Unwavering and Unbreakable
Suzaku wore his pilot suit and he looked at the Lancelot ready to go and Euphie, Lloyd, and Cecile were with him. The soldiers stationed on Shikine Island that were there were not thrilled with the idea that an Eleven was being entrusted to aid the Knight of Nine.
"I'm counting on you Suzaku," Euphie said, "please help Nonette."
"I'll do as you wish Princess," Suzaku said with a nod.
"Hold on Sub-Viceroy," One of the soldiers said, "you can't possibly entrust him to aid the Knight of Nine."
"And why now?" Euphie asked as she turned and glared at the soldier.
Lloyd, Cecile, and Suzaku turned to the Shikine Island soldiers as well.
"He's an Honorary Britannian and we're dealing with the Black Knights," The soldier pointed out, "what if instead of aiding the Knight of Nine that he actually turns on her. He would use the Lancelot against her and us for that matter."
Lloyd was about to speak but Euphie held up her hand to signal Lloyd to be quiet and she walked up to the Shikine Island soldiers.
"So let me see that I'm getting this right," Euphie said, "you're questioning me. You're criticizing me who is a member of the imperial family."
The soldiers flinched at the implication and were nervous when Euphie waited for them to respond.
"Ah forgive me Your Highness," The soldier said backing down, "I meant no disrespect."
Euphie sighed as she was annoyed and continued to glare at the soldiers who each felt chill at Euphie's glare. Euphie turned and went to her knight Suzaku.
"Suzaku," Euphie said.
"Yes Your Highness?" Suzaku replied.
"Demonstrate your valor again so that we can finally silence all the naysayers," Euphie said.
Suzaku was determined and he nodded, "Right!"
"Just remember Suzaku," Cecile said, "They've surrounded that pit with Gefjun Disturber."
"Exactly," Lloyd said, "you won't be much help to Lady Enneagram if you get yourself caught in the same trap."
"I understand," Suzaku said, "I'm sure I can find a way."
"Are you sure?" Cecile asked.
Black Knights' Submarine
Diethard was sitting in a table and typing something on his laptop.
"I still believe that it would be better to assassinate Kururugi," Diethard said, "but I suppose doing this is the next best thing," Diethard kept typing and then he stopped and checked and was satisfied, "this is it. When this gets out, people will know the truth. They'll know what Suzaku Kururugi did seven years ago. Although I wonder if there will be sides of opinions of this by the Japanese. Well, I suppose it can't be helped either way."
Diethard typed the Enter key on his laptop.
"I take it that you're finished," A female voice asked.
Diethard looked and saw Kaguya and Sayoko.
"I just got it done," Diethard said, "it won't be long for people to know the truth of Genbu Kururugi's death."
"I see," Kaguya said.
"Lady Kaguya, if I may ask," Sayoko said, "is Lord Kirihara okay with this? When this gets out, people will know that he…well…"
Kaguya nodded with a sympathetic expression, "Lord Kirihara is aware of this and he's fully prepared."
"Hmm, I suppose that it doesn't need to said then," Diethard said.
"No, it really doesn't," Kaguya said.
Shikine Island
The Black Knight succeeded in trapping Nonette in the sandpit with the Gefjun Disturber that was created by Rakshata. In the pit, both Zero and Nonette came out of their Knightmare Frames and walked towards each other and Zero pulled out a gun and pointed it at Nonette much to the Knight of Nine's dismay.
"There's no need for that," Nonette said, "I'm unarmed."
"I don't trust you Enneagram," Zero said.
"That's unfortunate," Nonette said.
"You said you wanted to talk," Zero said as he and Nonette stopped and faced each other, "so let's hear it because I have questions for you and I will get answers from you."
"Is that so?" Nonette said, "I don't know what you're thinking however here is the thing. Zero, I have a proposal for you."
"A proposal?" Zero replied, "Oh this ought to be interesting. Okay, what is it? What is your proposal?"
"Zero, I want you to join me," Nonette said.
