A Knight Chosen

In an unknown location, Madd and the Code-R Research Team looked on and Madd was twitching an eyebrow as he was annoyed with what was going on.

"You have got to be kidding me," Madd said.

"It's no joke," A male voice said.

There were two who were standing before Madd and it was Castor and Pullox rui Britannia, the 14th and 15th Princes of Britannia.

"You should be happy Colonel Madd," Pullox said, "you get to continue with the project and you have subjects to work on."

"That's right," Castor said with grin.

The twin looked back towards Kewell and the other disgraced members of the disbanded Purist Faction and they were shocked with what was going on.

"Hey, what the hell is this?" Kewell asked still shocked, "Prince Castor and Prince Pullox, you two are involved in this?"

"Jarvis told you all that you'll be doing some work," Pullox said, "well this is the work you'll be doing."

"That's right," Castor said, "your job is to be test subjects for the Code-R Project."

"Like hell we are!" Kewell reacted angrily, "Do you really think that we'll just go along with this? The illegal human experiment that got revealed and…" Kewell paused for a moment and wondered, "Wait what about Bartley? He's involved in this as well. Anyway, we won't do it."

Castor and Pullox looked at Kewell and they laughed.

"Why are you laughing Your Highnesses?" Kewell asked.

"Lord Kewell," Pullox said, "you seem to misunderstand something here."

"Huh?" Kewell replied.

"Yes, exactly what makes you think you and the others here have a choice in the matter?" Castor said, "Here let me answer that," Castor gave a menacing expression, "you don't have a choice in the matter."

Kewell and his comrades were wide eyed at what they had just heard.

Britannian Prison

Todoh and Zero faced each other when Zero caused a huge hole on the building.

"The resistance movement here in Japan is more intense than in any other conquered nation because Japan surrendered before exhausting all of its military strength," Zero explained, "it is a shame that what was known as the Miracle of Itsukushima did not continue on."

Todoh narrowed his eyes at Zero, "Indeed and it's a burden that I bear and add to the fact of how the war ended."

"A heavy burden indeed," Zero replied, "and people grasp on illusions because they're desperate for hope and miracles. Think about it, why else has there been a disturbing rampant use of Refrain?"

Todoh was silent and he just nodded.

"But despite that you must continue," Zero continued, "you must endeavor for the sake of a better future for Japan. Will yourself to keep going till the name Todoh the Miracle Worker is grown ragged and tattered."

"You're saying that the Japanese can't accept defeat until then?" Todoh asked.

"Until recently they had to accept it despite the efforts of numerous resistance cells," Zero explained, "however ever since I came into the scene, ever since I made my move, many have gradually been able to truly believe that Japan can get independence, to be free from Britannian control, for the Japanese people to truly take back their lives. Make no mistake and I swear on my life on this when I say that Japan will be freed from Britannia. The Black Knights will make it happen. I made that promise to myself, my allies, our supporters, and I personally made it to General Katase when I met with him right before we began the operation to help him escape along with discussing matters about you."

"Huh, about me?" Todoh replied surprised, "What are you saying Zero?"

"General Katase believes," Zero said, "he believes in the change that I can bring and he still believes in you."

"Are you sure about that?" Todoh asked.

"Yes, I know for a fact," Zero said, "Just so you know, it was hard for Katase for leave but he had his reasons and surely you know of them Colonel."

Todoh looked away from Zero.

"With the way things were and where they were headed," Zero continued, "and considering how relentless Cornelia is, Katase would have eventually been captured and executed. Your loyalty to him would have demanded that you would attempt to rescue him, only for you to join him to be executed. General Katase knew that and he didn't want that to happen to you and still believes in you, he believes that you would succeed for Japan and should the two us join forces, we can make it a reality and when that happens, it would be more than enough to satisfy General Katase."

"Is that what he said to you?" Todoh responded, "Is that the reason why…he intentionally left me behind?"

"Yes," Zero said, "so what do you say Lieutenant Colonel Todoh?"

