Chapter 12 - Revelation

"Because I'm in love with someone else."

Regina stared at him, her mouth open and wide eyes. "What?"

It was the only thing she was able to whisper out.

Robin kissed her hands, without taking his eyes away from hers. "I never stopped loving you. The moment I saw you that day at the hospital in Henry's room, I know it sound like a cliché, but it was like I was finally able to breathe again. Before it was just something I did because I had to. It was so hard to do everything without you. When they told me what had happened in that warehouse, I was broken. And when they called me, when they told me you had been hurt again and you were in a hospital... That feeling of not being able to breathe, being broken, it all came back in full force. Regina I was so fucking worried, so fucking terrified of losing you again."

They were both crying, Regina because she knew how much they must have suffered because of her, and Robin because he was finally letting out everything he had kept inside since the moment she came back.

Robin let go of one of Regina's hands and ran his hand over his face to wipe away his tears, then he did the same on her face as she leaned in his touch and closed her eyes, enjoying the moment despite the situation.

He took her hand again before speaking. "You asked me why Marian left. This. This is the reason. I'm still so much in love with you, even before I found the courage to say it to you aloud." Because it had taken him so much time to gather the courage to speak those three little words to her.

They stared into each other's eyes for what felt like ages. Regina still hadn't said a word while Robin began to speak again.

"And do you know who made me open my eyes about what was right in front of me this whole time but I couldn't see it because I was too busy being angry at you, because I was just too scared and too blind?"

She could guess who it was, but she didn't want to interrupt him, so she just shook her head..

"Marian. Also my mother, bless that woman, but mostly Marian." He told her everything Marian had said to him, from the photos, to the twins' birthday party, and going on to the wedding. He also told her what Nora said to him, and even if he would never admit it aloud, his mother was right. No son would ever say to their mother that they were right.

Regina still hadn't spoken but she was crying, harder than before, but somehow still in silence.

He also told her about what he had talked about with Dr. Hopper, about talking about his feelings, the bad and the good, for her.

She tried to stop crying and dry her tears, but it was useless, because the old tears were immediately replaced with fresh ones.

Regina was the one who broke this new moment of silence by taking a deep breath. "Robin-"

But he stopped her by putting his finger on her lips. "No, I know what you're going to say."

She smirked a bit, trying to break a bit of tension. "So now you can also read minds?"

Robin just smiled at her and tucked a stray of hair behind her ear. He had always loved her long hair and he extremely enjoyed the feeling of his fingers running through them again, even if now her stands were a bit shorter than what they used to be.

"You're going to say it's your fault she left and how sorry you are. Then you'll start with your nonsense about how you shouldn't have come back and how it would have been better if you had stayed where you were. You might also add how I would be better with someone who it's not you. So, how am I going?" He smirked.

Regina smiled but it was a sad smile. "You're right." She admitted to him but as soon as she did she stopped smiling. "But jokes aside, it's true. If I hadn't come back, you would still be happy with Marian, the kids wouldn't have to live through all of this mess and you wouldn't have to suffer so much because of me. Maybe it would have been better if I was really dead."

At this point her eyes were red and swollen because of the crying.

Robin's head snapped up immediately, like it was on a spring. "Don't say that! Don't you ever dare to say that. We are beyond happy that you are back with us. It's impossible to describe how grateful I am that you are here with me, with us. The children are just ecstatic you are back, they just care about that and nothing else. Do you understand me?" Robin was going to repeat those words to her until she believed them, it didn't matter how many times he would have to do that. She was too important to him and to their children and he would do everything to make her understand it.

Regina nodded but Robin wasn't sure she really believed that.

"As for Marian, yes I was happy with her but it was nothing compared to how much I was, and I am, with you. And it took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize that, but I don't want any other kind of happiness if not the one I have with you."

Robin was breathless. Regina was speechless. She could see in his eyes how much what he was saying was the truth, how much he believed in what he was saying and that he was determined to make her believe it too.

"What are you saying?" she whispered.

Robin took her hands again. He had let them go when he had finished talking to dry their tears but he needed that contact with her, almost to make sure she was really there and she wouldn't disappear.

"I'm saying that I'm tired of running away from my feelings and hiding them from you. Yes, it scares the hell out of me but I want to be with you again. I don't want us to live in two different houses, I don't want to go to bed and wake up alone. I don't want us to share a meal just when the kids ask for it, or to see you only when the kids have practice or on the weekend because they have some kind of competition or their birthdays. I don't want moments, I want forever."