"Excuse me?" Zero replied shocked.
"You heard me," Nonette said, "I want you to join me. My proposal to you is to abandon this hopeless crusade and grudge against Britannia and join me. What I'm saying is…I want you to come back. Come back on Britannia's side."
Zero just stood there and couldn't believe what he had just heard.
"So it's finally happened," Zero said, "you, Nonette Enneagram the Knight of Nine, you have finally lost your mind. You have finally gone insane."
"I realize how this looks and trust me, you're not the first to question my sanity," Nonette said, "however it is not only for your sake but also for the sake of your sister that I'm doing this."
"Hmph, it seems that in our last fight," Zero said, "you must have hit your head pretty hard."
"I can assure that is not the case," Nonette said getting a bit frustrated, "look you would be better off to accept than continue on this hopeless path of fighting against Britannia. Because if you choose to continue going against Britannia, you'll lose and it will be everything."
"I refuse," Zero said strongly, "I will never ever join you."
Nonette sighed, "Don't be so quick to refuse. Listen to reason…"
"Reason?" Zero asked, "There is no reason that you give that will ever convince me to go along with your idiotic proposal. I refuse to betray the Black Knights and the people who support us. I have declared myself an enemy of Britannia and so it makes no sense that someone who has made Britannia an enemy to just simply join them."
"You won't think it's idiotic if you realize of what I know and understand," Nonette replied.
"Oh really?" Zero replied, "And just what are you getting at?"
"I know who you really are," Nonette said.
"Huh, what do you mean?" Zero asked.
"I mean I know who you are behind the mask," Nonette clarified, "you are someone who was reported to have died seven years ago when this Area was colonized. I know that it's you," Nonette paused a bit, "Lelouch."
Behind the mask, Lelouch just looked at Nonette and gave no indication of any response and Nonette just looked at Zero and was surprised that there was no sort of reaction from Zero.
"I know that it's you Lelouch," Nonette said, "I've known that it's been you from the start. In fact, it's the main reason why I was sent here in Area 11 by the emperor. Back in Pendragon, we received footage of your battle with Nelly in Saitama in your Knightmares. The way you fight is how you were taught," Nonette paused a bit, "by your mother, by Bismarck and by me. The way that I've seen and how it's been reported of how you fought and even when you and I fought each other last night only proves that over and over again. I know it's you Lelouch. It can't be anyone but you. Another obvious indication is your Knightmare that is called Lionel and your sister's Knightmare that is called Lucan. No Eleven would give such names to these Knightmares."
Zero just looked at Nonette calmly, "I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not who you think—"
"Don't bother," Nonette interrupted, "Deny it all you want but I know that it's you Lelouch and I know that Void is Nunnally."
"Damn," Zero said in his head.
"Now with all that, it would only be natural that I report this to the emperor," Nonette said, "but I'll be honest with you Lelouch, I haven't done it. Truth be told, I'm stalling."
"Stalling?" Zero asked.
"Yes, I could have also easily just gone to that school, Ashford Academy and ask Reuben Ashford questions and I could have asked around about you and Nunnally. I mean hell, I could have interrogated Kururugi since it's obvious to me that he knows about you and Nunnally given the fact that you two stayed with him and his family eight years ago but I held back and didn't do anything of those things. Like I said, I'm stalling."
"Really?" Zero asked, "And why are you doing that?"
"Because I want to help you," Nonette said, "because I still care about you. I also want do something for Marianne."
Zero was silent much to Nonette's disappointment as she had hoped that Lelouch would say something since she mentioned his mother.
"I get it," Nonette said, "What happened to your mother was not right. Whoever killed your mother is a vile coward," Nonette frowned, "someone who is nothing more but low class scum. But what you're doing is not right at all. Lashing out on all of Britannia, going against your own country and people including your own family will not help you avenge your mother."
"You don't know what you're talking about," Zero replied, "You understand nothing."
