Feldt

Feldt sat in Mileina's room, nervously looking at her appearance in the mirror, Sumeragi working on her makeup while her mom watched on approvingly. It had been a week or so since the destruction of the orbital elevator, and luckily for the wedding and the crew, they have had no attacks on the ship, giving them time to rest and prepare for the ceremony, which had partially been accelerated due to the Break Pillar incident. It would have to be on the ship due to safety, but her mother and Sumeragi had agreed to stay on earth for a week, hiding out in a place that was easily defendable.

She was trying not to move so much as Sumeragi finished up doing her makeup. Her stomach was full of butterflies as it sunk in that this was the day that she was marrying the man she loved. 'I am marrying Setsuna!' She knew it would be a makeshift ceremony, but she didn't care. She was celebrating her union to Setsuna with the crew of the ship. Nothing could be more meaningful to her. A warmth came to her cheeks as Sumeragi stepped away, having finished applying the makeup.

Her eyes widened when she saw the result. It was expertly done, and Feldt could tell it was done to bring out her eyes, and the blush gave her cheeks a rosy look. A tear threatened to come out and Marlene chuckled, "Thankfully we went for waterproof makeup. God knows we would have issues if we didn't."

Sumeragi smiled warmly at her, "C'mon, stand up so you can see the full picture." Feldt walked over to the full body mirror Mileina had, and she was overwhelmed when she saw herself. Her hair was asymmetrical, the right side having a long hanging strand and the left a series of braids keeping her hair off her neck. Lastly, she had a yellow flower in her hair attached to the braids, one that she knew grew in the middle east where Setsuna grew up.

The dress Setsuna had bought her fit her just right, the color shifting from yellow at the top to peach at the bottom. It revealed a bit of her cleavage, but it was tasteful, and the dress hugged the rest of her body. 'It's so strange to not be in my uniform. Though to be fair it is my day.' Feldt chuckled, happiness flowing through her. 'We never really do get much of an opportunity to wear anything else, do we?'

Feldt resisted crying, which was harder than she expected, and looked at the two older women in the room, her voice thick with emotion, "I can't…I didn't imagine that I would…"

Marlene walked up to her daughter, wrapping one arm around her and lifting her chin up, a smile on her mother's face, "You look beautiful. You are going leave Setsuna breathless. If he doesn't say you are an angel or goddess, I would be surprised."

Feldt looked nervously at the ground, "Really? I am just…so nervous and I don't know if he will like it and-"

Sumeragi placed a hand in Feldt's shoulder, "Feldt, if Setsuna doesn't like how you look, then he is blind. And besides, you have been together for what? A year? If he found you beautiful before, this is a step up from that." Feldt could feel the heat in her face as Sumeragi said that. Setsuna had bought this for her and now she finally got a chance to wear it. 'He wouldn't have bought it for me if he didn't think I wouldn't like it.'

Feldt brought the Sumeragi into the embrace she had with her mother. Sumeragi happily joined in and Marlene just rolled her eyes but smiled. Feldt closed her eyes, enjoying the warmth from the two closest women in her life.

The hug broke and Marlene looked into Feldt's eyes as she spoke softly, "Your father would have loved to see you getting married."

Feldt smiled back at her mom, happiness filling her chest, "I wish he could have been here too. But I'm sure he's watching us, right?" Her voice filled with nervousness, "It's really the day, huh?" She looked up at her mother, "Is this what you felt like when you married dad?"

Marlene chuckled, a nostalgic smile on her face, "When I married your father, it was the happiest day of my life, before the day I gave birth to you. Though it was a smaller affair admittedly, just me, Ruido, Chall and Ian. I was just as nervous then as you are now. But I never regretted marrying him. Not for one second." Marlene kissed Feldt on the forehead, "Today is going to be perfect. You are going to be married to the love of your life, and get to relax and enjoy yourself. I can certainly appreciate being able to relax."

Sumeragi smiled warmly at Feldt, "All of us need to grasp happiness as much as possible. I'm happy you and Setsuna are taking this step. To have the people you love at your side…is something worth cherishing." Her voice wavered, a bittersweet tone in it.

Feldt looked between the two women, a beaming smile on her face, "I will cherish him as long as I live." Her curiosity was piqued by Sumeragi's tone, but right now it was not important.

