"Goodbye, Nigie" Lizzie said while crying as she left Numbuh 1 behind
"Lizzie, Comeback!" Numbuh 1 said as his ex-girlfriend left "I can change!"
Rachel arrived a few moments later "Nigel, I Got here as fast as I could". She jumped out of her Roadstar and rushed to his side "Need help saving Lizzie?" She looked at him worried
"No, She's saved, and we broke up too" Numbuh 1 said feeling depressed
"Oh, I…" Numbuh 362 scratched her head feeling a bit awkward
"Did you catch Numbuh 65.3?" Numbuh 1 asked
"Yeah! Turns out he wasn't he wasn't one of the Splinter cell, after all" She said a bit relieved "He was just trying to use the sweater of sweetness to smuggle candy into the weight-loss camp his parents were sending him to" Rachel chuckled then got a hold of herself upon remembering it wasn't a time for that "I guess they have tight security of something." She said feeling awkward, a million thoughts ran through her hand in a split of a second, she smiled at him "Hey, You know, It's still meatball sandwich day on the moon base, want to grab some for dinner?" she asked
"Thanks, Rachel, But I think I'll pass this time" Numbuh 1 lowered his head feeling depressed
Rachel lowered her head and closed her eyes feeling a sense of rejection "I understand…" she walked up to her Roadstar "You know where I am if you want to talk" she entered her Roadstar then gave Numbuh 1 one last look "See you around Soldier…" Rachel lowered her head again still feeling rejected and defeated
Numbuh 1 was looking at the horizon while crying with a sad face
Rachel pressed a button in her roadstar as a robotic voice said "Auto-pilot turned on" she then banged her head against the steering wheel "Idiot…" she said to herself then started sobbing a bit, she arrived home and walked slowly with her head down to her room, she laid on the bed and buried her head against her pillow "Great job… that's the third time you screw everything congratulations supreme leader…" She said to herself between sobs
Numbuh 1 was lying on his bed looking at the ceiling with a sad look when his friends came bursting through the door "NUMBUH 1! THE TREEHOUSE GOT DESTROYED" Numbuh 2 said
"Yeah I know…" Numbuh 1 sighed
"W-What do you mean you know?! Were we attacked?" Numbuh 4 asked
Numbuh 1 shook his head then proceeded to explain everything to his team
"Wow… That's harsh, you could have called us for help" Numbuh 5 sat right next to him and patted him on the back
"It was a personal matter, I didn't see the need to do it" He said "Don't worry I already ordered a new treehouse from Global command… should be arriving tomorrow morning" Numbuh 1 turned on his bed "Leave me alone for a bit…."
"All the time you need" Numbuh 3 and the rest of the team left his room after that
They were outside his home now "It will be good for him, the girl was crazy" Numbuh 4 said while walking with his friends
"Don't be an insensible jerk!" Numbuh 5 grabbed her hat and beat Numbuh 4 with it "try to put yourself in his place" she said upset with him
"I'm just saying he deserves better, and you agree with me!" Numbuh 4 said angry at Numbuh 5 pointing at her
"Yes Numbuh 4 but I'm not about to say it to him right after he breaks up" Numbuh 5 said "Let's leave him be for now" She sighed
The team agreed with her and went back home after that
The next day early in the morning Numbuh 1 was in front of his home in his pajamas overseeing the placement of his new treehouse, it looked the same as the old one but with a brand new computer that wouldn't fall in love with him "If this one ends up having a crush on me I give up" he laughed
His teammates arrived seeing their leader laughing "Numbuh 1? You okay?" Numbuh 2 asked him a bit worried
"Better than yesterday at least" Numbuh 1 said "They asked me to take a look at the new treehouse and make sure everything is okay" He said "So? who wants to do missions?"
"Y-You just broke up, are you really okay?" Numbuh 3 looked at him worried as well
"Well I'm still pretty sad but… To be honest with you guys I don't know what would be better to improve my mood than a few adult tyranny fighting " He laughed as he entered the new treehouse
The team members looked at each other a bit concerned but decided to go along with the missions
It was late in the night when Numbuh 1 arrived at Arctic base with his team carrying in their ship a few villains due for some time in jail "We caught huge ones today, you guys won't be feeding Brussel sprouts to kids ever again" Numbuh 1 whipped some sweat off his forehead as he walked to arctic base prison with his team, they met Numbuh 60 in front of the prison he was talking to Numbuh 86 the both of them talking with a worried look on their faces while the head of decommissioning was writing some stuff on a notepad "It's rare to see the both of you together, did something happen?" Numbuh 1 asked them concerned
Numbuh 86 sighed "Rachel hasn't show up for work today, did you see her lately?"
