Remembering the Past
Somewhere out in the sea, a few Britannian Naval Ships were sailing and were searching a particular ship. In the bridge of one of the naval ships that was leading the other ships, Britannian naval officers were searching and the admiral of the ship had a stern expression.
"Anything so far?" The admiral asked.
"No sir," One of the officers said, "no visual of them so far."
The admiral was clenching his teeth, "They couldn't have gotten far. It's a huge ship. There's absolutely no way they could have just sailed off and not be picked by our radars."
"We'll continue to find them sir," Another naval officer said.
"This is the perfect opportunity," The navy admiral said, "with them not being in Area 11 anymore and just being out in sea, there's no way it will be difficult to take down the Black Knights. They shouldn't be able to hide."
"Sir, I have something," Another officer said, "I believe that it's the large ship."
"Excellent," The admiral said, "let's move in on them. It's time to execute the Black Knights. They won't have anyone to back them."
"Yes sir," The naval officer said, "relaying the order."
The Britannian Naval Fleet was making its way to where the large ship was and about to start the operation to eliminate the Black Knights on the ship. As they got close, the signal they were picking up was getting stronger and the naval fleet was readying their weapons to point at the large ship and the leading ship continued as the other naval ships scatter and were ready to surround the ship. Soon they got visual and they saw the large ship that was seen carrying the Black Knights.
"Admiral," One of the naval officers said.
"Yes," The admiral said in glee and picked up an intercom to speak to the people on the ship, "To the Black Knights who are vile enemies of the glorious Holy Britannian Empire. This is Admiral Benjamin Simpson, commander of the Third Naval Fleet. We have you surrounded. Give yourselves up and face the consequences for your crimes against the empire. If you do not comply, we will move in and use lethal force."
Afterwards, they waited and got no response. Simpson was annoyed as he twitched an eyebrow.
"No response," Simpson said, "so be it. Commence the attack!"
The Naval Fleet started the attack on the large ship. Elsewhere underwater, there was a submarine that was floating and inside was actually the Black Knights. In the bridge, Jinta and CC were overseeing things as members of the Black Knights were operating in the bridge.
"By now, they probably have that ship surrounded thinking that we're there," Jinta said.
"Using that large ship as a decoy," CC said, "luring the Britannian Naval Fleet and while all of us here sneak out in this submarine. Of course, eventually they'll realize."
"Yeah but it doesn't matter," Jinta said, "I got to hand it to our leader and Orpheus for being one step ahead of them."
"Always," CC said, "speaking of which, we should go meet with the others."
"Right," Jinta said.
"Maintain course and inform us anything out of the ordinary," CC said.
"Yes ma'am," One of the Black Knights said.
"Maintaining course," Another Black Knights said.
"Let's go," CC said.
Jinta nodded as he and CC left the bridge and went on their way to meet with core members of the Black Knights. CC and Jinta arrived and entered a room where the leaders and core members of the Black Knights were meeting along with Orpheus. Lelouch and Nunnally were sitting and were holding their masks.
"Okay, you two are here," Lelouch said.
"Yes, so far we're making excellent time," CC said.
"Everything is going as plan," Jinta said.
"Okay, let's start the meeting," Lelouch said.
"Orpheus if you will," Nunnally said.
"Yes," Orpheus said with a nod and he turned his attention to everyone in the room, "we're currently heading to an island that is uncharted and used by Peace Mark. My friends there will be expecting us. As you all know, we of Peace Mark are also fighting against Britannia so we'll be rendezvous with them there."
"This island is supposed to be hidden, right?" Naoto asked.
"Yes, let's just say that… well we have a special method to keep the island off of prying eyes," Orpheus said.
"Hmm, that sounds interesting," Rakshata said.
"Then we'll plan out on what the next move will be for the Black Knights," Ohgi said.
"Exactly," Lelouch said.
"Very well," Todoh said.
"So next to decide the course of action that we shall take," Diethard said.
The other spoke in agreement and as they discussed things, Lelouch thought things and then made a decision on something. Rai then went to Lelouch.
"Lelouch," Rai said.
"Huh, Rai?" Lelouch responded.
"There's something that I need to tell you," Rai said.
"Huh, what is it?" Lelouch asked.
"I've regained my memories," Rai said.
