The Dark hero Izuku.
Chapter 2
Dark Beginning.-
Hello Avarice here, with another chapter of The Dark Hero. This chapter will finish up the entrance exam arc. Just so no one is confused, this is a heroic Izuku fic about how he will try to become a hero while using the most evil devil fruit. The yami yami no mi is a logia type devil fruit which allows the user to create and manipulate darkness which acts like a black hole in the one piece world controlling gravity and absorbs everything inside it. Izuku won't inherit one for all and instead will be learning Haki however he won't learn observation haki for a while probably closer to the ( Forest training camp arc ) if not the ( Shie Hassaikai Arc ) for both power consistency and an overall better reading experience. As always I hope you all enjoy reading my fic and remember to stay greedy.
Near the Bridge. -
Izuku can't help wonder If that was reality or all an elaborate hallucination.
"W-well only one way to know for s-sure." He said with a slight tremble hoping Bakugou hadn't broken his mind the same as their friendship. With a moment of hesitation Izuku lifted his hand and concentrated his heart race and pound against his chest.
… Ba-dump … ( ZeHAHAHAHAHA! )
Izuku couldn't believe his eyes as he watched a thick miasma not only radiated from his arm but his entire upper body as his hand had turned into a black substance almost resembling a dark flame. His teeth clenched and his vision blurred, tears welled up before spilling down his cheeks while his knees shook before giving beneath him. As he knelt there on the floor sobbing his only thoughts were of thanks to whatever god, devil, Pirate or whatever he spoke to back there for such a gift.
After a moment of composing himself Izuku got up and began jogging through the tunnel he had decided to hurriedly head home before his mother grew worried, he had to show her his new power and tell her he wouldn't give up on his dream, he'd be a he-
Before Izuku's thoughts could continue his thoughts were interrupted by a strange sound as slime formed before him.
"A v-villain." he stated as the monstrous villain finished forming.
"A medium-sized skinsuit, you'll make a perfect invisibility cloak kid. "stated the villain with an almost sick amount of glee. It lunged at him as he instinctually raised his hands to defend himself before he suddenly felt something almost like a memory.(Dark spiral)
"Dark spiral!" shouted Izuku drawing the villain closer. The moment the villain realized this he began to laugh before Izuku's hand made contact and the villain turned Into a regular man.
"W-what?" Izuku flinched, pulling his hand back like the villain was hot metal allowing the villain to become sludge once again.
"YOU, DAMN KID I"LL KILL YO-" before he could finish the sewer lid flew off revealing all might.
"It's alright now, Have no fear I am here." he said as he dodged an attack from the sludge villain. " Texas smash!" as All Might sent the villain splattering the surrounding tunnel.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!, young man, you were very brave there, keeping a cool head in the face of danger." spoke All Might in his classic heroic voice.
Izuku couldn't believe it. his Idol had not only saved him but complemented his bravery as well, suddenly Izuku felt the same as he did in Avarice Alley when the pirate looking man had first offered him the fruit and remembered his words before he was sent back. THE DREAMS OF MEN WILL NEVER DIE! He had said. Izuku then realized he had to ask, he had to know.
"All might." in spite of his nervousness in front of his hero his voice was unwavered.
All Might, who had dumped out his soda and was carefully scooping the villain inside ,stood and turned to face Izuku with a wide grin.
" What is it, young man?" he asked in a voice like thunder. Causing Izuku's confidence to slightly waver resulting in him hesitating before shouting-
" Can someone, without a quirk, become a hero?" Izuku waited for what seemed like an eternity as all might seem taken aback by his didn't know why he asked, he had a power now so what did it really matter? Maybe It was curiosity or possibly the shock from today's events caused a lapse in memory but when Izuku really thought about It he knew why he had asked. The same reason He had asked the pirate man, He wanted someone to believe in him and who better than the symbol of peace to seek encouragement right?
"Some villains just can't be beaten without powers. So no, I honestly don't think you can be a hero without a quirk." stated All Might after his long pause causing Izuku to be lost in shock, frozen where he stood.
"I'm sorry young man, but the life of a hero is too dangerous for someone without a quirk you could get yourself or others hurt or worse." All Might stated, his reason was straightforward and worded to soften the blow yet All Might's words hit Izuku hard all the same. Izuku stood there in a stupor, here he was standing before his childhood hero And after pouring his heart out to him what did he have to say to him.
"If you wanna help people there are plenty of other ways to do it. You can become a police officer, they don't get the credit because hero's capture most of the villains but It's a fine profession." Izuku wasn't hearing this he couldn't be hearing this could he? Was All Might really telling him-
Izuku's past flashed in his mind the words of his doctor. "I'm afraid there's no hope for him." stated the doctor in a monotone voice. " Sorry kid It's not gonna happen, you should probably give that dream up." The doctor didn't even fain empathy, he said that as if he wasn't crushing a four year old's dream. He sounded bored, thought Izuku while his mother spoke to the doctor. Izuku remembered all the things he was told during his life.
