Gundam Rise Purpose
Chapter 12: Build fight repeat
The field had been set; a grassy plain was as good a place as any to have a battle. Two warriors stood either side of one another, their weapons at the ready. One was taller, the other shorter, but the advancements of their armour could be debated. Both were representations of different eras. Their eyes were wide, matching the sizes of their heads. One could almost describe them as cute; another term was instead used to describe them. Super Deformed or SD, cute Gundams. The Command Gundam narrowed its eyes at the Knight Gundam as it raised its lance. Both Gundams lunged forward as the music began.
Gundam Build Fighters OST-Build fight
Command Gundam fired its missiles, sending a flurry of projectiles flying towards the Knight. The Knight Gundam threw its lance aside and drew its sword. It sliced each missile in half and flew to the side as the Command Gundam began firing its heavy Vulcans. With its cloak flapping behind it the Knight Gundam skid across the floor, grinding its feet against the grass. It raised its shield, blocking a flurry of the bullets that the Command Gundam fired. The Command Gundam jumped into the air, firing another volley of missiles. But the Knight Gundam dived towards its lance. It slid the sword back into its shield and grabbed the lance. The Knight Gundams visor slid over its eyes and portions of its legs folded, changing into a set of hooves. In centaur mode the Knight Gundam galloped across the field, easily dodging the bombs the Command Gundam launched. The Command Gundam fired its rifle, but the Knight blocked the bullets with its shield. The green machine widened its eye as the knight threw its lance, sending it crashing into the Command Gundam's chest.
"Battle Ended!"
End OST
The field began to fade away and the Gunpla figures ceased moving. Mahalia clapped hands with Junko and Peggy, both of whom had betted she could win. Her opponent however lowered his head in disappointment whilst his couch slapped his forehead. Woolf knew he shouldn't have betted on a newbie. Sei Iori was a good builder and mechanic, but when it came to actually using his creations he always fell short of better pilots.
"Twenty credits Woolf," Junko said sternly.
"Fine," the former racer growled.
"I was so sure I could win, I've had a lot more time to care for my Gunpla," Sei said.
Mahalia smiled at the blue haired boy. At fifteen Sei was already a mechanical prodigy and an artist too. His finely dressed but gruff friend Reiji clapped him on the shoulder.
"More confidence Sei, it'll help you in the next battle," the red haired youth said.
"You did try hard though," Mahalia smiled, kissing the boy's forehead.
Sei blushed and gushed bashfully.
"This gaming system is exclusive to the Build colony, once its publicly announced people from all over the world will come here to Gunpla fight," Sei explained.
"I'm not too into the Gunpla side of things, but the piloting bit is fun," Reiji said.
"Are you a pilot Reiji?" Junko asked.
"I'm mostly a hobby pilot, I Gunpla battle for Sei!"
"Sensou could use a system like this for pilot training, these Plavsky particles animate fields very well and the Gunpla is a good representation of how a well maintained machine can make all the difference over a poorly maintained one," Peggy explained.
"But you need a good pilot too," Woolf pointed out.
"Yeah," Sei sighed.
"Practice makes perfect kid, you'll be a super pilot in no time, you know Sensou is looking for some good mechanics," the white haired man grinned.
"You've already conned my husband into joining," Sei's mother Rinko suddenly entered the simulator room.
The Iori family ran a hobby shop in the colony, within the Keyakigaoka district. Overall the colony was huge and the family had lived there for years. Takeshi Iori, Sei's father had immigrated to the colony when Sei was born. The dark haired man sat outside of the store on a park bench. Sat next to him was another Sensou member. Dressed in a sharp red business suit, his curly blonde hair hanging over most of his face, the Lieutenant covered his eyes with a pair of dark sunglasses.
"So you'll take the job?" the Lieutenant asked.
"Yes, the work Sensou is doing…it sounds like its worth it, and I'd love to improve on those GM's. Once it comes to mass production Sensou will have a formidable force," Takeshi smiled.
"Frankly I think we're spoiling you a little too much," the Lieutenant chuckled.
"Sei, he follows the military you know, he admires your commander!"
"Vincent Rach doesn't have time for fans, he doesn't even time to go to the colonies, even with the Southern African conflicts coming to a close he's still going to be dragged down by the internal conflicts within governments and the terrorist threats still at large. The ones behind the abduction of the Gundam pilots, the attack on Celestial being and the conflict on the moon are a clear threat that has to be dealt with, so he's assigned that to the deep space team," the Lieutenant explained.
"I can't imagine Orb was too happy to have their own people conscripted," Takeshi said.
