Volume 4:
Chapter 4: Rebels
Four years later….
Ahsoka was in the ship called Phoenix Home, she was waiting for someone to arrive. As she waited, she heard someone approach.
"Ahsoka?"
Ahsoka turned around and saw both Kanan and Ezra.
Ezra asked, "what are you doing?"
Ahsoka said, "waiting for my family to arrive."
Kanan asked, "family?"
Ahsoka nodded.
Ahsoka then heard the doors open.
She turned and smiled.
"Sam, Hunter", Ahsoka said softly.
Hunter walked out in some newly painted white armor.
And Sam had grown up quite a bit over the last four years.
He had gotten a bit taller and his hair was a bit longer as well.
He was wearing an outfit almost identical to Ahsoka's from when she was on Mandalore.
"Hi Mom", Sam said as he gave Ahsoka a hug.
Ahsoka said, "hi sweety", as she hugged Sam close.
Hunter gave Ahsoka a kiss on the lips and then joined the hug.
Ezra and Kanan smiled at the display.
The three then broke the hug.
"Hello, you must be Kanan and Ezra", Hunter said.
Ezra said, "yep, that's us."
"Mom told us that you two are Jedi", Sam said.
The two nodded.
"She also told us how Kanan defeated the grand Inquisitor", Hunter said.
Kanan nods his head.
"Well, we've come to help…. Cause there will be more Inquisitors coming", Sam said.
Kanan asked, "how do you know?"
Ezra asked, "yeah, how do you know more will be coming?"
Sam said, "because I saw every single one of them together when I was a child."
Kanan asked in shock, "what?"
Ezra asked, "but how?"
'Tell them the truth, you can trust them', Revan said through the force.
Sam took a breath and said, "because my father is Darth Vader…."
Kanan and Ezra said in shock, "what!?"
Sam, Ahsoka and Hunter then gave a long explanation to the two Jedi all about Sam's story, from him leaving home to him being taken in by Ahsoka and Hunter.
Kanan couldn't believe that Darth Vader was actually the former Jedi, Anakin Skywalker.
A Jedi he had met and even idolized at some point.
Sam then explained that his father fell to the darkside, as he wanted to save his mother, Padme Amidala from dying.
Kanan and Ezra were shocked to hear all of that.
Ahsoka was hugging Sam as he had finished telling the story.
She knew how hard telling the story was for him.
"Woah, I'm so sorry", Ezra said, feeling sympathy for Sam.
Sam said, "it's okay."
….
Sometime later….
We see Sam, Ahsoka and Hunter at the control bridge of the ship.
The rebels were waiting for the Ghost crew to return from Lothal.
And they were worried about them.
But in a matter of minutes, the Ghost Crew returned safe and sound.
But then it was cut shortly, as the Phoenix Home was now being attacked!
And Sam felt a familiar presence as it happened!
'It can't be', Sam thought.
Hunter noticed the scared look Sam gave.
Hunter asked, "Sam, what's wrong?"
Sam said, "I sense something…. A presence I've not felt since…."
Ahsoka began to feel this as well!
She knew who it was that was attacking the ship. Even as she wished it wasn't!
"It's Vader", Ahsoka whispered.
Hunter whispered, "oh…. Bantha fodder…."
The ship shook as it was being attacked by Vader's ship.
Jun Sato asked in disbelief, "how can one fighter best our entire squadron?"
"Your pilots are outmatched, Commander", Hera said as she ran to the door.
Kanan asked, "what are you doing?"
"Getting involved", Hera said as she then ran off to the ghost ship.
"Not without me, you're not", Kanan said as he ran after Hera.
"Let's go. Ezra, come on", Sabine said.
Ahsoka asked, "alright if I and my family tag along?"
"The more, the merrier", Ezra said.
And with that, the group set off to try and even the odds!
Some Rebel ships tried to blast Vader's ship, but they were unable to as they were quickly destroyed.
The Ghost then detached itself from the Phoenix Home as it flew off to battle Vader's ship.
Hera was of course behind the wheel.
"Fire", Hera shouted.
The ship quickly followed a volley of blasts at Vader's ship!
Vader's ship dodged every single one of the blasts and then he fired at the Ghost.
The Ghost shook as it was hit.