He stopped to take a breath. He lifted his hand to dry the fresh tears that were rolling down Regina's face at the same time she did the same to dry the tears on his face. They both smiled at the gesture.

"Then what do you want?" Regina whispered to him.

"I want us to live together again, here. I want to go to bed and wake up with you in my arms, even your iced cold feet against my legs. I want us to always eat together as a family and not just sometimes. I want the pancakes on Sunday morning, to help the kids to prepare breakfast in bed for you on your birthday and mother's day. I want to spend a quiet afternoon with you curled up on the couch. I want to wait for you when you work late with your favorite meal and a glass of wine. I want to show you how much I love you. I- "

But Regina interrupted him. "You love me? You still love me? Despite everything I have done?" And she sounded so insecure saying those words. Robin had said those words several times during their conversation but only now she began to fully understand them.

He put his hands on her cheeks, passing his thumbs under her eyes. "I loved you when we were kids in school and I didn't know a thing about love, I love you now and I will love you forever."

Regina let out a sob and Robin kissed her temple before pressing his forehead on her. He kissed her again before pulling her in his arms.

They stayed like that for an undefined amount of time. Regina was the first one to move. At Robin's interrogative expression, she explained that her body couldn't handle that position anymore.

He moved immediately, helping her lay down on her back over the couch. He sat down next to her side and tucked a wild lock of hair.

Robin smiled down at her as she exhaled, letting the pain pass. How all her body could ache when she was hit in a leg and in an arm was a mystery to her.

When the pain lessened she looked up at him. "What are we going to do now?"

Robin reached for one of Regina's hands and began to run his thumb Iberia it. "I want to be with you. I'm sure we can make it work, if it's something you want too-"

She didn't let him finished to talk. "Of course, of course I want to, I just didn't expect you to." She tried to get up to look at him in the eye properly, but that was definitely the wrong move and she had to lay back down.

A smile broke on Robin's face like a child on christmas morning. "Then let's do this! Just imagine how happy the kids will be. And we can take it as slow as you want. You could move here permanently, in the room where you are now or upstairs, or you can go back to your apartment and we'll see how it goes. We should keep going to Dr. Hopper, or another shrink, we still need to work on a lot of things and we might need some help. We could go on dates, as much as it pains me we need to get to know each other again. We could…"

Robin began to enlist all the things they could do and Regina just looked at him with so much love in her eyes. She didn't have the heart to stop his rambling.

But their moment was interrupted when Regina's eyes began to drop. She opened and closed them a few times trying to wake herself up. Between the amazing sound of his voice, the time and the meds, she was literally falling asleep.

"I think it's time for bed for someone," Robin said and Regina reopened her eyes, as she had closed without even realising it. She was ready to protest, saying she was fine but a yawn interrupted her and saying anything was useless.

Regina looked away from Robin a bit embarrassed. "I'm so sorry. Everything you are saying is perfect, amazing and wonderful and I can't wait to do all of those things with you, to try everything again, but..." She said apologetically. She didn't need to finish the sentence, it had happened other times that she would just fall asleep out of the blue.

Robin looked at the watch and mentally kicked himself. It was pretty late, it was almost one in the morning, and Regina had complained about that particular problem for weeks now.

Robin got up and bent towards her to pick her up. When Regina realized what he was doing, she began to protest. "You know I can walk just fine, right?"

But he picked her up anyway. "Of course I know," He replied after picking her up. Her arms automatically went around his neck and her head on his shoulder. Robin seized the opportunity to kiss her head and she snuggled more into him. So much for not wanting to be carried.

She looked up at him. "Then why?"

He smirked down at her. Her and her independence. "Would you let me spoil you for once, yeah?"

"What if I say no?" she asked as he began to walk toward her room.

"Too bad." He replied as they both smiled.

Robin managed to open the door and slowly put Regina on the bed.

"Thank you, but you know that now I have to get up again, right?"

"What? Why? What's wrong?" Maybe it was a bit too much, but he couldn't help it if he was worried.

She smiled at him, at this sweet sweet man that despite everything still cared for her. Hell, he still loved her. "Everything is okay but I have to go to the bathroom. I mean we can't tell the kids they need to wash their teeth before bed and we don't do it. Plus I have to use the toilet." She explained.

Robin nodded and began to move in order to help her but Regina stopped him immediately, telling him she could go alone and he could go to bed.