Sumeragi looked at her mini terminal, and then spoke to Feldt and Marlene, "Well it looks like it's getting close. I need to head out and you should be called up soon." Feldt remembered Sumeragi was actually officiating the wedding, in lieu of an actual priest. They weren't really the navy, but it was close enough and no one would question it.

Feldt nodded and Sumeragi gave her one last smile as she exited the room. Feldt took a deep breath and looked at her mother, "Well, now we wait."

Marlene nodded, chuckling, "That's the worst part, isn't it?"

"Yeah." Feldt scanned the room, taking it all in. The giddiness was rising in her. Everyone was waiting for her. For the ceremony to start. It was also so much, yet she couldn't help but almost be vibrating with excitement. It was getting harder and harder to not cry. 'No, I have to wait. I have to stay strong.'

Something strange caught her eye as she passed by the mirror, pacing. She swore she could see Christina, in her normal outfit, giving her a wide smile, eyes filled with happiness next to her in the mirror. Her former friend gave her a thumbs up and Feldt blinked, Christina disappearing. Feldt closed her eyes, basking in the feeling. Christina would have loved to be here, to see Feldt getting married. 'I wish I could have saved you. But I knew you wanted me to live, to be happy. I'll honor your wish, for the rest of my life.'

Setsuna

Setsuna stood in his and Feldt's room, playing with his tie. Setsuna didn't have a tuxedo to wear, but he found the next best thing. He had a button-down shirt and dark khaki pants from an undercover operation he did. It was more business wear, but it would have to do. He wanted to dress up a little more for his soon to be wife. She deserved more than his uniform. 'Wish I thought to get a suit back then. She deserves me in more than just basic business wear.'

He was admittedly nervous. It was always one thing to say you were going to do something. It was entirely different to actually be doing the thing that he promised. He wanted this day to be perfect for Feldt. He wanted her to know how much he cared and wanted her.

The door slid open, and Setsuna turned around to see Tieria standing there, giving him an even look, "Setsuna, you know you need to be in the room waiting for the ceremony start. So why are you in here?"

Setsuna took a deep breath, trying to let out some of the nervousness going through him, "I guess I'm just a bit nervous is all."

"Don't tell me you are getting cold feet? Because if you are, I might have to shoot you and drag you to the ceremony myself." Tieria smiled at him, Setsuna hearing the sarcasm in his voice.

Setsuna shook his head, "No, I still want to marry her. I'm just worried this day will somehow mess up or I don't make her happy." He looked at his wounded shoulder. 'Hope that the wound doesn't act up.'

Tieria rolled his eyes, "Setsuna, I don't think Feldt will care if the day goes perfectly. She wants to be with you." He put a hand on Setsuna's shoulder, "That is the most important thing about today. Everything else is secondary. Though admittedly the food is a bonus."

Setsuna laughed, the tension leaving his body, "I suppose you are right. I'm probably overthinking this."

The purple-haired meister nodded, removing his hand from Setsuna, "I remember when overthinking and wanting everything to be perfect was my thing. It's certainly been a long and winding path since then."

Setsuna smiled, "Yeah." Setsuna's voice picked up some softness, "Back then Feldt and I were just trying to figure out how to be friends and I was trying to learn to open up. Now Feldt and I are getting married. Time does fly by."

Tieria looked at the door then back to Setsuna, "I think it's time we get going." Tieria gave Setsuna a mock glare, "Just remember that if I see any reluctance, I will have to make sure to make sure Feldt isn't hurt. It's the job of a brother to do that."

Setsuna just smirked, "Yeah, I know. But honestly, I'm more afraid of Marlene. I'm public enemy number one if I ever hurt Feldt."

Tieria just chuckled at that, "You aren't wrong. Not a lot of mercy in that woman for her enemies."

Setsuna stood in the center of the briefing room, which had been agreed upon where the wedding and ceremony would take place. The rest of the crew was in the room, only Marlene and Feldt not here. There weren't really any seats, but there were a few makeshift tables that had food on it. Setsuna watched one of the doors with interest, trying to stay relaxed as he waited for everything to start.

He could see Ian and Sumeragi talking, smiling and Allelujah watching Soma with sadness and regret. 'I don't know what happened, but she's been like this for a week. I wonder what caused her to become Soma again.' Soma stood in a corner, seemingly avoiding any real interaction. He felt a twinge of sympathy for their super soldier comrade. If Feldt had been like that with him, he would be feeling just as lost as Allelujah.

