Dark Desires Ch. 2

Whistler could hear the garage door opening, looking at the clock, only 12:30am, that was way too early for him to be back from his hunt. Carefully getting up, he made his way to where he kept his vehicles. "What brings you back so early?" a little worried that he may have gotten hurt.

Blade could hear the concern in his voice, "Relax old man," walking around to the truck, popping the hood and reaching in, "Seems like she's Frost's plaything." He said, holding the unconscious woman.

Shaking his head, "So, you're kidnapping familiars now? Why don't you just kill the girl and be done with it." Lighting a cig as he followed Blade into the makeshift holding cellprison.

Not so gently dropping her on the cot, he opened the skylight, not sure if she had been bitten in the last 24 hours or not, if she had this was going to be painful for her. Turning her head, he pointed to her bare neck, "Doesn't have his glyph."

That was different, the vampires always brand their familiars. Quickly giving her a look over, not seeing any obvious marks on her body, "You were at his club, right? She could have been there as food." Blowing out some smoke.

Shrugging, "I don't think so, he had one of his LT. protecting her. She's important." Leaning over, he couldn't smell any trace of Frost in her body, perhaps he may have miscalculated, but thinking back to the way Frost looked, he knew that she was something he wanted back, for what he didn't know, so for now he would keep her.

Whistler wasn't going to argue with him, "Fine, but I'll talk to her when she wakes up, you're the person who kidnapped her, she might be less then pleased to see you." Placing his hand on her neck, checking for a pulse, "How much did you give her?"

"The whole shot." Not even bothering to look at him.

"Jesus, she's what, 135, she's going to be out at least until morning." Giving the room a quick once over, there wasn't anything that she could do to escape, "Alright lock her in, I'll deal with her in the morning." He said, making his way out of the room. Smirking when Blade tossed a wool blanket over her.

Locking the door, he turned to his pseudo son, "Do you at least know who she is?"

"No, I didn't see a purse or anything on her." Closing his eyes, trying to remember everything he could about when he zeroed in on her, she had a phone in her hand, but it dropped as the blonde she vamp pulled her towards Frost.

Letting out a frustrated sigh, he turned to his mentor, "I guess you'll have to ask her when she wakes." Too bad, if he could get a little more information about the young woman, perhaps he could lay a trap for Frost and his crew.

Whistler watched as he headed towards his room, knowing that he was going to inject himself with the serum to keep the bloodlust at bay, his eyes fell on the door, hoping who ever that girl was, she knew that she would only survive Blade if she was forthcoming with information. Turning towards his little room, he laid down, letting his body shut down, for at least a few hours.

Deacon was pacing in his loft, the only thing that was keeping him and his minions from hunting her was the sun starting to rise.

Mercury watched as he paced, Raquel tending to her arm. After a good feeding, she'd have her arm back. Placing a light kiss on her lips, she turned her attention back to Deacon. "Who is she to you?" she asked, more curious than anything.

Quinn chuckled, "A piece of grade A ass."

Turning on a dime, Deacon zipped over to him, plunging his hand into his chest, gripping his heart, "Do not speak of things you do not know." Enjoying watching him choke on the blood that was coming out of his mouth.

Only able to nod, Quinn was terrified that Frost was going to kill him. "Please." Was all that he said. Hoping that was enough.

Raquel laughed, "You're such a fucking moron, the girl is his mate." Her eyes finding Mercury looking at her, "What, it's the only explanation for how protective he is over someone he's never met."

Mercury looked up at Deacon, realizing that she was the reason Blade took her. Standing up, she kneeled at his feet, not caring that some of Quinn's blood was getting on her, "Forgive me, I didn't protect her."

His eyes looked at Quinn, "You step out of line again, I will kill you myself." Yanking out his hand. Wiping the blood on Quinn's shirt. Looking down towards the woman on her knees, "Get up." His eyes finding her girlfriend watching them, "Find her."

Walking into his room, he slammed the door, and made a beeline towards his shower. As the hot water washed over his body, he couldn't help but think of everything he's read about vampires, never once was it mentioned that a bitten was able to find a mate, it only spoke of that towards the Purebloods.

If a bitten was able to have a legitimate mate, that meant they were able to have vampire children. Leaning his head against the cold tile, the purebloods would never want that information to get out, that was what they held over the bitten, that they were born a vampire, if the bitten were able to do it, they would essential be the same.