"Even though you say those things," Todoh said with a downcast expression, "I…"

Todoh looked away thinking about his time fighting under the command of General Katase.

"I personally would like it to fight alongside you," Zero added, "just like I always wanted. It really is good to see you again."

Todoh was surprised and looked at Zero suspiciously.

"Hold on, the way you speak," Todoh said, "you make it sound like you know me personally. But that can't be right. I don't recall ever being acquainted with you Zero."

Zero chuckled lightly, "That's true. However you do know someone from the past."

"What?" Todoh replied confused.

Zero got off his Knightmare Frame when he jumped up and landed on his feet in front of Todoh's cell.

"There was a child who came to the Kururugi Shrine along with his little sister and that child was one of your students," Zero clarified, "the former 11th Britannian Prince."

Todoh was shocked and wide eyed, "Wait a minute…"

Zero took off his mask and revealed his face and Todoh was shocked again to see that it was indeed one of his former students.

"It's you," Todoh said.

Lelouch smiled seeing Todoh.

"It's good to see you again Todoh-sensei," Lelouch said.

Todoh reminisced the days when he met Lelouch and his sister Nunnally and back when he and Suzaku were still on bad terms with each other before gradually becoming friends and then when Lelouch pleaded with Todoh to take him as one of his students. It was then that Todoh saw the determination as Lelouch was being taught and being a very hardworking and dedicating student of the martial arts which impressed him and Suzaku as he took Todoh's tough and strict teachings. Lastly, Todoh reminisced the day that Japan fell and that Lelouch vowed that he would fight and defeat Britannia and proposed if it came down to it, that he wouldn't mind fighting alongside Todoh and it surprised the Lieutenant Colonel. Todoh then came back to the present and was still surprised that one of his former students was Zero all along.

"Lelouch, it…it really is you," Todoh said.

"I'm so glad to see you again Todoh-sensei," Lelouch said.

"I am as well," Todoh said and then he chuckled happily, "so all this time, it was you all along."

"I said that I would fight against Britannia," Lelouch said.

"Yes, yes you did," Todoh said, "I just wasn't sure if you would be willing to do so. It would have been understandable for you not to do so."

"So what do say Sensei?" Lelouch said, "Will you help me?"

"You've already done well with the accomplishments you've achieved my student," Todoh said, "I don't think there's anything left for me to do."

"No, there is," Lelouch said, "I know that there is more that I can learn from you. Besides, it has always been my desire to fight alongside you."

"Tell me, does General Katase know?" Todoh asked, "About who you are behind the mask?"

"No…well at least yet," Lelouch replied.

"I see…" Todoh said and then he smiled.

Imperial Museum of Art

"And now for the highlight of today's event," The curator announced, "Princess Euphemia will select the grand prize winner," The curator handed Euphie a flower, "the work of art that you place this flower will be deemed the winner Your Highness."

Euphie turns around and looks at the paintings.

Exterior Area of the Britannian Prison

The four Gekkas piloted by the Four Holy Swords continued to battle and defeat units of Sutherlands. Two Gekkas shot their arm-mounted handguns in the air. It was a signal and huge black truck broke through the wall with the Seiryu and Guren accompanying the truck and the truck was parked and the back of truck opened revealing a black customized Gekka Knightmare Frame. The Lionel came by and stopped in front of the customized Gekka and turned its back on it and then the Lionel's cockpit opened and Todoh came out. The four Gekkas came by and the cockpits opened with the Four Holy Sword pleased to see their leader.

"Colonel!" Chiba said happily.

"Welcome back Colonel Todoh," Asahina said happily.

"Thank you," Todoh said, "you all worked so hard for this."

"We're glad to do it sir," Senba said.

"Aiding you is something we're willing to do," Urabe said.

Todoh nodded and then got on the customized Gekka.

"As of this moment, we're allying ourselves with the Black Knights," Todoh declared, "so with that, we're cooperating with Zero."

"Yes sir!" The Four Holy Swords complied.

"Any enemy units left?" Todoh asked.