Sumeragi suddenly moved right in front of Setsuna, breaking away from her conversation with Ian, who went to try to calm down his daughter. The older woman smiled at him, and music began to play in the room, one he recognized from his time on earth. 'I don't know the name of it, but it's the one that always plays when there is a wedding a tv show or movie.' The door slid open, and the breath came rushing out of his lungs as he spotted Feldt. With the dress that he bought her and the makeup she had on, she looked like an angel. The room disappeared and all he could look at was the blushing face of his soon to be wife, looking more radiant and beautiful than he had ever seen her before. Nothing else mattered at this moment, but her.

She began to walk towards the center of the room, her mother next to her. As they reached the center, Feldt stood in front of him, Marlene giving the couple a smile before joining the rest of the crew. Setsuna had to resist tears as he stared into Feldt's sea-green eyes, who also seemed to be trying to hold back her tears. Sumeragi spoke up, smiling happily at the couple, who turned to face her, "We are all here to celebrate the marriage of our crew members Feldt Grace and Setsuna F. Seiei. I can't say that I ever expected to be officiating a wedding, but I'm honored to be here."

The crew laughed and Setsuna couldn't resist chuckling silently, Feldt joining him. Sumeragi continued, "I don't think we have any prayers or things like that to do, so I ask the bride and groom to say their vows."

Feldt turned to look at Setsuna, a happy tear running down her cheek, linking the two of their hands, "When we first started talking, I didn't know I would find the love of my life." She wiped a tear away as she continued, "When you went missing, I searched three years for you, looking for the other part of my heart. And when I found you…" She sniffled, squeezing their linked hands, "I never want to let go of you again. And I stand here, ready to promise myself to you forever, through thick and thin. I love you, Setsuna."

Setsuna felt his heart fill with immense warmth, her words hitting him hard enough to nearly bring him to tears. He could see more tears stream down her face, and he had to take a deep breath and remember his vows. He squeezed her hands as he spoke, "I didn't know it back then, but you are my angel, my light in the darkness. The future is ahead of me, but only with you at my side, and I at yours. I never want to leave your side. I am yours forever." Just like Feldt, tears streamed down his face, a warm smile on his face. He knew he had to wait, but right now he really, really wanted to kiss the woman he loved.

Both of them looked at Sumeragi, who was crying herself, "I think it's time to exchange rings!" Both the couple turned to see a very excited Mileina walking up to the two of them with a box. When she reached them, she opened up the box, revealing two simple gold bands. Setsuna could tell Mileina was close to sobbing, causing him to chuckle at the overly excited girl. He took one of the bands and gently put it on Feldt's ring finger, the love of his life hiccupping from excitement. As it reached the base of her finger, he caressed her cheek with his free hand, pure happiness radiating from her eyes.

Her eyes widened. She nervously, but happily, put the other band on Setsuna's ring finger. She grinned back at him, the realization hitting him that he was seconds away from marrying the love of his life.

Mileina stepped back from the couple and Sumeragi spoke the words that he had been waiting to here, "I now announce you Mr and Mrs. Seiei! You may now kiss the bride." Setsuna didn't hesitate to bring his now wife into a soft kiss, tasting the salt from her tears on his lips. But that only added to it, her kissing him back with love and devotion, more tears coming from both her and him. He sent all the love he could through the kiss, hoping she would understand how devoted he was to her. There was a strange tingling in the back of her head, an intense amount love coming from that, but he ignored it for now. He had more important things to worry about. He wrapped his arms around her waist, her arms encircling his neck.

As the kiss broke, he looked her deep in the eyes, "I love you, Feldt Seiei."

She giggled, tears happily streaming down her face, eyes red and puffy, "And I love you Setsuna F. Seiei." His heart rate increased with those words, his cheeks heating up. After all he had gone through in his life, he had the love of his life in his arms. 'And I'll never let go again.'

Feldt

Feldt could only smile brightly as she looked into Setsuna's eyes. 'Setsuna is now my husband!' All the nervousness she had before evaporated as soon as she heard "You may kiss the bride." Her heart was bursting with happiness as Setsuna held her, a bright smile on his face. She pulled him into another quick kiss and as she pulled away from it, she whispered in his ear, "I can't wait till after." She could see Setsuna blush red, her face up to her ears matching the color. 'I hope he knows I have plans for tonight. Very long plans.' Chuckling to herself, she turned to face the rest of the crew for the first time in the wedding, as the focus had only been on Setsuna. They all seemed to be some degree of happy as they looked at her and Setsuna. It was strange to be the center of attention, but it was what this wedding was all about. Her and Setsuna.

