Dark Desires Ch. 11

Ruby woke with a deep burn in her throat, as she opened her eyes Ruby could see that Deacon was still in a deep sleep, trying to be mindful of not to wake him up Ruby carefully got up and headed towards the bathroom. As she sat on the toilet, she realized that she didn't have this urge to pee. Smacking her face, "Right." Shaking her head as she washed her hands, she looked at her reflection in the mirror almost gasping with how different she looked, but still the same.

Her eyes were still green, but it was like they were almost glowing, leaning forward Ruby lifted her lips watching as her fangs slid into place, stunned by how sharp they looked. Taking her thumb, she gently pushed against them, and almost immediately she could see the blood droplet form on the tip of her thumb. Staring at it, she watched as it plopped into the sink, and soon her finger was healed. "Woah."

Shaking her head, Ruby knew by the stuff she read about vampires that sharp fangs, instant healing on minor cuts, the need to feed a lot was normal for newly transitioned vampire, but reading it, knowing, and now experiencing it was infinitely different. Letting out an unnecessary breath, Ruby started to get ready for her evening.

As she finished up brushing her hair, she carefully put it up in a braided bun, and made her way to the bedroom, snorting as she seen him hug the pillow that she used while sleeping. Moving quickly, she dressed and was out in the living room before she could count to ten. Realizing that her now found speed and strength was going to take some time to get used to.

Opening the fridge, she grabbed two bags, and started the process of warming them up, not wanting to be taken by surprise by another episode of bloodlust, and while she was sure it was going to happen from time to time, she didn't want to be always at the mercy of her bloodlust, she wanted to do what she could to get her cravings under control as quickly and safely as possible.

Hearing the microwave, Ruby grabbed the straw that Mercury gave her the night before and pierced the bag. Not wanting to rush, she took her time and slowly drained her first bag, as she started on her second, Ruby wanted to open the metal doors, but looking at the clock seeing that it was only 7pm, she was sure the sun was still up. Moving towards the emergency exit door, she wanted to see the sunset over the city, knowing that from being out there, as long as she avoided the few rays that were on the balcony, she should be fine.

Opening the door, she moved quickly towards the railing, avoiding the sunrays as they littered the floor. Taking a deep breath, she inhaled deeply, enjoying all the smells that her body was taking in. Closing her eyes, she let the sounds of the city wash over her. While it was a little loud at first, soon she was able to zero in on a conversation directly below her, peering over the edge, she could see the woman talking to her child, unable to keep the smirk off her face as the kid kept bugging his mother for some ice cream.

Letting out a sigh of contentment, Ruby wasn't aware that Alexander was watching her from the doorway, she just stayed there enjoying her now found powers, and doing what she could to hone her skills while she waited for the house to wake.

Alexander stared at the young woman with awe, the look of contentment on her face was enough to bring a smile to his face. He was surprised that she was adjusting so well, when he walked out of his room, he could see that she already fed herself. What was more surprising was how well she fed the night before and obviously now, she didn't rip into the bags as what was expected, she took her time both times.

Leaning against the frame, he watched as she let the city wash over her, however it was obvious that she had no clue that she was standing in the sun or at least her foot was. For a moment he wondered if she knew this, but the more he watched the clearer it became that she wasn't aware, and that her life in the community would now be coveted, vampires from all over the world would come to her, pledge their loyalty to her, she was a Daywalker, like Blade.

Clearing his throat, smirking as she jumped, "Good evening, how was your first night?" He asked her as he made his way out onto the balcony.

Turning towards the council leader, "Good, I fed myself a little bit ago, I'm just trying to accumulate myself to my new body. It's a lot."

Being mindful of the sunray that she was standing in, "I'm sure," leaning against the railings, he couldn't help but wonder about the young woman, "Are you regretting any of this?" he asked, more curious than anything else.