"I forgot to mention that my father is really skilled at piloting", Sam said.
Hera yelled, "ya don't say!"
Ezra asked, "then how are we supposed to fight him!?"
Sam was about to answer when he felt a shiver…. A brief connection in the force!
'Oh No', Sam thought.
And then he heard it….
"Sam…."
Sam let out a scream of fear as he passed out.
Hunter and Ahsoka yelled, "Sam!"
Ahsoka then felt Vader speak to her.
"Ahsoka…."
Ahsoka let out a shiver.
She felt the dark side oozing from Vader's ship.
….
Speaking of which, we see Vader inside his ship.
The red lenses of his mask glinted as he pursued the enemy!
After all this time…. His son was within his grasp!
"My son", Vader whispered.
He HAD to get him back! He just had to!
Vader tried to speak to his son through the force again…. But he couldn't sense his son's consciousness! He must have passed out!
Vader growled, "what have those rebels done?"
Vader foolishly believed that the rebels had taken his son!
"Lord Vader, we have come to help", Piett said over the comlink.
Two Star Destroyers appeared.
Vader growled under his breath.
"Stop that ship from escaping! My son is on board that ship", Vader said.
Piett said over the comlink, "yessir!"
….
Back on The Ghost….
After making sure all of Phoenix Squadron managed to escape, Zeb asked, "how are we going to lose Vader!?"
Hera said, "hold on, I've got a plan!"
Hunter yelled, "I hope that plan involves us getting the kriff outta here!"
"That's the plan", Hera yelled.
Ahsoka held Sam in her arms.
Ahsoka then heard Vader speak to her again.
"Ahsoka! Sam!"
Ahsoka looked down at Sam.
"Give me my son back!"
Ahsoka tried to ignore the words.
The Ghost was then being pulled in by a tractor beam.
Hunter said, "please tell me this is part of your plan!"
Hera smirked as she nodded her head.
Ahsoka held Sam as she hoped the plan would work.
The Ghost was getting closer to the two Star Destroyers.
The others hoped Hera's plan would work!
Vader steered his ship towards the Ghost.
He whispered, "I have them now!"
"Now", Piett said inside the control bridge.
"Gotcha", Hera said as she smirked.
Hera kicked the game into lightspeed!
The Ghost then took off into Hyperspace.
And Vader was left to get caught in the tractor beam!
"NOOOOOOOO!"
Vader smashed his hands against the dashboard of his TIE fighter's control console!
The rebels had gotten away!
Everyone on the Star Destroyer didn't wanna face Vader as he was this angry.
….
We then see Sam in a room of the Ghost.
Ahsoka was there with him.
She hadn't left his side at all since they escaped.
Sam groaned as he woke up.
He looked to see Ahsoka sitting there as he groaned, "mom?"
"Oh thank the Force, Sam you finally woke up", Ahsoka said in relief.
She leaned over and hugged Sam.
Sam hugged Ahsoka back.
The two held each other for a few minutes.
"Mom…. He knows….", Sam said in fear.
Ahsoka said, "I know sweety…. I know…."
"I know he's going to send them after us….", Sam whimpered in fear as he thought about the Inquisitors.
Ahsoka said, "and we'll face them…. Together."
Sam nods his head as he keeps hugging Ahsoka. He was relieved to be held in her arms.
….
Meanwhile….
We see Vader inside one of the Star Destroyers.
He was radiating pure anger, the rage he felt over losing his son yet again dripped off of him like pouring rain.
And not only that, he had also learned Ahsoka Tano was still alive.
He felt conflicted at the news that his old padawans were now a part of the Rebellion.
Was she the one who had been looking after Sam during the last few years?
What had she told his son about himself? About the Jedi? The Sith? The Empire?
Was Tano training Sam to be…. A Jedi?
No…. He couldn't allow this to happen!
He won't let Tano turn his son against him!
He'd die first!
Vader then walked towards a control panel and prepared to contact them.
He needed to act fast if he was to get his son back.
"I have a task for you two….", Vader said.
A sickly sweet yet sinister voice said, "what is it, my Lord?"
"I need you two to go after this Rebel group, they have my son with them", Vader said.
The voice said, "it will be done, my Lord."
