It had been so long. So long since the day he had left them all forever. So long since that day was imprinted in their hearts forever. So many more had died, so many more lost forever. He had known they would. Of course he had, how could he have not. But he was not prepared to have survived. People called them the lucky ones. But they did not know, they could not know, how difficult it was. How hard it was to wake up each morning, drag himself out of bed, get dressed, and go to work. How difficult it was to watch the happiness on the children's faces as they set about their work, knowing that they were safe, only they knew.

The church was empty. A chair had been saved for each person that should have been there, each person that an invitation was carefully written out for, and then put away in small black box. One for each of their friends that had been killed.

He turned back to face her, his face empty of emotion after scanning the room. A smile was resting on her face, playing happiness through her eyes, and he smiled back, relishing in this rare moment. He barley listened, playing back the events which had led to this moment, faces flashing in his face has he gazed into her happy eyes. First James and Lily. Then Sirius, and Dumbledore. Molly, Arthur, Fred and George, Ginny and Charlie. McGonnagal, Hagrid, and Hermione.

A tap on his shoulder brought him crashing down to reality and the empty church, as his best man leaned forward and handed him a ring. He followed the words the minister said, smiling slightly at the irony of the vows, and slipped the ring on her finger, and then listened as she did the same.

"Do you, Remus Lupin, take this woman to be your lawful wedded wife?"

"I do" He felt her hand tighten around his, squeezing his hand harder as a final image of a face slipped into his mind.

"Do you, Nymphadora Tonks, take this man to be your lawful wedded husband?"

"I do" came the quiet reply.

"Then I pronounce you Husband and wife"