Shutting off the water, he wrapped a towel around his waist, and fell into his bed, his mind racing, he found his one, and the Daywalker had her. Growling, he knew that he wasn't going to kill her outright or he would have at the warehouse, which meant eventually he would set a trap for him, not that he was too worried about it, unlike most bitten, he was bitten by an ancient, close to 3000 years old, which gave him strength and speed unlike the usual vamps that Blade was used to dealing with.

Letting the sleep take over him, his only thought was finding Ruby, and killing anyone or anything that got in his way.

Ruby slowly sat up, gently rubbing her temple, "Ow." She didn't have much to drink, so she shouldn't feel this bad, keeping her eyes closed, she did a mental inventory of her night. Museum, dress shopping, hotel, club, meeting Deacon Frost, and the guy with the sword.

Her eyes popping open with the last thought, he was cutting people's heads off and they turned into ash. As her eyes focused on her surroundings, it became very evident that she wasn't in her hotel room. "Oh God." Panic filled her body, this was not how she wanted to die.

Looking down at her body, grateful that she was at least still in her dress, tossing the blanket off her body, she slowly moved her feet to the floor, very pleased to find that she wasn't tied down to something. Giving her body a cursory check, it seems that nothing was out of place or hurt. The room she was in was dark, except for the skylight that had the sun beaming down on the bed she was just in.

A loud scratching sound brought her attention to the door that was now open, standing in the doorway was an older white guy, his white hair was long and down to his shoulders.

Swallowing hard, she didn't say anything, just watched as he slowly limped his way over to her.

Whistler could see that she was terrified, "I'm Whistler, and you are?" he asked, hoping to get her talking.

Sitting back down on the makeshift cot, Ruby just stared at him, was he really just expecting her to answer? His friend already kidnapped her, she's seen both of their faces, there was no way she was getting out of this alive. Making a decision, if she was going to be brutally murdered, she was going to die as bravely as she could. brave.

Clearing her throat, "None of your business you fucking psycho." Really hoping that her voice didn't sound as terrified as she felt.

Chuckling, "That seems fair." Taking out a cigarette, he lit the thing, "So, here's the deal sweetheart, you tell me everything you know about Deacon Frost, you get to live." Pulling up a chair, he sat down, watching her.

Blinking, that couldn't be all that he wanted to know, "I don't know the man, just met him yesterday before your knife happy friend started killing people."

Whistler watched her, she was either one hell of a liar, or the poor girl was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Standing up, he could hear Blade mulling around, wanting to talk to the girl. "Come in Blade."

Ruby gasped as the man from the club walked back in, standing quickly she moved back a few more feet, "You stay the hell away from me."

Rolling his eyes, "I saved your life. If I didn't get you out of there you were going to be dinner for the vampires." He hissed.

Standing straighter Ruby just stared at him, vampires? "You're insane." Looking around the room, finding a set of pipes leading to a small window, if she could get an opportunity, she'd be able to climb them and make a run for it.

Taking a step towards her, almost laughing as she sttepped back, "Really, then why did they turn to ash when I cut their fucking heads off?" he retorted, his eyes tracking her movements..

Blinking rapidly, her mind raced back, the images of him slicing through people and them burning up in front of her. Covering her mouth, she looked between the men, willing herself not to throw up. It took a few minutes, but eventually she was able to keep her stomach down.

Whistler could see she was completely lost on the subject, giving her a brief synopsis of vampires, familiars, a bit about Blade, and his history, he could tell that she was just barely holding herself together. He felt bad for the girl, butgirl but finding out monsters go bump in the night it did take a moment to wrap your head around.

Carefully moving to sit down, Ruby wrapped her arms around herself, doing everything she could to keep from having a full-blown panic attack. "I need to go now." Her eyes settling on the older guy, hoping that he'd be sympathetic towards her. Ruby just wan Wanteding to be a million miles from this place.

Blade moved quickly and stood in front of her, "No, you're important to Frost, he'll come looking for you."

Ruby was scared, but mostly pissed, "Hypocritical much, you're obviously a vampire of sorts too, how else can you move so fast?" her eyes staring into his dark chocolate ones, "So, as I see it, whatever he or you are, that's not my problem. I want to go home."