"But here's a warning….", Vader said, "if even a single hair on his head is out of place, I'll send you to be eaten by the Sarlacc pit! Do I make myself clear?"
The Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister's faces went pale as they nodded their heads in fear.
Vader growled, "good…."
The call then ended.
Vader then walked towards one of the windows.
He whispered, "I will have you back. I promise…."
….
Sometime later….
Sam asked, "Mom, who are we waiting for?"
Ahsoka said, "an old friend from the war."
Sam was about to ask who, when they heard footsteps.
Ahsoka and Sam turned around to see the Ghost Crew.
Then the Rebel group let someone pass.
"Commander."
Ahsoka smiled when she saw him.
An older man with a white beard and old clone armor.
She smirked and said, "Captain?"
Ahsoka then walked towards the older man.
"You got old", the man said.
"Had to happen sometime, Rex", Ahsoka said before she then hugged him.
Rex hugged back with a warm smile on his face.
The two then broke the hug and Rex noticed Sam.
Rex asked, "and who might you be, kid?"
Ahsoka knelt down next to Sam and said, "Rex, this is Sam…. Anakin's son."
Rex then went wide eyed.
Sam gave a polite wave.
"My mom did tell me stories about the 501st Legion, and about you", Sam said.
Rex smiled and said, "I knew your father, kid. He was a good man when I knew him."
Sam asked with sparkles in his eyes, "really?"
Rex nodded and said, "he was one of the best generals I served under."
Sam smiled. It was nice to hear some good things about his father.
Rex asked, "so how come you're raising General Skywalker's son?"
Ahsoka and Sam glanced at one another.
"Oh boy, Rex we have a lot to tell you….", Ahsoka said as she sighed.
Rex gave a confused look.
….
One hour later….
Rex could only say one word….
"Woah."
Ahsoka was hugging Sam as they had finished telling Rex how Anakin became Darth Vader.
Sam needed the hug, honestly. It was always a hard story to tell.
"I just can't believe General Skywalker…. Is now the Emperor and a Sith lord", Rex said sadly.
Ahsoka said, "neither could I, at first."
"And to make it worse, my father knows that I am with the Rebels", Sam said.
Rex said, "that's bad news."
"And he's already sent two Inquisitors after Sam", Ahsoka said.
"Yeah, when Sabine, Zeb and I were on an abandoned Republic medical station, those two Inquisitors kept asking about Sam", Ezra said.
Sabine said, "it's clear that Vader isn't gonna stop until he gets Sam back."
"Yeah, that man is obsessed", Zeb said.
Chopper beeped their agreement.
Sam felt Ahsoka hug him close to her.
He enjoyed the hug, as always.
….
We then see Ahsoka, Hunter and Sam investigating a passenger ship.
The Rebels had received info that the Inquisitors had attacked the ship and were on the planet Takobo to retrieve something.
Ezra, Kanan, Zeb and Chopper were sent to the planet to find out what the Inquisitors were after.
"I can't believe the Inquisitors attacked an innocent passenger Ship", Hunter said.
Sam asked, "what could they be after?"
Ahsoka said, "whatever they want, it can't be anything good."
"Wait, I hear something", Sam said.
"Help."
The trio walk over to where the voice was coming from and they find an eldery woman on the ground.
"It's okay, we're here to help", Ahsoka said.
Hunter asked, "what's your name?"
"Darja. Help me. Help my grandchild", Darja said feeling weak.
Ahsoka asked, "your grandchild?"
"They took her, the red blades, they knew that she had it", Darja said, scared.
Sam now knew what this elderly woman meant.
He said, "Darja, I promise you, we'll find your granddaughter."
Darja said, "oh, bless you, young man. Bless you."
"Hunter, you get her to the ship and get her back to the main Rebel ship for medical attention", Ahsoka said.
Hunter asked, "on it. What are you two going to do?"
"We're going to stop the Inquisitors, I now know why they are on Takobo…. They're going to kidnap another Force sensitive child", Sam said as he clenched his fists.
Ahsoka gestured to her lightsabers and said, "and we ain't gonna let that happen."
Sam said, "man, I can't wait until I get my lightsaber."
"I'm glad you asked, I have a surprise for you, Sam….", Ahsoka said.
….
On Takobo….