"Your Pathetic."
""Defenseless Izuku."
"Go the fuck away Deku!"
"YOU'D NEVER BE ABLE TO HANG WITH THE BEST OF THE BEST, YOU'D DIE IN THE EXAMS!"
"This school's already really wanna embarrass it more by failing so hard."
"I'm Sorry Izuku, I'm so sorry."
"Pffft, come on, you could at least say something back."
"He finally gets it. He'll never be a hero."
"If you wanna be a hero that badly, there's a quick way to do it. Hope you'll be born with a quirk in your next life and take a swan dive off a roof!"
Izuku stared at All Might, his words brought a new sensation. Unlike his mother's apology which made him feel dejected, or Bakugou who made him feel worthless or even the doctor who's apathetic diagnosis which was only a prelude to his misery, All might's words didn't bring him any new emotions, in fact his words almost seemed to strip him of emotions. Izuku felt hollow, emptied and drained but still rushed to All Might in a frantic motion catching them both off guard as Izuku practically kneeled clutching onto All Might like a lifeline.
Neither notice the sound of a light thud nor the sound of rolling.
As Izuku tries to drag the withered remnants of his confidence to respond. All Might's attention was focused entirely on the young man in front of him empathizing with him but further steeling his resolve, deeming Izuku not ready for the pressures of hero life.
"It's fine to have dreams, just make sure they're obtainable." said All Might, finalizing their exchange, cementing the fact All Might himself didn't believe he could become a hero before leaping away in a single bound. Leaving a shattered Izuku to pick up the pieces.
In that moment as Izuku watched All Might leave, he fell the rest of the way to his knees and he felt something snap in his chest as it went from hollow of all emotion and swelled with pain and anguish, I never learn do I, he thought as he recounted all the times he had heard the same damn thing. Had he not known all along no one believed in him? didn't bakugou and his goons tell him he had no hope. So why, why was this so much more painful than before? Then he realized why. It's because he can't bring himself to cry, this wasn't sorrow anymore it was fury. It was stupid to think anyone would accept his dream and he was furious that he thought All Might would be any different.
"ZeHAHAHAHAHA!" memories rang through his thoughts "It's not easy to surpass a person, you'll find that the higher your goal the more those around will doubt." Again another played through his head " The Dreams of men...WILL NEVER DIEEEE!" this time his words held new meaning.
Izuku suddenly remembered the one person who seemed to even remotely believe in him going as far as to claim he had been chosen, Izuku knew then and there this was the last time anyone would get to him like this from now on he believed in his dream. Izuku hastily stood not even realizing a cloak of darkness had surrounded him until he was walking.
That's right he thought, staring at the darkness coating his arm before morphing it entirely into the shadowy substance. In all the commotion… forgot I have you. As Izuku stared, It was as if the shadows were alive and as they flowed and swayed he remembered the pirate looking man who made this all possible. You believed in me too, right? You gave me hope for the future more than anyone he thought. Out of everyone it was you who taught me how Important I could be. Like a friend... or more like a teacher...Teach he whispered as his heart raced, maybe he was crazy but it almost seemed like his darkness quivered at the mention of his nickname for it.
"Teach it is." spoke Izuku, staring at his hand for any more signs of life or response.
Izuku caught a glimpse of something from the corner of his eye. Taking his eyes off his hand he focused on the object before gasping in shock.
"The sludge villain!" he said as he stared at the plastic bottle left in the road for any passerby to stumble across. What happened how is he -
Izuku stopped his train of thought, getting an idea. Before Izuku could rethink his actions or even think it through to begin with; Izuku reached for the bottle and walked towards the dark tunnel. He didn't know what he would do but he felt he needed privacy. Once inside he practically ripped off the cap before he chucked the bottle deeper inside and waited.
Moments later the sludge began to shift and move before forming and glaring at him
"what happened where am I?" questioned the sludge, seeming both confused and enraged. "Wait, you're that kid with the black whatever quirk from before."
"Dark spiral" Izuku stated Izuku reaching out his hand once again pulling the villain before he could react and again the sludge morphed before Izuku's eyes back into a human form. This time however Izuku swung his leg back as far as it could go and- Wham! He kicked the villain in the balls with all his might causing the villain to fall to his knees in pain all while Izuku continued to grasp his shoulder.
"Guess you're not used to pain, huh?" asked Izuku. "My Guess is that you have a Transformation quirk judging by your eyes and teeth still being solid rather than a wholly liquid body." His face held no emotion as he leveled his face with the man before him.
"People like you are so dependent on your quirks, but now you'll have to fight me without your crutch." Izuku didn't stutter or raise his voice, he kept his tone even and smooth, lacking any malice or sadism. He didn't kick the villain while he was down or force him to get up. Izuku patiently and calmly waited for him to get up on his own while the villain stared up in fear at this small boy who effortlessly brought him to his knees. To the villain Izuku seemed so menacing as a black miasma radiating off of him. Izuku clutched his shoulder lightly yet thanks to his darkness it felt like an unbreakable grip. The villain tried to force himself to move but he was petrified by Izuku.