Hissing at her, "What you want is irrelevant, so you will stay here, until I figure out how to kill Frost." With that he turned and headed back to his loft.

Her eyes followed him, "Seriously? You say that your defenders of the innocent and all that bull, but you're letting him keep me captive because Deacon Frost was nice to me?" Turning around, she curled back on the bed, knowing that there wasn't any more use to talk, she wasn't getting out of here unless she escaped.

Whistler quietly left the room, she was right, they didn't have any real reason to keep her, but if Frost wanted her, it was probably not for anything good. Heading into the garage, he started prepping the weapons for his hunt tonight, hoping that he could kill Frost soon, because he really didn't want to add imprisonment to his long list of sins.

Ruby watched as the day passed by, the skylight was the only thing that she was able to keep time with. She heard Whistler come in and out throughout the day, offering her food and water. But she refused to touch it, not that she was trying to be a martyr but until it came down to starvation, she wasn't going to let them have any power over her.

However, she did want to pee, and badly, as the stars started to come out and he came in to check on her, she turned to him, "I need to use the rest room."

Nodding, "Follow me, but please don't run, I don't want to shoot you."

Taking off her heels, she followed behind the man, mentally taking inventory of everything she could see, promising that if she got out of this, she was going to leave a very detailed map for Frost, while she wasn't a fan of becoming his lunch, she figured if the two of them were busy fighting each other, she could get the fuck out of here, and never leave her house again.

After using the restroom and washing her hands, Ruby stepped out and found Blade watching her, "What?"

"Why aren't you trying to escape?" Figuring that's what most people would have done by now.

Rolling her eyes, "Because if I tried, you seem like the type of dickhead that would break my legs." Turning away from the man, while she could almost understand his view on vampires, he wasn't exactly proving he was any different by keeping her prisoner. Looking at Whistler, "Take me to my cell Warden."

Chuckling at her, his eyes turned to Blades, "Be safe on your hunt." Giving the girl a light shove, he walked her to her room, "I'm locking you in for the night, do you need anything?"

"Just curious, after his evening out on the town, should I expect a cellmate?" she asked, why she was being such a smartass, she didn't know, but perhaps this was who she was under pressure.

Shaking his head, "No, normally he doesn't bring home strays." Taking a step back, he locked the door, he could see that she was still scared, but it's been almost a full 24 hours and she still hasn't given them her name, nor did he think she would.

Sitting down on the cot, Ruby watched as the stars shone brighter in the sky, looking at the door, she could see that there was no light coming from underneath it. Taking a guess, Blade was still out.

Quietly getting out of the bed, she made her way to the window, using the pipes to climb up. Gently pushing it open, she squirmed her way out, doing everything she could not to make any noise. Using her ankle Keeping her ankle from letting it slam shut, Ruby bend forward shutting it as gently as she could, hissing as the glass cut her arm a bit. Grabbing the hem of her dress, she ripped some of the material to wrap it up, not wanting to leave a trail for him to find.

Looking around, she didn't see anything but an old, abandoned plant, but in the distance was a streetlight and what looked like a convenience store. Not wanting to stick around, she ran as fast and as far as she could, she was going to get back to her hotel if it was the last thing she did, and if she was lucky enough, check out and post up at hotel near the airport until she could get a flight back home.

Deacon looked at Krieger, enjoying seeing the man sweat, "What did you find out?" his voice dripping with venom.

Blinking up at his master, "Her name is Ruby Claire Edwards, she's at the Empire Hotel, I have the staff ready to call me if they spot her. I have her cards flagged so if she uses them, we'll know where she is."

Looking around the room, but mostly focusing on Mercury and Raquel, "Get your humans out looking for here when we can't. I want to turn this city upside to get her." Letting his eyes drift down towards the cop, "You are staying with me." Walking past him, he walked out to the balcony, his scanning the city, hoping by some miracle she was out there.

Hours passed, and nothing, everyone was coming up empty, but it inherently wasn't surprising, for years they have been looking for his base of operations, but the Daywalker was hidden well.

It was near 2 am when Krieger's phone rang. Deacon's eyes never leaving the sweating mans.

"Hello?"

"Your girl is at the checkout counter at the Empire, looks like she's leaving."

"Is she taking a cab?"

"Yeah. Hold on, let me see if I can spot the cab number."

