Chapter 10: Rescuing a Princess
The group were walking down the hall in their disguises.
Polly was hiding in Sam's pocket, although it was a bit of a tight squeeze.
As they walked down the hall to the elevators that led to the detention level, they saw a mouse droid on the floor.
Chewie growled at it, making the droid roll off in fright!
Eda and Sam started snickering.
Soon, the group made it to the elevators and got in.
They slowly started going up, hearing an upbeat version of the Imperial march as the elevator music.
They soon stopped, but Han said, "oops, wrong floor. This is the bathhouse."
They saw several scouts still wearing their helmets as they sat around in towels.
The doors to the elevator closed and the group soon made it to the right floor.
Guards and laser gates are everywhere.
Han whispered, "how are we going to do this?"
Sam whispered, "follow my lead."
One of the officers approached and asked, "where are you taking this…. Thing?"
Sam said, "prisoner transfer. Cell block one-one-three-eight?"
The officer said, "I wasn't aware of this…. I'll inspect the prisoner myself."
The officer goes back to his console and begins to punch in the information.
Another officer tried to take Chewie away, but the Wookie suddenly broke out of his bindings and roared into the air!
Sam yelled, "look out, he's loose!"
Luke and Han pulled out their blasters as the former yelled, "I'll get him!"
The startled guards are momentarily dumbfounded. But Luke and Han are already blasting away at the terrifying Wookiee. Or rather, their barrage of laserfire misses Chewbacca, but hits the cameras, laser gate controls, and the Imperial guards. The officer is the last of the guards to fall under the laserfire just as he is about to push the alarm system. Han rushes to the comlink system, which is screeching questions about what is going on. He quickly checks the computer readout.
The group began securing the room as Sam asked, "find what cell she's in?"
"Here it is…. Cell twenty-one-eight-seven", Han said.
Sam said, "me and Luke will go get her. You guys handle things here!"
As the boys ran off, the call began beeping, meaning that a call was coming through!
Han speaks into the buzzing comlink.
"Everything is under control. Situation normal", Han said.
"What happened?"
Han asked, "uh…. Had a slight weapons malfunction. But, uh, everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?"
Eda and King face-palmed as Han cringed at his own line at the end.
"We're sending a squad up."
Han said, "u-uh, negative! Negative! We have uh, a reactor leak here, uh, now. Uh, give us a few minutes to lock it down. Uh, large leak, VERY dangerous!"
"Who is this? What's your operating number?!"
Han said, "um….", before he blasted the console, "boring conversation anyway. Luke! Sam! We're gonna have company!"
Sam and Luke ran to the cell door.
Luke then blasts it open with his blaster.
They saw Leia laying there. She slowly woke up and sat up to see the duo. Sam was smiling under his helmet at the sight of his twin sister!
Leia asked Luke, "aren't you a little short to be a scout?"
Luke asked, "huh? Oh! The uniform!"
Luke and Sam both took off their helmets.
Luke said, "I'm Luke Skywalker, we're here to rescue you!"
Leia asked, "you're who?"
Luke said, "we're here to rescue you!"
Sam said, "we came here on a ship with Ben Kenobi! I'm Sam, by the way!"
Leia asked as she stood up, "Ben Kenobi is here!? Where is he?!"
Sam said, "he's here on the station. Here to help us rescue you. Now come on, we gotta get outta here!"
….
Meanwhile, in the Death star Conference room.
"He is here….", Vader said.
Tarkin asked, "Obi-Wan Kenobi? What makes you think so?"
Vader said, "I felt a very familiar presence here on this ship…. One I have not felt since I last faced my old master."
"Surely he must be dead by now", Tarkin said.
"Don't underestimate the power of the Force", Vader said.
Tarkin said, "the Jedi are no more. You are the last of that dying religion."
Vader thought, 'you have no idea how wrong you are about that.'
There is a quiet buzz on the comlink.
"Yes", Tarkin asked.
"Governor Tarkin, we have an emergency alert in detention block A-A-twenty-three."
Tarkin yelled, "the Princess?!"
Vader said, "Obi Wan is here for the Princess and her secret plans."
"If you're right, he must not be allowed to escape", Tarkin said.
Tarkin had a manic look in his eyes that even Vader was frightened of.
"Escape is not his plan. I must face him alone", Vader said.
Vader skulked off to find Obi Wan….