"All for One?" whispered the villain confusing Izuku and causing his grip to tighten on the man's shoulder.
"I thought you were a legend, just a s-story told to street punks to keep them in line...b-but you're the real deal aren't you, the demon who t-takes quirks." The man stuttered, which didn't go unnoticed by Izuku. Izuku processed the knowledge given to him though was distracted by what the man was implying. This man was asking if he was a villain, the man who had planned to wear him like a coat was stuttering in fear of him. What appalled Izuku the most however was how he couldn't believe this was how he used to act. It was pathetic, he almost understood why Bakugou bullied him if this is how he acted around him...almost he seethed.
"No I'm not this 'All for One' you're thinking of, but that does give me an idea." Suddenly the dark tunnel grew darker as the villain felt a strange and strong pulling sensation all over and around him as if his gravity had changed direction and was being drawn towards the kid in front of him who was now a distorted mass of darkness. There was a tugging sensation in his chest which grew harder and harder until all he could feel was pain.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" came a scream from the tunnel though no one really heard it due to the darkness consuming most of the sound.
After a while in the tunnel Izuku calmly exited the opposite end as Izuku walked. He couldn't believe his idea had worked and he couldn't help himself but to laugh at what had transpired.
"ZeHAHAHAHAHA!" he laughed not noticing the change once so ever as he continued to walk home for the first time in his life feeling a sense of pride and satisfaction. He wasn't a quirkless Deku anymore he was the Dark Hero.
Midoriya Residents. -
Izuku arrived home cleaning out his room of everything All Might related. He immediately began preparations on setting an exact training regiment and location for the U.A entrance exam. It was only after hours of continuous research that he found a routine which focused on building his stamina as well as increasing muscle strength rather than growth. He also studied many underground heroes when he found the one he was looking for.
"EraserHead." he stated as he scrolled through the informative in not limited online records of EraserHead. He was both a successful pro and an accomplished U.A Instructor with a habit of failing and expelling students who didn't meet his standards.
Just as Izuku remembered Eraserheads quirk worked by staring while his quirk erasing technique worked with actual physical contact. Leading Izuku to wander, Could Eraserheads quirk work on a devil fruit?
Months pass and Izuku has quickly adapted his new power, he found he can absorb and eject objects from his darkness later testing it out with massive success, cleaning Dagobah Beach in an hour. Even finding he can adjust the pressure the darkness holds by using it to crush everything from a fridge to a truck into a tiny compact ball.
Izuku also realized he not only felt pain but it was magnified. He learned this thanks to an embarrassing trip to the hospital. He had fallen down some stairs and thought he had broken his arm only to find it wasn't even bruised. This resulted with a frantic Inko as well as an explanation from Izuku, finally revealing his new "Quirk" to his mother who nearly flooded the house with her tears of joy.
"MY BABY, YOU HAVE A QUIRK!" she cried, prompting Izuku to comfort his overjoyed mother. He explained he had acquired it months ago, leaving out his encounter with All Might for now.
"I can create a darkness field around me which can absorb objects and crush them and eject them with ease. I can also do this." Izuku reached out and yelled "DARK SPIRAL!" drawing Inko towards him causing the older woman to squeak in surprise as she found her arm grasped by her son in an almost Intimidating fashion. But her surprise doubled when Izuku requested she use her quirk. Confused but curious, Inko obliged and attempted to pick up a nearby mug only to find no matter how hard she focused the mug wouldn't budge.
"ZeHAHAHAHAHA." laughed Izuku softly as Inko stared. If he had seemed Intimidating before his changed laugh and this knew Quirk made him seem to domineer over the poor woman, the fact Izuku was taller than her only made this feeling worse as her anxiety grew and she found herself trembling just a bit. Until that is when her eyes met Izuku's and she saw her little boy again so small, so soft hearted, she quickly gained her composure and asked hesitantly if he had any more to share about his power?
"W-well about that." Izuku stuttered out. Months ago Inko would have considered this to be normal but recently Izuku had stopped stuttering, as well as that he had sold all his All Might merchandise and began training for the hero course.
"I can steal quirks but only under certain conditions." stated Izuku not looking His mother in the eyes. He hadn't felt shame in his choice until he saw how his mother seemed to cower from him especially after dark spiral. How would she react to this?
Inko looked at him with both confusion and dread before asking in a voice barely more than a whisper. " H-how do you know you can steal quirks?" The look in her eye said it all.
Izuku stretched out his hand and used his new transformation quirk to turn his forearm into sludge and extend to grab the nearby mug from earlier and hand it over to his mother. As she both gawked and trembled at his arm which seemed to be a dark dirty green.