"No, I think we took down all of them," Urabe said.

"…All right," Todoh said as he nodded.

In the cockpit of the Lionel, Lelouch was pleased with everything that was happening so far.

"You did it," Kallen contacted him.

"Yes, we'll have plenty to talk with Todoh and the Four Holy Swords," Lelouch said then had a serious expression, "however regarding the other matter…"

"Yeah there have been no signs of either of them," Naoto responded.

"Hmm, I was sure that at least one of them would show up to try to stop us by now," Lelouch said, "or maybe—"

A signature suddenly showed on his screen. Something suddenly appeared and it was Morgause as it threw its Jousting Lance. The Lionel countered by catching the Jousting Lance by the hilt and threw it back towards the Morgause. The Morgause caught it by the hilt and Todoh and the Four Holy Swords were surprised.

"Zero!" Nonette yelled as she had her Knightmare draw an Assault Rifle on the right hand and had the Jousting Lance on the left hand.

"Ah, she's here!" Kallen said.

"Just as expected," Lelouch said, "I'm ready for you Nonette!"

"I expected you to be here Zero," Nonette said, "We knew you and your people would come and rescue Kyoshiro Todoh. You just can't resist however this will prove to be your downfall. None of you will be leaving here."

In the cockpit of the Gekkas and the customized Gekka, Todoh and the Four Holy Swords were surprised at what they had heard.

"Laying a trap for us?" Todoh asked.

"It doesn't matter if she is a Knight of the Round," Chiba said, "She can't surely think she can take all of us on her own."

"Best not to underestimate her," Senba said, "especially since she is a Knight of the Round."

In the cockpit of the Lionel, Lelouch readied himself.

"We'll see Knight of Nine," Lelouch said and then he picked up another signal and knew who it was, "Hey, heads up! Someone else is here!"

Outside, the Guren saw a Slash Harken.

"I got it!" Kallen said.

The Guren jumped up and knocked the Slash Harken away. It retracted back and they all saw the Lancelot making its way. In the Guren's cockpit, Kallen glared at the white seventh generation Knightmare Frame.

"Suzaku," Kallen said.

In the cockpit of the Lionel, Lelouch looked on.

"So Suzaku, you decided to join in as well," Lelouch said, "I bet that was what you were called in for," Lelouch narrowed his eyes, "or perhaps that you're the one that was set to execute our old teacher. Either way, you won't stop us either."

Imperial Museum of Art

Euphie was still walking around and looking at all the paintings and still examining them one by one. The curator went over to the Sub-Viceroy.

"Please Your Highness," The curator whispered, "it's time for you to decide we can't wait any longer."

"I'm still making my decision," Euphie whispered back, "these are all excellent paintings."

"I understand and it's an honor but still we don't have much time," The curator pointed out, "if anything, just pick the one that stands out the most."

The curator was trying to direct Euphie's attention to the large painting of the 98th Emperor which caused Euphie to sigh. Suddenly, there were a few rings and that got Euphie, the curator, and Darlton's attention as they saw a few reporting quietly answering their phones. Several more phone rings occurred and the one by one, the reporters answered their phones. A soldier came by and whispered in Darlton's ear informing him what was going.

"Escaped?" Darlton whispered.

"Yes sir," The soldier whispered, "it's just as it was predicted."

"And Lady Enneagram?" Darlton asked.

"Already on the scene and it seems that Warrant Officer Kururugi is going to confront them as well," The soldier added.

"I see," Darlton replied nodded, "in that case…"

Euphie glanced over to Darlton and heard what he had said and then thought about Nonette and Suzaku.

Exterior Area of the Britannian Prison

The four Gekkas charged to take on the Lancelot. The Lancelot fights against the four Gekkas but so far has been unable to land a single hit against any of them.

"They're skilled fighters," Suzaku commented.

Meanwhile Nonette and Zero were battling each other again clashing their melee weapons against each other while Lloyd and Cecile were seeing the fight from the lounge.