"Oh please," Nonette said with pity, "you think I don't know? You're doing all this just to get revenge for what happened to your mother. If you want to really avenge your mother, I'd be willing to help you but you need to stop this madness you're doing. Trust me on this, I can help you and together we'll get the justice that your mother deserves and as for Nelly, I know that she feels the same way. I'm sure Schneizel does too. Now granted you'll still have to answer for the things you've done but I can help you and Nunnally. You do have people that care about the both of you and you're not the only ones that feels hurt for your mother's death. It won't be easy I admit especially with your father, the emperor but I'm sure we can find a way and I'll be there for you and Nunnally and there are others who will feel the same way."
"I see," Zero said, "I understand now."
"Ah that's good," Nonette responded happy.
"I understand that you are really naïve," Zero said surprising Nonette, "I didn't expect you to be naïve Knight of Nine. Honestly, I'm actually disappointed."
"H-Hold on," Nonette said surprised and getting a bit upset.
"You really don't know," Zero replied, "you really don't understand and you're unable to really see."
'"See what?" Nonette asked.
"Nonette Enneagram, you can't help me and my sister," Zero pointed out, "you help by fulfilling the wishes and obeying the orders of the emperor who is a strong believer of Social Darwinism and therefore, there is nothing that you can really do for me and my sister."
"But I don't—" Nonette spoke.
"Don't bother," Zero interrupted, "you know exactly what I mean. You should know that if we go back, we'll be used as tools again and no one will be able to help and protect us as long as that man has his way."
"You…" Nonette said.
"This isn't just about me and my sister and the tragedy that befell eight years ago," Zero said, "that is not the only reason why we're taking a stand against Britannia.
"What do you mean?" Nonette asked.
"We do this because we resent what Britannia does," Zero said, "we resent what Britannia stands for and its blatant rampant corruption. We have seen the aftermath of Britannia's invasion on Japan and have seen the people who suffer at the hands of those in power, who gets away of killing innocent people whether it's just to prove a point, show that they can and not worry of the consequences, or who does that just for sport or on a whim. What Clovis did in Shinjuku is an example of that. I will not turn a blind eye to it. There are people who have suffered and lost loved ones, people they care for suffered and died because of the heinous actions that Britannia does. And since it is the kind of things that goes on here in Japan, there is no doubt that it's the same thing that goes on in other colonized countries. Britannia itself has gotten too big for its britches and unless they're stopped, they will continue bringing a bleak and decaying future. I will not let it happen."
"A-Are you serious?" Nonette asked.
"You believe that Britannia is in the right but that is not how I feel and that is not how my sister feels as well," Zero said, "I will not just accept things and condone the heinous actions that Britannia has taken, the country led by a man who has no problem of using his own children as sacrificial pawns."
"Damn it, listen to me," Nonette said upset, "you'll die. If you continue this path of rebellion, you'll die. They won't show mercy to someone who goes against Britannia, not even fellow Britannians, especially those from the imperial family."
"That is a possibility but I'm willing to accept it," Zero said.
Nonette clenched her teeth as she was upset that things were not going as she had planned and was very upset with Zero.
"You're just being stubborn," Nonette said, "stubborn and prideful."
"You're just too arrogant," Zero retorted, "just what made you actually think that I would actually agreed to your proposal. You really didn't think things through. I have my reasons why I go against Britannia. My desire is the same of those who are willing to follow me and support us."
"Follow and support you," Nonette said and then she scoffed, "it would be so different if your followers knew who you are behind your mask."
"Oh, what do you mean?" Zero asked sounding amused.
"You shouldn't sound so amused since you hide your face behind the mask and that's because you know what would happen if they know," Nonette said and then she looked around at the Knightmare Frames that surrounded the sandpit and then back to Zero, "if these people here saw your face, they wouldn't be so willing to follow you. In fact, they would most likely be pissed off that a Britannian brat like you was leading them. They would oust you or even have you killed."
Zero chuckled and Nonette was caught off guard.
"Is that so?" Zero replied, "Nonette Enneagram, you really underestimate me and my group for that matter. It's typical of you really."
