Chapter 9: Full custody

Well it is now official that Jet, the 4 year old wolf pup, is now an orphan now that he lost his mom after his father. As he sadly stayed in Diane's embrace on the couch, Diane came up with the best idea.

And that is adopting Jet as her son!

Diane could tell very well that Jet felt safe and comfortable with her thus he needed her. And a cute pup like him does not deserve to be put in foster care or an orphanage. It would not help him feel better. No sir it simply would not do.

"Jet...Sweetheart."

Jet seperated from Diane to look at her.

"Would you like some breakfast? That might cheer you up. I can make blueberry pancakes." Diane said softly with a warm and caring smile as she tenderly stroked his ears

Jet manages to thin a little smile "O-Okay Diane."

"Alright. Come on and have a seat." Diane and Jet get off the couch and go into the kitchen

Diane lifts Jet onto the stool on the kitchen island counter before going to work on his breakfast. 5 minutes later, Diane presents a steaming plate of blueberry pancakes to Jet with a side of steaming scrambled eggs.

"Here you go sweetie. Eat up." Diane smiled

"T-Thank you Diane." Jet nom-nomed away on the wonderful breakfast as Diane cleans up the kitchen a little

Later

Diane was driving through the streets of LA in her small yellow car with Jet next to her. Jet was wearing new sneakers Diane got him.

"Um Diane? Where we going?" Jet asked curiously

"Well honey first off we're going to the police station." Diane answered

"HUH!?...But...w-why?" Jet asked in a scared tone as his ears folded down

"Well because when your mom passed away the police marked you as a missing person and they have been looking for you this whole time so I have to let them know that you're safe with me." Diane explained as she pulled into the parking lot of the police station and parked the car

Diane got out of the car before going around to the passenger side to help Jet out of the car.

"So Jet are you ready to go in and see the cool police station?" Diane smiled trying to sound cheerful

"B-But Diane, m-my mom is gone! I don't have parents anymore! They're going to take me away and put me in an orphanage! And I-I don't want that! Please!" Jet cried in sheer worry

Diane knelt down to Jet and put her hands on his shoulders.

"Jet, sweetie shhh shhhh listen to me."

Jet right away calmed down and listened.

"They're not going to take you away from me. Everything's going to be okay. I just have to talk to them and you have to come in with me. I promise nothing's going to happen to you." Diane assured

"*sniff* D-Do you really promise?" Jet asked as he wiped away a tear

Diane smiled warmly and crossed her heart with her finger showing she promises. But Jet still looked nervous about going into the police station. Diane saw this and came up with an idea.

"Tell you what sweetie, how about I hold you close to me as we go in. Would that make you feel better?" Diane asked as she held out her arms

"O-Okay." Jet lets Diane pick him up and hold him close to her like an infant and boy did it help a lot

Diane begin walking into the police station with Jet in her arms.

Later that afternoon

After visiting the police station without any trouble, Diane and Jet were now at the city courthouse. Jet was sitting outside the courtroom on a bench patiently waiting while swinging his feet. Diane was inside the courtroom face to face with the judge finishing up the adoption process.

"Governor Foxington, I am proud to officially grant you full custody on little 4 year old Jet. And his last name is officially changed to match yours. Congratulations and I wish you the best." *BANG*

The judge (a female anthro snow leapord) banged her gavel before handing Diane the official adoption certificate.

"Thank you very much your honor." Diane smiled as she took the certificate before turning to walk out of the courtroom

Normally it takes 3 to 6 months of process to adopt an orphaned child. But luckily for Diane the adoption got approved immediately because of her status and position as governor. As Diane walks to the exit of the courtroom, she looks over the certificate proudly smiling to herself. She was now Jet's new mother.

Diane wasn't going to show Jet the certificate now because she planned on surprising him with it later so she folds it up and puts it in her jacket pocket hidden. Outside, Jet was still patiently waiting until Diane finally came out through the double doors.

"Thank you for waiting Jet. Are you ready to go?" Diane said as she held out her hand

Jet grabbed Diane's hand and the two started making their way out of the courthouse.

"Umm...Diane? Why did we have to come here again?" Jet asked curiously

"Oh because...I just had some important business to take care of." Diane lied with a cute wink

Jet did not know that he was now offically Diane's adoptive son and Diane couldn't wait to surprise him with the certificate later. She pictured Jet having a delightful reaction. Once outside the courthouse, the two walked towards their parked car when Diane suddenly got another idea.

"Hey Jet, would you like to meet my friends?" Diane asked

"Your friends? Are they nice?"

"Oh they are the nicest. Trust me you will like them and they will like you two." Diane assured

Immediately they got in the car and Diane started driving en route to the bad guys hideout home.