….
With the others….
An ominous buzzing sound is heard on the other side of the elevator door.
Han and the others quickly take off down the hall, pointing their blasters at the door.
A series of explosions knock a hole in the elevator door through which several Imperial scouts begin to emerge.
The group began shooting at the scouts as they tried to figure out their escape plan.
Leia said, "this is some rescue!"
Han yelled, "maybe you'd like it back in your cell, your highness!"
A shot narrowly missed Han's head!
Polly shouted, "where do we go now?!"
Leia then saw a nearby grate and pulled Luke's blaster away!
Han yelled, "the Hell are you doing?!"
Leia yelled, "somebody has to save our skins!"
She blasted a few scouts before blasting the wall grate to pieces!
"Into the garbage chute, wise guy", Leia said.
Leia jumped down the chute!
Eda smirked and said, "I like her!"
"Let's go", Sam said as he jumped down the chute!
Eda jumped down, yelling, "YABBA DABBA DOO!"
King jumped down next, yelling, "SCOOBY DOOBY DOO!"
Polly jumped down after them, yelling, "I DON'T HAVE A CARTOON CATCHPHRASE!"
"WAIT FOR ME", Alastor yelled as he jumped down the chute.
Chewie whined, not wanting to go down the chute!
Han yelled, "I don't care what ya smell, go down the chute!"
Han gives him a kick and the Wookiee disappears into the tiny opening. Luke and Han continue firing as they work their way toward the opening.
Luke jumps down next, and then Han is the final one to jump down!
Han tumbles into the large room filled with garbage and muck.
Luke is already stumbling around looking for an exit.
Eda is wringing some dirty water out of her hair as Han said, "oh, great. Just fantastic. What an interesting smell you've discovered!"
Sam said, "did you have any better ideas?"
"Yeah, I have one", Han said as he drew his laser pistol.
"No, wait", Luke shouted.
Han fires at the hatch. The laserbolt ricochets wildly around the small metal room.
Everyone dives for cover in the garbage as the bolt explodes almost on top of them.
Leia yelled, "put that thing away or you're gonna get us all killed!"
Han said, "oh, absolutely your worship- look, I had everything under control-"
Everyone else said, "no he didn't."
"-until you led us down here. You know, it's not going to take them long to figure out what happened to us", Han said as he continued his talk with Leia.
"It could be worse", Leia said.
The group heard a rumbling noise!
Han said, "it's worse."
A loud, horrible, inhuman moan works its way up from the murky depths. Chewbacca lets out a terrified howl and begins to back away. Han and Luke stand fast with their laser pistols drawn. The Wookiee is cowering near one of the walls.
"There's something alive in here", Luke said.
Polly spotted some sort of eye poking out of the water and quickly jumped into Eda's arms!
Sam asked, "Polly, what did-"
But then, Sam felt something grab his leg!
Suddenly, Sam is yanked under the garbage!
The others yelled, "SAM!"
Alastor instantly dived down into the water below them!
Polly shouted, "SAM! ALASTOR!"
Suddenly, the water turned a dark red color!
Everyone held their breath in silence for a solid minute, until….
"GASP!"
Alastor burst out of the water, holding a coughing Sam in his arms!
"SAM! ALASTOR", the others shouted in relief.
Sam caught his breath as Alastor held him close.
"My hero", Sam whispered as he gave Alastor a kiss.
Leia was shocked to see the two men kiss.
"They're a couple", Polly explained.
Leia said, "oh…. That explains things…. Good for them."
King asked, "then why did the water turn red?"
Eda whispered into King's ear.
King went wide-eyed and said, "oh…."
Sam and Alastor then broke the kiss.
Han said, "well…. Now we just gotta get outta here before anything else happens."
Before anyone can say anything else the walls begin to rumble and edge toward the group.
Eda yelled, "way to go and jinx us, Han!"
"Don't just stand there. Try to brace it with something", Leia shouted.
Han spotted a large metal pole and tried to use it to stop the doors!
Polly asked, "will it work?"
Eda said, "let's hope so!"
The poles are simply snapped and bent as the giant trash masher rumbles on. The situation doesn't look too good.
Luke then suddenly had an idea!
He began yelling into his comlink, "THREEPIO! THREEPIO! COME IN THREEPIO!"
Han yelled as he tried to push against a wall, "one thing's for sure, we're all gonna be a lot thinner!"