"Is it really worth it for you?" Nonette asked, "They don't know you like I do and yet you're willing to stay with them instead of coming back?"
"Yes I do," Zero replied, "I'm dedicated to my cause and that is to defeat Britannia and give hope to the people they've oppressed for so long. I made pledge to my allies and supporters and I will not betray them and my sister feels the same as I do."
"Even though you'll most likely die in the process?" Nonette asked.
"If that is my fate, then so be it," Zero said, "I'd rather die loyal than live as a traitor."
Nonette couldn't believe it and she clenched her fists and teeth and she was upset as she shaking and her clenched fists.
"You stubborn brat!" Nonette said as she was upset.
"So with that Enneagram, I absolutely and completely refuse your so-called proposal," Zero declared.
Meanwhile the Lancelot was making its way within Shikine Island with the hope to aid Nonette. As Suzaku kept going in the Lancelot, he picked up a signature and he looked and he stop and saw another Knightmare Frame that just stood there and it was the Lucan.
"Suzaku Kururugi," Void spoke.
"Void, it's you," Suzaku said.
"Trying to help the Knight of Nine, are you?" Void said.
"Listen to me," Suzaku said, "stop this right now. Release Lady Nonette Enneagram and surrender peacefully, the same goes with your brother Zero."
"Hmph, I don't need to listen to you," Void said in a mocking tone.
Void piloted the Lucan to turn and take off and Suzaku was shocked.
"No wait!" Suzaku demanded.
Suzaku piloted the Lancelot and gave chase to the Lucan. The Lucan drew its Assault Rifle and shot at the Lancelot and the Lancelot was dodging the shot and still gave chase. In the cockpit of the Lucan, Nunnally smiled behind her mask while in the cockpit of the Lancelot, Suzaku had a determined expression.
"I'm going to stop her and make her give up," Suzaku said determined.
"Suzaku, wait!" Euphie contacted, "stop right now. Don't chase Void any further."
"Princess Euphemia," Suzaku responded, "don't worry, I got this. I can stop her."
"No Suzaku, you don't understand," Euphie said.
The Lucan came out of an open area and the Lancelot followed but then Suzaku suddenly felt something crashing on his Knightmare. It was the Fenrir that kicked the Lancelot followed up by tackling the Lancelot down on the ground. Slash Harkens were shot and they wrapped on the limbs of the Lancelot and it was the Vierge, Seiryu, and Kagemaru. The Fenrir got up and shot its Slash Harkens and wrapped the Lancelot as well.
"Damn it," Suzaku said.
"We got you," Void said.
Suzaku looked and saw Void coming out of the cockpit of the Lucan.
"You make yourself too easy to lure Suzaku Kururugi," Void said.
"I've should have known!" Suzaku said angrily, "Using such a dirty trick!"
"Hey, it's your own fault for falling for it," Void pointed it out, "you're still so predictable."
Back in the ASEEC trailer, Euphie, Cecile, and Lloyd were upset knowing what just happened.
"Now Suzaku has been captured," Euphie said upset.
"That fool, he ran right into their trap," Lloyd said upset.
"Major Kururugi, do you copy?" Cecile contacted with worry, "Please respond."
"I'm sorry I failed," Suzaku responded.
"Suzaku, you promised," Euphie said.
"I'm sorry Your Highness," Suzaku said.
"We couldn't even hear anything from Lady Enneagram since she got trapped in there and now this," Cecile said.
"Your Highness," A male voice said.
Cecile, Lloyd, and Euphie were surprised and they looked and were surprised to see Jeremiah.
"Jeremiah, what are you doing here?" Euphie asked surprised.
"Um well…" Jeremiah said.
"He's here because of us," A male voice said.
Two individuals appeared and it was Castor and Pullox.
"Prince Castor and Prince Pullox here?" Cecile asked surprised.
"Castor and Pullox, what are you doing here?" Euphie asked, "When did you get here?"
"Jeremiah, be ready," Pullox said.
