be of much use on the battlefield. But there must…There must be something I can do to help!"

Everyone goes silent, and Daruk scratches the back of his head awkwardly.

"Little Bird, be reasonable," Urbosa says, trying once again to hold Zelda, but Zelda takes another step back.

"No Urbosa! I am Princess Zelda Of Hyrule, and I will not hide while my kingdom needs me!"

"But Princess, if something happens to you, then all our efforts will be in vain," Mipha says calmly, but anxiously.

"So I am to hide away under some rock while Ganon lays siege to my home? My people?"

"No, we're not saying that, it's just…" Daruk stumbles over his words, "Little guy, help me out!" Daruk says, and Link opens his mouth in shock. The other look at him, and Link is clearly uncomfortable, which admittedly is very amusing. But unfortunately, there are bigger things at stake. We can't fight Ganon if we are fighting amongst ourselves. So I suppose it is once again up to Revali to get things back on track.

"Really, we don't have time for this!" I say. The others look at me surprised (except for Link of course).

"If the princess wants to fight, then she can fight. She's put in the work, and who knows? Maybe this power of yours will unlock at the last minute. After all, there is no greater motivator than self-preservation."

"Revali, you-"

"And besides" I cut in "You know more about that Sheikah Tech than anybody else right?" I ask, looking expectantly at Zelda.

"Yes!" She says with confidence

"Well then, perhaps the good people at Hyrule Castle will be in need of your expertise when it's time to deploy those Guardians, or whatever they're called," I say dismissively.

"Besides," I say with a smirk, turning to face Link "if the chosen one is to stand any kind of chance against Ganon, he's gonna need all the backup we can muster."

Everyone is silent again, but now everyone is looking at me. Now granted, I'm used to people looking at me, but it's usually in awe or envy. Whatever emotion these people are conveying now, it is foreign to me.

"What? What are you all looking at?" I demand defensively

"That might just be the nicest thing I've ever heard you say," Daruk says incredulously.

"Definitely," Mipha confirms

"What are you two on about? I'm nice!"

Urbosa lets out a laugh, and Daruk joins in, and soon everyone is laughing, including surprisingly myself. I think I even saw Link crack a smile. For a second, it's almost as if we're able to forget about the impending battle. For a second, we almost feel like…a family.

But then, the illusion of happiness is broken, as Ganon lets out another screech. All the Champions faces become serious once again, and we remember what we must do.

"Alright," Urbosa starts "Enough talking, we have a war to win! Little Bird, you go with Link. Make sure all the Guardians are ready to go, then proceed to Castle Proper. The rest of you, once you arrive at your Divine Beasts, send out a message saying you are ready. If there are any problems, make sure to signal that as well. And once each of us is in position-"

"We're gonna light that thing up!" Daruk says, pumping his hand into the air.

All the Champions nod, and gradually begin to go on their way. It's clear that some of us have more we want to say, but no doubt realize that we have wasted enough time as it is. I take to the skies once again, and before I fly off to Vah Medoh, I take one last look at each of the Champions and the Princess. These people… the ones I had been forced to call my comrades and had begun to even consider my friends. As I watch each of them run off, I can't shake this eerie feeling inside. As if there is something about to go terribly wrong.

No, I chide myself, You can't think like that. The others will handle themselves just fine. And if they don't, worst case scenario I just go and do it for them.

With that comforting thought, I fly off to Vah Medoh, trying to avoid looking at the swirling mass of Calamity Ganon.
