Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Thieves' Dance. Enjoy the 1500-word chapter. I don't own RWBY. Monty Oum and Rooster Teeth do.

Mercury was sent crashing into a bookcase, sending books sliding all over the room. Russet swung Phantom around as the twice frail maces swung from their chains.

"Bad move, buddy." Mercury said as Russet hummed and smiled with amusement behind his mask.

"Turkson? Get out of here." Russet said as he clicked a switch, recalling the ball back to the chain. " I won't be long." Russet said as he cocked his head to the side.

The Faunus didn't need to be told twice, only pausing to press a button on the underside of the desk as he raced out the back door.

Mercury flipped to his feet, using the momentum to try and bring his foot down. Russet swept him back with his wing as his ears perked up in interest at what he heard.

It was the sound of metal clanking. Russet blinked as the sound of a gun cock caused him to twist his head to the side.

Mercury frowned, his left boot smoking while the mercenary looked at Russet who's ear twitched. It was turned in the direction of the hole in the wall.

"Leg guns?" Russet asked as he turned back to Mercury, leaning one of the maces upon his shoulder. "That's either the stupidest weapon I've seen… Or the most interesting." Russet said as Emerald sighed.

She turned to see Mercury launch a kick at Russet who twisted to the side, wrapping Phantom's left mace around his leg. He turned, the other mace spinning to deflect a quadruple round of bullets.

Mercury went to swing around only for Russet to twist the mace's grip. Mercury slammed into the ground as Russet recalled the weapon to his left hand. He twirled the other mace in his right hand.

"So, I'm going to guess your plan…" Russet said as Mercury rubbed at his chin. "Your plan was walk in here, hyping yourself up as the biggest badasses ever. You wanted Tukson to know 'OH, DAMN! I SCREWED UP!' Then mister piston punter here would murder him… That close?" Russet asked as he turned to leave.

Mercury frowned in annoyance. Who the hell was this guy? Cinder hadn't mentioned someone having kept tabs on Tukson. He wasn't even taking this fight seriously. Yet the stance he took was one of someone questioning every move his enemies would make against him.

Mercury turned to Emerald who fired twice only for Russet to deflect the shots into the wall.

"You know, feel free to help at any time, Em." Mercury said while Russet swung one of the maces at Emerald.

She spun around it as the mace demolished the bookstack behind her. Emerald looked at Russet who hummed, his face unreadable from behind his mask.

The metal legged man was clearly the more aggressive one. Russet only heard gunshots to try and take his attention off the offensive fighter.

"By all means, show him how badass you are, Merc." Emerald said and held up Thief's Respite, the barrels smoking on the weapon. "You did want to show her how capable you were

Russet knew this battle was even despite his skills. They not only outnumbered him and one had rapid fire guns… But both were skilled. The only advantage he could claim was how he was keeping them on the defensive… And they didn't know how his senses worked.

Mercury and Emerald were about to engage the huntsmen again when Russet's ears perked up slightly.

A faint screeching sound broke the airwaves, like a buzzing from a Lancer. Russet blinked before he realized that Tukson had hit a silent alarm. He chuckled despite himself.

It took a minute till both Emerald and Mercury heard the sirens as well. Emerald cursed, they couldn't pursue Tukson now. If a single huntsman was onto them? Then there was little doubt more were coming.

The advantage was lost, they had to report to Cinder… Tell her that something had gone array in their plans and backups would have to be created.

Emerald turned and fired several more shots which were deflected as she and Mercury fled out the door. Russet sighed and went after the duo, pushing aside the rubble in the way as he flew through the door.

He blinked and listened. Russet heard sirens, but not the footsteps he thought he'd hear from the duo at the moment. Russet sighed and spread his wings again.

"Damn it, I got cocky…" Russet muttered and placed Phantom on his hip again. "Well, at least they didn't get him…. Who the hell were they?" Russet questioned as he shook his head and then flew up into the air.

He knew for a fact that they worked for Salem, who else would try to blatantly murder Tukson? Russet knew the White Fang had a deal with the Grimm Queen…. However? Considering the White Fang's attack on the freighter in the middle of town? Why wouldn't they want Tukson dead by their own hand?

"Think about that in another place." Russet stated before flying up and into the night.

Emerald watched the bat Faunus as he retreated. He was no amateur, and he had clearly expected the duo to appear. Still? She felt like she had seen someone like him before.

"Your telling her we failed." Mercury said as he crossed his arms. "Why the hell didn't you use your semblance or something? I thought you said it effects hearing and all that." Mercury said to which Emerald rolled her eyes.

"You're the one who said he wouldn't have any security." Emerald said and shook her head. "Cinder told YOU to kill him. Second? I was trying not to shoot your damn head off. You kept attacking him, I'd be killing both of you… Which I almost think I should have at the moment." Emerald said as she deactivated her semblance.

She felt like she knew who the bat Faunus was… However? This was neither the time nor the place to be fathoming that idea. Still? She had to report to Cinder at the moment.

They had failed, now their contact was lost in Vale. She doubted they'd be able to track him down once more… However? There would be time enough to reminisce over their failure soon enough.

Still? Emerald doubted she had seen the last of the Faunus in question. If they had found the duo once? They would find the duo once more.

Emerald could only ponder who had dispatched the Faunus to intercept them. They were good, meaning they had fought for a longer time then she expected.

(With Russet)

Russet landed on a rooftop as he blinked as he hummed and then turned to his scroll as he pulled it from his hip. He could only ponder what was happening.

"Oz?" Russet asked as he pulled back his mask. "You were right, someone wanted Tukson dead. They weren't White Fang, neither of them is a Faunus." Russet reported to which Ozpin took a deep breath.

He heard the man speak up a moment later, his voice somewhere between a whisper and a hum.

"And Tukson?" Ozpin questioned to which Russet could only tap at his jaws.

"He should be in police custody if Glynda got to him in time." Russet reported as he paced back and forth. "They got away; I don't know if they work for her." Russet stated while rubbing at his temples.

"They have to be associated with her, Russet." Ozpin stated while humming to himself as Ozpin nodded. "At any rate? This is a good victory over her… Report back to Beacon, we have work to discuss." Ozpin stated as Russet hummed and nodded.

He looked back at Beacon. There was plenty of work to be done before this was done and over with at the moment. Russet spread his wings and prepared to fly into Vale once more.

"There's far more trouble in Vale then there used to be." Russet muttered to himself as he placed his mask back on. "Glyn still think's I'm a giant wrecking ball aimed at Remnant… Heh, sometimes you need a wrecking ball rather then a knife." Russet said and leapt off the building.

His wings caught the air once more. He flew up and flew off into Vale and towards Beacon. He knew more then anything he'd meet that duo again, they were troublemakers…. They'd pop up on that radar once more.

And Russet couldn't wait to face them once more in combat.