"Yes," Jeremiah said and then had a sad expression.
"Jeremiah, what's wrong?" Euphie said.
"Sister, you had just sent your personal knight to aid Nonette," Castor said, "but all he did fall right into the enemy's hands so easily. You should really consider if really want that Eleven to continue to be your knight."
"How can he be expected to protect you when he can't even protect himself?" Pullox asked, "And especially if he just goes charging into battle blindly. He really hasn't learned anything and this is why Numbers are such a pain to deal with."
Euphie flinched and didn't like what Castor and Pullox had just said.
"Well he did predict this would happen," Pullox said.
"Indeed," Castor said, "so with that…"
"Yeah," Pullox said.
"He you say?" Lloyd asked.
"Your Highnesses, if I may, who are you referring to?" Cecile asked.
The twin princes just looked at Lloyd, Cecile, and Euphie and Jeremiah looked at Euphie with sympathy. Back with Void, the Knightmares that held the Lancelot moved and were heading for the sandpit and met with the other Knightmare Frames. Rakshata looked on and smiled seeing the Lancelot being carried.
"So that's the Earl of Pudding's work," Rakshata said as she was pleased, "I can't wait to tinker with it."
In the pit, Zero was contacted and informed by Void about what had occurred and was pleased and Nonette heard and couldn't believe what just happened. Void opened the pod of her Knightmare and looked at the Kagemaru in which the Kagemaru used its MVS to cut open the pod of the Lancelot. Suzaku was shocked as he looked around. The Vierge and the Fenrir knocked the Lancelot down so suddenly which made Suzaku fall off the Lancelot but he quickly with instincts landed on his feet. Before Suzaku could do anything else, Void quickly got behind Suzaku and pushed him down in the pit and Suzaku rolled down and Void went down in the pit as well. Suzaku recovered and saw Zero and Nonette.
"Kururugi, how nice of you to join us," Zero said with an amused tone.
"Zero," Suzaku replied with a glare.
Void walked up and stood next to Zero.
"Kururugi, what happened?" Nonette asked, "Why are you here?"
"I um…came to help you," Suzaku replied, "Princess Euphemia asked me to do so."
Nonette couldn't believe it and just looked at Suzaku deadpanned.
"Oh really?" Nonette replied, "Uh huh, good job."
Suzaku flinched and felt ashamed as he knew that it was expected.
"Anything with the Knight of Nine, Zero?" Void asked.
"Get this Void," Zero said, "Nonette Enneagram asked me to join her."
"What?" Suzaku said shocked and looked at the Knight of Nine, "Lady Enneagram, is that true?"
"It is," Nonette admitted and pointed at Zero upset, "and he's a fool for reject it."
"Well now…" Void said and then had her thoughts, "of course the truth is that we already know. What you don't know Nonette is we heard what you and Lelouch had discussed…all of us here did."
In the cockpits of the Knightmares surrounding the pits, everyone there had actually heard the conversations between Zero and Nonette and in the submarine, Diethard, Sayoko, Kaguya, and members of Rakshata's team had heard the conversation as well and they all didn't know what was more amusing, the fact that Nonette actually believe that Lelouch would accept her proposal or the fact that Nonette didn't that they already knew who their masked leaders of the Black Knights were. Back in the pit, Suzaku was shocked.
"Lady Enneagram, with all due respect," Suzaku said, "Zero is a terrorist who is a serious threat to Britannia. It wouldn't be good to have them with us."
"Stay out of this Kururugi," Nonette said, "it has nothing to do with you."
"But—" Suzaku spoke.
"Stay out of it," Nonette insisted.
"It doesn't matter," Void said, "because it won't happen."
"That's right, I just made myself clear to you Nonette," Zero said, "I won't do it."
"Even though I know who you two are behind the masks?" Nonette asked.
"Even with that, it won't change out resolve," Zero said.
"Wait, you know who they are?" Suzaku asked surprised.
"…I've known for a long time and yet they still rather go against Britannia on this pointless rebellion," Nonette said upset.