"Oh my," Lloyd started, "aren't those new enemy models amazing? However Miss Cecile…"

"Yes?" Cecile responded.

"In hindsight, it's really fortunate that the trailer is our primary means of transport," Lloyd said with the smile.

"No, it's because you spent the entire budget on both the Lancelot and the Morgause," Cecile pointed out, "that's hindsight Lloyd."

Black Knights' Mobile Base

The others were watching the battle from the large screen and Nunnally just looked on with her arms crossed.

"So that's the Lancelot," Rakshata said.

"Yeah, that's it," Nunnally said.

"And it's piloted by your friend Suzaku Kururugi?" Rakshata asked.

"Friend, huh…" Nunnally replied, "Well…"

"And the other one," Rakshata said, "the Morgause?"

"Piloted by the Nonette Enneagram," Diethard said, "the Knight of Nine herself."

"I see," Rakshata said.

"Well Rakshata?" Nunnally asked.

"Yes I understand seeing them myself," Rakshata said.

Imperial Museum of Art

The battle that was happening at the Britannian Prison was being viewed via monitor by the people in the museum. Some of the reporters were impressed seeing what the Lancelot and the Morgause was doing as they battled against the Knightmares of the Black Knights. Euphie looked on with worry as she held on tight on the flower she was holding. Darlton was contacted and he nodded.

"Listen, send in reinforcements to support Lady Enneagram and Warrant Officer Kururugi," Darlton instructed, "and then make the report that we're eliminating the terrorists."

Exterior Area of the Britannian Prison

The Lionel and the Morgause continued to fight each other and then the Lionel slashed the Assault Rifle. The Morgause in quickly discarded it and thrust its Jousting Lance and the Lionel blocked it with its MVS Claiomh Solais. In the cockpit of the Morgause, Nonette clenched her teeth and narrowed her eyes.

"He's gotten better," Nonette said, "however…"

The Morgause and the Lionel clashed their melee weapons. Meanwhile Suzaku in the cockpit of the Lancelot looked and saw what was happening.

"Lady Enneagram is fighting Zero," Suzaku said as he suddenly saw the Seiryu and the Guren getting close, "I have to stop this."

In the cockpit of the Seiryu, Naoto looked on and contacted his sister.

"Kallen, you ready?" Naoto asked, "We're going to proceed with the plan."

"Yeah, I'm ready," Kallen responded, "I'll follow your lead."

"Great," Naoto said with a nod and then pushed another button, "Lieutenant Colonel Todoh and the Four Holy Swords."

"Yes?" Todoh responded, "You are Kozuki, correct?"

"Yes, anyway we have a plan," Naoto said.

"A plan you say?" Todoh replied.

"Yes," Naoto said.

"Then allow me to aid you," Todoh requested.

"No problem," Kallen said, "we would appreciate it. By the way, has Zero told you that the Lancelot pilot is…?"

"Yes, he informed me," Todoh replied.

"All right," Kallen said.

"Chiba, Asahina, Senba, and Urabe," Todoh said, "fall back, we'll handle the Lancelot."

"Colonel," Chiba said, "are you certain?"

"Yes," Todoh said, "Kozuki, I'll follow your lead. Zero, will you need assistance?"

"Actually…" Zero spoke.

Moments later, the four Gekkas moved back and left with the truck and Todoh piloted the customized Gekka and aligned with the Guren and the Seiryu. The customized Gekka, the Guren and the Seiryu moved and kept going in circles around the Lancelot. In the Lancelot's cockpit, Suzaku was a bit confused.

"What are these three up to?" Suzaku asked and then shook his head, "No matter, I'll put an end to this. I just hope that Lady Enneagram can still stop Zero."

In the cockpit of the Guren, Kallen looked on.

"The speed and maneuverability is impressive," Kallen said in her head, "but…"

Kallen remembered when she and Naoto met with Lelouch and Nunnally the day after succeeding in getting General Katase and his men to escape. Lelouch had shown them data of the Lancelot's movements and explained that Suzaku follows a predictable pattern.

