The arrangements to be set back up in his tower had been easier than he thought. The tower hadn't been sold, instead simply being used as it had been before his disappearance. The employee he'd talked hadn't taken much convincing to believe that he was indeed Tony Stark. It appeared that most of the world thought he'd simply gone on some kind of holiday or something, but while it hurt it really did work in his favour. The employee – one Mrs Richards, - had told him that his private floors had been left alone while the RB labs and other SI floors were still being used by the company. He'd thanked her and hung up, filing away her name, he tried his best to remember the names of the employees he interacted with. Tony then checked up on the state of his company and was pleasantly surprised. Yes, they'd dropped a few points, to be expected, yet they were holding their average as slightly above most other companies like them in the world. Well, that was one less thing to worry about. He could settle back into life and sort through everything before re-joining RB and maybe take back the role of CEO. He just finished a phone call asking a car to collect him when the door opened to revel Helen.
"Good evening Mr Stark," Tony startled at that, checking the time it turned out he really had spent around 12 hours either asleep or talking to people. Huh.
"Hello. Is something wrong?" Helen walked further into the room, the door closing softly behind her, and placed a bag on the chair Peter had occupied earlier.
"Not particularly, I simply want to conduct a standard check up to make sure the procedure went smoothly, if that alright with you," Tony nodded in consent, and watched as Dr. Cho pulled out a small light from her pocket and a blood pressure pump or whatever they're called from the bag. "So, how are you feeling? You're pain medication would have worn off a while ago and you haven't called for more, so I assume the pain is manageable?" in truth Tony hadn't even noticed the pain since he woke up, which thinking about it was odd as he had undergone an extensive procedure and he said as much.
Dr. Cho frowned slightly but didn't respond. Instead turned on the light and began to give him instructions. Tony had gone through this kind of thing multiple times, even before the whole Iron Man thing, so followed the light according to her instructions.
"Well your eyes respond normally so we can say that there is no extensive brain damage." She then wrapped the Blood pressure device around his arm and pumped the little pump thing a couple of times. Okay so sue him, he wasn't a Doctor and really had no idea what was happening, but it wasn't threatening his safety, so we went along with it quietly. Though the name was a pretty good clue to what she was doing.
"Finally, I would like to take some of your blood to make sure you haven't brought anything over from Afghanistan." Now that made Tony pause, he never liked other people having access to his blood, especially now that he knew that Gods and things were real, blood magic wasn't as farfetched as it once was. However it was a valuable concern.
"surely you could have taken some during the surgery."
"Yes, we could, but we needed your consent, and you were not in your right mind before the surgery started so that would have been unethical,"
"As long as you dispose of it afterwards than that will be fine."
"That can be arranged," she said with a smile, pulling out a syringe in a plastic wrapper out of the bag. The blood was drawn, and the injury was covered by cotton wool in seconds. "That's everything then. You seem to be in fine condition though I would like to get another X-ray of your arm and continue to monitor your condition,"
"ahh, I've already made arrangements to go back to the tower, though I'm sure Friday will keep you up to date on my condition,"
"Though that's not entirely an agreeable option, I can understand your hesitance of staying here. I or one of my co-workers will meet you to do another check-up."
"Thank you, Dr. Cho," She gave him a nod, packed up her things and left. As soon as he was alone, Tony pulled back his covers and placed his legs over the side of the bed. Before pushing himself up, he quickly took stock of his body. His head while a little fuzzy, was fine and his arm wasn't hurting, simply a heavy lump on his right. His arc reactor wasn't causing any trouble either, simply a weight on his chest that he could ignore. He was also happy to see that just like the casual t-shirt he was dressed in, he was also in a good fitting pair of tracksuits. At least he wasn't meeting his driver in an ill-fitting hospital gown. He managed to pull himself onto his feet, his legs didn't even wobble, and he quickly went about finding a pair of shoes. As he was placing them up, he suddenly thought of something.
"Friday, is Doctor Strange still in the building?"
"No, boss. He left before Peter,"
"Okay, cool, if anyone asks where I am, tell them I've returned to the tower."
"Of course Boss."
His escape from the compound was pretty easy considering it was home to superheroes, though Friday was a great help in helping him avoid everyone. He met his driver outside the gates of the compound. An old chauffer he'd used when Happy wasn't around to drive him or he couldn't drive himself. Right now he didn't trust himself behind a wheel, and he wouldn't get in a car with some guy he didn't know. Not now, not ever.
"Evening George," he said as he slipped into the car.
"Evenin' Mr Stark. It's nice ta see you again," Tony laughed quietly to himself,
"Nice to see you to George."