Ezra and the others were on the ground, as they had all been beaten by the Inquisitors.
Ezra was holding in his arms an Ithorian child named Pypey.
The Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister approach them, but then the doors to the spaceport open.
They turn to see two figures emerge.
Ahsoka and Sam!
Ahsoka said, "hmm…. I thought this would be a challenge…."
"Unexpected, but not unwelcome", the Seventh Sister said as she smirked at the sight of them.
Sam glared at the two Inquisitors.
Sam and Ahsoka then summoned their lightsabers to their hands.
That's right, Sam now had two lightsabers!
Before coming down to the planet, Ahsoka had gifted Sam two katana shaped lightsabers.
He was going to need them, afterall.
Sam activated his lightsabers for the first time, and they were both a cyan color.
They glowed vibrantly in the dark!
Ahsoka activated her lightsabers and they were both a white color.
"Ezra, get the younglings to the ship", Ahsoka said as she gave a wink to Ezra.
Sam and Ahsoka then jumped towards the Inquisitors.
They began a furious battle as the others sprung into action!
"Come on guys, get up", Ezra said to Kanan and Zeb.
Kanan asked, "qhat about Ahsoka and Sam?"
"They're doing fine", Ezra said as he and the others ran to the Phantom.
Sam was dueling the Seventh Sister.
"Mom and I know why you want the children", Sam said as he glared at the Inquisitor.
The Seventh Sister chuckled maliciously and said, "young blood like them will make fine Inquisitors!"
"That's NOT gonna happen", Sam growled as he clashed his two cyan sabers against the Seventh's sister's red double bladed saber.
Ahsoka was dueling the Fifth Brother.
She growled, "you don't talk much, do ya?"
The Fifth Brother then charged towards Ahsoka, But she easily force pushed him into a pillar, knocking him out.
"Too easy", Ahsoka said as she smirked.
….
On the Phantom….
"We gotta go back for them", Kanan said.
"If we get airborne, I bet they'll just come to us", Ezra said.
….
Ahsoka then began dueling the Seventh Sister.
She kept blocking each of the Inquisitor's strikes and then kicked her in the stomach, sending her back a bit.
Ahsoka turns off her own lightsabers and takes a meditative stance.
Sam notices and takes one right beside her after deactivating his own lightsabers.
Seeing an opportunity, the Seventh Sister tries to attack her, but Ahsoka catches the Seventh Sister's lightsaber hilt with her bare hands and then uses the Force to turn the blades off, leaving the Seventh Sister in absolute disbelief.
Ahsoka opened her eyes and gave a smug grin as she said, "you dark side users always make that mistake."
Ahsoka then tossed the Seventh Sister's lightsaber away.
Sam and Ahsoka then force push the Inquisitor into a pillar.
Sam said, "not so tough now, hmm?"
"You are beaten", Ahsoka said.
The Seventh Sister growled in rage!
Then she began chuckling.
Then scouts began to surround the area.
"It looks like you are the one who is beaten", the seventh Sister said.
Sam and Ahsoka looked around at the scouts surrounding them.
The Fifth brother then woke up and stood beside the Seventh Sister.
"Not only will Ahsoka Tano's capture please the Emperor, But he will be happy when we return with his son", the Seventh Sister said.
The Phantom then flew up in the sky.
"Tell my father, he'll have to wait", Sam said as he smirked.
The Seventh Sister yelled, "shoot down that ship, you idiots!"
The scouts shoot at the Phantom as Ahsoka and Sam dashes towards the ship!
The two then used the Force to jump towards the ship.
Sam blew a raspberry at the Inquisitors!
The two then made it to the Phantom and got inside.
They both gave sighs of relief.
They saw the two infants were safe and sound.
Ahsoka walked over to Kanan.
"They're Force sensitive. I've seen this before. A Sith Lord attempted the same thing back in the Clone Wars, but the Jedi Order stopped him", Ahsoka said.
"And now there's no Jedi Order to protect them", Kanan said.
The others all looked down in worry and thought.
"Then I guess that duty belongs to the rebels now", Sam said.
The others nodded.
"Sam, I wanted to say that I am so proud of you", Ahsoka said as she smiled.
Sam smiled back and said, "thank you, mom."
Sam then hugged Ahsoka.