"First the initial attack is always straight on," Kallen said.

The Lancelot charged towards the Guren and swung its MVS but the Guren dodge it by jumping up. The Guren had jumped over the Lancelot and then the Lancelot jumped forward. In the cockpit, Suzaku was surprised. He was surprised because he saw the Seiryu with a Katen Yaibatou in hand came from the side to stand against him. Suzaku was surprised as it seemed that it was predicted for him to do what he did. In the cockpit of the Seiryu, Naoto smiled.

"So predictable," Naoto said.

When the Lancelot landed on the ground, the Lancelot quickly pointed its VARIS rifle but the Seiryu was able to disarm the Lancelot of the ranged weapon. The Lancelot reacted by jumping backwards however that was predicted as well as the customized Gekka came from behind the second the Lancelot landed and thrust its sword towards the Lancelot. Suzaku was shocked and barely dodged the first thrust and then the second thrust but the Lancelot got hit with the third thrust which got the top of Lancelot's pod. In the cockpit, Suzaku was shocked but he also recognized the move that was done. Todoh cut off the top of the pod. It was inside revealed Suzaku as he looked at the damage of his pod. Todoh narrowed his eyes seeing one of his former pupils. The Four Holy Swords were surprised to see their commander's former pupil from their monitors.

"So it really is true" Senba spoke.

"It's him alright," Urabe said.

"Just as they said," Asahina said.

"How can he be so willing to serve Britannia?" Chiba asked, "Killing his own father wasn't enough, he willfully serves the country that conquered and has desecrated our homeland and tormented our people," Chiba looked at the customized Gekka, "Colonel…"

At the lounge, Lloyd and Cecile were shocked and worried at what they were seeing.

"Dammit, the Lancelot doesn't have an ejection block on it!" Lloyd said.

Cecile was shocked and looked at Lloyd.

"You mean we still didn't install one?" Cecile asked, "Why on earth didn't we do that?"

Meanwhile Nonette had her Knightmare back away from the Lionel and she looked and saw what was happening with the Lancelot.

"Oh dear," Nonette said, "the boy may be in trouble."

Nonette quickly saw something and block the Lionel's incoming sword attack.

"I've got you!" Zero declared.

"Zero!" Nonette said.

Imperial Museum of Art

The reporters in the museum and the even curator were shocked to see that Suzaku was the pilot of the Lancelot. Mix responses of the fact that an Eleven was piloting the Lancelot and the fact that Suzaku was once accused of killing Clovis and the fact that it was Zero who rescued him while exposing the truth about what Clovis had done. Darlton looked around and stepped forward and Euphie looked on.

"All right that's enough," Darlton said, "turn off the monitor right now!"

"No wait!" Euphie responded and it surprised Darlton, "I want to see this to the end."

"But Your Highness…" Darlton replied.

"Please Darlton," Euphie pleaded.

Darlton looked at Euphie and then gave in.

Britannian Prison

Back at the exterior area of the prison, Suzaku was checking the controls.

"Okay, I can still—" Suzaku spoke.

Suzaku didn't finish as he cut himself off when he saw the customized Gekka charging towards him. Suzaku had to move the Lancelot away and then saw that Guren and the Seiryu were rushing towards him as well. The customized Gekka rushed towards the Lancelot from the left side and swung its sword but the Lancelot quickly grabbed the sword arm. The pod of the customized Gekka opened up revealing Todoh.

"So this is the path that you have chosen Suzaku!" Todoh said.

Suzaku was shocked to see his former martial arts teacher.

"Todoh-sensei!" Suzaku spoke but then had a determined expression, "But what about you? You've chosen that you want to live instead of following your own principles, is that what you've decided?"

"Hah, you seem disappointed," Todoh said amused, "if that how you feel, then just try to keep to your schedule. Try to execute me like you were ordered to!"

