Chapter 6: A caring fox

Diane drove and drove with the wolf pup next to her until she made it to her home which was a regular single floor house in the outskirts of Los Angeles. Her house also had a secret underground lair.

Diane parked her car and got out. She opens the passenger door and carefully cradles Jet out of the car. After locking the car, Diane carries Jet inside her house and turns on the lights. The moment Diane brought Jet into her home, a huge feeling of comfort hit Jet like a brick. The warm heated living room, the wonderful relaxing smell of the home air freshener, it all brought a nice feeling of warmth and safety to Jet.

Diane put Jet down on her couch and draped and blanket over his shoulders.

"Now you wait right here okay?" Diane said before going to the kitchen to get a first aid kit

Diane returns and sits on the couch next to Jet with the first aid kit in hand. She opens the case and takes out a disinfecting wipe and a white cotton bandaid.

"Okay I need you to hold still for me sweetie." Diane said softly as she gently wiped the gash on Jet's cheek.

After wiping the wound clean, Diane puts on some healing cream over the gash and carefully tapes on the white bandage.

"There. Much better." Diane smiled as she closes the first aid kit and sets it aside

Diane gently cradles the pup and brings him on her lap facing her.

"Okay now I want you to tell me what happened to you and why you were out there alone. Can you do that for me?" Diane asked nicely

But Jet didn't say anything. Mostly because he was experiencing a much newer feeling of being cared for and cradled by the beautiful fox before him. It was all new and overwhelming for him that he slowly started to cry.

"Huh? Are you okay?" Diane said as she could see Jet's face tearing up

Jet suddenly started crying loudly as he leaned into Diane's chest. Diane immediately wrapped her arms around him and soothed him.

"Oh sweetie Shhhh shhhh there there don't cry. I'm right here. Shhhhhhh." Diane said softly as she embraced him while gently rocking back and forth

Jet cried for a minute until calming down and looked up at Diane.

"*sniff* Y-You're so nice to me. *sniff* M-My mother was never nice to me like this before." Jet said

"*gasp* Really? What was your mother like?" Diane asked in worry

"Well...she...she never talked to me. She always drank with a bottle and she was always sad. It felt like she didn't want me." Jet explained sadly

"Really?" Diane asked

Jet sadly nodded yes.

"Oh dear. What about you're father?" Diane asked

"*sniff* My daddy *sniff* died just after...I was born." Jet said as he looked down

"*gasp* Oh you poor baby." Diane said in shock as she gently brushed the top of his head with her soft paw hand

"But can you please tell me how you ended up on that street?" Diane asked nicely

Jet proceeded to tell Diane his long sad story of running away from home, living in a subway and stealing essential items everyday up to the point of running out of the subway and being found by Diane.

"So you had to steal things in order to live?" Diane asked

"Yes...and I felt bad for it." Jet answered sadly

"This poor baby really went through so much. No wonder why he's wearing the same clothes he wore on that day he saved me." Diane said in her mind

"Hey sweetheart." Diane said getting Jet's attention

Jet looked up at Diane listening.

"You can stay with me." Diane assured

"R-Really? You're not mad at me for stealing?" Jet asked

"Oh no of course not. I understand your situation. No sweet boy like you deserves to be without a home. I can take very good care of you." Diane smiled

"Really? You do that...for me?" Jet asked as he smiled a little

"Yes sweetie. You deserve better." Diane smiled as she caringly stroked between his ears

"Um...what is your name miss?" Jet asked

"Oh my name's Diane. Diane Foxington but you can just call me Diane. What's your name sweetheart?" Diane said

"Um...it's...my name is Jet. Jet Pawser." Jet answered shyly

"Jet Pawser. That's a cute name." Diane smiled as she stroked his ears more

Jet started to feel overwhelmingly touched by Diane's soft stroking that he started to cry again

"*sniff* D-Diane?" Jet asked tearfully

"Hmmm what is it?" Diane asked

"*sniff* C-Can you hug me again?"

Diane smiled warmly at Jet "Oh of course. Come here sweetheart." Diane said sweetly as she embraced Jet once more with his head over her shoulder.

Jet cried in overwhelming joy as he happily hugged Diane tightly like she was the most important thing in his life.

"Shhhhhhhh. It's going to be okay." Diane whispered as she caringly hugged the wolf pup in her arms

The two hugged each other warmly on the couch for a few minutes until...

*GROWL*

The two seperated upon hearing the growling noise. Diane knew it was coming from Jet's stomach.

"Oh my. How long has it been since you last ate?" Daine asked softly

"Um...this morning." Jet answered

"Oh you poor thing. Come on i'll fix you something to eat." Diane smiled as she carried the pup to her kitchen

Diane placed Jet on one of the chairs at the dining table before going to the kitchen to fix something. Jet waited patiently for a few minute until Diane presented him a plate of hot macaroni and cheese with a glass of water.

"Go ahead dear. It's all yours." Diane smiled

Jet took a fork and slowly took one bite of the hot meal and right away his mouth bursted with an amazing flavor. Jet smiled and started rapidly eating the delicious home cooked meal as Diane happily watched.