Smiling up at him, Alexander was a beautiful man, but as she was learning it was something that all vampires had in common, her theory was to put their human prey at ease. Giving him a small smile, "No, I just wished it was Deacon that would have been able to start my transition, and I would have had the three days to get use to things that are now rushing into my body." Turning her attention back to the streets, "It's weird, I know I'm on the 89th floor, but it's like I'm down there with them." Indicating to the people mulling about.

Alexander turned his eyes to the people on the streets, "I think this is why so many vampires get drunk with power, we are stronger, faster, and all of our senses are more honed than the humans." Letting out a sigh, "I was born this way close to 4000 years ago, it's all I ever known, but my family taught me the delicate balance between predator and prey, even the animals they don't just kill for fun, it was only for food. I tried to continue that tradition in my own house." His eyes looking down at her foot, still in the sun, smirking at the fact that she was oblivious to it.

Ruby watched him watch her, she could see that something was amusing him, "What?"

Not bothering to say anything, he could see that Deacon was watching them, he just pointed to her foot, "Seems like the Daywalker provided you an extra gift."

Confused at what he was saying Ruby looked down, her eyes going wide, she was standing in the sun, and it wasn't burning her. "No way." Her looking up into his yellow ones, she could see his amusement, "I need to talk to Deacon." Not wanting to keep anything from her love.

Deacon watched in fascination as Alexander pointed out she was standing in the sun, he always knew Ruby was special, so this didn't even surprise him, "It's OK my love, it's rare, but sometimes a sire will pass on some of their traits to their changeling." His eyes watching as the sun finally set behind the horizon, moving towards her, he could see that she was still in shock, but like always she kept her composure. Placing a gentle kiss on her lips, "That's why you can't feel the sun rise, your body doesn't need to hide from it the way the rest of the vampires do."

Leaning into his hand, Ruby went from relaxed to worried, turning her eyes towards Alexander, "How much danger does this put me in?" Figuring that once this information comes out, she was going to be fighting for her life.

Waving his hand, "Don't worry Ruby, if anything you and Deacon are going to be flooded with people trying to align themselves with your house, but it would be wise to start your training, and to see what other attributes the Daywalker left you with." Knowing that if Blade passed on one of his strengths it would be possible that he passed on several others as well.

Deacon pulled her closer, his eyes turning towards Mercury and Raquel, "This doesn't leave our family at all. No one outside the 6 of us will be in the know until she is fully trained." His eyes finding Alexander watching him, "What do we need to do to secure our House?" Figuring that would be the first thing that was needed.

Ruby let Deacon lead her into the house, taking a seat on the couch, she watched as he and Alexander walked into the office, while she wanted to join them, she really wasn't up for all the small details, she had a lot of her own shit to worry about on top of becoming a Lady, in the vampire community. Looking over at Raquel, "Do you know someone that isn't human that can fit me for a dress that would be appropriate for the party I'm sure that they are planning." Pointing towards the office.

Mercury couldn't help but snort, "Yeah, I know someone." Pouring a glass of blood, she handed it to Ruby, "I know you fed yourself, but the first month you'll need about 4 pints a day to stay on top of your cravings."

Gently taking the glass, Ruby nodded, enjoying how the blood soothed her throat, "I want to get in contact with Blade, can one of you ladies make that happen?" she asked them, tossing back the rest of the glass.

Raquel stood quickly and grabbed her cellphone, dialing the number that Whistler gave her when they left the night before. After a couple rings, she could hear the old man's voice. Handing the phone to Ruby, she smiled sitting next to her.

R: I'm sorry I almost bit you yesterday.

Snorting into the phone, Whistler couldn't help but smile, at least she wasn't a blood raging lunatic, "It's alright kid, I should have known better than to be near a newly turned vampire."

Smiling into the phone, "Perhaps, but it still wasn't polite." She could feel the two watching her, smirking at her face, "Anyways, I was wondering if you can relay a message to Blade for me?"

Blowing out some smoke, he knew that Eric was out and about, worried about what has happened to Ruby, "Sure thing kid, what you got?"