Suzaku was taken aback with what Todoh had said. Meanwhile the Lionel had sliced off the Jousting Lance which shocked Nonette and she discarded broken lance and drew another Assault Rifle and started shooting at the Lionel with the Lionel avoiding the shots by circling around the Morgause. In the cockpit of the Morgause, Nonette was clenching her teeth as she was frustrated.

"Dammit, this wasn't how it was supposed to go," Nonette complained.

Nonette saw that the Lionel drew another weapon and she was surprised as she recognized as the VARIS rifle that Zero had taken from the Lancelot back in Narita. Back with Todoh and Suzaku, their Knightmares were still struggling against each other.

"What's wrong?" Todoh asked, "After all that's why you're here, isn't it? You would become a cowardly boy who's afraid of altering the status quo!"

"Denying everything in our society is meaningless!" Suzaku rebuked, "Once I make them trust me, I'll have the power to change it."

"You're serious?" Todoh asked.

"I am!" Suzaku replied strongly, "Dead serious!"

"That's nothing but a fantasy!" Todoh responded.

"It's not a fantasy!" Suzaku replied strongly, "I can and will make it possible!"

"A childish notion," Todoh rebuked, "Even if manage to succeed somehow, nothing will really change and Japan will still be Britannia's slave only with someone else in charge. You may be okay with Japan being enslaved by Britannia but we're not. We desire for Japan's independence!"

"You don't know that!" Suzaku replied upset, "Things will be better for Japan once I change Britannia from within. I don't give up hope!"

"You don't know what is really best for Japan!" Todoh rebuked strongly.

"And I suppose you're the one who knows what's best for Japan instead?" Suzaku asked getting a bit angry.

"…More so than you do Suzaku, you who killed his own father," Todoh said.

Suzaku was shocked in what Todoh said as Todoh closed the hatch of his pod.

"Wait, what did you just say?!" Suzaku asked surprised, "Todoh-sensei!"

Suzaku was ambushed by the Seiryu wielding its Katen Yaibatou. Suzaku blocked the attacks with his Blaze Luminous shields and proceeded to counterattack. The Guren charged with its Radiant Wave Surger and the Lancelot quickly backed away to avoid the claw even when it extended. In the lounge, Lloyd and Cecile didn't like what they were seeing and Lloyd contacted Suzaku.

"Suzaku, activate the Harken Booster!" Lloyd contacted, "The password is my favorite food!"

Suzaku did just that and shot all four of the Lancelot's Slash Harkens at the same time. It hit the Guren, the Seiryu, and the customized Gekka with the Slash Harkens simultaneously. The customized Gekka fired from the arm-mounted Handgun at the Lancelot. Meanwhile the Lionel had just cut off the arms of the Morgause and Nonette was surprised.

"He got me," Nonette said upset.

In the cockpit of the Lionel, Lelouch glared at the Morgause.

"This ends now," Lelouch said.

The Lionel held the Claiomh Solais horizontally and had it pointed at the Morgause. The Lionel charged towards the Morgause but the Morgause dodged and retreated. The Lionel went after the Morgause and threw its Claiomh Solais and it struck the Morgause from behind from its waist and cut the Knightmare in half. Nonette was shocked again and ejected from the Knightmare Frame as it crashed on the ground. The pod that Nonette was in crashed and skipped on the ground with Nonette holding on. The Lionel picked up its MVS and then Lelouch noticed something.

"Hmm, looks like we're out of time," Lelouch said as he was picking up signatures of so many air gunships and VTOLs. Meanwhile, Naoto, Todoh, and Kallen were picking up signatures of many air gunships and VTOLs as well.

"There's so many of them," Kallen commented.

"Indeed," Todoh said.

Suzaku looked and saw the many reinforcements that were literally surrounding the entire prison.

"Reinforcements," Suzaku said.

Lelouch looked at the surrounding reinforcements who were closing in on them fast.

"Zero, what now?" Kallen contacted.

"Yeah, there's so many of them," Naoto contacted.

"Well we've already done what we set out to do and the Four Holy Swords has already retreated and headed back to where our base is located," Lelouch said, "…let's do the same."

