Edward Elric hated Mother's Day. Not because his mother was no longer there to celebrate the day, but because of the fact that everyone was so hypocritical about it. They never treat their mothers half as nice as they do on this particular day, and it was only because it was expected of them. They sent their mothers cards and flowers for the same reason some people attended church only on Christmas and Easter; it was simply what you did. Edward told his mother he loved her every day in his heart, and he didn't need any silly customs to encourage him to do so. Doing nice and considerate things for your mother was an obligation on Mother's Day, and you were said to be insensitive and unappreciative if you did nothing. But in spite of Edward's intense dislike for this ridiculous holiday, every year he made a trip back home to place a single white rose on Trisha Elric's grave. He felt it was the least he could do for the woman who had made his life wonderful for those too few years they had together as a family. And as he would walk back to Winry's house, he'd think to himself that maybe Mother's Day wasn't all bad.
