Title: Crimson Tides
Rating: T
Summary: Kagome and the gang come upon Sesshoumaru, alone and covered in somebody's blood. (One-shot)
Warnings: Contains innuendos of violence, possibly death (I sort of left that to your imagination).
Author's Notes: I wrote this in about twenty minutes so it's not exactly as descriptive as I'd like but oh well, I'm bad at getting into the mindset of other people's character anyways. Enjoy.
Something had happened. Something bad.
Everyone felt the demonic aura but when Inuyasha had smelt blood on the wind, the group had decided they'd better check things out.
And what they found both confused and shocked them.
They came upon a cliff and on the edge of that cliff stood Sesshoumaru, his back towards them. At first glance everything appeared normal. But Tenseiga was unsheathed and had been stabbed into the ground behind the stoic lord and he didn't move or speak or acknowledge them in anyway. Kagome followed his gaze to find nothing in particular, just the movement of the waves in the sea before them. Frowning, she looked back at Sesshoumaru, moving closer for a better look.
Behind her, Sango, Miroku, and Shippo mumbled amongst themselves, wondering what was going on, where Jaken and Rin were, and what would happen now that Inuyasha was approaching his elder brother.
Kagome circled the demon prince, keeping a safe distance between them. Though on second thought, she doubt that would matter in the end because even though Sesshoumaru was stock still and had yet to acknowledge them, knowing how fast he could move, she didn't feel that much comfort in his immobility. As she rounded the demon, it seemed a bit of him rubbed off on her, as she too froze, horrified by what she saw.
Beside her, she heard Inuyasha say something but whether addressing her or his brother, his words were nothing but a blur, her mind focused on something else entirely.
Sesshoumaru was covered in blood. Kagome gasped. There was so much blood. Then his golden eyes shifted and he looked at Inuyasha and Kagome from the corner of his eye. Kagome scanned his kimono and saw no tears, just blood.
So where did the blood come from…?
Then she noticed something.
His arm was rigid at his side, the only sign that something was going on inside and judging by his tight fist, it was anger.
She met his eyes, they remained blank, void of feeling, and he seemed bored of their presence. He turned his gaze back to the sea. Kagome noticed his fist loosen and from his grasp a small piece of cloth dangled.
Though blackened by blood, Kagome could see a bit of yellow and orange following a checkerboard type pattern even on the tiny portion of whatever it came from.
Wait…
Didn't-?
Kagome clasped a hand over her mouth, gasping, "Rin!"
Sesshoumaru turned his head to look at her, narrowing his eyes as his clutch on the fabric tightened. He tucked the fabric into his obi and turned around, drawing Tenseiga from its puncture in the ground. Sheathing the healing sword, Sesshoumaru stalked past the group and disappeared into the forest without giving a backward glance.