"It can't be helped," Suzaku said glaring at Zero and Void, "using contemptible means to get results. There is nothing great and honorable about them and they have a messed up way of what they constitute as evil."
"And what the hell kind of standards are you using Kururugi that constitute evil?" Zero responded, "You do not have any high moral ground so seriously stop acting like you do."
"You just don't understand," Suzaku berated, "you people would rather use contemptible means to get what you want. Your way of doing things is just vile, plain and simple."
"You still have the nerve to say that and still ignore the contemptible things that Britannia does?" Zero replied annoyed, "Your hypocritical preaching is just extremely irritant."
"Suzaku Kururugi, do you really believe that things are fine with what's going on?" Void asked, "Are you really willing to ignore all the terrible things that Britannia does and label us as vile and evil. Are you just willing to be happy to see the injustice Britannia does seeing the Japanese being treated less than human just because they conquered Japan?"
Suzaku felt ashamed and he looked away.
"Silence is not going to help you," Void spoke, "In fact, here's a question for you Suzaku Kururugi."
"A question?" Suzaku replied looking at Void.
"Yes," Void said, "if Japan had fought to its very last breath seven years ago, what would have happened?"
Suzaku was taken aback and paused a bit before answering.
"The Chinese Federation and the EU would have intervened," Suzaku answered, "Japan would have ended up being split into three. The fighting would continue even now to this very day."
"Exactly," Void replied, "this so-called peace, if you can really call it that is the result of Japan's immediate and unconditional surrender."
"…That's right," Suzaku said, "and you should understand then. I do what I do for the sake of this peace ever since it began. It's for my father's sake that I continue to fight for this peace. The peace that my father died for."
"That is false Kururugi," Zero rebuked, "it's false and you know full well that it is."
Suzaku was surprised and taken aback in what Zero had just said.
"Wait, what?" Suzaku replied.
"Huh, what…?" Nonette spoke surprised as well.
"That's right," Void said, "your father, Genbu Kururugi, who was elected by the people to be Japan's Prime Minister did not choose surrender. No, that decision was made, intentionally or not by you. Yes, it was made by you when you killed him."
Suzaku and Nonette were shocked and Suzaku was mortified that Void and Zero knew the truth.
"You killed your father seven years ago," Void continued, "Prime Minister Kururugi called for a do or die resistance and as soon as you learned of it, you wanted to stop him. You begged and pleaded with your father to not go through with the do or die resistance but Prime Minister Kururugi being the kind of person he was wasn't going to change his mind. No, when he decides on something, he goes through it. You believed that stopping your father would end the war. But as to how you did it, what you did however…"
"We know what happened when you confronted your father," Zero said, "Here's how we know it went down…"
Flashback: Seven Years Ago, Kururugi Residence
Ten-year-old Suzaku met with his father Genbu in their home.
"Please Father, I'm begging you, you have to stop this," Suzaku pleaded.
"Stop what?" Genbu replied glaring at his ten-year-old son.
"You have to stop the fighting, too many lives have been lost already," Suzaku said, "if this keeps up, everyone in Japan will die."
Genbu was not pleased with his son at the moment.
"You dare tell me what to do!" Genbu countered, "You're just a child that doesn't understand anything!"
"Too many people have died already," Suzaku pointed out, "You have to end this Father so that this war will stop."
"Do you have the slightest clue of what will happen if I do that?" Genbu replied, "I will be looked upon as a traitor to our country and our people. Britannia will occupy this country and we will be forced to lose our rights, our pride, and even our name of Japan and being called Japanese. We'll be slaves to them, treated less than human and I refuse to let that happen."
"But Father, what about this declaration you made of a do or die resistance?" Suzaku asked upset and angry with his father, "If that's how it will be, then it won't matter in the end because everyone, no, all of Japan will be destroyed!"
"…It's a lot better than surrendering to Britannia," Genbu responded, "I will not stand by for Japan to bow to Britannia, not while I still draw breath!"