Polly started crying in fear.
Luke kept shouting, "Threepio", as Alastor and Sam hugged Polly close.
Eda shouted, "why is it taking that droid so long to respond!?"
King yelled, "heck if I know!"
"Make it stop", Polly cried.
That's when Luke heard over his comlink….
"Master Luke?"
"Threepio", Luke shouted in relief.
"We've had some problems-" C3-P0 tried to say.
Luke said, "will you shut up and listen to me? Shut down all garbage mashers on the detention level, will you? Do you copy?"
After a few more pleas, and as the group was just barely squished…. The walls stopped and moved back!
"Oh thank the force", Sam said in relief.
The group began cheering in joy and relief as Luke told C3-P0 what doors to open for them.
That's when Eda and King saw a nearby couch.
Eda said, "look at this couch! Somebody threw out a whole couch and it's in great shape!"
King said, "yeah, you spray it up, scrub it down a bit, it would look great in the Falcon."
Eda said, "okay, I know we have a dangerous mission and all, but…. I'm taking this! I'm taking this couch!"
Sam said, "are you serious?"
Eda said, "dead serious."
The others groaned….
….
We soon see the group getting out of the trash compactor room.
They ditched their Imperial disguises, and Eda and King were now carrying the couch out as Chewie dashed past them, eager to leave the room.
"Okay, we just need to be quiet and not alert the scouts to our location", Sam said.
The others nodded.
"Let's go", Luke said.
The others followed Luke as silently as possible, with Eda and King carrying the couch along.
"Why do I get the feeling that that couch is going to cause problems….", Alastor whispered.
Sam whispered, "I'm not one to question the crazy antics of Eda and King."
We then see the group stop at a bay window and see various scouts guarding the Falcon.
Leia said, "you all came in that thing? You're braver than I thought."
"Nice! Come on", Han said.
But as they entered a hallway, they spotted several scouts!
One Scout said, "it's them! Blast them!"
One Scout asked, "wait isn't that Pri-?"
Han shot the scout before he could finish that sentence, which Sam was beyond thankful for!
Han shouted, "get back to the ship!"
Han and Chewie began chasing the scouts as Luke yelled, "wait! Where are you going?! Come back!"
Leia said, "he certainly has courage."
Sam said, "a lot of good that'll do if he gets himself killed!"
Alastor said, "everyone split up and make your way back to the ship!"
Luke and Leia went down one hall, Sam, Alastor and Polly went down another, and King and Eda carried their couch down another!
….
Han chases the scouts down a long sub hallway. He is yelling and brandishing his laser pistol.
But as he and Chewie corner the scouts…. They scream and run the other way when they see a room full of scouts!
….
Luke fires his laser pistol wildly as he and Leia rush down a narrow sub hallway, chased by several scouts. They quickly reach the end of the sub hallway and race through an open hatchway.
Luke said, "I think we took a wrong turn."
Blasts from the scouts' laser guns explode nearby reminding them of the oncoming danger. Luke fires back at the advancing scouts. Leia reaches over and hits a switch that pops the hatch door shut with a resounding boom, leaving them precariously perched on a short piece of bridge overhang. Laserfire from the troopers continues to hit the steel door.
Leia said, "that'll hold them for a little while. Quick, we've got to get across. Find the control that extends the bridge."
"Oh, I think I just blasted it", Luke said.
Luke looks at the blasted bridge control while the scouts on the opposite side of the door begin making ominous drilling and pounding sounds.
"They're coming through", Leia said.
Luke notices something on his scout belt, when laserfire hits the wall behind him. Luke aims his laser pistol at a scout perched on a higher bridge overhang across the abyss from them. They exchange fire. Two more scouts appear on another overhang, also firing. A scout is hit, and grabs at his chest.
Another scout standing on the bridge overhang is hit by Luke's laserfire, and plummets down the shaft, giving a crazy scream! Scouts move back off the bridge; Luke hands the gun to Leia.
"Here, hold this", Luke said.
Luke pulls a thin nylon cable from his trooper utility belt. It has a grappler hook on it. A trooper appears on a bridge
overhang and fires at Luke and Leia. As Luke works with the rope, Leia returns the laser volley. Another scout appears and fires at them, as Leia returns his fire as well. Suddenly, the hatch door begins to open, revealing the feet of more scouts.