Lelouch was surprised, "You've regained your memories?"
"Yeah, I finally remember my past," Rai said.
"I see," Lelouch said, "okay, let's go talk."
Nunnally, Alice, CC, Jinta, and Sayoko noticed Rai and Lelouch.
Special Zone near Mt. Fuji, Area 11 (Japan)
The Special Zone continued to be built as people were moving in. Up in the box of the stadium, Euphie was overseeing things with Marrybell and Darlton.
"I hope things will be okay," Euphie said as she was worried, "I certainly don't want to break my promise."
"Don't worry Your Highness," Darlton said, "rest assure that we will support you to keep things moving as well."
"That's right," Marrybell said, "don't worry, we support you and we'll do everything we can to make sure this succeeds."
"Thank you," Euphie said, "both of you."
"By the way, where's your knight?" Marrybell asked.
"Oh he's back in school," Euphie said, "I told you to head back."
"I see," Marrybell said, "um Euphie, is it true that your status is…?"
"Yes it's true," Euphie replied knowing what her half-sister was asking.
"I see," Marrybell said with a sad expression.
"Oh but don't feel bad for me," Euphie assured with a smile, "that's the price to pay for doing something like this."
"Euphie," Marrybell said as she was still worried for Euphie.
Darlton looked on and he frowned.
Ashford Academy
On the campus, Suzaku was walking with a sad expression. He kept going and then he stopped as he looked at the building that Lelouch and Nunnally resided in. Suzaku went to the entrance and slowly opened the door. Suzaku went inside the residence and sure enough, it was empty as the people who resided in the place were no longer living in the residence and the only things that were left were the furniture.
"Lelouch and Nunnally," Suzaku said with a sad expression, "they're really gone."
Flashback: Earlier in the classroom
Students were sitting in their seats and their homeroom teacher who was the stern female teacher walked in and stood in front of the class.
"Before we get started in class, I have an announcement to make," The stern teacher said, "we have three students in this class who will no longer be here in the class, no longer coming here in this academy all together."
This surprised the students in the class including Suzaku, Rivalz, and Nina and Shirley looked on with a sad expression.
"Who are…?" One of the female students asked and stopped herself as she and the other students realized.
"Wait, is it Lelouch?" A male student asked.
"What about Rai?" Another female student asked.
"That's right," The stern teacher said as she was disappointed, "Lelouch Lamperouge and Rai Winston won't be coming back to class. It seems that Lelouch and his sister Nunnally has gone back to the Homeland."
"Wait, gone back?" Rivalz asked surprised, "Wait, when did that happened?"
"I don't know," The stern teacher said, "but that's the information that I have received by the principal himself. As for Winston, it seems that he transferred to another school. I don't know if it's here in Area 11 or another Area or even back in the Homeland. Not only that, but also Kallen Stadtfeld's condition has gotten worse so she was sent to a hospital in the Homeland as well as her father, Earl Stadtfeld made the arraignments. We don't have any more information than that."
"Oh no," Sophie said shocked, "Kallen too?"
"Did her health really get worse?" Another female student asked as she was worried for Kallen.
The students talked among themselves about the news and Suzaku was shocked and wide eyed about what was said.
"All right, that's enough," The stern teacher said, "it's time for class to start. You shouldn't bind yourselves worrying about students that are no longer part of the academy."
Suzaku was distraught as the teacher started class.
Flashback End
Suzaku was standing in the empty residence and clenched his fists.
"Lelouch and Nunnally just went back to the Homeland," Suzaku said and then he shook his head, "No, that's a lie. I know it is. But then what really happened?" Suzaku then frowned as he thought of Zero, "It must have been Zero and Void for that matter. They must have gotten to them somehow and if that's the case, I know who contributed in what happened," Suzaku recalled back in Kamine Island when he found out that Kallen, Alice, and Rai were part of the Black Knights and then he got angry, "They just couldn't keep them out of their selfish goals. There's no doubt, they dragged Lelouch and Nunnally into this," Suzaku clenched his teeth, "they probably convinced Lelouch to join him with the promise to help him get his revenge. Dammit! I should have arrested them when I had the chance. Kallen, Rai, Alice, Zero, and Void, I should have arrested them when I had the chance."