"W-who's q-quirk is that? H-how did you s-steal it?" Izuku never felt worse than now, his mother looked like she would have a heart attack and It was all his fault. Izuku told her everything, his walk from school, the encounter with the sludge villain and even the All Might's discussion.
Inko listened and nodded along, allowing her son to fully explain himself. Izuku no longer seemed so massive nor imposing as his features dulled and he told her about his rematch with the sludge villain.
Izuku felt his mother's disappointment when he had started, by the time he finished his mother seemed to have made a recovery and began to berate him. though she didn't raise her voice her intentions were clear as she explained how this looked.
"Izuku, understand you weren't at fault for being attacked but continuing the fight and then stealing their quirk… that's not something a hero should do. Her eyes burned with both the concern and fierceness only a mother could have. This made Izuku wither further
"Did you K-kill the villain?" Izuku was taken aback and paled at the mere notion. Izuku quickly amended her confusion and explained the process.
"First I need complete darkness, the tunnel or even just a thick black sheet would have worked. Next I -" The further Izuku explained Inko nodded, finding some comfort that Izuku hadn't actually harmed the villain but was still wary."
" Izuku." Inko interrupted, Inko watched as her son fidgeted and squirmed under her gaze, his face had shame written on it thus alleviating more of Inko's worries and pushed her to believe her son had just made a rash choice. A choice brought on by emotions rather than by rational thought.
"I'm glad your quirk manifested and I'm glad It's one you can use to achieve your dream." she spoke, electing a small nod from her son. " I won't ask you to never use your power...Like that." she said referring to stealing quirks, she knew it was a useful ability and might even save his life or the lives of others, some people just weren't meant to have power especially not quirks...but she had to be sure that it wasn't for him to decide, that he never take advantage of his power like the villains on the news.
"Promise me, from now on you'll only take someone's quirk only in an absolute emergency… a-and never for selfish or cruel reasons." Inko said, shivering with emotion.
" I promise mom… I won't do it again, not unless there is no other option. I also promise to use this stolen quirk for good." Izuku said, glancing at his sludge arm before it transformed back to normal.
Izuku looked downcast but hadn't shed a tear, another change Inko had noted and now she knew why. He had already been through hell. Having everyone, even her, give up on him then Gaining a quirk right when he was attacked, having his Idol quashing his dreams further and now faced with an issue of morality for a decision made in the heat of the moment when he felt he needed to prove himself. Truly she had failed him but now she needed to step up and be there, she needed to believe in her son and hopefully guide him through whatever he's going through.
After a few weeks of short awkward interactions between the two lead to more conversations before Izuku and Inko could finally adjust to the new facts of life.
Inko kept a close eye on her son, watching him train, making sure to encourage him, letting him know that she supported him. Inko wanted him to know he had nothing to prove. Izuku trained like normal with the exception of setting up breaks in between to better bond with his mother, not counting when she watched him practice at Dagobah Beach. Overall Izuku felt just that little bit better, as if a piece had clicked into place leaving him feeling more fulfilled than he had in his whole life.
Dagobah Beach ( Feb 26 5:59am )
Izuku sat on the beach watching the sunrise, breathing in the salty ocean air as the waves lapped lazily at his toes. Izuku felt at peace as he allowed his shadows to flow from his body like a gentle smoke. He and his mother had resolved the issues concerning his "Quirk" and what kind of hero he would be. He never wanted to feel the way he did when His mother had looked at him, trembling and afraid it made Izuku feel like a villain which led to many sleepless nights not to mention the nightmares.
His power only seemed to grow stronger as a voice or rather memories seemed to flash in his mind revealing new techniques and skills he had yet to use. Izuku closed his eyes as he remembered the sound of Teach's voice which at times felt more like a dream. He had trained his second quirk as well with minimal progress due to the fact he felt immense guilt while using it, especially when his mother would arrive to watch over his training.
It was obvious to Izuku she was trying to closely monitor him but to be honest he didn't care, his mother was worried, invested, interested in him and his dream again. Izuku would be more than happy to have his mother hover around him than go back to how things were before. Negative attention was still attention after all and it proved to Izuku she still loved and valued him enough to care about where he was, what he was training, and even joining the exercise to further comfort and observe him.
Izuku's eyes slowly opened as his watch went off with a chirp, alerting him that it was now six o'clock and he had to get ready for the U.A entrance exam. Izuku laughed softly to himself as he slowly stood and readied himself for the big day.
"Izuku It's time to go." called His mother, grabbing Izuku's attention. Izuku remembered his mother had offered to drive him to U.A for the Exam. Standing to his feet Izuku slowly walked towards his mother, smiling softly as his darkness faded. His mother had gradually grown accustomed to his darkness.
"Okay mom, I'll be there in a second. He said taking a seat on the steps while slipping on his shoes his mother stared as he finished tying the laces and gave the a test tap against the cement.
