Cassie/Heroes 2
Words of comfort beat against her surface but did not penetrate. The ache within was no stranger to her. Empty, coldness stole inside as it had when she'd been a child.
She stared passed her remaining family to a picture by the window. Sun splashed across it to glow golden on her mother's face. A face she would never again see.
She felt Sam's arms wrap around her but found no solace there. She knew, in time, they would all fall. So, Cassie sat, closing herself off to the comfort, to the pain, and turned to stone.
A/N: So my friend made me write this, she claims that I never finish anything. Just because it took me a year to finish CTF, she starts labeling me a procrastinator. Whatever. So, now this is a series because I'm developing a drabble addiction. (Big grin!) Thanks Tam! Rae
