Chapter 2: Meet Jet Pawser

The small child figure continued to walk quietly on the sidewalk until going down an abandoned subway stairway which was blocked off by yellow caution tapes, closed signs, and safety cones. The figure squeezes past the obstacles and proceeds down into the dimly lit empty station. The subway station was abandoned a few months ago due to Los Angeles not having enough money to keep it running, so now it sits alone quietly not running and slowly gets messy with trash and dust over time. On the platform of the station, a non-working subway train riddled with trash and graffiti sat quietly on the tracks. The train was also abandoned due to it having constant mechanical problems which the city also couldn't pay for.

The figure makes his way to the platform and into the open doors of the first car of the train. Once inside, the figure takes off his hood revealing himself as a small anthro wolf pup. He was a 4 year old male wolf pup child with dark grey fur with a white tipped fluffy tail, pointed ears with white fluff inside them, white hands and feet, a white muzzle, and white eye balls with ocean blue irises.

This pup's name was Jet Pawser and he was currently a homeless child living in a subway train in an abandoned subway station. How Jet became homeless is because he had run away from home. But for Jet, it wasn't and did not feel like home at all.

Jet's backstory

Just 2 months after Jet was born, his anthro wolf father passed away from a terminal illness. His anthro wolf mom became so distraught and depressed upon losing her husband that she couldn't keep herself together. Instead of seeking help or grieving counseling, his mother fell into alcoholism. Overtime it was hard for Jet to live with his widowed mom. Everyday he had to wake up to his mom serving him breakfast while crying with a bottle of beer in hand. He doesn't remember his mom ever waking up with a smile or her giving him hugs and kisses.

By the time Jet turned 3 years old, his mom fell deeper into drinking. So deep that she had lost her job and her personality and body appearance started to change in a bad way. Jet always stayed home due to his mom not enrolling him into preschool and it was sad and heartbreaking for Jet to see his mom fall into a deep mess.

6 months after Jet turned 4 years old, everything was going downhill for him. The house he was living in became so messy with beer bottles and trash scattered everywhere and the front door had eviction notices. His mom was now always drunk and bad tempered.

One evening Jet's mom was laying on the couch watching TV with, of course, another bottle of beer in hand, wearing sweatpants and a stained t-shirt. Jet decided to go up to his mom and try to talk to her.

"Mom? Mom are you okay?...Mom?"

"Go away! Mommy's busy!" His mom shouted as she pushed him away hard enough to make him fall to the floor

This hurt Jet's feelings so hard that he hid his face in his knees and started crying

"Hey be quite!" his mom shouted as she threw a piece of trash at him

Jet decided he couldn't take it anymore. He could not live with his mom like this. He gets up and runs to the front door of the house. He opens the door and books it away from the house while crying his eyes out. His mom didn't seem to care as she kept on drinking while watching TV. Jet continued to run while crying through a couple of empty blocks until he was in an area north of central LA. Suddenly it started to rain hard. Jet quickly forgot about his mom and started looking around for shelter. He scanned the area he was in until his eyes landed on the closed subway station. He hesitated on going in at first but he didn't care, he wanted to get out of the rain badly. After building up some courage, Jet runs down the stairs from the street and into the station where he sees the unused broke down train. Jet goes into the empty train and shakes off all the rainwater.

Ever since Jet ran away from his alcoholic mom, he has made the subway train as his own home after discovering it and has lived in it for a while. Everyday Jet had to go out and steal essential items for himself since he was now homeless. It was hard at first but overtime Jet taught himself on how to smoothly steal things without people noticing in a similar way like Mr. Wolf. Whenever Jet steals things from others, he doesn't feel a slight guilt due to his loveless and empty heart.

Back to present

Jet sighs in sadness as he looks at his living space in the train. There was a dirty blanket with a pillow on the seats, a small pile of wallets, cash, and shoplifted food on the floor that Jet had stolen overtime, and a small lantern sitting on the other side of the car.

Jet proceeds to take off his hoodie revealing his t-shirt, remove his shoes, shutoff the lantern and climb onto the seats pulling the blanket over himself and rest his head on the pillow. Jet slowly drifts to sleep as tears shed out of his eyes. Some nights Jet would cry himself to sleep due to his sad, lonely, and miserable living condition.