Clearing her throat, while she wanted to talk about her newfound gifts, she figured she would discuss it with Deacon before she started talking about it. "Two things, one; I would like to formally invite him to our celebration to our own vampire house, and two; that I owe him my life, and I will do as right by him and you as I can, knowing your stories, I never want to be the monster that you hated for so long." Hoping that for now that would be enough.

Closing his eyes, he could feel a small tear sliding down his face, "You are most welcome Ruby, and thank you. I'll let him know about the invite, and to wait for the day and time. I won't guarantee him showing, but you never know."

Letting out a sigh, "I know. That's all I ask is for you to invite him, I'd invite you as well, but I'm afraid I might not be in control of myself that soon, so perhaps next time." Hoping to lighten the mood.

Chuckling into the phone, "I won't take it personally kid."

Ruby knew that there was so much more to say to the older man, but now was not the time, "I need to start my training, seems as though I'm going to be put through the ringer, I'll contact you again when I know more about the party. Goodbye for now, Whistler."

"Goodbye Ruby. Take care of yourself Kid." Disconnecting the call, he couldn't help but smile, perhaps this is what was needed, someone with a pure heart joining the vampire ranks, reminding them of what they were meant to be and who they once were.

Tossing the phone back to Raquel, Ruby stood up, her eyes locking on Mercury, "Let's go. I want to get into shape as quickly as possible."

Tilting her head back, Mercury couldn't help but laugh, "Let's get you changed and head down to the training room." Looking at her lover, "Please let the men know where we are." With that she took Ruby by the hand and led her to the training floor.

Deacon sat in his chair, Alexander across from him, "So, pretty much at the next full moon, we meet in the council's headquarters, dressed super fancy, say the ancient rites, and drink blood. Bout it?" Doing his best to summarize the evening.

Cracking his neck, "Yeah pretty much it. It will put you on the council, and legitimize your claim to the Houses, and put Ruby under the protection of the council. I know its barbaric but breedible females are protected above anything else."

Rolling his eyes, while she was more important to him than just a breeding partner, he understood, vampire births in the pureblood community were rare, so it made some sense to him, but he would never treat her as a breeding mare. "And marriage, how do I secure her place as my wife?" Knowing that it would be different now that they were a mated pair.

Smiling at him, "You love her?" Not that it was so surprising, Ruby was a one-of-a-kind type of person.

Nodding, "That I do." Not giving a fuck if he thought less of him. What the fuck did he or anyone else know about finding their other half.

Grabbing a glass, he poured himself a little of the scotch that Frost had on his desk, "That's simple, it has to take place after your house is recognized within the council, then I am to bless your union in the great hall, you'll exchange the vows and exchange blood. Binding you together in name and blood." His mind unable to recall in the last century when he preformed the wedding rites.

Deacon couldn't help but smile at the thought. "I guess we have a busy couple of weeks." Realizing that they were in his office for the last couple hours, "I'm sure you need to be heading home."

Standing up, Alexander looked at the man, "That I do. After your house is recognized, I'd like to join you and the Daywalker into cleaning out the trouble spots for the bitten." Extending his hand to the man, "Take care of her, she is special in more than one way."

Giving him a firm grip, "Looking forward to getting your hands dirty, sounds like a good time." Opening the door, and punching the code for the elevator, "And I will, she's the reason for all of this. I will see you in the great hall in 8 days." Knowing that was the next full moon.

Nodding, Alexander watched as the doors shut, closing his eyes, he hoped more than anything that he would eventually find his other half, the look of peace and contentment on Frost's face was enough to make any man jealous.

Turning his attention back to his crew, "Where is Ruby?" he asked, wondering where she wandered off to.

Raquel looked up from her blood, "She's in the training room with Mercury, something about getting her ass in fighting shape quickly." Smirking at his face.

