Chapter 5: Saved by the fox
Two days later
Jet was currently sitting under an apple tree in another city park eating an apple he had picked. Instead of shoplifting food, Jet now lives on apples he could freely pick off of trees. After finishing his apple, Jet gets up and leaves the park to go on with his day of...well living alone.
Later that night
Jet was now walking back to his subway on a dimly lit street looking down in sheer sadness. He was feeling so lonely and miserable and really wished a miracle would happened. He wished so badly that he had a mother to love him and raise him. Little did Jet know is that tonight his wish would come true.
After 10 minutes of walking, Jet makes it to his subway hideout and proceeds down into the station, but what Jet didn't know is that he was in for a very nasty surprise.
He walks across the dark empty platform towards his subway train home. He picks up the battery powered LED lantern by the open train doors and turns it on illuminating the area.
Jet walks into the train to his living area and is welcomed by a very disturbing sight.
*GASP!*
Jet's face lights up in shock.
There were spiders and spiderwebs everywhere. Somehow hundreds of spiders managed to seek refuge in Jet's living area. His makeshift bed along with everything else was now covered in webs. (These spiders are not big as Ms. Tarantula btw)
Jet could not believe his eyes, his makeshift home was officially taken over by subway spiders. He did not have arachnophobia but was scared enough by the sight he was seeing.
*Scuttle scuttle* Jet looks down and sees a spider crawling right towards his paw feet.
This was enough to make Jet drop the latern and book it hard out of the subway station as fast as his little wolf body could allow him.
Once out of the station and onto the street, Jet keeps running on the sidewalk until suddenly...
*TRIP, THUD!* "OW!"
Jet somehow trips and falls landing face first onto the concrete impacting the right side of his face very hard. He gets back up while clutching his right cheek in intense pain.
"Ow...*sniff* OW!" Jet cried trying to endure the very hard agonizing feeling on his face
Jet sits down on the sidewalk to pull himself together. He takes his hand off his face and to his horror, he sees blood on his paw fingers. Somehow the fall made a big gash on his cheek with blood seeping out of it.
Jet was now in a very bad situation. His subway hideout is infested with spiders thus making him not have a place to sleep for the night and now he's got an open flesh wound on his face that could get infected and make him very sick without medical attention.
Jet started to break down and cry in despair while hugging his knees. He felt he was not going to be able to survive through the night. He felt like he was done for.
Meanwhile
Diane Foxington was driving on her way home in her small yellow car. She smiles while humming a tune to herself. She turns right onto a street and that's when something catches her eye on her right. She sees a small childsize figure curled up all alone on the sidewalk.
"Huh? What's that?"
Instinctively she pulls over to the curb and gets out of the car to investigate. She cautiously approaches the wolf child with her caring instincts kicking in.
"*cries, sobs*" Jet continues crying to himself while hiding his face until he hears...
"Um hey, are you okay there?"
Upon hearing the soft feminine voice, Jet looks up and to his surprise, he sees a very fimiliar fox in a grey business suit with glasses looking at him with a concerned expression.
Diane was also surprised herself when she recognized the face of the wolf pup that saved her that other day.
"*Gasp!* Oh my gosh...i-it's you! What happened to you? Why are you out here by yourself sweetie?" Diane asked softly as she knelt down to Jet to get a closer look at him
Jet didn't say anything but looked at Diane with a teary face.
"*Gasp!* You're bleeding!" Diane softly exclaimed as she noticed his flesh wound.
Diane takes out a white handkerchief and gently dabs it on Jet's wound.
"AH!" Jet recoiled in pain
"Shhhh it's okay." Diane assured as she carefully soaks up the blood with her handkerchief
Diane looks left and right up and down the street then back to Jet wondering why he was all alone by himself.
"Sweetie, it's not safe to be out here by yourself. Are you parents looking for you?" Diane asked softly
Upon hearing that question, Jet looks down in sadness without saying a word. Diane could see it and her caring instincts kicked into overdrive.
"Something is wrong. His clothes looked ruined." Diane thought
She wasn't gonna leave Jet like this.
"Here come with me dear. You're going to be alright." Diane said as she gently picks up the wolf pup and cradles him in her arms.
Diane opens the passenger side door of her car and carefully places Jet inside and puts the seatbelt on him. After that, she gets in the driver seat and proceeds to drive to her home.
On the way, Jet sits comfortably in the passenger seat in the warm heated car. As he looks at Diane driving, he suddenly starts to feel a strong feeling of...relief and hope.