Ahsoka held her adopted son close.
….
Meanwhile….
The Seventh Sister and The Fifth Brother were speaking with Darth Vader.
He was not pleased with their failure to retrieve Sam.
Vader then began to force choke the two Inquisitors.
He growled, "I told you to return my son to me!"
"We tried…. But he had two lightsabers with him", the Fifth brother choked out.
Vader growled, "two lightsabers…. So…. My son now wields the weapon of a Jedi."
"Yes….", the Seventh Sister choked out.
Vader grew eerily silent for a few moments.
He growled, "I will give you two more chances…. But if you keep failing me…."
Vader suddenly ignited his lightsaber.
"Then I will personally cut off your heads", Vader growled.
He then stopped choking them and let them fall to the ground.
Vader growled, "understand?"
The two nod their heads fearfully.
Vader said, "good…."
….
Meanwhile….
We see Sam in his room holding Polly.
"You did really well today Little one", Revan said as he appeared in the room.
Sam smiled and said, "thank you, Uncle Revan."
"I've already spoken with Ahsoka", Revan said.
Sam asked, "about what?"
"A vision I had…. I see your adopted mother dueling Vader", Revan said.
Sam gave a shocked look and asked, "will she be alright? Please, tell me she'll be okay!"
"All I can see is that you must be there to help her", Revan said.
Sam asked, "and will that help her survive against him?"
Revan nods his head.
Sam gave a firm nod and said, "I'll be there."
Revan gave a proud nod.
And with that, he vanished as he said, "I'm proud of you, my boy…."
Sam smiled. He was happy to hear those words.
….
We then see Sam, Ahsoka and Hunter in a room of the Ghost ship.
The three were looking at a Holocron video of Anakin showing how to defend against droid blasts.
Sam asked, "so this was the man my father used to be."
"Yes, he was the most powerful Jedi at the temple and in the Clone wars", Ahsoka said.
Ahsoka then gave a somber look.
Sam then hugged his adopted mother.
Hunter joined in on the hug.
Ezra then walked inside the room and he smiled at the sight.
Ezra asked as he pointed to Anakin, "who's that?"
"Anakin Skywalker", Ahsoka said as she smiled.
Sam said, "my father, before he became the Emperor."
"Kanan said he was the greatest warrior the Jedi had in the Clone Wars", Ezra said.
"He was powerful, rarely lost a battle. What would have surprised people was how kind he was. He cared deeply about his friends, and looked out for them until the end…. That was before he became Darth Vader", Ahsoka said with a sad look on her face.
Sam hugged his adopted mother yet again and said, "it's not your fault, mom. Remember that."
"Thank you sweety", Ahsoka said.
Hunter once again joined the hug.
The holovideo then ended.
Kanan asked as he entered the room, "Ahsoka, how about we do the hunting for once instead?"
"When you defeated the Grand Inquisitor, Two more came, who's to say we won't multiply our problems yet again", Ahsoka said.
Sam said, "she has a point. There's several other Inquisitors still out there."
"And there's Vader", Ezra said.
Hunter said, "that too."
"And it was times like these that Anakin and I would go to Master Yoda or Obi Wan. They almost always had the right answer", Ahsoka said.
"Then maybe we should ask Master Yoda", Kanan said.
Ahsoka said, "I would if I could. But I have no idea if he's even still out there."
"We know where to contact him", Kanan said.
….
Sometime later, we see the group inside the Jedi Temple of Lothal.
Kanan had been taken into a different part of the Temple.
Ezra asked, "so you knew Master Yoda?"
"Yes. He taught almost all of the younglings in the temple at one point or another", Ahsoka said.
"Kanan described him to me. Small, green, and wrinkly with pointy ears", Ezra said.
Sam asked, "but what was he really like Mom?"
"No one actually knew what he was like. He was wise, kind, but when I was young, he seemed happier. As the Clone war dragged on…. He carried a great burden, a deep sorrow…. As if he knew before anyone else that one time was ending, and another beginning", Ahsoka said.
Kanan said, "I noticed that too. The war weighed heavily on him more than anyone else."
Sam said, "let's hope, if he's still around, he's somewhere safe and sound."
….
We then see Sam alone in a room of the Temple.
"Sam."