"Yeah, I saw her yesterday" Numbuh 1 said
"Did she say anything?" Numbuh 86 asked him with a worried tone
"Well…" Numbuh 1 looked at her a bit embarrassed "I actually broke up with Lizzie yesterday, Rachel invited me to eat meatball sandwiches trying to cheer me up but… I was too depressed at the time, aside from that she seemed fine" Numbuh 1 said with an oblivious look on his face
Numbuh 3 and Numbuh 5 eyes went wide in shock, they looked at Numbuh 86 who had the same expression on her face, the boys all looked a bit worried but were oblivious to what the girls were thinking "I just remembered, Numbuh 5 invited Numbuh 3 for some candy hunting today…" Numbuh 5 laughed nervously as she left
"Y-Yeah…" Numbuh 3 followed Numbuh 5
"I-It has been quite a while since I went candy hunting" Numbuh 86 laughed nervously sweating "I will go with them, Numbuh 60 could you take over global command operations for me?" she left following the other two girls, when they got far enough from the boys Numbuh 86 groaned "You leader is an IDIOT!"
"It's Numbuh 362 fault for trying to ask a boy on a date seconds after he breaks up to begin with" Numbuh 5 said
"He is a bit dense though" Numbuh 3 said
"Not the point" Numbuh 5 said she said as the girls walked into the main hangar from the arctic base
Rachel was laying on her bed wearing her clothes from the previous day it was wrinkled and had a couple of stains around them, her hair was messy, she was watching television in her room, she would only leave her room to drink water and grab stuff to eat, her parents would knock on her door from time to time asking how she was "Nothing good to watch…" she said to herself then sighed, she got up and walked to the door, she opened it only to see her parents in front of it "Hey…" she greeted them trying to force a smile
"Dear… this is the fourth or fifth time we ask you this today… Did something… anything happen? We want to help you" Her mother said with a worried look on her face
Rachel sighed "I'm an insensitive jerk…" she then walked to the kitchen her parents following her
"You know you aren't, did something happen with your little club?" Her Father said
"No… they are fine Dad…" Rachel opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of milk she drank it straight from the bottle as some milk got in her shirt
Her mother grabbed her by the shoulder "Dear…" She smiled at her daughter
Rachel sighed "I…" she paused for a second "Do you promise to not say anything embarrassing and just hear me out?" she turned around to face them
"We promise" her father said then sat at the kitchen table with his wife
"A boy… I like him, his girlfriend broke up with him yesterday and I… decided to ask him out just after it" Rachel sighed then buried her face on the table "I'm an idiot…" she said
Her mother stroked her hair smiling at her daughter "I'm glad you told us, give this boy time, I'm sure he will come around" she said
Rachel started sobbing "Thanks…" she got up "I wanna stay alone for a bit…" She left for her room.
"Poor thing" Her father sighed "Wish we could do something for her" He said
"She has a good head on her shoulders" His wife said then kissed him "She will recover from it" she said then heard a knock on the door, she opened it only to see three girls smiling at her all of them holding ice cream pots "I was wondering when you would show up Fanny" Numbuh 362 Mom smiled at the operative "She is in her room crying"
"Thanks Mrs Mckenzie" The girls said then went upstairs, Numbuh 86 knocked on the door
"Mom… I said I want to be alone right now" Rachel said between a few sobs
"Rachel It's me, Numbuh 3 and Numbuh 5, we figured what happened after Numbuh 1 said you invited him to talk yesterday" Fanny said
"I'm the worst… Go away…" She said
"We brought Ice Cream for you…" Numbuh 86 said smiling gently at the door
Rachel sighed then got up, the girls outside heard the sound of Rachel unlocking the door
The girls weren't ready for the wave of bad smell that invaded their nostrils as Rachel opened the door, they tried their best to not bring their hands to their faces
"I know I stink, you can cover your noses…" Rachel sighed as she let the girls into her room
Rachel's room was even worse, packages of food were all over the floor and on her bed, her pillow was slightly wet with tears "Sorry about our leader… boys are clueless most of the time…" Numbuh 3 said smiling at the supreme leader
"Can you blame him though? Would you go out with someone to eat seconds after breaking up with someone?" Rachel said
"No…" Numbuh 3 lowered her head her smile turned into a sad face
Numbuh 86 looked at her with a concerned look "What do you plan on doing now?"
"Staying in my room until my decommissioning comes is an option…" Rachel said
"You aren't being serious, this isn't you" Numbuh 86 said
"Sorry… I'm not really feeling like planning anything right now…" She said
Numbuh 5 walked up to her and slapped the girl in the face "Better?"