Luke manages to catch the hook overhead, which would allow him and Leia to swing across to the door in front of them!
Leia grabbed onto Luke and kissed his cheek as she said, "for luck!"
Luke smiled as he swung himself and Leia across the chasm and to the other door, to which they quickly ran through it!
….
We then see Sam, Alastor and Polly running through the hallways.
Polly was yelling, "do we even know where we're going?!"
"I'm not sure myself", Sam said.
Alastor said, "we'll find our way to the ship, I'm sure of it!"
….
We then see Eda and King still carrying the Couch.
King said, "please tell me we're close to the ship!"
"I wish", Eda said.
Obi Wan hurries along one of the tunnels leading to the hangar where the ship waits. Just before he reaches the hangar, Darth Vader steps into view at the end of the tunnel, not ten feet away. Vader lights his saber. Obi Wan also ignites his and steps slowly forward.
Vader said, "Obi Wan Kenobi…. We meet again…."
"Hello…. Anakin….", Obi Wan said.
Vader growled, "that is not my name any more. I am Vader. And when we last met, I was but the student. Now I am the master."
Obi Wan said, "only a master of the dark side, my old friend."
Obi Wan then lunges his saber at Vader's, but he blocks it with his saber.
Their blades clashed violently as Vader growled, "your powers are weak, old man."
"You can't win, old friend. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine", Obi Wan said.
Their blades continued to clash violently!
….
Han Solo and Chewbacca, their weapons in hand, lean back against the wall surveying the forward bay, watching the Imperial scouts make their rounds of the hangar.
That's when the others showed up soon after, with Eda and King still carrying their couch!
Han asked, "what kept you?"
Sam said, "oh, the usual stuff."
Luke asked, "is the ship alright?"
"Seems okay, if we can get to it. Just hope the old man got the tractor beam out of commission", Han said.
And that's when Sam felt it…. An all too familiar presence.
The scouts then walk away from the ship.
Eda said, "well, that makes things easier!"
"Now's our chance! Go", Han said.
The group began running to the Falcon as fast as they could, with Eda and King still carrying their couch behind the others.
But Sam and Luke stopped as they saw what the scouts were looking at.
Obi Wan and Vader fighting.
Luke whispered, "Ben?"
Sam was more focused on the sight of his father, his voice caught in his throat.
Obi Wan turns to look at the two and gives a small smile.
He closes his eyes and brings his saber close to himself.
Vader brings his sword down…. And as his blade connected with his old master's body, he seemed to vanish into the thin air, leaving only his lightsaber and brown cloak to fall to the ground!
"NO!"
Luke had yelled this, and all of the scouts turned and began shooting at the group!
Vader froze when he saw Sam, who gave a solemn look before they yelled, "Luke! Blast the doors!"
Luke, despite his grief, quickly shot the door controls to close the doors in front of Vader as the entire group, including R2 and C3-P0 as they dashed across the hangar, got into the Falcon.
Well, except for….
"Twist it, King!"
King and Eda were trying to get the couch into the Falcon!
King yelled, "I am twisting it!"
Eda groaned, "ugh, come on!"
King yelled, "Eda! They're shooting at us!"
Eda yelled, "relax, they're scouts! They can't shoot worth a gungan's nutsack!"
After a few seconds, they finally got the couch into the ship and took off as fast as they could!
….
We then see Sam and Luke.
They both look utterly devastated at what they had seen.
Leia walked over to them. She could see just how broken they looked.
Alastor was nearby, cradling Polly as she cried softly atop the new couch Eda and King had stolen.
"I can't believe he's gone", Luke said sadly.
Sam gently patted Luke's back and said, "no one's ever really gone, Luke. His memory lives on in us."
Luke smiled a little.
He said, "thank you."
Sam smiled and said, "you're welcome."
Han soon came into the room and said, "come on, we ain't outta the woods yet!"
Luke then followed Han.
Polly asked, "what's going on?"
Alastor said, "if I had to guess, TIE Fighters."
"Oh, those TIE fighters are so annoying", Sam muttered.
Eda and King nodded in agreement.
Han climbs into his attack position in the topside gunport.
Luke climbs down the ladder into the gunport cockpit, settling into one of the two main laser cannons mounted in large rotating turrets on either side of the ship.
Looks like they were in for one heck of a fight!
