Chapter 7: Late night shopping
After finishing the delicous meal, Jet started to nod off given that he was exhausted and it was getting very late. Diane could see this so she picked up Jet from the table and started to carry him to the guest bedroom.
"Come on sweetie. Let's get you to bed." Diane whispered
Being cradled in Diane's warm and sweet embrace was enough to make Jet fall totally asleep in her arms. Diane enters the guest bedroom and gently lays Jet down on his side on the freshly made super soft bed. The warm hearted fox couldn't help but pet him a few times and give him a soft sweet kiss on his cheek. Jet smiles in his sleep feeling happy to be laying on a soft bed after a very long time. Diane leaves the room and gently closes the door behind.
"This little guy is gonna need new clothes." Diane thought after seeing the same messed up clothes Jet was wearing
Diane quickly checks google maps on her phone and to her surprise all the clothing and department stores in her area were closed given that it was very late at night and she couldn't wait until tomorrow. Jet needed new clothes and items asap.
"Oh my. Looks like it's time to get sneaky." Diane said to herself
With that Diane goes back into her kitchen and punches in a combination on the keypad of her microwave.
"IDENTITY VERIFIED. WELCOME DIANE." Said the female automated voice as the secret elevator opens behind the fridge
Diane enters the elevator and descends down into her secret lair filled with all kinds of weapons, gadgets and gizmos along with a large high tech tracking computer.
Diane takes off her glasses and swiftly changes into her black stealth suit. She grabs a few tools and puts them on her belt before grabbing a small white case. After getting well prepared, Diane opens the secret garage and transforms the white case into an electric speed bike. Diane hops on the bike and speeds out of her home.
After riding fast through the empty streets for 2 minutes, Diane arrives at the nearest department store. She stops her bike and transforms it back into a case before hiding it in some nearby bushes. Diane then puts on her hood and mask leaving only her eyes exposed before running up to the building. She runs to the side of the building where the main power circuit box was located. Diane opens the box and puts a small electronic disabling device on the circuits to temporarly disable the security cameras and alarm system. With the cameras and alarms disabled, Diane makes her way to the automatic front doors and quickly picks the lock gaining access inside the store. The inside of the store was dark aside from the dimly lit exit signs. Diane quietly makes her way to the childrens clothing section and begins browsing.
"Alright now which one of these would he like." Diane thought as she looks at the clothes
She scims through the hung up clothes through the aisle until finding the proper size t-shirts, pants, socks and shoes for Jet.
"Perfect!" Diane takes out a small shopping bag and starts gathering all the clothes
As Diane was gathering the clothes and shoes, she suddenly hears hard footsteps. She looks to her right and sees a security guard with a flashlight far at the end of the aisle. The security guard was a male buff anthro tiger in a blue uniform and hat and he was patrolling the store and thankfully hasn't noticed Diane yet.
"Oh great. Since when did stores like this have a security guard?" Diane said in her mind
To avoid being spotted, Diane drops the shopping bag and quickly takes out a grappling gun and shoots at the ceiling. She ascends up to the ceiling up fast as a rocket. The guard heard the shot of the gun and quickly points his flashlight up the now empty aisle.
"Who's there?" The guard called out in a deep voice as he started walking up the aisle to investigate
The guard came up to the shopping bag left on the floor and picked it up. As he was looking over the bag, Diane suddenly drops down to the floor in front of him like a ninja. As fast as lightning, Diane takes out a small spray can and sprays sleeping gas right at the guard's face.
"Huh!? What theeeeee..." The sleeping gas took fast effect as the guard fell into deep sleep
Diane catches the guard before he could fall
"Shhhhhh don't mind me, just doing a little shopping. My you're heavy." Diane whispered as she helped the guard lay down on the floor
With the security guard now taken care of, Diane resumes on gathering clothes. After a few minutes Diane gathered enough clothes and other essential items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste all for Jet. Before leaving the store, Diane leaves lots of cash on the cashier counter to pay for all the stuff she's taken.
Once out of the store, Diane re-locks the front door and removes her disabling device from the circuit box bringing the security cameras and alarm system back up. With her shopping run successfully pulled off, Diane runs back to the bushes where she hid her bike case. Diane puts the shopping bag on her shoulder and rides her bike back home.
Back inside the store, the sleeping gas wears off on the security guard and he slowly wakes up getting himself together.
"Ugh. What happened? I must have fell asleep on the job again." The guard said to himself as he stood back up and picked up his flashlight
The guard resumed on patrolling the store shaking off the memory of seeing Diane for a split second as just a dream.
It was now midnight when Diane arrived back at her home. She didn't bother entering through the garage. Instead she packed up her bike and went in through the front door. She lets out a yawn as she was getting tired herself. Before going to her room to get ready for bed, Diane peeks in the guest bedroom to make sure Jet was till asleep and thankfully he was. Diane smiles knowing how happy Jet will be in the morning once she shows him the new clothes she got him.