His urge to find her and bring her back to the bedroom was strong, but he knew that her training was important not only for her but for their house. Many of the vampire women in the community refused to learn to truly fight, they thought it was beneath them, but if he was being honest in his opinion that was why the Purebloods were only half as strong as they could be, they refused to treat the women like more than breeding mares.

As much as he wanted to keep her protected and away from any danger, he knew that it was important for her to feel that she was more than just a trophy, and he would never do anything in this long life to make her feel that she wasn't his equal.

His eyes falling on to Raquel, "I need a dress ready for her in a few days. Alexander will be presenting us to the community at the next full moon." Taking a seat, he took the glass of blood that she was holding for him.

Nodding at him, "She thought that's what you were planning, Mercury has her friend coming up tomorrow night to get her measurements for the I'm assuming formal gown?" Getting a little excited at the prospect of being able to dress up.

Snorting it couldn't be helped, of course she took a guess. "Yes. Very. Our house colors will reflect our name. Dark navy blue and black." The thought of bringing their colors, their house, and their mating forward to the community, ready to take their place as leaders of the house. "You know that she needs someone at her side, as is tradition."

Raquel smiled, "That would probably end up being Mercury. I love her, and I can defend her, but if we are being honest, she is far more deadly than most vampires. I however, will always be her friend, the one that will always keep her honest."

Chuckling, "So the hand to the hand?" Knowing that the two women loved each other deeply, and no matter what the other did, one would do what they could to be a part of it.

Finishing up her cup, "That would be correct, and what will make her safe, is that we actually like her, know her, and honestly have the best of intentions for her." Kicking her feet up, "I've been with you since my turn almost 90 years ago, and Mercury has been with you since she was turned almost 130 years ago, you know us, and we have always been loyal."

Leaning forward, "I know that." Rubbing his face, "I've never been one to show my gratitude well, but I've always appreciated your loyalty." Feeling a bit uneasy with the turn of this conversation.

Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, she knew that while because of Ruby he was changing, he was still closed off, and that was OK. "Good to know." Making a move to stand, she moved to grab his now empty glass, lightly touching his shoulder, "You will always have our loyalty." With that Raquel moved towards their room, wanting to relax and set up something nice for Mercury after her training session with Ruby.

Deacon watched as Raquel moved towards her room, leaning back his eyes landed on the elevator, smirking when Quinn walked out, his face a little too excited. "And what has you so happy?" he asked his second.

Flopping down on the couch, "I got a lead on a new home for you. It's about an hour outside the city, keeps us close enough to monitor, but far enough so that when you and Ruby have kids, they can have some space to run around and play." Pulling out the realtor listing, he handed it over to Deacon, hoping that he was pleased with him for looking for their future home.

Surprised, he took the paper, his eyes looking over the house, it was a mansion, obviously but the fact it was on almost 50 acres. Taking in the photos, it was a perfect home for him and Ruby to live. "It's perfect," his eyes looking at Quinn, "Get our lawyer and relator I want this home secured and ready for us to move in by the month."

For some reason this made Quinn feel great, it's been a long time since Deacon actually went with his ideas, "Sure thing boss." Standing up, "You want me to get the crew you used to fortify this place to start on the house once everything is signed?"

Standing, "Yes." Lightly touching his shoulder, "You did good." Making his way down towards the training room, wanting to see how she was doing.

Pulling out his phone, Quinn got the ball rolling, once the lawyer was on the property, he contacted the construction crew, explaining that they are going to be moving to house out on Lloyd Harbor, and that they wanted it fortified enough to withstand a hard assault from the military. As he finished up that call, he moved towards the balcony, taking in the sounds of the city, while he would miss this, he knew that his place would be near Deacon no matter where that would be.

Ruby felt exhausted, for the last 4 hours, Mercury has been pushing hard. Tonight, she was teaching her hand-to-hand techniques, while she wanted to learn about the swords, guns, and other weapons that she's seen them roll out with, Mercury was clear, if you didn't have a firm foundation, then you would be an easy target.

Holding her hand up, "I need to feed." Taking an unnecessary breath.