"Young Cagalli complains a lot but she has the foresight to understand why we have to take certain actions, that and the majority of the people already assigned to the space project volunteered to become Sensou members, they stayed on Orb after the Archangel left after all, they understand the sting of a tyrants gaze. Sensou are the ones whom keep those tyrants in line, so long as we have strength then the Earth and the Plants will not show any outright hostility to one another, yet at least."
Takeshi sighed as he stood up and turned to the window of his store. He waved at his wife and son and closed his eyes. The Build colony had become a hub for independent contractors and mobile suit developers. One force had already occupied the colony, working with PPSE, the company behind the Build colony and the discovery of plavsky particles.
"I don't want my son to fight in another war, I understand that someday he may have to fight, but not without being prepared. Imagination can be a great and terrible thing, I'll do it, I'll join Sensou not just as a mobile suit developer, but as a fighter," a look of determination crossed Takeshi's face, causing the Lieutenant to smile.
PPSE stood for Plavsky Particle System Engineering, as well as being responsible for the creation of the simulators/gaming software, PPSE was also utilising the Plavsky particles for use as a power source, specifically in mobile weaponry. In the eyes of Sensou this made them potential allies, recruits or war profiteers. To the Earth Alliance however they were a means to an end. Chairman Mashita also felt that the Earth Alliance were a means to an end too. His end was riches, the only thing he ever wanted in the world. The purple haired man sat at his desk, his loyal assistant Miss Baker beside him. Both looked at the commander of the EAF's occupation forces. He wore a standard uniform, his green/blue hair had a unique style to it and his facial hair was cut into a fine moustache.
"So what do we start the bidding at?" Mashita asked.
"You misunderstand the reason for my visit chairman, this doesn't concern the potential purchasing of your company, it concerns Earth security," the commander explained sternly.
Mashita's smirk faded and a look of fear crossed his face.
"Security, I can assure you security in this colony is top notch," he said.
"Then are you aware that you have terrorists in your colony?" the commander asked.
"Terrorists? This isn't a violent place commander," Baker said.
"And hopefully we wont come to violence, I have no desire to see conflict reach this place, but I must have the full cooperation of your staff Chairman, including a list of all your registered citizens."
"Of course Commander Asano!"
Gekido felt his stomach turning; it had felt that way since he had left the Purpose. He stood in front of the mirror, his eye patch hanging off of the edge. His stomach continued to turn until he eventually emptied it, right into the sink. Gekido had vomited in the past; he had spent a full day vomiting in the Archangel's toilet when they hit the sea. But this wasn't seasickness or even a new type of space sickness. It wasn't even vomit, it was oil. Black oil gushed out of Gekido's mouth. He took off his shirt and looked at his chest, nothing, but when he examined his right shoulder blade he saw the subtle formation of circuitry beneath his skin.
"Damn it," he growled.
After cleaning himself up and putting his clothes and patch back on, Gekido floated into the hanger. There Quatre and Trowa were running diagnostics on the recovered OZ machines. Both were damaged and would probably best be sold off to whatever independent contractors they met there. It would also serve as good cover for when Gekido investigated PPSE.
"Is everything okay Gekido?" Quatre asked.
"I'm fine, did Roly recommend any contractors that wont ask too many questions?" Gekido asked.
"He gave us a small list, but they have connections to terrorist cells," the boy sighed.
"Damn it, I'd rather not get involved with people who might try to manipulate us, but he doesn't exactly have a lot of options," Gekido explained, looking up at the Purpose.
"What makes you think we're going to find someone who can repair the Purpose's neural network, wouldn't an AI researcher be more appropriate?" Trowa asked.
"The Purpose's development as a sentient being is going fine, I just want there to be some protection for his core, a direct hit to the head will destroy any chance of the Purpose being his own person and not just a thing trying to imitate being alive!"
"Then the Build colony is probably the best place, mobile suits aren't just developed here but improved as well. Some soldiers, if they were from wealthy families would take their mobile suits here to be improved," Quatre explained.
Gekido nodded his head, understanding that much of the Build colony was rooted in profit and the challenges that the improvement of mobile suits could offer.
"Um Gekido…" Roly's voice sounded uneasy over the intercom. "I think we have a bit of a problem, you'd better come to the bridge," the mechanic said.
The one eyed pilot sighed and walked into the bridge. He narrowed his eye at what he saw. Drake class carriers and the latest limited production ship the Darwin class. All were Earth federation ships, confirming Gekido's fear that the Sensou presence wasn't as big as he thought. Whilst it meant Vincent and his friends wouldn't discover him it also meant more trouble.