Sam heard a voice say, but he didn't see anyone.
"Sam, it's me."
Sam didn't know how, but he seemed to recognise the voice.
He whispered, "mom?"
"Yes sweetie, I'm right here", Padme said.
Sam looked behind him and gave a shocked look at what he saw.
He saw his mother, Padme Amidala.
Sam asked, "but how…. Are you here?"
Padme said, "the force can often connect people who've been separated by death."
Padme then spread her arms out.
Sam ran into her arms as she embraced him.
Sam felt tears fall down his face.
He never thought this moment would come.
"Oh my precious baby, you have grown so much", Padme soothed.
Sam cried, "I've wanted to meet you for so long."
"How I wish that I could have been strong enough to live for you and your siblings, so I could have raised you three together", Padme said softly.
"Mom…. What really happened? Dad never told me what really happened the last time you two saw each other", Sam asked.
Padme sighed and said, "after your father was seduced to the dark side, he went to Mustufar in order to take out the last of the enemy leaders. I came to confront him, to see if it was true. Your father had grown angry and bitter…. He nearly attacked me, if it wasn't for an old friend; Obi Wan Kenobi. After seeing the man your father had become, I lost the will to live…. The last thing I told Obi Wan was…. I believe there's still good in your father."
Sam had a look of shock and horror on his face.
He still couldn't believe how many horrible things his dad had done.
"Mom…. I'm so sorry", Sam said as tears fell down his face.
Padme said, "oh, my baby boy, you have nothing to apologize for."
Sam asked, "but can there really still be good in Dad?"
Padme said, "I know there is. And it's you who keeps it alive, and ready to surface again one day."
Sam smiled as there was still hope to save his father.
"Mom…. Should I tell my father that I got to meet you…. And how you really died…. I've heard him at times blame himself for your death", Sam asked.
Padme said, "when you do see him again…. Tell him that I forgive him for what he's done…. That I know there's good in him…."
Sam nods his head.
"You know when I saw your face Sam, I always knew that you would have the gift of being adorable", Padme said as she smiled.
Sam gave a melancholy chuckle.
"Also, I give you my blessing, and now all my dresses now belong to you", Padme said.
Sam smiled widely when he heard that.
The temple then starts to shake.
Sam asked, "what's going on!?"
"The Inquisitors have found you, you must go", Padme said.
Sam asked, "will…. Will I see you again?"
Padme smiled and said, "of course, my little boy."
Sam gave his mother one last hug.
He whispered, "I love you so much."
"I love you too, now go", Padme said
And with that, Sam hurried off!
Sam then met up with the others.
"Come on, we have to go", Kanan said.
Sam nodded.
The group was able to escape the temple.
"Looks like the Inquisitors are inside the temple", Ezra said.
"Quick, to the Phantom", Kanan said.
Everyone got onboard the ship and it took off.
"I saw Master Yoda", Ezra said.
Kanan asked, "saw him? What did he say?"
Ezra asked, "he said to find Malachor. Who's Malachor?"
"Malachor isn't a person. It's a place", Ahsoka said.
Sam said, "why do I get the feeling that Malachor isn't the nicest planet in the galaxy?"
Kanan said, "Malachor is the homeworld of the Sith."
"I knew it", Sam whispered.
Ahsoka said, "are you sure Master Yoda told you to go there?"
"It's what he told me, he didn't say anything else", Ezra said.
"Then we'll have to trust Master Yoda's words", Kanan said.
Sam asked his adopted mother, "mom…. Can I talk to you?"
Ahsoka asked, "what is it, Sam?"
Sam said, "I…. I saw Padme…. I saw my mother."
Ahsoka had a shocked look on her face.
She asked, "did she say anything?"
"She told me what really happened that day…. The day she died", Sam said.
Ahsoka hugged Sam and said, "oh, honey."
"She told me her last words were that there is still good in my father", Sam said.
Ahsoka smiled and said, "that's Padme, alright."
Sam smiled softly.
He said, "she was everything you said and more."
Ahsoka held her adopted son close.
They both missed Padme dearly.
And they both vowed to bring Vader back to the light side.
Whatever it took….
….
We then see Sam, Ahsoka, Kanan and Ezra on Malachor.
Sam said, "this whole place…. It just feels evil…."