Flashback: Old Tokyo Theater
"Let me tell you this Kururugi," Zero interrupted, "I honestly only see two results of how things will be for you with what you have decided to do, with the way Britannia is now and the poison they spread, you will either die trying or you'll be swallowed up by the system and your ideals will get warped and twisted. To be honest with you, I think you're a fool and very naïve."
"A fool and naïve, huh?" Suzaku chuckled and then turned his back on Zero, "An old friend of mine would tell me that all the time. He would say that I was a fool and being stupid."
"…Yes, Lelouch vi Britannia, right?" Zero said.
Suzaku was shocked and turned to face Zero.
"Yes, Lelouch vi Britannia, that's the old friend you're referring to, him and his sister Nunnally vi Britannia," Zero said, "I wonder what they may be thinking now watching the broadcast."
"How…how do you…?"
"How do you I know about them?" Zero chuckled a bit, "Sorry, that's not something for you to know since you won't join me."
Suzaku clenched his fists and glared at Zero, "Okay look, I don't know how you know about them but I don't want you to involve either of them."
"If they choose to get involved, it will be by their own choice," Zero pointed out, "Anyone that decides to join me will do it because they want to, that's how it will go with me.
Another Flashback: Three Day Ago during the Ashford Academy Festival
Suzaku faced Kallen in one of the kitchens.
"Why didn't you do it?" Kallen asked.
"What are you talking about?" Suzaku replied.
"Don't feign ignorance with me Suzaku," Kallen said, "you know exactly what I'm asking."
"You're asking why I haven't told anyone about you," Suzaku said, "about you, Alice, and Rai."
"Well?" Kallen asked.
"I took time to think about what you and Alice said to me," Suzaku said, "I can't deny the truth of the things you said. I can't deny the truth of what Zero and Void has been talking about. But still even so…" Suzaku paused, "…on the battlefield, I won't show mercy but I wanted to persuade you here. I was hoping to do the same with Rai and Alice if they would show up."
"Are you serious?" Kallen asked.
"Yes, I'm dead serious," Suzaku said, "while we're at school, I want to make an effort to change your mind instead of defeating you in combat and I know… you wouldn't expect this from me, right? After what Zero and Void did."
"That's right," Kallen said.
"I admit that I'm bitter what Zero and Void did," Suzaku said, "I still feel the humiliation of my secret being exposed like that but at the same time I can only berate myself for thinking of what I did to my father would stay a secret forever. I should have known that it was never going to happen. Anyway Kallen, would relay to Rai and Alice that they should come back to school? To be honest, it's not the same without them and I'm glad you came back."
Flashback End
"If I had done what I should've done as a soldier," Suzaku said, "none of this would have happened," Suzaku sighed and decided on something, "I can make it right. Whatever it takes, I have to save Lelouch and Nunnally. I have to get them out of there."
Meanwhile in the Student Council Room, Shirley, Rivalz, and Nina were doing some paperwork while Milly was standing and looking out of a window with her arms folded. Rivalz looked around and decided to speak.
"Man, this really sucks," Rivalz said upset, "Lelouch and Nunnally are gone, Rai went and transferred, Kallen had been taken to a hospital in the Homeland, and even Alice is gone."
"Yeah, they all left at the same time," Nina said, "this is quite surprising."
"And Suzaku is not taking it well no doubt," Rivalz said, "although I am surprised that you seem calm about it Shirley."
"I'm upset as well believe me," Shirley said, "but I know there's no use to making a fit."
"You're very mature Shirley," Milly commented with a smile.
"Are you teasing me?" Shirley calmly asked.
"No, I'm being serious," Milly assured.
"Oh well, I guess I have people to thank for that," Shirley said.
"But still, this sucks so much," Rivalz said.
"Yes you're right Rivalz," Milly said with a sad smile, "it really does."
"I wish it didn't happen," Shirley said.
Rivalz looked at the two girls were clearly depressed about it and he couldn't help but wondered what was really going on. Meanwhile in Principals Office, Reuben was sitting in his desk and looked at someone who was standing.
"I have to say that I am surprised that you would do this and go along with it," Reuben said, "you know what will happen if you're found out."
The person who was standing was Earl James Stadtfeld.
"I understand the risk," James said, "but regardless, I just wanted to help my son and daughter."
"And their mother?" Reuben asked, "What does she think of this?"