Mileina was sobbing happily, her father shaking his head at it, but holding her. 'I should have expected Mileina to be the one to sob out of happiness. I wonder what she will be like if she ever gets married.' She next moved to her mother, who seemed to be pretending to not cry, even though it was clear her eyes were a bit red. She would have to tease her mother about it later. Saji and Lasse weren't crying, but she could see both of them looking at the couple approvingly. 'It's nice to see Saji has warmed up to us.'

Lyle seemed to be giving Setsuna a thumbs up, Anew silently chiding him, but giving Feldt a warm smile of her own. And lastly, Allelujah seemed to be happy, though there was a lingering sadness in his expression. 'This whole Soma/Marie situation must be really weighing down on him.' She knew the super soldiers needed to resolve their own issues, but her heart said really wanted to help out her old comrade. 'I hope they can resolve it. I hate seeing him in so much pain.'

Taking a deep breath, she looked at Setsuna, who smiled at her, then looked back at the crew in the room, "Thank you all for being here. I am happy to have this in such a dark time. Now I think it's time we relax and have some food! And Setsuna owes me a dance!"

The crew laughed and Setsuna spoke, smiling fondly at her, "You know I'm not a good dancer."

She just smiled back at him, "Well it's a good time to figure it out." Setsuna shook his head and she rolled her eyes as she spoke again, to the group, "Setsuna and I are happy to be in pictures." The redhead immediately noticed Mileina with wild eyes, Sumeragi already pulling out her terminal unit and lastly her mother ready to jump onto this train. 'This should be a fun time.'

Marlene

Marlene stood against the wall nearest to the door, looking at the reception as it was in full swing. After Feldt had announced it had started, a happy atmosphere had taken over the room, everyone relaxed for the first time since the collapse of the orbital elevator. Feldt and Setsuna had shared a dance, the couple not the most graceful, but she could see the love and affection between the two of them. And Feldt had even convinced Marlene to dance with Setsuna once, which both her and Setsuna had agreed was awkward, and they wouldn't mention that ever again.

Marlene, despite her loosening up, still preferred to watch the proceedings, enjoying the moment of relaxation that they currently had. One thing that drew her attention was the spirited conversation between Anew and Lyle, though she didn't know what they were talking about due to the conversations going on in the room. 'When did those two start talking?' She had to admit it wasn't a good feeling in her gut seeing them talk. Granted by this point, she trusted Lyle enough to know he wasn't going to betray them. His loyalty to Katharon hadn't gone away, but the group had been useful, so he wouldn't begrudge him talking to them. Though she still didn't like his casual and jokey attitude.

Marlene didn't have any reason these two couldn't get close. And if they were flirting like she thinks they are, then she would be a hypocrite to be against it. Her daughter and new son-in-law were casually chatting with Mileina in her peripheral vision. But once again, her gut instincts troubled her as she looked at the sight of Anew and Lyle. And for once she hated it. Even Lyle and Anew deserved to be happy, despite her dislike and distrust of them. She would have to keep herself controlled around the two.

Her sight was then drawn to the two super soldiers, who were talking, though she could tell the conversation was tense. 'Poor Soma and Marie. They lost the father figure who took care of them.' As a parent, she understood how devastating her loss would be to her daughter. Marlene smiled sadly. 'It's unfortunate she had to have that happen when she had helped stop the loss of life from the elevator. Apparently no good deed goes unpunished.' Soma had apparently taken over with the death of Sergei Smirnov, who had died being stabbed by his son. 'Just another tragedy due to the A-Laws and innovators.'

But she could see a slight smile on Soma's face, despite all that had happened. It seemed the good mood of the room had reached her. Allelujah was trying to smile at her, but Marlene could tell that he was mostly faking it. She wondered how anyone could fix it but then chuckled bitterly. Marlene was not the type to be good with people. That was more Sumeragi, Mileina or Feldt. She only hoped the situation would resolve before it got truly bad between the couple.

Marlene heard the sound of someone launching off a rail and turned her head to see Sumeragi approached her, a flask in her hand and smile on her face. Sumeragi nodded at her, "Well well well, what is Ms. Commander doing just watching everything? Shouldn't you be mingling?"

