This is
actually my first NCIS-fic. Whoa. And this one's dedicated to scap3goat. She woke my muse again!
Thanks to pegasusuroburus,
who has been kind enough to have a quick look at it although it's
in the middle of the night and she's got to get up early tomorrow. And a big thanks to kasuchan as well!
Feedback:
Sure thing. I'd love to hear your opinion!
Summary:
She nods absently and he knows that she's not okay at all.
He finds her sitting on her desk when he comes back from the restrooms. She hasn't been there when he left and he tilts his head in curiosity.
She's staring blankly at the file in her hands and he knows immediately that something's wrong. Her hands are trembling and her eyes shine with unshed tears.
Carefully he approaches her, trying not to disturb her. The office is dark, except for the lights burning on their desks. Everyone else has gone home by now. Gibbs has gone home hours ago. Probie hasn't stayed much longer after the Boss has left.
"You okay, Kate?" he asks quietly.
She nods absently and he knows that she's not okay at all. She doesn't look up at him but he catches the silent tear that is rolling down her cheek.
He grimaces. He knows how she feels. Knows the feeling of killing an innocent man. He wants to comfort her. Wants to tell her that it's getting better with the time. That it doesn't hurt that much anymore when some time has gone by.
Carefully he lays his hand on her shoulder, squeezing it gently. She looks up at him, startled.
He smiles down at her. "If you want to talk about it," he whispers, "you know I'm sitting right there in front of you."
She nods and smiles sadly. When she squeezes his hand on her shoulder with her own, he knows that she's going to be okay. "Thanks Tony," she breathes then.