It took her a while to do everything she had to do in the bathroom and when she came back, she expected the room to be empty but Robin was still sitting on her bed waiting for her to come back. She stopped at the door and smiled at him.

Feeling observed Robin looked up and he reached his hand out toward her. Regina took it and he pulled her lightly until she was sat next to him.

Without letting go of her hand or breaking eye contact with her, he tucked again the wild lock of hair behind her ear. Her hair was at that stupid lengh that a hair tie cound't hold all of it.

"Whatever is going on between us, I think it's better if we wait before telling the kids," she whispered to him.

He looked at her, worried that she had changed her mind. "Why? Do you think it's not going to work?"

"No, of course not. But this situation is new for all of us. I just wanted a moment for the two of us to realize everything before telling the kids, who will tell everybody else and everybody will come for us."

She had a point, Robin thought and he told her so. They could wait a bit before revealing everything to the world.

"You know, I haven't told you back yet, but I love you too. I never stopped loìving you. I was just too scared to say it, and for you to reject me or send me to hell. Then you said you had a girlfriend and as much as it killed me, I tried to be happy for you. You are an amazing man and you deserve someone who can make you happy, not someone who broke your heart. So Robin Locksley I love you and I'll do everything to try to fix what I have done."

If someone asked them they wouldn't have known who started it, but a moment they were looking at each other and a second later they were kissing, giving into a moment they have been craving for so long.

They clung to each other, his hand in her hair, and neither of them wanted to let go. They broke apart when the need for air was inevitable. Their foreheads were against each other and their eyes closed.

He caressed her cheek lovingly with his free hand as they kissed again, while Regina ran her fingers through his hair, all of this without stopping the kissing.

Even if it was hard to, Robin pulled back from her, telling her that it was better to stop everything there before it became too much. She also needed to rest, that was what had brought them into her room originally.

Regina didn't hide her disappointment but Robin was right. Regina kissed him one more time before she moved to go to bed. When Robin got up, he kissed her once she was lying down. They exchanged a sweet 'I love you' and with one last glance he left the room, closing the door behind him.

But their plan to wait was doomed from the beginning. As much as they tried the following morning, they couldn't keep their hands to themselves, always finding a reason to accidentally touch each other. Then there were the stolen kisses and glances and the change in the behavior.

They had breakfast together with the children before they all had to go, leaving Regina home alone. Well not really alone, their puppy was with her and right now was nudging at her leg to get another treat. Regina was able to resist for a good thirty second before giving him dog cookies. After cleaning the kitchen she curled up the couch with Arrow, waiting for whoever was going to take her to physical therapy that day.

Someone rang the doorbell not even ten minutes after she had lied on the couch. When Regina went to open the door, she found her mother on the other side.

Not a 'good morning' or 'how are you', the first thing that came out from Cora's mouth after scrutinizing her daughter from head to toe was: "Something happened, I can see it on your face."

Regina huffed and moved to the side to let her mother in. "Good morning to you mom."

"So what happened?" She asked again, sitting down on the couch.

"Nothing happened." But she was as believable as a kid who said they didn't eat the cookies but they had crumbs on them.

Cora eyes her suspiciously. "Nothing, really?"

"Nothing ." Regina said again, sitting down on the opposite side of the couch, the dog in her lap almost like a barrier between the two women.

"Then why are you so smiling this morning?"

"I'm not all smiling." Regina sounded almost offended.

"Yes you are." Her mother fired back.

"I'm not." They were both stubborn and that 'yes and not' could go on to the infinite and beyond.

Cora bent forward to grab her daughter's hand. "Yes you are. You are smiling, the light in your eyes is completely back and it looks like you got rid of a burden. So want to try again? Or do you prefer keeping it for yourself for a bit more?"

The two women stared at each other. Regina was struggling with the decision: on one side she wanted to keep it for herself, like she and Robin had talked about, but on the other hand she couldn't bring herself to keep that secret from her mother. The younger brunette was the first one to talk, with a huge smile on her face that broke out as soon as she started to talk. "Robin and I kind of got back together last night."

Cora began to smile too. "For real?"

"Yes." Regina was almost shy while saying it. "We talked, we realized things, we explained things to each other and we decided to try again and to make this work."

Both women were trying to not cry but there were tears in their eyes. "I'm so happy for both of you!"

And she really was. Her daughter and her son-in-law had been through so much, and they deserved to be happy together. And their children deserved their parents together. She pulled her daughter toward her and she hugged her tight. Hugging her was something she would never take for granted anymore.