Rachel rubbed her face then looked at Numbuh 5, she hugged the girl then started bawling "What was i thinking!" she said
Numbuh 5 smiled then patted the girl on the back "Do you like raspberry?"
"Yeah…" she sniffled then released the girl as Numbuh 86 handed her a bucket of ice cream, Rachel was eating ice cream on top of her bed while the girls cleaned her room "Is this really necessary?" Rachel said a bit embarrassed by having her friends clean her room
"Yes" The three of them said "You should give him some time then straight up confess to him" Numbuh 86 said
"I don't wanna hear love advice from any of you three!" Rachel said a bit upset in her tone of voice as she scooped a spoonful of ice cream and proceeded to eat it
"I'm of the same opinion as well dear" her mother appeared in the door waving at Rachel then left
Rachel sighed "I will try to… can you guys please stop trying to give advice now?" she said
"We will stop after you take a bath girl" Numbuh 5 said as she pinched her nose
"Good idea" Rachel said, she got up and grabbed a change of clothes from her drawer, she left her room, after undressing herself Rachel got inside the bathtub "Confessing huh?" she said to herself "I wonder…" she smiled, a few minutes later Rachel returned to her room that was now cleaned
"Feeling better?" Numbuh 86 asked Rachel
"I guess…" Rachel looked at them a bit embarrassed, she noticed then the three girls were wearing their pajamas "W-What are you guys wearing?"
"Pajamas" Numbuh 3 giggled
"I can see that but… why?" Rachel smiled at her
"We called our parents, they let us stay" Numbuh 5 said
"I… Thanks" Rachel blushed them smiled at the girls
"You… don't mind talking about Numbuh 1 and stuff right?" Numbuh 86 asked "I mean… It's my first sleepover with you, i wanted to do girl talk"
"As long as we talk about Numbuh 60 as well" Rachel laughed then sat with the girls on her bed
"Numbuh 60?" Numbuh 3 looked at Fanny surprised "You never told me" she giggled
"It is just a stupid crush…" Numbuh 86 sighed "He is a good teacher for the cadets…" Numbuh 86 crossed her arms blushing "I like watching him doing training drills alright" she said a bit flustered
"Who would have thought, you like a boy" Numbuh 5 grinned
"What about you?" Numbuh 86 looked at Numbuh 5 a bit annoyed at the girl teasing grin
Numbuh 5 sighed "Hoagie, he gets on my nerves with the jokes but he is a good guy" She laughed
"Doesn't he… have a crush on your sister… who is a teenager?" Rachel looked at Numbuh 5 a bit confused
"Everyone has problems" Numbuh 5 shrugged
"Uh! Uh!" Numbuh 3 raised her hand "I bet you guys can't guess who I like" Numbuh 3 giggled
All three girls looked at Numbuh 3 with confused looks trying to figure out if she was joking "Numbuh 4" they all said
Numbuh 3 blushed "H-How could you tell?"
"It's literally the most obvious all over the place thing in the entire kids next door, and just in case you don't know, he likes you too" Numbuh 86 said
"Does not" Numbuh 3 said
"He does" The girls said laughing while Numbuh 3 looked at them a bit mad but joined in their laughter fit
"So… Why do you like Numbuh 1?" Numbuh 5 asked Rachel grinning at her
"Where to begin…" Rachel smiled to herself sighing infatuated "Out of all operatives… no one supports me more than him… Sorry Fanny" Rachel said looking at the girl
"I… won't contest it…" Numbuh 86 looked at her with a hint of defeat in her expression but she smiled at her friend nonetheless
"He helped so much during the time I tried to quit being the supreme leader and then he saved all of us during the grandfather crisis… he is just… so cool…" She giggled to herself while the rest of the girls smiled at her
"He wears rainbow monkey underwear though" Numbuh 3 giggled
Rachel blushed then laughed "Every hero has their flaws" She said
"It's not a flaw to me" Numbuh 86 laughed
The girls went to sleep after that
The next morning the girls were waking up, they noticed Rachel had already woken up, she was just in her underwear the sun from the window shone brightly against her as she put on the supreme leader clothes she had a big smile on her face "Good morning" she said
"Good morning…" the girls smiled at their leader who had recovered almost all of her confidence by now
A couple of hours In moonbase Rachel was sitting in a chair with a pleasant smile while she signed a few reports a operative showed her and drank a mug of hot chocolate with her other hand, she suddenly say Numbuh 1 approaching global command and blushed "You can do it…" she said to herself "Nigel" she smiled at him
"Hey, I'm glad you are feeling better, I heard you didn't show up for work yesterday" Numbuh 1 said
"About that… How are you feeling?" She asked him with a worried look
"Could be better but the overall sadness went away after a few missions" Numbuh 1 laughed
"Great… can we talk in my office about a private matter?" She smiled at him then got up
"Of course Sir" Numbuh 1 followed Rachel to her office after that "So? Are there any updates on the splinter cell matter?"