"They're requesting to see our cargo," Roly said, holding the microphone of his headset.
"Shit," Gekido muttered.
"What are we going to do?" the boy asked.
Gekido put a hand to his chin and sighed. He had to hope that the shroud armour would at least conceal the Purpose's identity enough to fool soldiers that hadn't seen it in action. As for his own identity, he had to hope for the best with that as well.
"Agree to an inspection, remember our cover story, we're junk dealers," Gekido said as he floated back to the hanger. "Trowa, Quatre, we've got some troops incoming, we should be able to avoid a fight in this situation, just act cool," he explained.
"Maybe you should tell yourself that," Trowa said.
Gekido let out a growl as he retreated to his quarters. He looked through the shuttles observation camera as two Strike Daggers floated up beside the shuttle.
"They're probably trying to determine whether we're smuggling weapons into the colony," Trowa said.
"Well at least we've hid the Purpose's weapons," Quatre sighed.
Gekido narrowed his eye, seeing a light in the distance that wasn't a star. One of the Strike Daggers seemed to take notice, turning away from the shuttle and looking towards the light. The light then split into four, causing the pilot to widen his eyes.
"WE HAVE INCOMING!" he yelled.
"EVERYONE BRACE YOURSELVES!" Gekido roared.
A blast flew into the Strike Dagger, blowing it to pieces and knocking the shuttle off course.
"SHIT!" Roly yelled.
Gekido immediately gripped a safety handle and slapped a breather mask over his mask. The explosion had cut a hole in the shuttle's hull, resulting in a breach. Gekido held on for dear life as the vacuum threatened to suck him out into space. He got a good view of the incoming machines though. Two were obviously from the same designer, one had blue armour and shifted its armour into a dragon form, the other had purple armour and a foldable cannon on its back. Gekido recognised the second machine, a heavily customised GUAIZ with rail cannons on its hips and scissor claws on its shield. The fourth leading unit was a green colour Marasai with gun barrels strapped to its back. A formidable force more than a match for the Strike Daggers the Earth forces launched. They launched six responders in total, with a seventh stopping at the shuttle.
"Please remain calm, get to the nearest shuttle station, station B74, we need an emergency repair team and medics for an incoming shuttle, get going now," the pilot told Roly.
Roly nodded his head and pushed the shuttle forward. Gekido could hear only his own breathing as he watching the Strike Dagger take a hit to the chest. The Guaiz fired its rail cannons at the incoming Strike Daggers. Two took the hits and one blocked, but the blasts decimated its shield. The Strike Dagger fired its rifle at the dragon shaped suit, only for the creature to tear through its chest with its claws. Gekido widened his eye as the pilot rolled out of the suit, only to be struck by the Marasai as it flew at two other Strike Daggers. The Marasai drew a beam sabre from its waist and cut the two Strike Daggers apart.
"Too easy," the pilot grinned.
He dodged the beams fired by one of the Strike Daggers and unleashed his gunbarrrels. The painted green barrels fired at the Earth suit, blowing off its leg and destroying its rifle. The purple armoured suit then moved towards its helpless target, igniting a beam blade in the palm of its clawed hand. Gekido let out a yell as the monster impaled the crippled suit; even as it fired its Vulcans in a vane last stand.
"Move towards the Drake class ship now," the Guaiz pilot said.
He ignited his beam scissors and split a Strike Dagger in half. Then he aimed his rifle at the Drake Class carrier's bridge.
"Say goodbye Earth alliance scum," he muttered before pulling the trigger.
Gekido lowered his gaze and slammed his fist against the wall, the drake class went down just as easily as the other suits had. Roly flew the shuttle into the colony hanger bay, just as an emergency PPSE works team began rolling their equipment. Mechanics in normal suits began securing the ship and Gekido looked at the emergency crew as they began squeezing through the tear in the hull. A doctor held a light up to his eye, checking his reaction.
"You're okay, its safe to take the mask off," the man said.
Gekido pulled the mask away from his mouth and nodded to the man. He noticed in the confusion that his cap had flown out of the gap, along with his eye patch.
'The Shrike team will be pissed,' Gekido sighed.