Regina was the first to speak again without pulling away from her mother. "But we also decided that we want to wait before telling everyone, especially the kids."

"My mouth is sealed. And now we should go or else you'll be late."

When Robin entered his office that morning he was happy, happier than what he had been in the last five years.

He met Ruby in the hallway and Robin stopped her to give her the coffee he bought.

"For you." But the girl eyed him suspiciously. "It's just coffee and it's not poisoned, I promised." He said, waltzing past her. Ruby followed him into his office.

"What's gotten into you?"

"I don't know what you are talking about."

"This." She said moving her free hand in front of Robin.

"You walked in here like you were walking on air, you were smiling and you brought me coffee."

Robin didn't have the time to say anything because Ruby let out a squeal. "You two are back together!"

Who the hell she had come to that conclusion just observing him. It took Robin a bit to answer. "What? What are you talking about?"

"It's the only explanation for how you are right now." A grin on her face.

Robin was at a loss of words at that point. "From the look on your face I get that Regina doesn't want to tell yet so my mouth is sealed."

"How do you know it's her who wants to wait?" Robin realized too late that he had confirmed what Ruby only suspected.

"Thank you for confirming it. And to answer your question: you are the one for the big things while she's the discreet and reserved one." With that said Ruby left the room leaving an astonished Robin staring at the space that was previously occupied by the girl.

Also David had noticed something different in Robin but when he asked Ruby, she lifted her head, she looked at him from head to toe, she said she had no idea what he was talking about and walked away, leaving once again a man with an open mouth.

The plan of keeping it quiet failed even more after therapy, when Cora and Regina went out to eat something and Zelena joined them. It took Zelena two whole minutes to realize what had happened and when she did, she was smiling wickedly.

"You know sis, you just won me 100 bucks." She said at some point during lunch.

Regina stopped mid-drinking and looked at her sister. "Excuse me, what?!"

Zelena didn't say a word, on the contrary she began to eat again. Regina began to look between her mother and sister but they were both eating and ignoring her, but they couldn't hide the smirk that was on their faces.

Zelena took her time to swallow what she was eating before she answered her sister. "Neal and I had a little bet on about when you and Robin would get back together."

"You what?" The younger of the two sisters couldn't believe what she was hearing. "And you? Did you know about it?" She asked her mother, who was trying to avoid looking in her direction.

Her mother was about to start speaking but the younger woman stopped her. "You know what? I don't care if you know or not."

"Now you, Greeny, will tell me everything about this bet." Regina addressed her sister with the nickname that was born after a halloween where Zelena was dressed up as the Wicked Witch of the West.

Cora snorted at the nickname and Zelena looked indignant. Greeny and Queeny, two nicknames born after their Halloween costumes. They had often used those nicknames when they wanted to insult each other after an argument, but it wasn't anything serious.

"I thought we agreed to not talk about it anymore."

"Not a chance. Now speak."

With a huge deep breath, Zelena began to explain how, after the shock of her return had passed, she and Neal made a bet about how long it would take for the two of them to get back together.

For Neal it was going to be sooner rather than later because of how much they loved each other, but for Zelena it was going to take a lot of time because of how stubborn they both are and how they were acting around each other.

Regina studied her sister, Cora did the same with both her daughters and Zelena was wondering what Regina was going to do to her and Neal to get back at them. A good lunch after all.

Dinner with the kids went like breakfast. The more they tried to avoid suspicion, the more obvious they were. They were almost sure that Roland had caught them kissing, but he hadn't said a word about it and neither did them.

Like the previous night, they were on the couch together, but this time they were cuddling, Regina pressed into Robin's side, his arm around her shoulders and his hand was moving up and down her arm. Every now and then Robin would kiss her head and Regina would smile up at him.

"My mother and sister know," she said casually.

Robin looked at her. "I thought you wanted to wait to tell them."

"I did and I haven't told them, they guessed."

He snorted. "Ruby did the same."

Regina began to laugh, followed by Robin. "We're awful at keeping this secret."

"True."

Regina also told Robin about the bet. He wasn't happy but he wasn't angry either, annoying was a better description of how he felt, and he was actually quite happy that her family was happy with their decision.

When the time to go to bed rolled around, they did the same thing as the previous night, minus Robin carrying Regina to her room. They walked together to her bedroom, hand in hand, and they shared a sweet kiss, okay maybe more than just one, and an 'I love you' before they went to their respective rooms.