"That's why it's called the homeworld of the Sith, it's full of the darkside", Ahsoka said.
Ezra said, "that explains a lot."
Sam said, "I'm glad the others didn't come here…."
Sam then let out a yell of shock as he fell through the surface.
The others fell as well and they all landed on the ground.
"Ow", Sam groaned.
Ahsoka shrieked, "ah! Someone's hands are on my-"
Ezra yelled, "SORRY!"
The group made it to their feet.
"Look", Sam said as he pointed something in the distance.
Ezra asked, "is that a temple?"
"A Sith Temple", Kanan said.
Sam said, "why do I get the feeling that's where we need to head to?"
"If Master Yoda told us to come here, whatever we are looking for lies inside that temple", Kanan said.
Ahsoka said, "we should stay together…. I sense something else on this planet with us…."
"Me too….", Sam said.
The group then began walking towards the temple.
They could feel the dark side radiating off of practically everything.
"Kanan, look out", Ezra shouted as he pushed him away to block an incoming Lightsaber attack.
Ahsoka then force pushed the attacker away.
"Oh you have to be kidding me", Sam growled.
It was the Eighth Brother.
Ahsoka and Sam quickly activated their lightsaber as the former said, "you nerf herders never learn!"
"Three Jedi and the prince", the Eighth brother said amused.
Sam growled, "you're not going to win this…."
The Eighth brother charged at them.
But just like Sam had said, he wasn't having any luck defeating any of the four Jedi.
The Eighth Brother then threw a detonator and it exploded beneath Ezra's feet.
"Kanan", Ezra shouted.
"Ezra", Kanan shouted as he and the others went to check if Ezra was okay.
The Eighth Brother used that chance to escape.
"I'm okay! Don't worry about me, I'll catch up, don't let that Inquisitor get away", Ezra said.
Sam said, "stay put! We'll come back for you after we deal with the Inquisitor!"
Ezra yelled, "okay!"
The three then went after the Inquisitor.
"I just hope this doesn't get any worse", Ezra whispered.
The situation did get worse in fact.
First, the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother arrived on Malachor with the intention of killing the Jedi and bringing Sam back to his father.
Second, Maul appeared and even though he did help fight off the Inquisitors or should we say, killed them all, he ended up betraying the group as he left Kanan blind and tried to take Ezra as his apprentice, But Ahsoka was able to defeat him.
But then to make matters even worse…. Darth Vader arrived.
Sam had made sure to stick by Ahsoka's side when that happened, heading Revan's words.
He wanted to make sure he didn't lose either his adopted mother or his father.
And this was the first time Vader had seen his son in years!
….
Sam stood by his adopted mother.
They both saw that Vader had almost tried to kill Ezra.
But he had stopped his blade inches from the young man when he felt the presence of his old student and his son.
"It was foretold that you would be here. Our long-awaited meeting has come at last", Vader said to Ahsoka.
Ahsoka growled, "when I last saw you, you were a kind man who protected the innocent…. Now you're a pawn of the dark side."
Vader ignored her words as he turned to look at his son.
Sam kept himself from fidgeting at his father's gaze.
"Sam…. My little one….", Vader said softly.
Sam sighed and said, "hi dad…. How's Lilith?"
"She's fine…. But what's most important right now is bringing you back home with me", Vader said.
Sam said, "I can't come home, dad! Not after everything I've seen! Everything I've learned! The Empire has done terrible things!"
Ahsoka saw Vader clench his fists.
Vader growled, "you've turned him against me!"
Sam yelled, "she had nothing to do with that! The day I saw your Inquisitors murder a Jedi, I decided I had to leave! I've seen how many innocent people have suffered at the hands of them and the scouts!"
Vader beneath his mask, had a shocked look on his face.
Was that why his son was so scared of the Inquisitors?
Sam said, "please dad! There's still good in you! I know it! Mom knew it too!"
Vader was silent for a few minutes and then he said, "it is too late, my son…."
Sam felt tears fall down his face. He was still holding out hope to save his father.
Vader walked towards his son, but Ahsoka stood in front of her adopted son.
She said, "don't do something you'll regret…. Skyguy."
Vader clenched his fists as he growled.
Sam glanced at Ahsoka and asked, "Skyguy?"