Suzaku was shocked and the small boy couldn't take it anymore.
"You don't care, you just don't care! You don't care how many innocent people die!" Suzaku said heated, "You just want to satisfy your own ego! You think that everything revolves around you. You make all these decisions and people will just follow along with them!"
"Enough!" Genbu roared at his son, "I will not tolerate you speaking to me that way boy!"
"Father, why can't you understand?!" Suzaku asked angrily with tears in his eyes as he grabbed on his father to get him to stop.
Genbu was angry and slapped Suzaku away from and it pushed Suzaku over the edge and he grabbed a knife and lunge at his father with a roar as he stabbed him with the knife. Genbu's eyes widened as he was stabbed as he looked to see the knife that had penetrated his body and he fell on his knees. Suzaku shook himself and realized what he had just done.
"F-Father?" Suzaku spoke as he quickly went to his father.
Suzaku was shocked and mortified at what he actually had just done. He didn't know why he did what he did but he was seeing his father dying from the fatal stab wound.
"I…don't believe this…" Genbu said as blood was seeping from his mouth and he looked at his son who was still mortified, "to think that you, my own son, would be the one to end my life. I never…would have…imagined…that you…would…be the one…to…end…my…life."
Genbu had his head down, closed his eyes, and breathed his last. Suzaku was stunned and he tried to revive his father but it was not to be as he saw that his father was never going to wake again.
Flashback End
"An impulsive act indeed," Zero said, "A childish impulsive act…"
Suzaku was wide eyed and was shaking hearing them speak the truth of what he had done.
"H-How did you…when did you…?" Suzaku spoke still shocked.
"Wondering how we found out?" Zero asked, "Kusakabe."
"Kusakabe?" Suzaku asked and then was shocked when he realized, "Wait, you mean…?"
Suzaku recalled seeing Kusakabe on a screen back when he led a group within the Japan Liberation Front of hotel jacking in Kawaguchi.
"That's right," Zero said, "Kusakabe did some digging and uncovered the truth. He then presented what he discovered to General Katase and Lieutenant Colonel Todoh two days before leading that hotel jacking in Kawaguchi. It seems that he had planned to contact and meet with you and blackmail you to join him and had you refused, he would expose you as your father's killer."
"Is that true?" Nonette asked shocked and then looked at Suzaku, "Kururugi, is it really true? I was under the impression that your father committed suicide as a protest to stop the war. You didn't mention that you actually killed him."
Suzaku clenched his teeth and felt ashamed as he recalled what he had done when he was ten.
"With the Prime Minister's death which led the Japanese government to be thrown into chaos, surrender seemed to be the only option," Void said.
"It's not what I wanted," Suzaku defensively said, "but I had to do it. If I didn't, Japan would have been destroyed!"
"Is that how you justify it?" Void asked, "Well it does explain something, something that we had noticed."
"What?" Suzaku asked.
"It's your reckless actions whenever you pilot the Lancelot," Zero said, "it's clear to us that you have a death wish."
Suzaku was shocked again and was wide eyed.
"That why you're always charging into dangerous situations" Zero continued, "willing to place yourself on the edge of death."
Suzaku clenched his teeth again and was shaking in shame and felt upset with what Zero and Void were saying.
"It's explains things about you on why you are what you are," Zero continued, "although you didn't intend to, you nonetheless killed your father believing that it would stop the war but instead the resistance movement would go on and it would get more intense than any other resistance movement in other colonized places because Japan didn't exhaust its military strength before then and with that the people still have the will to resist with many resistance cells."
"Tell us Kururugi, why exactly did you join the Britannian military?" Void asked.
"It's to protect and save lives," Suzaku answered immediately.
"Oh, are you sure?" Zero responded.
"Yes I am sure," Suzaku replied back.
"You want to save lives?" Zero replied, "You may have convinced yourself of that but let's be honest here, you don't really do that because it's genuine, you just want to save your own soul."
"That's not true!" Suzaku rebuked.