Izuku enjoyed spending time with his mother, she had asked how his training was going sparking a comfortable conversation between them before Izuku reached his destination.
"U.A High." He breathed as Inko stared nervously at him. Izuku felt his mother's eyes burn the side of his head, out of the corner of his eye he could see her sweat and tremble slightly.
"I love you mom, Don't worry I've got this." Stated Izuku, seeming to brim with confidence. Inko's eyes met her sounds and she could see how serious he was. She had no doubt he would pass. Inko left after that, giving Izuku one last hug before walking back home. Once she was both out of sight and earshot Izuku began to panic and break into a frantic tremble, he was only acting to help ease his mother's worries. In truth he was terrified and had yet to even step through the gateway.
Izuku then decided nothing could be done about it. He was already here so he might as well go. Izuku began to walk, marveling at the sheer weight and prestige U.A seemed to emit.
"GET OUT OF MY WAY!" Izuku reflexively dodged, pivoting on his heel allowing him to face the aggressor. Izuku was face to face with Bakugou. Izuku's fists clenched as he glared at bakugou. Over the past months since the sludge villain incident, Izuku and Bakugou's interactions became far more hostile with Izuku being just as antagonistic. Once or twice this led to a fight where Izuku would test his reaction speed and timing.
Izuku had become so good it became second nature and before long bakugou and his goons couldn't touch him...mostly. Izuku winced at the burns he received after Bakugou used an explosion to change his direction and blow Izuku across the school courtyard. It took Izuku everything he had to just to stand after that, it hurt for a week.
"You gonna try and set me on fire again Bakugou?" Izuku taunted in mock bravery as he stared down his would-be attacker. Izuku knew full well U.A prohibited fighting and had no problem expelling students, even based on the whims of their he'll attack me and get booted from the exam before he even takes it.
"Zehahahaha!" laughed Izuku both from the humor that situation brought him and to coax Bakugou further into his… sorta trap.
Unfortunately Bakugou seemed to be smarter than Izuku had credited him because Bakugou simply gave him a sneer before walking past him and into U.A high.
"Well that's disappointing." Izuku sighed, I had wanted to test out one of my new techniques. "Perhaps next time I guess?" he said as he began walking again.
This is a new beginning, my journey as a hero starts now.
Izuku stood in front of the Battle Center gate, examining the other applicants while he waited. He has seen some interesting quirks, one guy has multiple arms with webbing between them, another had striped hair like a horn, even a kid with a lens on his waist then there is the girl from earlier, Uraraka. Earlier while Izuku was heading to the Orientation, Izuku had tripped nearly falling while walking carelessly and was saved by the charming brunette. They conversed, talking about how nervous they were before exchanging names and heading inside. Izuku had a strange feeling after that, maybe It was because he had never talked to a girl before or possibly because someone other than his mother had given him pleasant conversation. Izuku started towards her but was stopped by a firm hand grasping his shoulder.
"She looks like she's trying to focus. Are you really gonna distract her and ruin her chances to succeed?" Izuku turned to see a tall boy with Dark blue hair and stern eyes behind square rimmed glasses.
Izuku recognized him from orientation as well, he had interrupted the pro hero president mic to ask about the trial. He also annoyed Izuku after calling him out in front of everyone for exchanging jabs with Bakugou and being both distracting and disruptive to those around, especially since he had been far more disruptive than both him and Bakugou combined.
"Well what about you?" Izuku asked with a sardonic smile glaring, slightly locking his eyes with the taller teen.
" ...Pardon?" asked the blue haired boy, confusion bleeding through his stern expression. Izuku spoke with a laugh as if he had remembered a funny joke.
"Zehahaha, well what if I wasn't going to talk to her? Perhaps I was just walking closer to the gate to better prepare. I may have been thinking up a strategy and honing my focus, only to have it broken by needless conversation. As an aspiring hero you shouldn't jump to conclusions, Moreover your brash action could cause trouble and get you or someone else hurt...or Worse. Izuku emphasized that last point and watched the nuisances features slightly softened with regret for a brief instance before hardening again with a mix of anger and resolve.
" I see, apologize. I misread the situation and performed the very wrong I had hoped to quell." He bowed before excusing himself, walking stiff and mechanically. Izuku chuckled at his victory before making his way to the front.
Moments later the gates opened and he bolted. Izuku had trained his body and even without his darkness or sludge easily smashed his way through the robots, he kept struggling not to use his sludge quirk but still managed to gain forty-eight points before he heard a voice.
"There are no countdowns in real battles, get moving." He then saw a stampede of applicants and after earning fifteen more points he began hearing them call out their scores. Twenty-eight, forty-five and thirty-two, cried his fellow participants. As he casually smashed a three pointer's head in.
"Guess I should get serious." spoke Izuku with a wicked smirk.
The UA staff watched over the candidates progress, keeping an eye out for particular talents eyeing Izuku only until they found an interesting quirk.