Builder and pilot Tatsuya Yuuki began assessing the damage done to the shuttle, alongside his partner Allan Adams. The brown haired youth slicked his hair back, a habit he had whenever he focused on his work, whether it was building or piloting. He removed a can from his belt and began spraying an adhesive onto patches of metal he had placed over the torn hull. Tatsuya turned his head to the shuttle crew, all of whom were being seen to by security services and a medical team. Roly was being treated for shock, whilst Trowa and Quatre were also receiving treatment. It wasn't necessary, but they both faked shock well. Gekido however was a more difficult story; the doctors gave him bandages to conceal his gouged eye. Commander Flit Asano exited the elevator and narrowed his eyes slightly at Gekido. He floated towards the young man, alongside two Earth Alliance soldiers.
"Your quarter's was hit?" Flit asked.
"Yeah," Gekido said gruffly.
"Are you a soldier?" Flit asked.
"I've been in combat before sir, why do you ask?"
"Its my job to ask questions, there is a terrorist presence on this colony, nothing has been hit yet but we have good intelligence," Flit explained.
"Just like the Americans at Iraq," Gekido huffed.
"Excuse me?" Flit narrowed his eyes.
Allan rubbed his head sheepishly as Tatsuya floated away from the shuttle.
"Never thought I'd see the day someone would stand up to Asano," Allan said.
"I guess some people aren't impressed by military records and stern demeanours," Tatsuya chuckled, folding his hair back down.
"Is there a problem young man?" Flit asked Gekido.
"Yeah, the attackers are outside the colony and your looking at the inside, your eyes are pointed in the wrong direction," Gekido said.
"My priority is the criminals inside the colony, the Build Colony can protect its walls, I'm worried about its heart, your name…now," Flit demanded.
"That wont be necessary," a voice said behind Flit.
The green haired man turned, narrowing his eyes even more. The man he faced wore civilian clothing, including a shirt and cargo shorts. His face was set in a stern expression like stone. He had brown hair and a finely cut moustache.
"Mr Ral, why are you interfering?" Flit growled slightly.
"These men are under the employ of Sensou, as you know the UN has given us sanctions allowing us to conduct our business free of interference, are you going to interfere commander?" the man asked.
"If Sensou is helping the terrorists then…"
"Like the man said before, you don't have any assurance or outright proof that there are terrorists here, other than the people attacking your ships and lets face it the EAF's reputation has gone downhill since the war ended," Ral explained.
Flit squeezed his hand into a fist before walking past Ral.
"This isn't over young man," he said over his shoulder.
Gekido shook his head and nodded to Ral.
"Thanks Mr Ral…" Gekido's eye twitched as he looked at Ral. "Wait a minute, do you have any relation to Ramba Ral?" he asked.
"We all have our secrets…Gekido Jaeger," Ral smirked.
"Its Gekido Kuzunagi now and I'd prefer my presence here to be kept…"
"GEKI-KUN!"
Gekido widened his eye as he felt the back of his head fit between two 'soft objects'. He noticed Peggy and Junko floating beside him, with Mahalia floating over him.
"GET OFF OF ME!" he yelled, blush creeping across his snarling face.
Quatre and Roly both blushed as Mahalia pulled her chest away from Gekido.
"For someone so fierce you really are an innocent child aren't you?" Junko asked.
"So cute too," Peggy smiled.
"Technically I'm two, maybe three years old," Gekido huffed.
"We have no problem with age," Mahalia said.
"STOP TEASING!" Gekido yelled.
Ral rolled his head back and laughed followed by Allan and Tatsuya. Another voice bellowed from the elevator and Gekido slowly turned with a growl. Woolf stood with his arms crossed, snorting and chuckling at Gekido's embarrassed expression.
"Welcome to the Build Colony," the former racer grinned.
Whilst Gekido and his companions began to settle into their temporary home, the Build Colony began to respond to the attackers at its gates. A hatch opened on the side of the colony and a green and pale white suit began to fly into battle. Inside sat a pilot without a flight suit. He had long black hair and stubble across his handsome face, he also wore a brown jacket over his yellow shirt. His Gundam was a customised suit, created from the remains of the Wing Gundam, putting the wings on the right side of the back and adding certain pieces of armour, the Wing Gundam Fenice stood apart from its original counterpart.
Gundam Build Fighters OST-Fellini's graceful assault
"Ricardo Fellini, Voce di battaglia," the Italian stated before diving into his opponents.
He fired his beam rifle, hitting the wing of the dragon suit, the Gafran. The Fenice then drew its beam rapier and stabbed the Gafran in the chest. Ricardo waved his hair back before pulling his rapier out of the Gafran. The Dorado then ignited both its hand mounted beam sabres and flew at the Fenice. Ricardo thrust his rapier forward, stabbing the Dorado's leg joints before impaling the head. He deactivated his rapier and looked to the Guaiz and Marasai.