That was one long week trying to avoid any suspicion and they were sure they weren't fooling anyone, but at the same time no one said anything to them so they really didn't know.

Every Friday Robin and Regina had an appointment with Dr. Hopper, one week together and one week one after the other. This time they were together. Their change was noticed immediately by the doctor, but he preferred waiting for them to say something instead of pushing them.

Robin had his hand on the small of her back as they walked into the room and they took each other's hand as soon as they sat down on the couch.

The doctor asked them how they were and if they had something to share.

They shared a sweet look before they started to talk about that night, the night that changed everything for them again.

The doctor was pleased to hear about their talk, the improvement in their relationship and encouraged them to keep going like this.

"And there is something that you haven't talked about and would like to do it now?" Dr. Hopper asked them.

Robin looked like he had something to say but wasn't sure if doing it or not.

Robin was nervous and he squeezed Regina's hand, maybe a bit too hard, and she squeezed it back.

Robin turned a bit toward Regina. "Do you remember your birthday, when you were surprised I remembered your favorite flowers?"

She nodded, tears began to form in her eyes. She had the feeling it wasn't going to be a happy talk.

"I used to bring those flowers to your grave every two weeks."

Regina's eyes widened and she swallowed. "Why… Why that specific amount of time?" It was rather a stupid thing to ask but it was the only thing that came out for her mouth.

"Because in the first months after your funeral I used to go and talk to you every day and I saw it was the amount of time those flowers needed before they had to be changed." It was so difficult for him to say those words aloud.

Regina's cheeks were now wet with tears. "Oh Robin…"

"It wasn't like I could ever forget something about you but those flowers... For the first time in years I was going to buy them for a happy reason and I'm not going to lie, I broke down in the car-"

Regina pulled him into her arms as he cried. He had cried a lot of times in that office, but it was the first time someone actually comforted him.

Dr. Hopper let them have a moment then he spoke with them again. "Regina, do you want to say something?"

She looked up and dried her tears. "I… I…" But she didn't know exactly what to say. That she was sorry? She had said that so many times already but what else could she say?

"Saying how sorry I am is not going to erase what I did. I'm glad that he told me this. Even if it hurts, I want to know everything. It's not fair to him to suffer alone. I want to know everything you are willing to share with me."

Dr. Hopper didn't speak, he just observed them. What they were doing was important, talking about all of that, but he also focused on how they were around each other. When they started doing therapy, they would sit as far as they could but now they were so near each other that nothing could pass between them. That was definitely an improvement.

The return at home was silent. The emotions were still high and they both needed time to process everything that had happened. Robin grabbed her hand as they drove home.

The house was quiet, the kids at their grandparents, where they would also spend the saturday, being spoiled rotten so they could enjoy the time to themselves. Frankly, they needed some time for themselves after their session with the doctor that day. They didn't talk, they just sat on the couch, Regina between Robin's legs so he could hug her.

Like they did for the whole week after their talk, that friday Robin escorted Regina to her bedroom, kissed her several times and told her he loved her, but that night something was off. When Robin asked her if something was wrong she said that everything was fine but it was clear as day that it wasn't true. Robin decided to let it go, figuring she was going to talk to him when she was ready.

Robin was woken up by a scream, the worst scream he had ever heard. The kids weren't at home so that left only one option: Regina.

He almost ran to her room and when he opened the door, Robin found her sitting in her bed, breathing hard and tears running down her face. Arrow was next to her, nudging at her hand and licking her face, but she was unresponsive.

Robin approached the bed slowly, so as not to scare her. He tried calling her name a couple of times, but when it didn't work he took her hand and slowly began to pass his thumb on it.

It took a few minutes, but Regina's unfocused eyes locked into Robin's and she began to breathe a bit slower.

"Robin." She whispered. It was a desperate sound, a request of help she wasn't able to voice.

Robin pulled her in his arms and began to rock her like it was one of the children. "It's okay, love, I'm right here. Just breathe."

Regina hadn't stopped crying, but her breathing was getting regular. Robin kissed her head. "That's it, darling, it's okay."

Robin laid back on the bed, Regina still in his arms. They stayed like that for what felt like an eternity, until Regina stopped crying completely. Robin kept murmuring sweet nothing to her, kissing her head all that time.

Robin made a move to get up but Regina stopped him, in her eyes a plea for him to stay with her.

"I'm just going to grab some water, I'll be right back, darling." But Regina didn't let go. "I swear to you, I'll be back in a moment." Regina let go of his hand, Robin kissed her head before leaving the room and, as he had promised her, he was back not even two minutes later with a glass of water. That time was enough for the dog to steal his place and Regina was now petting him.