Krieger could see that Deacon was vibrating with anger.

"OK, yeah plate number is 5C21A."

Disconnecting the call, Krieger called the cab company knowing that the manager was a familiar. "Jack, I need the route for cab #5C21A." He could hear typing, "Any day now."

"Give me a second." The voice said. After another moment, "It's heading to JFK."

Disconnecting the call, he looked towards his master, "You want me to get her?"

Shaking his head, "No, I am getting her, you stay here until I get back. Call me if anything changes."

Walking out of his penthouse he had his driver pull up his SUV. Giving him instructions, he sent Mercury a text letting her know to setup his loft for her. Leaning back, his mind wondering why Blade let her go, perhaps this was the trap, but it didn't matter, she was his and he would protect her.

Rubbing his face, it was such a change in his view on humans in a matter of a day. Yesterday they were nothing but walking blood bags, today he'd move heaven and earth to get to his human. Well, that wouldn't last forever, he'd eventually turn her, make her as strong as he was it was the least he could do for his mate.

Taking a second, he pulled out his phone, "Pearl, what do you know about bitten vampire mates?"

"Frost." Surprised by his question, but no matter he loved being useful to him, "From my understandings it's rare, I would need to dig into the archives to find more about it."

Hissing in frustration, "Do it. DO NOT speak to anyone about this, we clear?"

"Yes, of course." Swallowing some spit.

Tossing the phone next to him, he watched as the city passed him by, growing impatient with the world around him, his mind only focusing on getting to his Ruby. Wondering what the Daywalker said to her, if she was going to fear him. Vowing to crush his skull with his bare hands if he ruined his chance with her. No matter how much he was drawn to her, if she rejected him, he couldn't force her to submit to him as his mate, it would only work if she was willing.

Looking up, he could see the line of cabs, not even waiting for the vehicle to come to stop, he jumped out, his eyes searching for her, his Ruby.

Stepping out of her cab, she grabbed her duffle bag, and handed the driver cash, grateful that before she left her hotel she pulled out enough cash to get here, a room, and a ticket home, not wanting to leave a trail for Blade to follow. Perhaps reading all those spy books growing up had its benefits.

Looking around she didn't see anything out of the ordinary, but as she learned in the last 24 hours, the world around her was anything but ordinary. Lifting her bag over her shoulder, Ruby took a few steps towards the entrance of the airport, figuring it would be best to stay in the hotel here for the night hoping that she could hide in the crowd of people.

Moving quickly she was almost to the door when her arm was jerked back, hissing as the cut was squeezed, turning to see if Blade had found her, gasping at the sight of Deacon Frost's ice blue eyes staring down at her. "Please, let me go." Her voice trembling in fear.

Growling, she was terrified, he could smell it pulsing through her veins, "I'm not going to hurt you, but we need to get off the street now." His eyes darting around looking for any sign of him. Taking a deep breath wanting to get her scent in his nose, but instead of her freesia and honey, he smelled her fear and blood. Looking at her wrist he could see it the bandage was seeping blood. "Did he hurt you?" his blood boiling at the thought of her being injured.

Shaking her head, "No, please let me go home, I swear I'll never speak of this to anyone." Her eyes looking around, but as the people mulled around, she realized if she drew any attention to her current situation, she'd be essentially killing them. Hanging her head, "I'll go, just don't hurt anyone."

Grateful that he didn't have to force her, pissed that she was only doing it to protect the others around her, if it took him the rest of his eternity, he was going to kill Blade for turning her against him. Opening the passenger doot one of the other r, "Slide in." Tossing her bags into the back.

Sliding in next to her, his eyes watching her look defeated, "To the loft."

Ruby could feel a tear slide down her face, gently wiping it away, she was so close, but perhaps Whistler was right, there were familiars everywhere, and one of them must have seen her at the hotel, "What happens to me now?" Figuring it's better to get that out of the way.

Gently taking her arm, and undoing her bandage, hissing at the sight of her injury. "You stay with me; I will protect you." Lifting her arm to his lips, naturally curious about what she tasted like. Being mindful of biting her, he wouldn't turn her until she asked.

As his tongue traced the line of blood to the wound, he couldn't help but moan at her flavor, it was like ambrosia, sweet and tangy, if he wasn't as old as he was, he probably would have came in his pants. Hearing her gasp, his eyes found her watching him, fear yes, but also curiosity.