"Sena doesn't know and she doesn't need to know," James said, "my son and daughter feel the same way."
"So I'm curious," Reuben said, "when did you put the pieces together?"
Viceroy Palace
Madd was sitting in a cell with handcuffs and was bitter with what had occurred. With being exposed for the plot he was trying to commit with Castor and Pollux, Madd was arrested and held in custody along with the cybernetic soldiers who was being placed in special confinements and even Castor and Pollux were placed in their own individual cells.
"Damn them all," Madd cursed, "every single time, someone has to ruin my plans."
"Oh boy, you really messed up big time Reggie," A male voice said.
Madd flinched and got angry and annoyed as he recognized the voice of the person he despised.
"Why are you here Lloyd?" Madd asked.
Madd looked up and saw Lloyd who a bit of a smug expression.
"Shameful," Lloyd said as he shook his head, "absolutely shameful. Here you are in prison for attempting to sabotage the Special Zone and not only being part of the illegal Code-R Project. Oh dear, oh dear, you never did have common sense."
"Piss off Asplund!" Madd said angrily.
"You know it's embarrassing that you were cocky to yap on about what you were doing and what you had planned to do," Lloyd continued, "not thinking the possibility that the Black Knights would record you and share for the world to see and hear. One would think that if they were going to do some scheming and encounter the Black Knights and with what happened with the dear departed former Prince Clovis, the Purist Faction…" Lloyd sighed and shook his head, "and yes even dear Suzaku that you would have just kept quiet but nope, instead, you blab for the whole world to hear."
"Shut up!" Madd responded as he was feeling red in anger.
"Not only that, it seems that His Highness Prince Schneizel as well as the esteem Sir Trenton, the Knight of Two is involved as well as General Bartley," Lloyd grinned, "yep, it's not good for you at all."
"You seem pleased about it," Madd said and he clenched his teeth, "that's the thing with you Lloyd, you've always looked down on me for as long as I've known you, always thinking and acting that you were better me. You haven't changed."
"The same can be said about you Madd," Lloyd said as he glared at Britannian Colonel.
"You are so lucky that I'm imprisoned like this," Madd said as he held up his arms, "otherwise, I would strangle your scrawny little neck right now."
"My, my," Lloyd replied with a smile, "bold words Reggie, bold words indeed."
Meanwhile in the Knightmare Hanger within the Viceroy Palace, Cornelia and Nonette were looking at the Gloucester Knightmare Frames.
"Well things have gone the way they did," Nonette said and then she turned to Cornelia, "Well Nelly, I think it's time for me to leave. I'll be heading back to the Homeland and give my full report to His Majesty the Emperor."
"I see," Cornelia said as she was still looking at the Knightmares, "So you'll be heading back."
"Yes, I feel that there's no need to remain here any longer," Nonette said, "Area 11 will be stabilized so I can leave with that in mind."
"Nonette, don't you think it's time you told the truth?" Cornelia asked.
"Huh, what are you talking about?" Nonette asked confused.
"I'm talking about the fact that you know about Zero," Cornelia said, "and Void."
"I don't know what you're talking about," Nonette said.
"Nonette please," Cornelia said as she looked at Nonette, "please don't lie to me. I know you know what I'm talking about. You figured out who Zero and Void are."
Nonette looked away from Cornelia's gaze and Cornelia frowned.
"It's Lelouch and Nunnally," Cornelia said, "Zero is Lelouch and Void is Nunnally… that's the truth and what is also the truth is that you had already figured it out."
Nonette was shocked and looked at Cornelia.
"N-Nelly," Nonette said.
"That's why you were insistent of actually trying to convince them to come back as you said," Cornelia said, "that's the only reason."
"N-Nelly," Nonette said surprised, "When…?"
"To tell the truth, I've had Darlton do an investigation on the matter," Cornelia said, "and one of the things we could not deny was the fact that Zero and Void were not Elevens. In my opinion, they wouldn't need to hide their faces behind mask if they were Elevens."
"That's not enough to go by," Nonette said.
"That's true," Cornelia said, "and there was another factor and that's the way Zero fought. I actually saw that when I fought him in Saitama."
"I see," Nonette said, "so you did noticed."