He handed the glass to her and he moved the dog a bit to settle again on the bed next to Regina. She put the now empty glass on the nightstand and she resumed her place against Robin, Arrow curled up at their feet.

Robin was running his fingers through her hair when he spoke. "Do you feel like talking about it?"

Her first thought was to say no, but she cleared her voice to speak. "It was like an upgrade of the same nightmare."

She began to tremble and Robin reassured her and told her to take her time. "There was my whole family, and he made me watch while he shot them. Then it was yours, the kids and he left you for last."

She was crying again, not that he could blame her. What she had just told him was horrendous. He didn't say anything, just waited for her to continue.

"He made me watch as he shot all of you and it was horrible, then he shot me and the next thing I remember was seeing your face and hearing your voice." The agony in her voice was horrible even to listen and Robin did the only thing that he knew would calm her: hugging her tight while they lied down together.

They didn't sleep. Regina slipped in and out of a light sleep all night, waking up every few minutes and whenever Arrow would lick her hand. Robin, on his part, stayed awake all night too to watch over her.

When he imagined sharing a bed with Regina, this was not what he imagined. He had imagined a happy moment, going to bed with a smile on their faces, falling asleep in each other's arms. Never in a million years had he imagined something like that. He hated seeing her like this, so in pain. And what he hated most was that there was nothing he could do to help her if not being there for her. For him that wasn't enough. He just hoped one day they could share a bed and be happy. He was happy to have her in his arms again, he just detested the situation.

It was around eight when Regina moved from her position pillowed against Robin and the man looked at her.

"Hey."

"Hey yourself." She whispered back.

"How are you feeling?"

Regina looked down and took a deep breath. How was she feeling? That was the one million dollar question. "Like shit. Better than last night but definitely like shit."

Robin nodded and didn't press more. "What do you say if I attempt to distract you with an amazing breakfast?"

She pretended to think about it. "And what will this amazing breakfast be?" A tentative smile on her face.

"Pancakes, crunchy bacon and eggs, everything accompanied by a cup of your favorite coffee."

Regina looked at him, the shy smile still on her face. "There's just a problem with your plan. It's just the two of us, all that food could feed an army."

He looked at her like she had said something terrible. "There's no such a thing as too much food. And it's not just us, there's also Arrow." And said dog lifted up his head at the mention of his name.

"Idiot." She said smiling.

He grabbed her hand and together they went to the kitchen. They ended up making that huge breakfast Robin wanted and yes, they also shared with Arrow who was sitting between their chairs so that he could catch everything that might fall.

The children were brought home by their grandfather that afternoon. They said their 'hellos' to their father but they immediately ran to their mother, who was preparing dinner.

Robin looked at his ex father-in-law, or he could consider him again as father-in-law since they were back together, and noticed he had a strange look.

"Did something happen? There's something wrong?" He asked but the older man just looked at him.

Robert's voice was extremely low. "I've told you this when you were sixteen and you had started dating my daughter, and I'm telling you this again now: I won't destroy you because you're the father of my grandchildren and I wouldn't do that to them, but if you make her suffer, I'll make you suffer." Of course he knew, Cora must have told him.

Robin didn't have the time to reply back because Regina appeared behind him with a dish towel in hand.

"Hey dad."

"Hello, dear." He said, kissing her head.

It didn't matter that he wasn't her biological father, he considered her as his daughter the same way she considered him her father, but always remembering her biological one.

Regina looked between the two men in front of her. "Is everything okay?"

"Yes of course. Why wouldn't it be?" He answered way too fast to be true.

Regina looked at his father but he said the same thing. She nodded but she didn't believe them one bit.

"Do you want to stay for dinner? It's nothing special, just hamburgers and salad." The cheering of the kids because of the hamburgers became a groan when they heard about the salad.

"No, I have to go back to your mother but thank you."

They said their goodbyes and the family of five went to the kitchen to prepare dinner. Together. As they used to do.

Regina was torn. She was at the base of the stairs and part of her, her head, knew she had to go to her room, but another part, her heart, wanted to go to Robin's.

She jumped when she felt a hand on her back.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. What are you doing?" He had catched her moving her head from her bedroom to the direction of his.

"Battling with myself."

He put his arms around her and kissed her. "About what?"

"Staying in my room or going to yours. You keep away the nightmares," she said truthfully.