"A tactical retreat," Todoh said, "I can agree with that. It is not the same as a loss."

"Let's move quickly," Lelouch said and then spoke in his head, "Nonette, Suzaku, next time…"

As soon as he said that, the air gunships and VTOLs started firing on the Lionel, the Guren, the Seiryu, and the customized Gekka. The Seiryu, the Guren, and the Lionel moved and released huge smokes all over the place and the Lionel got to the customized Gekka and guided the Knightmare so they could make their escape as the customized Gekka released a huge smoke as well. The reinforcements stopped firing when the smokes messed up their sights on their targets. Suzaku saw them retreat and tried to stop them.

"No, stop!" Suzaku demanded.

The Lancelot felt unbalanced and Suzaku realized the Lancelot was heavily damaged and he couldn't really see because of all the smoke and decided to stop as he covered his mouth and coughed.

"Damn, they really got me," Suzaku said feeling frustrated.

Nonette was in her pod pounded on her controls as she was angry and felt embarrassed.

"How humiliating," Nonette said, "I lost…however, this confirms it."

Nonette then had a sad expression as she thought about Marianne.

"This mission is…" Nonette said sadly and then she shook her head, "no, surely I can convince him. I have to."

Imperial Museum of Art

The reporters there were upset that the Black Knights were able to escape.

"Why didn't Suzaku Kururugi go after them?" One of the reporters asked.

"Isn't obvious?" Another reported replied, "Because he's an Eleven."

"Of course," Another reported said being cynical, "in the end, all these Elevens are the same. So much for being an Honorary citizen."

"Who the hell is the 'genius' allowed that Eleven to pilot the white Knightmare in the first place?" Another reporter asked.

"Who cares?" A female reported said, "What about the Knight of Nine? Is she okay?"

Euphie looked on and was annoyed hearing what most of the reporters were saying and then she looked on at the monitor seeing Suzaku stand up as the smoke was starting to clear.

Flashback: Old Stadium at the Shinjuku Ghetto

Euphie looked at Suzaku with determination after diffusion the situation with Jeremiah and the Purist Faction.

"Suzaku, just as you lost your father to the war," Euphie said, "I'm sure there are people here who have lost their loved ones from the unjustified massacre here. Suzaku, based on what you said, I ask of you…will you help me?"

Suzaku was surprised, "Me?"

"Yes, will you help me so that a repeat of what my brother Clovis did never occurs, that is what I desire Suzaku," Euphie said.

Suzaku was amazed and kneeled before Euphie, "I am unworthy of your kind words," Suzaku lowered his head, "if it pleases you, then I will do everything in my power to assist you."

Euphie smiled, "I'm glad to hear."

Flashback End

"He did promise me so this would be a good way to do so," Euphie said and she stepped forward, "ladies and gentlemen!"

The reporters responded by turning around and looking at Euphie.

"Earlier I was asked about me choosing a knight," Euphie said, "I would like to respond about that right now."

The reporters were surprised and were eager to hear Euphie's answer while Darlton was surprised that Euphie actually made a decision of who she would have as a knight.

"The one that I shall have as my knight is the one you see on the screen," Euphie said as she motioned her hand to the monitor, "the pilot of the Lancelot…Suzaku Kururugi!"

The reporters were shocked at Euphie's decision and the curator couldn't believe that the third imperial princess and sub-viceroy would actually choose an Eleven as her knight. Darlton however was surprised but also impressed and recalled what he had told Suzaku back in Yokosuka.

"With that I have also decided on the grand prize," Euphie said as she went and placed the flower on the painting named 'The Village'," I have declared the painting called The Village as the grand prize winner."

Euphie smiled and looked at the painting and the reporters responded for the painting that Euphie but the curator was shocked and felt that she made a bad choice but he knew that it was pointless to point that to her and regretted of letting that painting be displayed in the first place.

Britannian Prison

The reinforcements landed their aircrafts and soldiers came out. Nonette walked and stopped as she looked at the damage of the Morgause. She clenched her teeth in frustration. She was then contacted through her communicator on her ear and answered. Meanwhile Suzaku was still standing and thought about what he and Todoh had said to each other.

