Chapter 13: Hospital visit

7:00 AM

The beautiful morning sun rose over the large greater city of Los Angeles. Our cute little anthro wolf pup Jet was happily snuggled warmly in his super cozy and fluffy bed snoozing away peacefully as the sun rays beamed through the windows illuminating his room. Suddenly the bedroom door opens and Diane comes in to wake the sleeping pup.

"Jet...Oh Jet. Wake up ya snoozy little pupper." Diane says in a soft motherly tone as she tenderly brushes her hand over his pointed ears to wake him

"Mmmm Huh wha?" Jet mumbles as he rises up and adjusts himself fully awake before looking at the pretty fox kneeling next to the bed before him

"Good morning you." Diane smiled

"*Yawns* Good morning Miss Diane." Jet smiled back

"You sleep alright?"

"*Yawns again* Yes I did. I felt so cozy." Jet said

"Wonderful to hear. Oh and that was polite of you to call me Miss. But remember you don't have to call me by that. Just Diane is fine alright?" Diane reminded

"Oh...sorry." Jet apologized

"*giggles* No worries. Now come on let's get some breakfast in your tummy. You and I have something important to do today." Diane said as she helped Jet out of bed and led him out to the kitchen

"Something important? What is it?" Jet asked

"I'll tell you soon dear." Diane smiled

As Diane was leading Jet, She grins to herself and says in her mind "Pretty soon you will be calling me mommy instead of Miss Diane my little pumpkin."

Later

After eating breakfast, brushing teeth, getting dressed and leaving the house, Diane was now driving through the streets of Los Angeles with Jet next to her.

"Um Diane, you still haven't told me what important thing we were doing today." Jet brought up curiously

"*gasp* Oh right right sorry. Tell me Jet have you ever been to a hospital ever since you were born?" Diane asked

"Umm...no"

"Well the important thing today is we are going to the hospital to get you checked up. I made an appointment last night after putting you to bed." Diane said as she stops at a stop light

"But...I-I'm not sick Diane. I feel fine." Jet said

"I know sweetie but you were living on the streets before I took you in so I want to make sure you didn't catch any nasty outside diseases. You don't want any disease in you right?"

Silence

When Jet doesn't answer back, Diane looks at him and sees him shaking in his seat with his ears folded down, his tail curled around, and a nervous expression on his face.

"Is something wrong Jet?" Diane caringly asked

"It's just that...Hospitals are scary." Jet said nervously as he fidgeted with his seatbelt

"Oh Jet hopsitals are not scary. What makes you think that?" Diane asked

"Well I-I heard that hospitals use sharp pointy needles on people." Jet said as he shivered harder like a nervous dog visiting a vet

"Ohhh sweetheart there's nothing to worry about. I felt the same way when I was your age. Hospitals help sick or injured people feel better. And those needles you know about are not that bad." Diane assured with a warm smile as the stop light turned back to green

1 minute drive Later

Diane pulls into the hospital parking lot and parks the car. This special particular hospital was built specifically for treating anthro animal citizens. The hospital was huge with 7 floors and a few ambulances parked around it. The name of the hospital was...

'East Los Angeles Anthro Animal Medical Center'

Diane and Jet get out of the car and walk together towards the main entrance of the building. As Jet follows next to Diane, the automatic glass doors suddenly open and a nurse comes out with a patient on a wheelchair. The patient was an adult male anthro labrador dog and he had white bandages patched all over himself in different places along with an IV bag connected to his wrist. The nurse (A female anthro fennec fox) was wheeling him towards a parked idling ambulance more likely to be transfered to a different hospital with better treatment resources.

"WAAH!" Jet shrieks when he sees state of the patient and quickly hugs one of Diane's legs. Diane stops and looks down to see Jet looking up at her with a downright scared expression. Immediately Diane scoops up Jet and hugs him close.

"I-I don't wanna go in there! I-I'm scared!" Jet cried with scared puppy eyes

"Oh honey it's okay shhh don't be scared it's okay shhhhh. I promise everything will be alright and I'm right here with you. We can do this together. Just relax." Diane tenderly soothed as she petted behind Jet's ears

"Can you be a brave sweetie? You're a brave boy aren't you?"

Jet wanted to be brave so he hesitantly nodded yes.

"There you go. Good boy. After this we will get ice cream." Diane smiled as she proceeded into the hospital with Jet in her arms

Inside, the large brightly lit waiting room was filled with lots of anthro animals sitting around waiting on their appointments. Dogs, cats, wolfs, reptiles, you name it. Most of them were sitting in wheelchairs, wearing bandages/casts, sneezing from colds and flus, while some were perfectly normal. Diane gently places Jet on one of the empty seats next to a female anthro dalmatian dog.

"You wait right here okay." Diane said before going up to the reception counter to check in

The receptionist was a female anthro white snow wolf who happily greeted Diane upon seeing her.

"Hello there!"

"Hello I have a 9 o'clock appointment." Diane said

"Alright. Your name please?"

"It's Diane Foxington."

"Alright let's see here..." The wolf receptionist scrolled on her computer until landing on Diane's name

"Ah here you are. You're right on time. Now you're here for a basic checkup on...your child right?" The receptionist asked

"Yes that is correct. I'm here to give my son a checkup." Diane confirmed

"Alright. Now if I can have you fill this out and bring it right back to me please." The wolf hands Diane a clipboard with a new patient registration form on it along with a pen

"Sure thing."

Diane walks back over to Jet and takes a seat next to him. She clicks open the pen and begins to fill out the form.

As Diane was filling out the form, Jet looks at the black spotted white anthro dalmatian girl sitting next to him on his right. She was a young teenage dalmatian and she was wearing a blue cheerleading skirt uniform complete with a white bow between her ears and white sneakers on her paw feet. She had 2 large ice packs taped around her right knee and a pair of crutches next to her indicating that she had a bad cheerleading accident that messed up her knee and was brought into the hospital to get treated. Right now she was chewing on a gum and reading a magazine waiting to get called on by a nurse before she noticed Jet staring at her.

"Oh Hello...ummm you okay there?" She asked

Jet said nothing but worriedly looked down at her iced up knee then looked back up at her eyes. The cheerleader dalmatian could tell Jet was nervous and concerned to be in a hospital full of injured patients like her and that it was his first time so she helps him feel better giving him a friendly 'I'm okay' smile. She then takes out a spare pack of fruit flavored gum and offers it to Jet.

"Here. This is for you." She whispered

Jet slowly takes the sealed pack and gives a light 'thank you' smile in response. Without a word, the dalmatian gives Jet a nice assuring pat on his head before going back to reading her magazine. Jet's nervousness was now reduced a little from the kind gesture of the cheerleader dalmatian.

Finally Diane finished filling out the form. She gets up and goes to hand it in to the receptionist.

"Here you go. All filled out." Diane said

"Wonderful. Now if you just sit tight you will be called on shortly." The wolf said as she takes the clipboard back

Diane goes to sit back down with Jet and wait to get called on.

2 minute later

A female white snowshoe rabbit nurse wearing baby blue medical clothing comes out into the waiting room.

"Foxington!" She called out

"Oh that's us. Come on Jet let's go." Diane said as she stood up and took Jet by the hand and started walking to the nurse

Without a word, Jet looks back at the dalmatian and gives her a goodbye wave. The dalmatian happily waves back.

"Right this way you two." The rabbit nurse said as she started walking through the halls with Diane and Jet following behind
