He awoke as morning light poured in through the bedroom window, bathing him in it.
"Morning? Already?" the blonde youth grumbled as he turned over and put his face into the pillow. Edward turned over and scanned his apartment bedroom for his little brother.
"Al? Al…Where'd he go to now?" Ed got up out of bed as the cover fell to the floor. He walked to the bedroom door, tying back his hair, and reached for the doorknob. Before he could even turn it the door came swing right into him.
"Ugh." Ed grunted as he fell back onto the floor.
"Oh, Edward, I'm sorry. I didn't notice you there." Ed jumped up recognizing the owner of the voice. Mustang grinned at the angry face Edward was making.
"Get that damned smirk of your face!" Ed pointed a accusing finger at him. "And don't you say it! Don't you dare say it you bastard!" Ed screamed on his tiptoes.
"You mean…"that you're so small that I-" Mustang never got to finish as a scream came from the lower level of Edwards apartment.
"Al!" Ed ran downstairs with Mustang following behind him. The sight that hit Ed wasn't really what he had been expecting. Al was with Riza Hawkeye and squealing over a small calico colored cat.
"Aww, it's so cute!" Al chimed. "Look, brother, isn't he the cutest thing you've ever seen?" Al held up the small animal to his brother.
"Mm. Yeah the cutest." Ed mumbled then turned to face Mustang. "So…What brings you to my home at 6 o' clock in the morning? Why do you have to ruin by day at such a time?" Ed growled and glared at Roy. Before Mustang could reply Hawkeye spoke up.
"We're sorry, Edward. We didn't mean to be such a problem this early in the morning but, something came up."
"Another assignment? Don't tell me there are still men coming from Lior and protesting infront of headquarters."
"No, nothing like that. We want to ask you a favor – no, more like Mustang would like to." Hawkeye smiled, gesturing Roy to voice this 'favor'.
Roy clearned his throat. "I need you to watch my niece." Roy averted his gaze to a near by corner as a sly smile graced his lips.
"What! What did you say! What do you think I am? A babysitter!" Ed snarled.
"Well, we'll just leave you here with her." Roy gestured to a small girl on the porch outside and called to her. She entered at his signal and walked up to the enraged Ed.
"Hi, Mister! My name is Celia!" the small girl smiled. At this sight Al melted, accepting the 'favor' for his brother.
"Thanks a lot guys." Roy said as he turned around heading towards the front door before Ed could protest.
"Wait here you, YO---" and the door was slammed in Edwards face.