Ruby wasn't sure why she wasn't screaming at him to stop licking her, while she was still terrified, it was almost erotic how he moved his tongue over her wound. Her eyes never leaving his ice blue ones, she could feel her cheeks blush.

Deacon could smell her body change from fear to arousal, at least she was feeling some attraction towards him. It took all his will power to let her arm go, licking his lips as he put it back in her lap, "Fucking delicious." Scooting closer to her, "I will never hurt you." His thumb gently touching her cheek.

Perhaps it was the ridiculousness of the whole situation, or she was just fucking done with being scared, but she couldn't help but snap at him, "Awesome, I look forward to you keeping me as your personal blood donor, sounds fantastic."

Moving his hand quickly around her the back of her neck, his eyes staring into hers, "You're not a fucking blood bank." His nose almost touching hers. "You're mine."

Looking up at him, "What does that even mean?" Feeling his breath fan across her face, worried that he was using some vampire tactic to keep her compliant.

Deacon could almost see her brain trying to work out what was happening, "It means in time you will be my mate, my only." Chuckling at her face, "I'm not going to force you, all I ask is for you to keep an open mind." Hoping that there was a chance.

Her body was tingling where he was touching her, taking a second to absorb the words that left his mouth, "How do I know that you're not using some vampire mind voodoo on me?" While Whistler explained vampires a bit to her, there wasn't more of a conversation about the subject.

Frost snorted, "No vampire voodoo, that's all myth, sweetheart." Unable to resist, he gently placed a small kiss on her lips, enjoying how soft they were.

Frozen, Ruby couldn't help but lean into the kiss, but as she started to respond, her brain realized she was kissing a stranger, pulling back, her eyes finding his staring into hers. "How do I know you're not just saying that?"

Shrugging his shoulders, "I can show you our archives, it explains our histories." Seeing the driver pull into the garage, "We're home."

Shaking her head clear of his scent, she let him lead her to the elevator, her eyes taking in everything. "Do you own the building?"

"Yes. Can't have just anyone moving in." Smirking at her face.

Ruby just nodded, right, of course he was ridiculously wealthy. Looking down she could see that he was holding her hands, "You know I'm not going to run away." At least for now.

Looking down at her, realizing that he didn't even ask about Blade. "Did the Daywalker let you go?" he asked her, it didn't exactly seem like his MO.

Shaking her head, "Um, no. I waited until he was out and crawled through a window," indicating to her arm with the bandage, "how I got the cut."

He couldn't help but feel pride that she was able to get away, but it did put it into perspective that she wasn't going to be obvious about her escape plan, while he could lock her away, that would only push her further away from him. "Give me a month." His eyes locking on hers, "Just one, no trying to escape, just give me a chance to prove to you I'm not lying to you."

Ruby watched him, but she could give him a month, school didn't start again for another 2. Holding out her hand, "One. Only one. No promises."

Taking her hand, "Deal." His eyes turning toward the elevator as it opened, carefully pulling her to his side, Raquel and Mercury he trusted, Quinn, he was a wild card.

Walking in he could see his people standing around, but it was Mercury that moved to kneel in front of her, "I'm sorry I didn't protect you from the daywalker."

Ruby stared at the woman, not knowing what to say to the woman. "Um, it's OK. It was a strange night for me anyway." Clearing her throat, she looked at the others watching her, but her eyes zeroed in on the Jay. Moving away from Deacon, she walked with purpose towards the man, she could feel Deacon following behind her.

Jay smirked at the girl, "Good to see …"

As words left his mouth, Ruby punched him for everything she was worth, "SON of a bitch!" she yelped shaking her hand, "Fuck."

Jay looked up at her, surprised that she hit him.

Looking down at the man on the floor, "You EVER trick another person to going to a club like that, I swear I will shove you off this roof."

Deacon and the other vampires laughed, his girl was feisty, carefully pulling her to his side, "The sun is about to rise, we need to sleep."

Ruby nodded, but her eyes never leaving Jay, hating him for what he did to her, if he would have just left her alone, she would have had a nice time exploring the city, leave and go home, but now she was in this world because of him. As she felt Deacon lead her towards his room, she swore that if she had her way, he'd never become a vampire, she'd make sure of that.