Nodding, "After you finish this last set." While she knew that as youngling, she would need to feed more often than the rest of them, when she was trained, her teacher always pushed her to the brink before a full bloodlust rampage took over, saying that your enemy will never stop because you need a drink.

Closing her eyes, she could feel her temper started to rise, but as she exhaled, she knew why Mercury was pushing her, if she wanted to be in control of her cravings, she would sometimes have to wait to be fed. Opening her eyes, she nodded, and started her set, moving quickly but efficiently, not wanting to have to start again because she rushed through the process.

Mercury blocked her, but was surprised she was moving fast, but it was calculated. Reaching up to grab her neck, she was pleased to see that not only was Ruby able to block her but counter the move and almost get her pinned.

Running through the sequence another 3 times, only stopping when Ruby was actually able to get her flipped on her ass, holding her down. Smirking up over her twisted shoulder, she could see that Ruby was holding herself back, "OK. It's time to stop Ruby." She could see her eyes glowing; she was on the verge of going apeshit.

Hissing as she let her friend go, she stepped back, "I need blood." Feeling a little desperate.

Moving quickly, Mercury grabbed a couple bags from the fridge she kept for training. Warming them up, she tossed the bags to her friend, smiling as she slowly bit into it, even so young and so hungry, she didn't act like an animal. As she finished the first bag, she could see that Ruby was more relaxed, "How did you like the training?" Curious about what she thought.

Slowly drinking the second, "Good, ready to learn as much as you can teach me." No longer wanting to stand, Ruby sat on the floor with her legs crossed, her eyes looking up at her friend. She enjoyed having the blood slide down her throat. Feeling a bit better and more like herself, she looked up and stared at her friend, "I have something I'd like to ask you."

Taking a seat next to her friend, "Oh, and what exactly would that be?" Leaning back on her elbows.

Feeling a bit nervous, "According to my reading, the lady of the House must have a hand. Someone to accompany her to events, outings, and such. Traditionally it was like a glorified servant, but you wouldn't be that more like a protector, someone to help me learn to navigate the other women in the houses and keep me honest with who I am."

Wrapping her arms around the woman, "I would be honored." Smirking at her face, "I've met some of the women they are airheads, more concerned about their names and appearance then they are about matters of the community."

Before she could respond, Ruby could smell Deacon coming down the elevator, her eyes dilated with the prospect of seeing her mate, "Oh boy."

Snorting at her face, "What?"

Swallowing a bit of spit, "I thought perhaps once we were a fully mated vampire couple that this urge to be with him would settle a bit, but it only intensified." Standing up now, her eyes watching the elevator.

Standing with her, "I've only known one other mated vampire couple, they are purebloods, but they've been together for 1000 years, and they still gravitate towards the other."

As the doors opened, Ruby moved towards Deacon, only feeling a bit bad for walking aways from her friend without saying goodbye. Once she was within touching distance, her eyes took him in, "So turns out, we are always going to want to be near each other." Smiling as he pulled her into his arms.

Hitting the button to go back up to their room, "I guess there are worse things than constantly being hard for my love." Chuckling as he smelled her arousal. As the doors opened, he tossed her over his shoulder, and towards their bed, after he made her cum several times, he would go over the next weeks plans, making sure that she knew what to expect.

Deacon would do anything to make sure that she would prepared not only for her role but given the best chance to live a long and prosperous life together.

Ruby was laying on his chest, her body sore in the most painfully delicious ways, as she closed her eyes, her only thoughts were making a good impression to the council members and the houses, making sure that she lived up to her responsibilities as the Lady of Vangr, and finally being able to head into battle as needed. She would do everything in her power to be more than a piece of furniture in her knew life.

Closing her eyes, her last few thoughts were of her love, grateful that he was supportive of her wanting to learn not only about her duties but also learning about war. It was something that made her love him more, he was always supportive of her, that was something she hasn't really had in her life in a very long time.