Ahsoka said, "an old nickname I gave your father. Skyguy and Snips. That was us back in the war."
Vader growled, "my name is Vader. And you would be wise to surrender, Jedi…."
Ahsoka activates her two lightsabers as she said, "not a chance."
"Mom….", Sam said and Vader heard it.
He said, "'mom?!' You dare call her that?!"
Sam yelled, "she's raised me for years! She's family!"
Vader then turned to glare at Ahsoka and then he growled.
He activated his saber.
Sam then activated his two lightsabers.
He moved to stand beside his adopted mother.
"Stand aside son", Vader said.
Sam said, "no."
Ahsoka and Sam then charged towards Vader.
Vader charged right at them!
Ahsoka's sabers clashed against Vader's saber.
The sound of their sabers clashing was like thunder!
Vader then force pushed her and tried to strike her, but Sam blocked the attack with his sabers.
His eyes glazed like hot coals as he defended Ahsoka!
"I won't let you hurt Mom", Sam shouted
Vader yelled, "do not call her that!"
Sam used the force to push his father away from his adopted mother.
He then helped Ahsoka up.
Sam asked, "Mom, are you okay?"
"Yes…. I'm….", Ahsoka said before she was force pushed into a wall.
"MOM", Sam shouted as he tried to run over to help her, but then he was caught by his father's force tendrils.
Vader slowly began making his way towards Ahsoka.
Sam yelled at his father, "don't you dare hurt her!"
Vader ignored his son as he kept walking towards Ahsoka.
Vader growled, "this is the end for you, Jedi…."
But just as Vader was about to strike, Sam suddenly yelled, "I SPOKE WITH PADME!"
Vader then froze as he turned to look at his son.
Vader asked, "what did you just say?"
Sam said, "I talked with mom. Her spirit came to me at one of the old temples…."
Sam could see his father's hands shake.
Vader asked, "what…. Did she say?"
A tear slid down Sam's cheek as he said, "she told me how proud she was of me…. How much she loved me…. Loved us…. How she met her end…. And how she believed…. That no matter what you've done…. That there's still good in you…."
Sam and Ahsoka could feel Vader's emotions.
How they conflicted and crashed against each other like violent waves on Kamino.
Sam could sense that his father was crying, hiding his emotions behind the mask.
"Dad, please…. I know there is good in you…. I know there is", Sam pleaded.
Vader looked down, when he heard….
"Anakin."
…. Ahsoka said his name.
Vader was now shaking.
His emotions were cascading like a flood!
Sam asked, concerned for his father, "Dad?"
Ahsoka was practically holding her breath.
"Go", Vader said.
Vader dropped Sam and Ahsoka.
"Leave now…. Before I change my mind", Vader said.
Ahsoka saw that Kanan and Ezra had managed to grab the Sith Holocron.
Ahsoka then ran over to Sam.
She began leading him out of the area as he gave one last look at his father.
"I love you father", Sam said softly.
Vader looked at his son as he left and whispered, "I love you…. My son."
Sam felt tears fall down his face.
It wasn't easy, having to say goodbye to his father yet again.
But he had to.
He was still on a journey that needed to see its end….
….
We then see Hunter back on the Falcon as he and the others waited for Ahsoka and Sam.
Eda and Chewie were playing that chess game as King watched.
Then a sound was heard.
Hunter saw his wife enter the ship and she was carrying Sam who was asleep.
He said, "you made it! Thank the force!"
Hunter then saw tears on his wife's face.
Hunter went over and asked, "what happened?"
Ahsoka then explained everything that had happened on Malachor.
From the Inquisitors, to Maul, to Vader.
Hunter then hugged his wife.
Ahsoka happily accepted the hug.
Eda asked, "is Sam okay?"
Ahsoka said, "physically? Yes. Emotionally? It's been a very long day."
Ahsoka then took Sam into a spare room of the Falcon.
She laid him down on the bed and tucked him in.
Ahsoka then picked up Polly and placed the plushie next to Sam.
Sam hugged it close and smiled as he slept.
Ahsoka smiled and kissed her adopted son on the forehead.
"Have sweet dreams sweetie", Ahsoka whispered.
And with that, Ahsoka left her son to his dreams….