"I did," Cornelia said, "but I didn't want to acknowledge it," Cornelia frowned, "I didn't want to think of the possibility that my younger brother and sister would do this, that they would rebel against the empire but…"
Flashback
"It seems that in this last operation," Darlton said, "as well as Narita and Saitama, the Black Knights have been succeeding in what they have set out to do."
"Yes, it seems that every time they make their move whether it's going against us or any raids they participate to stamp out criminal activity and corruption, they have overall succeeded," Guilford said.
"With the three instances with Saitama, Narita, and Port Yokosuka," Darlton said, "it's clear that the Black Knights and with Zero leading them are completely different from all the other cells we've faced before and not only that, I think I understand the meaning in what Zero had said back in Narita."
"And that would be…?" Cornelia spoke.
"Zero is not merely fighting against Britannia," Darlton said, "he and the Black Knights, they're fighting against everything Britannia stands for and with that I suspect that they won't stop in just trying to drive Britannia out of this territory but intend to actually defeat our empire as a whole."
Flashback End
"I'm still confident that the empire is still superior in terms of our military might," Cornelia said and then she had a sad expression, "but I just don't like it. I don't want to fight my brother and sister but they… they decided to fight against their own country and go against us, their family, I just…"
"Yeah I know what you mean," Nonette said, "I'm sorry Nelly. I wanted to tell you the truth but I just didn't know how bad you would take it or you would have accused me of being slanderous or something like that."
"Well to be fair, it's understandable why you wouldn't tell me," Cornelia said.
"But Nelly, have by chance told Euphie?" Nonette asked.
"No, I did not," Cornelia said as she shook her head, "I can't know about it."
Special Administrative Zone
The zone was still being built as the people were moving in the zone to have the right to be called Japanese. In the bridge of the G-1 Mobile Base, Euphie was meeting with Jeremiah.
"I see," Euphie said, "so you know about Lelouch and Nunnally as well."
"Yes, I was able to confirm at Kamine Island," Jeremiah said.
"I see," Euphie said, "so that's what happened with you and Nunnally. Although I'm surprised, I would have thought that you would have gone with them."
"I wanted to," Jeremiah said, "I really wanted to go with them and to be their sword and shield but both of them asked for me to stay here and aid you Your Highness."
"I see," Euphie said and then she smiled, "I guess that they have some hope for the zone or maybe they want to have you to support me."
"Yes that is the case," Jeremiah said, "it's actually the fact that they want me to help you and help the zone."
"Even though they…" Euphie spoke and then she shook head, "no, they may want it so that I can be protected even though I have my knight."
"You can take as you see it Princess," Jeremiah said.
"I see," Euphie said, "but Jeremiah, I won't be a Princess any longer."
"Ah, but still…" Jeremiah said with a sad expression.
"Euphie!" Marrybell called out.
Marrybell came rushing in.
"Marry," Euphie said.
"There's going to be an announcement," Marrybell said, "by the Emperor himself."
"I see," Euphie said, "so it's finally going to be announced."
"Regardless of the announcement," Marrybell said, "I'll still support you."
"I shall support you as well," Jeremiah said, "after all even though you no longer have the title, I'm willing to support you."
"Thank you both," Euphie said.
"It's no problem," Marrybell said, "but may I assume that Cornelia and even Schneizel doesn't know about this?"
"That's correct, they don't," Euphie said, "it's going to be a surprise to them as well."
Ashford Academy
Suzaku was on the roof of one of the buildings and he had his thoughts and deciding what he was going to do thinking about how he was going to get Lelouch and Nunnally out of the Black Knights and repeating to himself that he was not going to let them drag Lelouch and Nunnally down with them. Suzaku then suddenly saw someone and it was Rivalz who was walking and heading somewhere.
"Rivalz," Suzaku said.
Rivalz continued to walk and had a serious expression. Suzaku wondered and then he noticed where he seemed to be heading to.
"Wait, is he going to Lelouch and Nunnally's place?" Suzaku asked.
Rivalz soon arrived at the place where Lelouch and Nunnally had resided and then he went inside and looked around.
"Something is definitely going with Lelouch and Nunnally," Rivalz said.
Rivalz was going through the place and looked for clues.