The group were in the cockpit.
Chewie and Eda were piloting the ship as best they could.
….
Back with Han and Luke.
They were blasting at the TIE Fighters as they came by the ship!
"They're coming in too fast", Luke shouted.
Han muttered, "credit for every time I heard that one. Just keep shooting, kid!"
Luke then see's a TIE fighter getting closer.
He quickly begins targeting the ship!
Luke is able to blast one of the ships.
He yelled, "I got him!"
Han yelled, "great, kid! Don't get cocky!"
Two more TIE fighters appear.
Luke and Han continued to try and fend them off!
….
Back in the cockpit….
Chewie and Eda kept flying around to avoid fire from the TIE Fighters, as Leia and Polly sat in there with them!
"This is amazing", Polly said.
Leia nodded in awe.
"Here they come", Eda shouted.
Chewie growled in excitement!
….
Luke and Han look into their respective projected target screens. An Imperial fighter crosses Solo's port, and Han swivels in his chair, following it with blasts from his laser cannon. Another fighter crosses Luke's port, and he reacts in a like manner, the glow of his target screen lighting his face.
The TIE fighter zooms toward the ship, firing destructive blasts at it.
Luke fires a laserblast at the approaching enemy fighter, and it bursts into a spectacular explosion. Luke's projected screen gives a readout of the hit. The ship bounces slightly as it is struck by the enemy fire.
….
R2 screams as he flies across the Falcon with King hanging onto him, also screaming!
C3-P0 is hanging onto the couch for his dear synthetic life!
….
The last of the attacking Imperial TIE fighters looms in, firing upon the Falcon.
Han swivels behind his cannon, his aim describing the arc of the TIE fighter. The fighter comes closer, firing at the ship, but a well-aimed blast from Solo's laser cannon hits the attacker, which blows up in a small atomic shower of burning fragments.
Han cheers over his victory, as does Luke, as he yells, "we got 'em!"
….
Leia hugs Chewie, yelling, "we did it!"
Polly hops around as she cheers in joy.
Eda rests her hands behind her head and smirks.
….
C3-P0 has fallen into some wires!
King lets out a sigh of relief as he lets go of R2.
It looks like the group was safe for now.
"At least we're safe now", Sam said.
Alastor nodded and chuckled as he held Sam in his arms.
….
Back on the Death Star….
Vader stood at a window in one of the many control rooms of the space station, looking down at Kenobi's lightsaber gripped in his hands.
Tarkin was pacing behind him, saying, "I'm taking an awful risk here, Vader. Letting them get away…. Are you sure that tracer is working?"
Vader didn't respond as he kept staring at Kenobi's lightsaber.
….
Back on the Falcon….
Han was back in the pilot seat as Leia sat nearby.
"Not a bad bit of rescuing, huh? You know, sometimes I even amaze myself", Han said.
"That doesn't sound too hard. Besides, they let us go. It's the only explanation for the ease of our escape", Leia said.
Han said, incredulously, "easy?! You call that easy!?"
"They're tracking us", Leia said.
"Not this ship, sister", Han said.
Frustrated, Leia shakes her head.
"At least the information in Artoo is still intact", Leia said.
Han asked, "what's so valuable in that droid's little noggin?"
Sam walked in and said, "the interior plans to the Death Star, that station we were all on."
Han said, "oh."
Leia said, "now, we better get to the rebel base on Yavin IV…."
….
We then see the Falcon approach the planet; Yavin IV.
Among the lush foliage on the planet was a temple where various rebel ships were located!
The Falcon then lands inside the Temple.
The group slowly made their way out of the ship to be greeted by several rebel soldiers.
Willard, the commander of the Rebel forces, rushes up to the group and gives Leia a big hug. Everyone is pleased to see her.
"You're safe! We had feared the worst", Willard said as he composed himself, steps back and bows formally, "when we heard about Alderaan, we were afraid that you were…. Lost along with your father."
"We don't have time for our sorrows, Commander. The battle station has surely tracked us here", Leia said as she glances at Han, "it's the only explanation for the ease of our escape. You must use the information in this Artoo unit to plan the attack. It is our only hope."
Willard said, "very well, come, there's no time to waste!"
Sam, Alastor and Polly stood back to watch as Leia, R2 and most of the others followed Willard to extract the plans.
But that's when Sam heard a familiar voice.