Marlene rolled her eyes, smiling, "And what is our tactical forecaster doing joining me as a wallflower?"

Sumeragi grinned on one side of her mouth, "Touché. I just wanted to see how you were doing. We haven't had much time to talk since I left Mileina's room." She looked at the rest of the room, "How do you feel about having a new son-in-law?"

Marlene shrugged, "I was expecting this eventually. There is a reason I had those rings resized. It was all worth it to see that smile on Feldt's face." Marlene blushed slightly, "And I admittedly have come to like Setsuna as almost a son. And he's probably the only person more protective of my daughter than me." Marlene's voice wavered, "I hope he gets better soon."

"I'm sure his arm will be fine soon enough." Sumeragi nodded and smiled at her, "You should have been there four years ago when he was younger. Back then, I had no idea about his developing friendship and relationship with Feldt, but he was a frustrating meister to deal with."

Marlene quirked her head, "I saw the mission reports. Opening the cockpit on a mission or rushing off to fight Trinities. Must have been irritating at the time." She chuckled, "Can't say I haven't had my own frustrations with him."

Sumeragi just smiled, "That is certainly true. Granted now I can see why he did all of that, but the tactical forecaster in me was incredibly frustrated by the impulsive teenager." She then looked thoughtfully at the married couple before looking at Marlene, "It was actually strange looking back on it. Setsuna became relatively more friendly and Feldt began to smile and talk more as they got to know each other. Heartwarming in hindsight, but something curious when you lacked context."

Marlene placed a hand on the tactical forecaster's shoulder, "Isn't that what all change is without context?"

"I suppose." Sumeragi then shifted to a mischievous grin, "So, what do you think your daughter has planned for the post reception. She has been giving him some…salacious looks."

The blonde let out a groan, "Please don't remind me. I don't need to think about my daughter's sex life. I just want to stay in my bubble pretending it's not happening."

Sumeragi laughed, "Thank god the rooms are sound-proofed, otherwise their neighbors would very annoyed."

Marlene couldn't help but join her in laughing. As the two women's laughter died off, Ian approached the two of them, an annoyed look on his face. Marlene smirked at him, "Trying to control your daughter?"

He nodded wearily, "Yes. Sometimes I forget how much energy she had. At least she's stopped badgering the married couple." He looked up at Marlene, "Oh, Linda wanted to congratulate you on having a new son-in-law and future grandkids. Are we sure she isn't pregnant already? We know how active the two are."

Marlene groaned at that, "Not yet, hopefully. We don't need a pregnant Feldt or a grandchild to deal with."

Ian laughed, "I'm sure Linda is joking, though you can never know with kids as active as those two."

Marlene looked at him in annoyance and Sumeragi chuckled, "I already teased her about their sex life. I think you can lay off on that."

"Fine." Ian smiled happily, "You know, this wedding was planned at a perfect time. Morale wasn't exactly great, so I think we all needed something to show us life continues in the face of tragedy. And all because two closed off kids started talking to each other."

Marlene shrugged, "Life is full of strange coincidences. It's no stranger than waking me up from a ten-year coma."

Ian scanned over her, before looking at her curiously, "You seem so much more…relaxed. Calm. What happened to the commander with a pole up her ass?"

Marlene blushed as she looked at Sumeragi appreciatively, "Let's just say that I got a reminder that I can open up to people and still be a hardass. I still have that pole ready to hit people with, just in case."

"Right. Couldn't forget about that." Ian then looked over at Sumeragi, nodding, "Well it's good us adults are here to watch over these kids."

Marlene sighed, "You do know that most of the crew are adults besides your daughter."

"You know what I mean. But as far as I'm concerned, they are all kids." Ian grinned as he looked over the rest of the room, Marlene spotting Lasse taking a picture with Feldt and Setsuna.

Sumeragi rolled her eyes, "That's because you are older than the rest of us. You might as well be a dinosaur."

Ian looked at her, mildly offended, "Hey! I'm not that old!"

Sumeragi smirked, "And you know, Allelujah was right. Looking at your wife, there ought to be a law."

Ian huffed defensively, glaring at Sumeragi. Marlene couldn't help but laugh. She hadn't felt so light in a long time. Tomorrow they would be going to space and there would be more battles in the future, but right now everyone could relax and enjoy themselves. 'We will make it through this. I will make sure everyone here and the rest of humanity can have peace like this.'