"There are some impressive applicants this year." The teachers were impressed by some of the candidates. While most of the teachers we enthralled by flashy quirks
Two were watching an applicant for different reasons.
"Do you notice it?" questioned Aizawa not really asking, while he watched Izuku Midoriya. All might nodded as he watched silently as Izuku smashed a two pointer bringing his total to fifty-six.
He had noticed the moment Midoriya began the exam, the quirkles boy was a monster but it was obvious the boy's holding back. Like he's fighting his muscle memory causing his movements to be slightly jerky and mildly sloppy.
"He's holding back." spoke All Might tilting his head to Aizawa keeping his gaze on Midoriya remembering might feel guilt rise in his chest as he watched the young man fight and remembered his words, the longer the boy fought the more impressed All might become. That's when he noticed it.
Over time young Midoriya's movements became smoother and his strikes more precise like pieces in a puzzle. That's when Aizawa and All might realize there were tiny movements when Izuku would extend his palm inches in front of the target and it would suddenly close the gap, that's when Izuku struck, knocking its head off and earning a combined total of seventy-three points. It was so quick and well executed that to the average eye it wouldn't have been noticeable.
Slowly other hero's began to notice Izuku, commenting on his technique and his score. But none seemed to notice what Aizawa and All might did...none except-
"Curious." Spoke principle Nezu as he cheerfully gazed at the monitor.
"At first glance the young man seems to have a strength quirk but I noticed, he seems to be pulling his targets closer." The teachers and staff gawked in confusion as they stared at the boy tearing his way to eighty-sixth points. Some noticed it quicker than others.
"You two noticed it right." Said Nezu gleaming without turning his head towards Aizawa or All wasn't a question, they thought and the affirmed Nezu's suspension.
"He's hiding his quirk, at the very least he's keeping his hand close to his chest." spoke Aizawa glancing at All Might. The symbol of peace was still gazing at the screen.
Young man, why would you ask such a question. All Might remembered when young Midorya had asked if he could become a hero, he had made himself seem quirkless but why?
All Might's mind continued to buzz with thoughts and questions as he watched, not noticing Principle Nezu talking until the button was pressed and the zero pointer was released.
Battle Center.-
Izuku had felt like he was finally getting into the groove as he smashed three more robots bringing his total from ninety-two to a clean one hundred.
"Zehahahaha that was fun and with one hundred points I've more than proven my point." Izuku's thoughts turned bitter and he felt himself shaking at the memories.
"I'd die in the exam huh, I can't be a hero without a quirk ZeHAHAHAHAHA!" Izuku began to laugh but stopped as the ground began to tremble.
Suddenly a massive test robot erupted from the ground it towered over the applicants and was bigger than the buildings.
Izuku stared at the Zero pointer thinking to himself, so that's why I should run. Izuku turned to make good on that suggestion but suddenly heard a cry for help. Izuku found the source to be Uraraka who was pinned under rubble and couldn't escape. Izuku watched the Zero pointer looming closer as no one stopped to help. Izuku had only one thought in his mind.
...SHIT!
Izuku dashed forward before he could finish his thoughts; he was already creating an orb of darkness in his hand and charged full speed. Even as the zero pointer drew closer to Uraraka Izuku knew he couldn't just run away.
Uraraka turned to see him, her eyes widened as he made a mad dash towards her. Uraraka's mind raced as she saw him. His eyes had a strange gleam to them.
"DARK END!" He shouted before tossing it to the side. The orb landed a few meters away and created a small crater as it sucked the rubble into its epicenter. Izuku dashed quickly, grabbing Uraraka midair before diving into the gravitational pull. Izuku disabled dark end and allowed the momentum to carry them. Izuku turned just in time for his back to collide full force against the ground. Rubble littered the ground and even the smallest chunks dug painfully into his back, though Izuku was growing used to his heightened sense of pain the force alone had knocked the wind from him.
Izuku slid across the street and the added pain caused him to tighten his grip on Uraraka. He stopped sliding when he smashed head first through a nearby building, Izuku felt every pebble pressed painfully into his flesh from the wall breaking under the force. Especially sharp pieces dragged painfully across his skin. Instinctively he tucked Uraraka's head under one of his arms protecting her face and head from debris keeping the other wrapped around her waist.
Uraraka felt his blood drip onto her cheek. She was in a daze but was snapped back to reality when he started to shift, she felt His arms as they unwrapped and he began to stand.
Izuku's body was cut, battered and sore leaving him barely on his feet. Thin trails of blood seeped down his arms, legs and forehead leaving him blind in one eye. Izuku's head was swimming and he felt his left knee buckle under his own weight sending white searing pain shooting through his leg. He knew they were merely flesh wounds but his damn if teach didn't make it feel fatal.
"You're hurt." came a voice, Izuku turned his head slowly, keeping movement to a minimum. He stared at Uraraka, glancing over her for any wounds. Izuku heard the zero pointer getting closer and began to walk outside before she stopped him.