"Sam?!"
Sam went wide-eyed as he slowly turned around to see a face he was all too familiar with.
Sam whispered, "Mom?"
Indeed. Standing before Sam was…. Ahsoka Tano!
Sam then ran to his adopted mother.
As soon as he was close enough, Ahsoka threw her arms around her adopted son and cried into his shoulder!
Sam cried as well as he hugged his adopted mother close.
Ahsoka cried, "oh. My baby boy."
"Mom, I missed you so much", Sam cried.
Ahsoka cupped Sam's cheeks and said, "look how much you're grown."
Sam smiled tearfully.
Ahsoka asked, "how did you get here?"
Sam smiled and said, "I had some help. Not only from Han, Eda, Chewie and King, but from someone I'd like you to meet."
Sam then led his adopted mother over to Alastor and Polly.
Ahsoka was shocked to see that Polly was now a living being.
But Sam quickly explained to his adopted mother that through Nightsister Magic, Polly was brought to life.
After that explanation, Sam said, "and now, I'd like to introduce you to someone very important to me. Mom, meet Alastor…. My boyfriend."
Ahsoka's eyes went wide in surprise.
Alastor bowed and said, "it's an honor to meet you, Mrs. Tano."
Sam asked as he snapped his fingers in front of Ahsoka, "Mom?"
This managed to break Ahsoka out of her shock.
Sam asked as he held Alastor's hand, "well what do you think? Are you okay that I and Alastor are boyfriends?"
Ahsoka smiled and said, "if he makes you happy, I have no objections."
Sam hugged his adopted mother.
Ahsoka hugged back and said, "I believe I have someone for you to meet as well. They're with Hunter right now. Shall we go meet with them before heading off with the others?"
"Sure, Mom", Sam said.
Ahsoka led the others through the base.
Polly looked around in awe at the base. So many people running around!
"Look at the size of those weapons", Polly whispered.
Alastor muttered, "that's what she said."
Sam let out a chuckle.
Soon, the group came up to an X-Wing that had a familiar set of legs under it.
Ahsoka said, "honey, I've got a surprise for you."
Sam heard Hunter say, "last time you said that, you jumped on top of me naked in the X-Wing."
Sam let out a few giggles after hearing his uncle say that.
Ahsoka said, "just come see."
Hunter then came out from under the X-Wing.
His eyes went wide when he saw Sam.
"Hi Uncle Hunter", Sam said.
Hunter said in shock, "Sam?!"
"The one and only", Sam said with a smile on his face.
Hunter quickly got up and hugged Sam.
Sam smiled as he hugged his uncle back.
He was so happy to reunite with his family.
Hunter asked, "but how!? How were you able to escape from Vader?"
Sam said, "that's a long story."
Polly said, "ahem."
The others all looked down at her.
Hunter asked, "wait is that Polly!? She's alive?!"
Sam said, "indeed she is."
Polly giggled.
She loved it when people had that reaction.
Hunter asked as he saw Alastor, "and who is this?"
Sam said, "oh, um, Uncle Hunter, this is my boyfriend, Alastor."
Hunter's eyes went wide in surprise.
Ahsoka said, "that was my reaction too."
Sam asked, "so are you okay with my relationship with Alastor?"
Hunter said, "of course I am. I was just surprised."
Sam smiled.
He was happy to hear that.
Hunter then whispered into his wife's ear.
Ahsoka smiled and said, "I was just about to introduce him."
Sam asked, "introduce who, Mom?"
Ahsoka smiled as she climbed up to the cockpit to the X-Wing.
Polly asked, "what could it be?"
What Ahsoka pulled out was quite unexpected.
Sam saw it was a child.
One who looked like a perfect combo of Ahsoka and Hunter and was three years old.
Sam asked, "Mom…. Who is…?"
Ahsoka said, "Sam, meet…. I guess you could call him your little brother…. Jesse."
Sam walked forward.
He and Jesse stared at each other.
"Hi", Jesse said.
Sam smiled and said, "hi."
Jesse giggled as he reached his arms towards Sam.
Sam gently picked Jesse up and held him as the toddler hugged him close.
"Awww!"
The others had all said that.
Ahsoka asked, "so Sam, can you tell us how you were able to escape from Vader?"
Sam said, "I snuck out after learning about a weapon known as the Death Star. Alastor and Polly accompanied me to Tatooine. We eventually ran into…. Obi Wan."