"Todoh-sensei," Suzaku said, "you and I…are enemies."

"Hey Kururugi!" Nonette called.

Suzaku looked and saw Nonette.

"Lady Enneagram?" Suzaku responded.

Nonette signaled Suzaku to come over so that she could talk to him and Suzaku went to her.

"It's about Princess Euphemia," Nonette said.

"Princess Euphemia? Is she okay? Has something happened to her?" Suzaku asked with worried.

"Oh don't worry, she's fine," Nonette assured.

"Oh good," Suzaku said relieved.

"Quite caring," Nonette said, "anyway, you know about her having to choose someone to be her knight, right?"

"Yes, I've heard about it," Suzaku said with a nod.

"I was contacted by Darlton," Nonette said, "and he had just informed me that Princess Euphemia had just made her decision of who she has chosen to be her knight."

"Really?" Suzaku responded, "I see. Well I'm sure whoever she chose will be able to protect and serve her well."

"…I'm sure he will," Nonette said and then she smiled, "in fact, I'm looking at her chosen knight right now."

"Huh?" Suzaku responded confused and then he looked around and then he looked at Nonette and was shocked as he realized, "Wait, you mean…" Suzaku pointed at himself, "you mean me?"

"That's right," Nonette said, "it seems that Princess Euphemia has chosen you to be her knight."

Suzaku was wide eyed as he was surprised that he was chosen.

Under the Tokyo Settlement Bridge

Lelouch opened the pod of his Knightmare and came out of his Knightmare and was met with Kallen and Naoto.

"We did it," Naoto said, "although it seems that they had a lot of those aircrafts. Too bad we didn't finish with Kururugi and Enneagram."

"We'll have another chance," Lelouch said, "I'm sure of it and not only them…"

"Cornelia as well," Kallen said.

"Exactly," Lelouch said with a nod, "but overall, we succeeded in what we had intended so I can consider this as our victory."

"Right, anyway Todoh and the Four Holy Swords are waiting for you in the base," Naoto said.

"Right, time to meet with," Lelouch said.

"Ready then," Nunnally said as she showed up.

Lelouch looked at Nunnally and nodded.

"Let's go," Lelouch said.

Area 11 Airport

People were exiting out of the plane and walking throughout the airport and one of them was CC. As she kept walking, she saw someone who had been waiting for her and it was Sayoko.

"Welcome back Lady CC," Sayoko said.

CC nodded, "Good to be back."

"It seems that everything was a success with your meeting in the Chinese Federation," Sayoko said as she and CC walked together.

"Indeed," CC said, "it all worked out as Lelouch planned for."

"Well let's head back," Sayoko said, "as Master Lelouch and Lady Nunnally have instructed, you have several boxes of pizzas waiting for you back in the residence."

"Looking forward to them," CC said with a smile.

Britannian Prison

Nonette had entered the lounge and sat down on the couch. Nonette sighed and she was upset of how things went.

"Zero was able to get away along with Todoh," Nonette said, "this was not how things were suppose to be," Nonette placed her hand on the side of her head, "I fear that the emperor may suspect that I'm stalling on my mission. I need to change that. I have to convince him and explain to him why it is the only suitable option. It's for their sake after all because they won't be able to last otherwise. I know that both sides in question won't be happy with this and he'll resist against it but," Nonette thought about Lelouch and Nunnally when they were living in the Aries Villa in Pendragon, "it'll be permanent this time if they continue to go against the empire."

Nonette stood up and nodded as she figured that it was only option that she thought about that will work out the best.

Sword of Akasha, C's World

Charles was looking up and he looked amused.

"Nonette, you are naïve," Charles said, "I never would have expected this from you. It seems that you underestimate him as well. I actually expected you to know him better than that."

That's it for this chapter. Next chapter: A battle takes place on Shikine Island and Nonette makes a surprising proposal to Zero.
