A young Johann sat at the kitchen table, picking at the porridge his mother took her time to make. He had a saddened expression on his face, or maybe he was just deep in thought. Hearing the door open and shut gently, like a mother trying not to awaken a sleeping baby, he looked up and out to the small hallway leading to the living room. Mrs. Faust his mother was smiling up at him as she sat, perched on the edge of the couch with a calendar in the palm of her hand. Johann noticed that a date was circled, he strained his eyes to see that the date ' May 14th.' His heart skipped a beat and he ran up the stairways and locked his door shut.
'Oh No, How could I have forgotten!' he screamed inside his head, as he rummaged through the pile of clothing looking for a blank piece of paper. The skinny child succeeded on finding the page but now he had no ink to write with.
"Father's office should have something." he spoke to himself, almost hesitating to do so. After a few minutes of thought, he had made up his mind and chose to go. There he stood, inside the cluttered office of his fathers, it smelt strongly of mold and something that must have died in the corner.
Immediatly he opened a drawer and found nothing, nothing but a small book bound together by tweed. He traced his fingers over the lettering and pocketed it for later 'He won't miss it', grabbed the bottle of ink and ink pen that lay under a pile of paper with confusing scribble on it and scurried out of the room.
Sprawling out on his single bed in the corner of the dusty room he called his secret getaway , he began to write a little note "Happy Mothers Day." It was messy but it was something , then an idea sparked in his mind and he went into his closet and pulled out a bulky cloth that was tied into a knot in at the top. He opened the cloth so it was laying infront of him on the blanket and he gazed upon a broken vase his mother loved so dearly.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a few euro and headed down the streets of Berlin Germany to buy some super glue, allowing him to put together the vase he broke while playing ball inside. After doing so he went home and fixed it, wrapped it in some tissue paper and truged down the stairs to the living room where his mother lay on the couch reading a novel.
He nudged her softly and she looked over to him with her soft blue eyes and smiled.
"Mom, I thought you would like this as a gift for mothers day," he handed her the card and the vase which was concealed and took a step back, watching her rip the card open and read it. She smiled and nodded in thanks then reached for the package opening it and covered her mouth with her hands in surprise and shock.
"Happy Mothers Day" said Johann with a big grin, she gave him a wet kiss on the cheek and hugged him tightly whispering a Thank-you into his ear and set the book down to make dinner.
"I'll call you down when supper is ready okay Johann?" she said sweetly as he went on his way to his room, he looked over his shoulder and nodded.
There it was, the black book with the tweed bindings on the left side, taunting him as it lay on his bed side table. He reached for it and said the title to himself. "The Guide to Necromancy..."
Authors Note- Yes, I know this was a crappy fanfic. I just thought I would write it, boredom gets the better of me. Oh well, I guess Flames are going to come and go so I'll accept them.