"I-it's n-not over… t-the big guy's s-still out there." Izuku felt his head become clearer as adrenalin flooded his body. Further cementing that he wasn't nearly as injured as he felt, and though the pain didn't subside he won't let that wouldn't stop him, The Test Examiners, All might, his mother, even Bakugou will see he's worthy of being a hero.
"NO! You're injured, you can barely stand, the test will be over soon. Uraraka's eyes stung. "Please just sit down and rest until-." Uraraka was cut off when his arm turned to sludge allowing him to slip free.
Izuku began walking again, his body becoming numb as he walked but Uraraka shouted after him yet again.
"Why, why did you save me?" Uraraka could have floated the rubble off, he knew this first hand, so why? She waited for an answer, and Izuku merely walked away. It wasn't until he was outside that he spoke.
" Zehahaha… honestly, I-I don't know… m-my legs just s-started moving" as he spoke. Izuku's breathing regulated and he began to speak clearer as time went on. Maybe it was the l-look on your face, or maybe the fact you had been left alone… I-I do know one thing." he said, turning his head towards her. " I couldn't just watch you get hurt." he stated before turning back around and walking out leaving the stunned and slightly flushed girl to ponder alone.
Once outside Izuku gave the zero pointer a good once over before smirking.
"Well they've already seen teach, may as well give them a show." Izuku raised his hand showing it off as it turned into darkness.
"BLACK HOLE!" he shouted, plunging his hand down into the concrete.
The examiners watched in awe as Izuku's hand dove into the ground, tuning the area around the zero pointer pitch black. Suddenly the zero pointer began to sink into the newly formed void. The massive machine began to grab onto the building in an attempt to slow its descent, only for the concrete to crumble under the zero pointer's massive weight.
"ZEHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" laughed Izuku as a twister of darkness erupted around him before dissipating, leaving him coated with the black miazma once more.
The staff stared further awestruck as the zero pointer sunk more than half way into the abyss. The darkness itself seemed to flow like a viscous liquid. The head and arms of the zero pointer were the last to go leaving only darkness where it had once been.
All might was racking his brain trying to figure out this boy's game. Why would he make himself seem quirkless only to turn around and show off, and what a show he gave. Between this demonstration of power and its versatility gave limitless potential, All might began to consider him as a potential successor but quickly quashed the idea upon remembering him crying, clutching his pant leg. All Might huffed out a breath, he was a good actor to say the least but not worthy of one for all.
Meanwhile Aizawa was intrigued, the boy earned all of his points with his bare hands using his power as an aid rather than a crutch. From what he could see this boy had a quirk which would easily propel him to the top, with additional training and guidance this boy could rival the big three. Though his thoughts were racing, Aizawa still noticed the reactions All Might gave when the boy first began using his quirk.
Testing area. -
After consuming the massive machine Izuku exerted as much force as he could into crushing the titanic tin can into scrap before promptly launching it back out like a cannonball. Izuku felt his muscles relax… and immediately began to pass out from over exertion.
He did it, now he would get the recognition he deserved. He had hoped to save his quirk for later but here was as good as any for his big debut.
… Eat your...h-heart out...Ba… ( thud ) landed his head as consciousness began to slip.
Uraraka rushed to his side as the darkness receded. All around them, other participants had watched as the zero pointer had been absorbed into a black void and scrapped in a single move.
"Oh my goodness." spoke a elderly woman as she moved towards the boy. " You weren't hurt that badly were you? Must have exhausted himself with all the excitement." stated Recovery Girl as she walked closer to the unconscious boy. "Still, that was one heck of a show," she said as stood over the boy before she puckered her lips… thankfully he passed out before this.
Time skip. -
Izuku had received his letter from UA after his mother burst into the room crying. Self-scoring Izuku knew he made it by a hair's edge on the written exam but by his count he scored a record one hundred points on the practical exam. Izuku gripped the envelope noticing the slight quiver of his hands, shaking it off he ripped it open in a fluid motion sending a tiny metal disc clattering on his desk.
"I AM HERE, as a projection." Izuku flinched at the man's shouting. Where he would have once worshiped All Might's every word, Izuku now only felt annoyance and disdain.
As expected Izuku had passed the written exam by the skin of his teeth but what had Izuku most interested was the look on All Might's face. Izuku could tell he remembered him and that he remembered his answer. Izuku had proved himself and All Might had to eat his words. He had gotten every single point using his bare hands.
"Your score was One-hundred villain points, giving you the top score. Izuku Midorya… you've passed." All might was struggling, Izuku revealed in his suffering watching the number one hero have to congratulate him brought a satisfied smirk to his face. Izuku ended up laughing at all Might's subtle twitch and tensed facial features. If Izuku hadn't wasted years studying All Might Izuku would never have been able to tell which made it all the sweeter.
"ZEHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Izuku laughed lavishing in his victory over those who had looked down on him. Izuku will surpass All Might and prove that Bakugou was wrong about him. He'll prove HE"S. NOT. A. DEKU!
As his laughing grew louder and more manic, Izuku didn't notice the look on All Might's face as he spoke again.
"That's not all, '' a video played showing Uraraka. Izuku sat and listened as she asked about his condition and was shocked by the end.
"He saved me even though he didn't have to. I'm not sure if he passed the exam but It's not fair if he gets zero points for saving me. If he needs any, I could share my points with him." Izuku was floored, his face had become incredibly flushed and you could swear a faint glow emitted from his face. The worst part was this feeling in his chest. It was hot and scratchy and made him uncomfortable, by the time he got over it All Might was already half done talking.
" With that Your total score is One-Hundred and sixty." Izuku had tuned out after that even as he told his mother all he could do was replay that clip again. She was willing to share her points even if it meant she would be risking failure.
Izuku clutched his chest as he mulled over this new feeling in his chest. It felt like when teach first appeared but different somehow… Izuku tossed and turned all night as he tried figuring out just what had was left with no clue how to process this new feeling, instead he chose to train especially hard in hopes of burying this new feeling.
First Day. -
Izuku had gotten up bright and early and jogged all the way to school remembering his small victory from before. "I can't believe two students will be heading off to UA, especially you Midoriya, guess I'll believe in miracles. Bakugou had cornered and threatened him after that, accusing him of cheating. Their verbal argument turned physical when Bakugou grabbed his collar. Izuku used teach to stop Bakugou from using his quirk grabbing the arm he was using to pin him. This caused the ash blonde to stare in abject horror before Izuku had moved, grabbing his arm and shoving him against the wall. He had waited for this his entire life and he wouldn't let anything stop him from enjoying this. But his memories were short lived as he arrived at the massive Class 1-A door.
"Take your feet off of that desk now!" spoke a familiar voice
"Hu~h." spoke an even more familiarly irritating voice. Izuku clutched his Backpack straps as he peered into the room. There they were the guy from the exam and Baku-GO fuck himself katsuki. Why did the universe have to be a sadistic prick?
The worst part was when glasses turned his gaze on him and stormed over to talk. If the universe hadn't already ruined his day then it was at this point when it upped its game.
Hey I recognize that messy hair. Black hole guy. Spoke a familiar, peppy voice and with it came that same strange feeling. Izuku was spiraling as she was hyperactively moving her arms, frantically thanking him for having saved her. His face felt like it was on fire and her cheerful reenactment of the rescue wasn't helping him. "Ze HA HA HAAA! She laughed, posing like he had when he launched the zero pointers pieces. Everyone began to stare at them and the strange display," Not that he had noticed as all Izuku could focus on was how much he liked when she copied his laugh.
Even after that Uraraka continued to talk with him, seeming to grow more excited by the second. She was a brown haired ball of sunshine and energy and. "I wonder what are teacher is like. I can't wait to meet everybody." spoke the cheery brunette. As her eyes sparkled and she was practically radiating by this point.
"If you're just here to make friends then pack up your stuff now." spoke a voice causing Izuku to gaze down in its direction.
Amazing. Just poof, a hobo just began existing in front of him. No rhyme or reason just here's your complimentary bum with emotional scarring to boot. It was then that the man revealed himself to actually be their teacher and the very hero he had researched a while back. EraserHead. Who was apparently in a very bad mood.
And that's how he ended up outside… Sadistic fucking universe.
Ok not my "TheMrGreed" or "Avarice" persona, This is a message from ME the author. Sorry that this isn't a new chapter but I knew if I was ever going to return to this fic or to writing seriously ever again, I would have to fix my mistakes here. I do apologize for being absent for so long. I had spent the past few years attempting to break into the writing industry and have been rejected at every turn. When my friend and beta reader was injured during a stupid dare I used that as a way to gracefully leave the writing scene and try a new path. Now I am in a much better place and back to writing for fun rather than as a career. Though I haven't posted any of them I still find comfort and enjoyment from typing away and creating stories. I prefer writing long fics and releasing them on a consistent schedule but found that I became burnt out when I felt I needed to produce results or post every month on the dot. This wasn't a problem with you guys but the expectations I placed upon myself. This isn't a triumphant return or a guarantee of more content. But I plan on revisiting my old works, starting with this one, with my friends and going from there. If this is the last time we speak, I would like to thank you all for your support and for reading my fics. Writing this story was one of my best memories, and while I stumbled and fell somewhere along the way; I wouldn't never have made it half as far without your love and support. You readers are and always have been the reason I write. And If we do meet again and I feel the spark after revising and updating my works then I hope for your continued support. Thank you for everything and I do mean everything, for supporting me which supported and carried me and even the criticism. which helped me grow. Till we meet again I hope you enjoyed the ride.
Have a fantastic day and remember to STAY GREEDY! : )