"No… I'm not here about that" Rachel gulped then paused for a moment to collect her thoughts "I love you" she blushed while looking at him
Numbuh 1 paused for a moment then sat on a nearby chair "I… see" He said
"I'm sorry to call you here just for that…" Rachel looked at him a bit fearful of his answer
"No… It's okay… Was that why you were feeling unwell yesterday?" Numbuh '1 asked
Rachel paused then sighed"Yes… I asked you out just after your girlfriend broke up with you, when I realized that I just stayed in my room crying the whole day… The girls from your sector and Numbuh 86 talked to me and made me feel better" she said smiling at him
"I'm sorry… It wasn't my intention to make you feel like that" He said in a serious tone
"I should be the one apologizing… it was an insensible thing to do" She said feeling a bit sad
"It's okay..."He smiled at her "About your proposal…" Numbuh 1 said with a serious face
Rachel closed her eyes and gritted her teeth preparing for the worse
"Could you… give me some time to think? A week would do" He said
Rachel let out a sigh in relief "S-Sure… All the time you need" she looked at him a bit nervous
"I just want to think this through… I'm truly happy that you confessed" he smiled at her "Permission to leave?" He asked
"Permission granted" She smiled at him with a clear hint of worry on her face
Numbuh 1 saluted Rachel and left the office he walked a bit around moonbase then sat on a bench "I just want to fight adult tyranny…." he said putting his hands on his face and shaking his head he then sighed and blushed "Here goes my good night of sleep" he said to himself, Numbuh 1 returned to the treehouse a few hours later his team was gathered in the meeting room "I… have somethings to take care of… You are dismissed for the day… except Numbuhs 3 and 5, I need to talk to them in private"
Numbuh 4 and Numbuh 2 looked at each other a bit confused but didn't press the issue
After the two boys left Numbuh 1 approached Numbuhs 3 and 5 "Are we in trouble?" Numbuh 3 asked
"Thank you for talking to Rachel" Numbuh 1 said
Numbuh 3 and Numbuh 5 smiled "Did she…" Numbuh 5 asked
"Yeah… I asked her to give me some time to think" Numbuh 1 said scratching the back of his head blushing
"You aren't sure?" Numbuh 3 looked at him a bit confused
"I just don't want to make her miserable like I did with Lizzie" Numbuh 1 sighed
"She is different though, she is not crazy to begin with" Numbuh 5 said
"Yeah… I will think this over carefully" He said then left the room and went to his bedroom, he laid on his bed and sighed
Rachel was reading a file on her desk with a worried look she was biting a pen nervously
Numbuh 86 approached her "You feeling okay?"
"I confessed" Rachel said
Numbuh 86 paused "And?
"He said he needs time to think" Rachel sighed
"That's… not a rejection" Numbuh 86 smiled
"Yes instead of sadness I'm feeling anxiety, amazing" Rachel chuckled
"Everything will be fine, If he rejects you I'm killing him anyway" Numbuh 86 said smiling at Rachel
"Please don't" Rachel said a bit worried
One week had passed since then, Numbuh 1 had just arrived in Moonbase he had bags under his eyes and looked a bit tired, he went straight for global command, Rachel was sitting on her chair talking with an operative, her hair was a bit messy and she had bags under her eyes "Numbuh 362, Sir? Could we talk in private?"
Rachel sighed "I guess…" she followed him to her office, she sat at her office's desk
"You don't look well" Numbuh 1 said
"Sorry… I'm pathetic, I got anxious and had trouble sleeping these past few days…" Rachel said
"Don't be so hard on yourself, I'm the same" Numbuh 1 smiled at her then sighed "About your confession… I'm okay with dating but… are you okay with not going out as much? I mean… we are pretty busy most of the time" Numbuh 1 said
"I'm sure I can try making it work out so…?" Rachel smiled at him
Numbuh 1 sighed "Just don't go crazy on me" He opened his arms
Rachel rushed to him and hugged him "No promises…" she chuckled with her head buried in his chest
Numbuh 1 stroked the supreme leader's hair "It will take time for me to get used to dating my boss" Numbuh 1 laughed
"Should we tell the others?" Rachel asked
"Just friends for now, it would be a problem if Numbuh 10 or your brother found out" Numbuh 1 said
"Don't worry about the latter, I can be pretty scary when I want to" Numbuh 362 chuckled