Ahsoka said in shock, "Obi Wan?"
Sam nodded and said, "we spent a few weeks with him until we ran into Artoo, Threepio, and…. Luke."
Hunter asked, "who's Luke?"
Sam replied, "I'll answer by telling you his full name…. Luke Skywalker."
Ahsoka and Hunter gasped in shock.
Hunter said, "you found your brother?!"
Sam nods his head with a smile on his face.
Ahsoka asked, "does he know?"
"Not yet", Sam said.
"Ahem…."
The group turned around to see Luke there.
Polly whispered, "oh poodoo."
Sam said nervously, "ah…. Luke?"
Alastor asked, "how much did you hear?"
"Everything", Luke said.
The others glanced at one another.
Luke asked as he walked towards Sam, "so you really are my brother, Sam?"
Sam gave a worried nod.
Luke asked, "why? Why didn't you tell me the truth back on Tatooine?"
Sam said, "there was already a lot going on in Tatooine. I wanted to wait before bringing it up."
Luke asked his brother, "but then, where have you been for these past years?"
Sam said, "half of it was being held captive by Vader. The other half was with my adopted family and friends."
"Vader held you captive? I'm so sorry Sam", Luke said as he hugged his brother.
Sam said, "it's okay. I'm just so happy to have finally met you."
Luke said, "me too, so I guess I can call you big bro now?"
Sam said, "call me whatever you want. We're family."
Luke smiled.
Sam smiled back.
"Master Luke, Princess Leia wants you all in the meeting room", C3-P0 said.
Luke looked at the others and said, "come on guys. Let's go."
The group followed C3-P0 to the meeting room.
A man named Jan Dodana was ready to give a speech about the Death Star plans.
"The battle station is heavily shielded and carries a firepower greater than half the star fleet. Its defenses are designed around a direct large-scale assault. A small one-man fighter should be able to penetrate the outer defense."
The rebels all muttered to themselves for a moment.
Gold Leader asked, "pardon me for asking, sir, but what good are snub fighters going to be against that?"
"Well, the Empire doesn't consider a small one-man fighter to be any threat, or they'd have a tighter defense. An analysis of the plans provided by Princess Leia has demonstrated a weakness in the battle station", Dodonna said.
Everyone was curious about this weakness.
"The approach will not be easy. You are required to maneuver straight down this trench and skim the surface to this point. The target area is only two meters wide. It's a small thermal exhaust port, right below the main port. The shaft leads directly to the reactor system. A precise hit will start a chain reaction which should destroy the station", Dodonna said.
One pilot said, "that's impossible."
Luke said, "that's not impossible. I used to be bullseye womp rats back home in my T-16, and they're not much bigger."
"Man your ships! And may the Force be with you", Dodonna said.
The pilots began to race off.
….
The Death Star begins to move around the planet toward the tiny green moon.
Tarkin was grinning evilly, excited to obliterate the rebels.
But Vader was feeling worried.
His son was down on that planet!
He couldn't let Tarkin blow up Yavin IV!
Not like Alderaan!
He had to do something to stop this.
Vader turned to Tarkin as he was saying, "it'll take a few minutes to power the main weapon back up."
Tarkin turned to look at Vader.
Vader growled, "don't you dare blast the planet, Tarkin."
Tarkin asked, "and why shouldn't i?"
Vader growled, "my son is with them. If even a single blast is fired, I'll gut you like a fish."
This time Tarkin went pale.
He forgot how terrifying Vader could be.
Tarkin asked, "then what is your plan lord Vader?"
Vader growled, "draw them out."
Tarkin asked, "my lord, should we send Scouts to retrieve your son?"
Vader said, "no. With so many rebels down there, it would be a suicide mission."
Tarkin nods his head.
He could see the flaws in the plan.
Tarkin asked, "once your son is off the planet, then shall we fire upon it?"
Vader growled, "let me make this clear; I do not want this laser fired for even a single second. Alderaan was a mistake that I don't want to make again! And if even a single shot is fired from this station, you'll join the leaders of the Trade Federation."
Tarkin then went pale again.
Vader growled, "do I make myself clear?"
Tarkin nods his head.
Vader growled, "good."
Vader then walked out of the room.
Tarkin let out a breath.
He had a feeling things were only going to get worse from here on in….