"It is true!" Zero rebuked back, "Admit it Kururugi! You may consider yourself as a protector, obsessing of saving as many lives as you can but in truth all you really want to do is to save and redeem your own soul. In fact, I believe we understand why you really resent us, why you resent the Black Knights."
"What?" Suzaku replied surprised again.
"You may not admit it yourself but you know that deep down the real reason you can't stand us is because you consider us a threat to your goal of changing the Britannian system from within," Void said, "after all, when we succeed in our overall goal then all those times you have tried and failed to change things will be for nothing and your 'redemption' wouldn't come as you want it."
"It would seem that you believe that if things can't change the way you believe that it should then it shouldn't change at all because you ridding yourself of your own guilt is more important to you," Zero said, "you label us as egomaniacs and accuse us of acting out of our own self-gratification just because we don't follow Britannian rules and we don't foolishly work with the corrupt Britannian police force but the truth is that you can't stand the fact that we gotten things done our way more so than you ever hope you could do with working within the Britannian system. You're a hopeless and naïve hypocrite who is desperate to wash your father's blood off your hands. But you need to realize Kururugi that no matter what you do or how hard you try, you'll never be able to wash your father's blood off your hands. When you kill someone, it stays with you and it never goes away, never ever!"
"It must be so easy for you Kururugi," Void said, "for you to look down on us and label us a menace while turning a blind eye and condoning the terrible things Britannia does."
"I'm not condoning them!" Suzaku replied back and was shaking and clenched his fists, "It's just that I feel that…"
"You just feel that it can't be helped just because they are in charge?" Zero said sounded disgusted, "You're naïve, hopeless, a hypocrite, and a coward!"
"Stop it," Suzaku responded sadly, "you just don't understand! You could never understand! You people are just self-centered who refuse to actually work within the system. You're not heroes; you're just a bunch of criminals!"
"You don't have right to talk down on anyone Kururugi!" Zero replied heated, "Why aren't you using that fire in your gut to call out the things that Clovis did or the fact that Cornelia was going to massacre the people in Saitama for her unjust and despicable reasons?!"
"All right, that's enough," Nonette said as she used her arm to sort of shield Suzaku.
"Lady Enneagram," Suzaku said surprised that the Knight of Nine would come to his defense.
"I'm disappointed," Nonette said glaring at the masked siblings, "I didn't think you two were sadistically cruel."
"Oh really?" Zero replied, "That's funny coming from you."
"Seriously who are you to berate us of being cruel Enneagram?" Void asked.
Nonette was offended and she clenched her teeth.
"Okay, you know what…" Nonette said angrily.
They were suddenly hearing a sound of static and it surprised them.
"Lady Enneagram, Major Kururugi, do you copy?" The voice of Fayer spoke through transmission, "If either of you can hear me, please respond!"
"Is that…?" Nonette asked.
"I'll take this," Suzaku said and then looked at Zero and Void, "do you mind?"
"No go ahead," Zero said.
Suzaku pressed the button on his communicator, "This is Major Kururugi."
"Excellent, is Lady Enneagram with you by any chance?" Fayer asked, "Is she safe?"
"Yes I'm fine," Nonette responded, "I'm right here."
"That's good to hear from you Lady Enneagram," Fayer said.
"Yes and may I ask who we're speaking to?" Nonette asked.
"Yes, this is Lieutenant Colonel Fayer, commander of Shikine Island," Fayer responded, "as of this moment we'll be launching surface to surface missiles on the terrorists."
"Wait what?" Nonette replied surprised.
Suzaku, Zero, and Void were shocked as well.
"Major Kururugi, your orders are to keep Zero there," Fayer said, "but Lady Enneagram rests assure that someone will be coming to get you out of there."
"Wait a minute!" Nonette responded shocked.
"They're giving him up to die!" Void said.
"So it's come to this!" Zero said.
There was a sudden sound and they saw what it was as the source of the sound.
That's it for this chapter. Next chapter: The Black Knights makes the attempt to leave Shikine Island as Zero counters against Suzaku.