"There has to be something that can tell me what's going on," Rivalz said and he sighed, "I just don't get it. Something is obvious going on yet Lelouch wouldn't tell me. I thought I was his friend or is something going on and that he didn't want me to get mixed up in it. Is that it?" Rivalz clenched his teeth, "If my buddy and his sister are in trouble then I have to help them out."
Rivalz left the residence and went on his way to go inquire something from someone he felt could help him. Meanwhile Shirley was walking in the hall and then she stopped in front of the door and she opened it with a code. The door opened and Shirley entered and it was actually an elevator. The elevator went down and it led Shirley to underground base that Lelouch and Nunnally had used. The base was now empty and Shirley looked around with a sad expression.
"It's unfortunate that things ended up like they did," Shirley said and then sighed, "Lulu, Nunna, everyone… please stay safe."
Meanwhile Rivalz entered the Student Council Room and saw that only Nina was there and she was typing away on her computer working on something. Nina turned and saw Rivalz.
"Oh Rivalz," Nina said.
"Hi Nina," Rivalz said, "say Nina, have the seen the Prez?"
"Milly?" Nina replied and then she shook her head, "No I haven't seen her."
"I see," Rivalz said.
"Um, is there something that I can help you with?" Nina asked out of curiosity.
"Um, I don't know if you can help me," Rivalz said, "I'm just trying to figure some things out."
"Some things?" Nina asked.
"Yeah, I wonder," Rivalz said, "say Nina, have you noticed anything unusual with the Prez?"
"Huh, uh no, nothing out of the ordinary," Nina said, "well when it comes to Milly."
"Yeah I figured that was the case," Rivalz said.
"Rivalz, are you okay?" Nina asked.
"Well I guess I'm still bummed out," Rivalz replied.
"About the Vice-President and the others?" Nina asked.
"Yeah I mean talking about throwing us out of the loop on that one," Rivalz said.
"So you had no idea about what was going on?" Nina said.
"No and quite frankly, I'm bothered about it," Rivalz said, "Lelouch didn't tell me and it seems that Suzaku had no idea that it was going to happen either."
"I see," Nina said as she thought about it and then just went back on typing on her computer.
Black Knights' Submarine
In one of the rooms, Lelouch, Nunnally, Rai, Alice, CC, Jinta, and Sayoko were meeting.
"Raius yo Britannia," Rai said, "that is my full name."
This is surprised the others in the room.
"Raius yo Britannia?" Lelouch replied surprised.
"Wait a minute Rai," Nunnally said, "d-does that mean that…?"
"Yeah," Rai said with a sad smile, "I was actually born from the Britannian Imperial Family. Not only that, but I also possess something. It's the same that you Lelouch and Alice have."
"Wait, you mean you have…?" Alice asked.
"Yes," Rai said as he activated his Geass, "I too also have Geass," Rai then quickly deactivated his Geass, "although I wish I never came to possess this power, especially from someone who likes to make others feel miserable."
CC and Jinta looked at each other and then figured who Rai was referring to and they looked at Rai.
"Rai, it was VV, wasn't it," CC said.
Rai chuckled sadly in response and nodded.
"Yeah, I got my Geass from VV," Rai said, "and he couldn't help himself to rub in my face of the terrible mistake that I made."
"A mistake?" Lelouch asked, "Rai, what mistake are you talking about it?"
Rai closed his eyes and then he opened them with a sad expression.
"Years ago, I was once Emperor of Britannia," Rai said sadly, "and during my reign, I caused the deaths of the very people I swore to protect," Rai clenched his teeth and felt ashamed, "and it's all because I wasn't careful with my Geass."
The other in the room was surprised and sad to hear what Rai said.
1978atb, Pendragon, Holy Britannian Empire
Rai who was wearing his imperial garb as emperor looked on in horror in what he was seeing and it was the people that were all dead as his Geass was active.
"No," Rai said, "what have I done?"
Rai fell on his knees and tears started to form from his eyes and then he looked and saw two people among the dead and it was a woman with long black hair and a girl with mid-length silver hair and Rai slowly walked over to them. Rai then fell on his knees and was heartbroken.
"Mother," Rai said sadly, "Shina."
Rai clenched his teeth as his eyes widened and then he screamed from the top of his lungs.
That's it for this chapter. Next chapter: Rai reminisce his past as a member of the Imperial Family as the Black Knights arrive in the island to meet with the other members of Peace Mark.