"In that case…" Robin moved to take her in his arms but Regina stopped him.

"We can't. What are we going to tell them?"

"That mom and dad are back together?" Regina looked at him and raised an eyebrow.

Right, Robin thought, they had decided to wait before telling them. "We can always wake up before then so that you can go to the other room."

It wasn't a bad idea so together, hand in hand, they walked up to what used to be their bedroom.

It was strange at the beginning. They settled into bed on their respective side, leaving a space between them before giving up and cuddling up together. Regina's head on Robin's chest and his arms around her.

"You should be here again."

Regina looked at him confused. "I already did. All my things are in the room downstairs."

"No, I mean here, here. In this room with me, where you should always have been."

Regina sat up a bit to look better at him. "Are you sure? We just got back together, what if it doesn't work?" Moving back in that room wasn't exactly 'take everything slow'.

"It's going to work. I have never been more sure about something in my life." He had so much love and faith in his eyes. Regina just nodded.

"Regina, do you want to move into our home, especially this bedroom, completely?" He asked seriously but a smirk was forming into his face. Neither of them were able to keep a straight face.

Regina put her hands on either side of his face. "Yes, you big idiot." She said thinking about the bedroom part, but with a huge smile on her face that Robin hadn't seen in years.

Robin took the initiative and kissed her, and it felt almost like their first kiss, full of unknown and love at the same time.

For the first time in almost five years, Regina slept without a problem all night, only waking up in the morning. Slept in as much as possible with three children in the house...

Henry, Aly and Roland had decided to do something nice for their mother since they had woken up before her, and apparently also their father: breakfast in bed.

The only problem was that their mother wasn't in her bedroom or bathroom, or in any other part of the house, and that scared them. They left everything on the bed and they ran up the stairs calling for their father.

Robin and Regina woke up at the first scream but they didn't have time to react before the door slammed open.

"Daddy we can't find mommy..." They yelled together but the words died as they saw their mother in their father's bed.

Aly didn't waste time and ran into her mother's waiting arms, and Regina kissed her head as soon as the girl was in her arms.

Roland and Henry stood next to the bed, unsure of what they were seeing and how to react.

"What are you doing in dad's bed?"

They had somehow gotten used to the fact their parents didn't share a bed anymore, so seeing their mother there was strange. And to Roland even more since he didn't really remember the time his parents shared a bed.

Regina opened her arms to welcome her other two children. "Come here you two. Daddy and I have something to talk about with you."

Henry and Roland jumped immediately on the bed and cuddled between their parents.

Henry looked up with his big curious eyes. "Is something bad? You're going away again?"

"Oh, Henry. No, it's nothing bad, on the contrary, and I'm not going anywhere. Literally."

"What do you mean?" Alyson wondered.

Regina and Robin shared a look, as if to say 'it's okay to tell them everything' and so they did.

"What would you say if mom moved here completely?

"But daddy, mommy is already here."

Regina laughed. "You're right my little knight, but what your father meant is a bit different."

Regina moved so that she could look at the three children. "Since your father and I are back together, what do you say if I move here definitely, taking all our thighs from the apartment so we can all live together again?"

Robin took Regina's hand as they watched the wheels in their kids' heads work to catch up with everything.

Aly, still in her mother's arms, was the first one to realize what her mother had said. She moved so that she could actually watch her mother into her eyes.

"You are together again?!" She said like she wasn't sure about what she had heard.

Regina smiled, nodding in confirmation and Aly literally tackled her down, making her lie on the bed with the little girl on top of her. Regina's body wasn't too happy about that but she ignored the ache and hugged her daughter.

Robin smiled at his girls, then he turned at his boys. "Your sister's thought about it is clear. What do you two think about it?"

"About you and mommy together again?"

Robin nodded at Henry's question. The older boy shared a look with his brother, as to ask each other if they were okay with the situation. They both nodded and before their parents knew, both boys jumped on them laughing and yelling 'yes!' and 'finally!'.

Regina and Robin began to laugh too and they closed the three children in a group hug. This was definitely something that both adults had missed and they couldn't be happier to have it back.

They went to Granny's for breakfast to celebrate. Now that the children knew it was useless to keep their relationship hidden, it wouldn't take long for everyone to know.

"Look at my favorite family!" Granny greeted them. They all hugged and kissed her cheek before the older woman led them to their booth. Granny smirked when she saw their hands laced together but she didn't say a word.

"We need to tell the rest of the family. If they find out from the kids or from someone else, they are going to strangle us."