"Il tuo turno, I'd like my last battle as a freelance agent to be a challenge," Fellini smirked.
Both pilots growled before igniting their sabres and flying at the Fenice. Fellini traded his rapier for his beam sabre and slashed both suits in half.
"Eccelente," he cheered, clicking his fingers in triumph.
End OST
The Fenice turned and began heading back towards the colony.
"Mr Fellini, we've had some new arrivals," a member of his support team said.
"Really? Who are they?"
"One is the son of Mukured Madorna, the famous mechanics, I'm not sure about the other two but their leader is definitely a Gundam pilot," the man explained.
"What makes you say that?" Fellini asked.
"His defensive personality, most Gundam pilots either have defensive, peace loving, or just plain whiney personalities!"
"True that, should be fun then, I can't wait to see what happens to the Build colony with him around," Fellini grinned before flying into the hanger.
Unknown to the occupants of the Build Colony, the four mercenaries had not been working alone. Further away from the colony was a battleship, a stealth battleship. On the bridge of the ship stood a man wearing a black coat with a pair of sunglasses over his eyes. A gold dragon shape was on the back of his coat and his sunglasses had red markings on them. The bridge crew all wore Uragiri uniforms and armour.
"The Vagan suits have done their job, we'll wait and see how Flit Asano responds," he told his crewmembers. "If everything goes according to plan, Sensou will be kicked off of the colony because of Asano's foolish search for vengeance, if not then we'll simply hit the colony full force and destroy it before Sensou can create its army," the man said.
He smiled, thinking about the machine his mechanics were building in the hanger. The Purpose and Age would find more than a worthy opponent in the Genbosu Ryofu Tallgeese.
Next Chapter 13: Gunpla battle
Omake 4
Biggs: Hello readers, today's chapter came out a little short, so I've been added on for the entertainment value and for more Gundam facts. This time we explore the relationship of the Iori family and their guest.
Rinko: Oh Reiji is practically part of the family now, I mean he doesn't have anywhere else to go.
Reiji: I actually prefer Sei's house to the palace.
Sei: Yeah, Reiji is apparently a prince.
Reiji: I am…
Sei: Sure Reiji, anyway I met Reiji on the streets, he took food from one of the market booths.
Reiji: They shouldn't have left it out like that; I mean it didn't have a price on it or anything.
Sei: I got Reiji out of the situation so he said that whenever I was in trouble he would come and help.
Reiji: I don't go back on my word; Sei introduced me to Gunpla battle.
Biggs: Just to clarify Gunpla battle is a simulated version of a mobile suit battle, using Plavsky particles to animate models.
Sei: I've created both the Build Strike and the Build Gundam Mk-2.
Biggs: The Build Strike is based on Kira's Strike Gundam but has significantly altered specs and shoulder armour. It is equipped with two beam sabres and a Vulcan gun and when equipped with the build booster, becoming the Build Strike Full package it has significantly better speed than the Aile and a pair of beam cannons.
Sei: I also have several friends around the Build colony with their own Gunpla, which are going to be made into real machines for when they join Sensou.
Biggs: First we have Britain born Julian MacKenzie and his F91 Gundam Imagine. Built as a repainted model of Seabook Arno's F91 Gundam the Imagine has the same armaments and the same venting system as the F91, enabling the suit to leave afterimages of itself when it is venting out heat.
Sei: Mao Yasaka has built the Gundam X Maoh, and another friend of mine Nils Nielsen has built the Sengoku Astray.
Biggs: Both very different machines, the Gundam X Maoh is a custom variant of the Gundam X, armed with a significantly more powerful hyper satellite cannon and a panel system that mimics the light of the moon, allowing Mao to use his satellite cannon without the microwave system. Nils's Sengoku Astray utilises both his martial arts skills and superior intelligence. Armed with similar swords to the Astray red frame, the Sengoku Astray's only energy based attack is its particle based Fa Jin, a technique that directs particles into an opponents limbs to disable them.
Gekido: Wait a minute…Fa Jin is a Chinese technique, why name your Gundam Sengoku and use Chinese techniques.
Reiji: Actually I kind of wonder that myself
Hope everyone enjoyed the chapter, it may have been short but the chapters this arc will be a little on the short side. Points to anyone who can read the Italian Fellini was spouting, don't worry readers I wont constantly use Italian with him.
Next time Gekido by chance becomes acquainted with the Iori family whilst searching for a mechanic to enhance the Purpose's internal armour. Meanwhile the servant of the Uragiri organisation begins joining with the Flana institute and sending out sleeper agents.