Robin thought about it. She was right. Their families would definitely prefer hearing everything from them.

They were kind of saved by Cora who had decided to invite all of them for dinner. Both robin and Regina suspected it was because she knew they were back together but they didn't say a word about it.

Once home they made a plan on how to break the news to the family member who didn't know yet. It was extremely childish but they decided to do it anyway.

Someone could think that they were going too fast, in a week they had shared some of their deepest fear and their feelings, but they had already wasted so much time and they didn't want to waste anymore.

They cooked lunch together and the afternoon was spent watching three different movies, one for each child. Henry and Aly shared the love for Marvel so they chose Iron Man and Captain Marvel, while Roland chose to watch Batman Begins.

They were the last ones to arrive. Despite hate being late, it was necessary that everybody was there before them or their plan wouldn't work.

Robin took both his and Regina's phone and Facetimed his parents and sisters (even if Ursula was his sister-in-law, Robin considered her just his sister). They had thought about telling Will the next day but the problem was solved when they found out Cora had invited him and Ruby too.

"Why did you call Robin? Something wrong?" Both his mother and sister were bombarding him with questions, but he just said he had to show them something and since they couldn't come into town, he had to call them.

Regina knocked at the door and as soon as it was opened the children ran inside, their parents on their heels, yelling 'Mommy and daddy are together! Mommy and daddy are together!'

Zelena and Ruby, who already knew, smirked at them, Cora looked at them fondly, from the phones came a 'WHAT!' from Robin's sisters and a 'I KNEW IT!' from his mother.

On the other hand Robert and Neal threw Robin dirty looks, Regina was "their girl" after all.

Robin and Regina talked briefly with his family and they said their goodbyes with the promise of a visit soon, here or there was indifferent.

For Neal the moment of being the overprotective big brother didn't last long because he knew with Robin she was in good hands, and also because Zelena went to him to talk about their bet.

This didn't go unnoticed by Regina who went immediately to them. Her intentions were to pretend to be super angry with them but reality was that she couldn't stay angry even if she tried, she was happy that it was impossible. So yes she was annoyed but what sister isn't annoyed for something with their siblings?

Dinner went surprisingly well. The whole time was full of laughter, jokes and teasing to Robin and Regina and all the tension that was always present was just a distant memory. Everything was slowly going back to normal.

Putting the kids to bed that night was a challenge, they were still too excited from what had happened that day and all the sugar that was in the desert their grandmother made wasn't helpful either.

When all the three monsters were asleep, Robin began to move toward their bedroom but Regina went towards the stairs. Robin looked at her with an interrogative expression. Had he misunderstood something? Why was she going downstairs?

Regina walked up to him and kissed him softly. "All my things are still downstairs, remember?"

Of course. The fact that they had talked about it didn't mean that magically all her things were automatically moved to his, their, bedroom.

He nodded, realizing the reality of the situation. He put his hand on her hips and pulled her toward him. "Well, we should rectify that." He said, smirking.

She put her arms around his neck and kissed him. "I thought so too-" Robin began to move before she could finish talking and she had to stop him. "But we are not going to do it now. We just got the kids to sleep and I'm way too tired just thinking about doing this stairs multiple times tonight to bring all my things up here."

"So…"

"So tomorrow while everyone will be at work and school, and I'll be here bored out of my mind I'll sort everything out. I'll call my landholder and see what I have to do to withdraw from my contract. Then I'll have to convince your brother and mine to do the hard work and help me move all my stuff here from said apartment. And then I'll ask whoever will drive me, mostly like my mother, to help me move all my stuff from the room downstairs to the one up here."

Robin kissed her, his hands lower and lower down her back. "You are clearly the brain of this relationship."

Regina kissed him this time. "Yes, yes I am. I always have been." She said before kissing him again.

They went two separate ways to get ready for sleep. Robin was already in bed when Regina came back upstairs. She stopped on the door observing him: his hair that had turned slightly silver near his temples, his eyes now framed by glasses when he read (like he was doing in that moment), his muscles and that kind smile that was on his face even when he didn't realize it.

Feeling observed, Robin looked up from his book. He put it on his nightstand and extended his hand to her. "Come here, darling."

Regina didn't hesitate and she immediately cuddled up against him. Robin hugged her tight and kissed her head and then her lips. "Right here, where you belong."

She smiled and kissed him again. They fell asleep like that, Robin's strong arms around her and her head on his shoulder, happier than they have been in a very long time.
