Chapter 4: Meteor Crisis of The Past
(Buramudgee)
What was once a lively town full of Australian mammals was now a freezing tundra. Several of the windows on the buildings were broken and there was snow and dark clouds everywhere. In one part of Buramudgee, Pit was digging through this one pile of snow until he eventually dug up Dennis' head out of the snow he was buried in. Only Dennis is looking more blue than green and he was shivering like crazy.
Dennis- S-s-so-o-o…c-c-cold…
Ty- Hang on, mate!
Then Ty pulls out his Lavarangs and used them to carefully melt the snow and ice around Dennis. Dennis almost falls to the ground, but Pit quickly catches him.
Pit- I gotcha!
Dennis- T-T-Ty…wh-wh-where did all this snow…
Ty- We'll explain when we get you to the safe house, mate.
(Bush Rescue HQ)
The Bush Rescue headquarters was turned into a shelter for everyone in Buramudgee as their home was currently turned into a frozen tundra with a massive blizzard outside, even though it was during the summer in Australia. So many koalas and other Australian animals were huddling under blankets and standing next to the fire in the middle of the room in an attempt to get warm. Meanwhile, Palutena and Viridi were attempting to keep the power from going out. Fluffy apparently was handling it worse than the others. She was wrapped in three blankets instead of one and she was acting even more aggressive than usual.
Fluffy- Damn this cold and snow! Snow and ice in the wrong time of year! What the ****?!
Shazza- Yikes! Is it just me or is Fluffy angrier than usual?
Viridi- Cold blooded animals don't handle cold very well.
Dark Pit- That's right! That's how we beat Fluffy when Medusa turned her into a monster.
Viridi- That's the damage meteor impacts can have on the planet.
Palutena- And that's why we're here instead of in Skyworld. To try and fix the damage done to Buramudgee before the effects become permanent and freeze over.
Sly- How long will that take?
Viridi- As long as another meteor doesn't fall from the sky and collides with any part of Australia again…about six to eight days.
Fluffy- Six to eight days?! Oh no, no, no! I can't take enduring living in a sub-zero environment for that long!
Shazza- What's the matter? Afraid of the cold? Don't be such a…
Before Shazza could finish, Fluffy rushed up to Shazza and pressed her face against Shazza's.
Fluffy- Don't you dare call me a chicken…or I'll blow a hole in your head!
Then Fluffy looks down at Fang who was in the baby harness Shazza was wearing.
Fluffy- And I don't care if there is a baby watching!
Then Ty and Pit walk into the building while carrying Dennis over to Lenny the Lyrebird who was handing out blankets.
Ty- And I don't care if the reason you're acting this way is because the cold is making you uncomfortable…that's not the way to talk to a baby, Fluffy.
Pit- We need another blanket.
Lenny- Certainly. This should keep you nice and cool in this scorching desert.
Dark Pit- Did you hit your head or something? It's snowing outside!
Sly- Get used to it. Lying is what Lenny does all the time.
Lenny- Hey! I'm not a lier! I've always told the truth! Everything I say is 100% true. Like when I lead Sly through the volcano in the first Ty the Tasmanian Tiger game.
Ty- Actually, you were trying to tell me, not Sly, where to go in the rainforest…but you always told me to go in the wrong direction…
Lenny- My point exactly!
Dark Pit- I swear, if I keep having to hear more of his lies, I might decide to invite him to the next Thanksgiving dinner for the roasted bird!
Then Julius rushed in.
Julius- Ty, I'm glad you returned. I think I've figured out what happened. My computer picked up a signal was sent into space.
Viridi- A signal you say…?
Julius- Yes, like a beacon. That signal was actually what attracted that asteroid to get pulled into Earth's atmosphere and that's obviously where the meteor came from. And if my reading are correct, the signal was broadcast from Cassopolis.
Fluffy- Boss Cass?! Oh…that son of a…what the **** was he thinking causing this?!
Palutena- I guess our theory was true, Viridi. Boss Cass is attempting to rebuild Duke Cass' Meteor Beacon.
Pit- Lady Palutena, it there something you and Viridi not telling us?
Viridi- You see, 1,000 years ago, another cassowary made a device to make meteors fall and attempt to create a second ice age.
Palutena- It was during the time of the original Super Mario Brothers' Team back when Icarus was my servant. It's a long story, but I guess we should tell you what you're dealing with.
(Toad Town 1,000 years ago)
Toad Town was looking like it was demolished. Not as bad as when Tabuu attacked, but still looking damaged. We see the original Super Mario Brothers' Team as well as Slicor's Team were standing outside Princess Amethyst's castle which was the only building that was left standing in Toad Town. A female Star Warrior who look similar to Kirby was helping a strange jester who looked similar to Marx stand.
Kimberly- Jayx, are you feeling better?
Jayx- (Hiccup)…Oh…my head…Kimberly…what happened last night…at the Origami Festival…feels like I got one hell of a hangover…
Then an angel that looked similar to Pit walked up to Kimberly from behind.
Icarus- Kim, maybe it's best if he doesn't remember how he was folded into one of those origami monsters.
Kimberly- Maybe you're right, Icarus.
Then we see a gray Tasmanian tiger with a scar over his right eye who looked similar to Ty and a white hedgehog with a cyan blue scarf around his neck who looks similar to Sonic pull a man who looked like Luigi out of the pile of rubble only he had several cuts on his face.
Simba- Yikes! Now that's what I call a paper cut, mate!
Loewy- Very funny, Simba! But who would've thought that origami was capable of this?
Chaos- Truth is, origami has more power than most people realize.
Then a man who looks similar to Mario drew a sword that was sheathed on his hip and held the sword in his hands up to his face.
Marco- But what I can't believe my sword just bounced off of her…like rubber…
Loewy- Yeah, you gotta be kidding me! That sword is strong enough to cut through Tabuu, but not some crazy origami witch?!
Meanwhile, a cassowary who looked similar to Boss Cass was moving towards the background and seemed upset about something. He moved over to what was left of a strange machine.
Duke Cass- Stupid piece of junk!
Then Duke Cass kicked the machine and it suddenly began to vibrate and sending out a sound frequency. Before Duke Cass could wonder what was going on, a bunch of flies suddenly swarmed and surrounded his face.
Duke Cass- Hey! Yuck! Get away from me! Somebody get these bugs off of me!
Demise- Fine…you better hold your breath, Duke Cass.
Then Demise used his dark magic to a large gas cloud that made all the flies drop from Duke Cass' face.
Duke Cass- Where did all those bugs come from and why did they rush to my face like that?
Demise- Probably the frequency of when you kicked your failed invention that got destroyed in the fight. It sent a signal to attracted it. You know, with the right volume and frequency, you can even send a signal or a beacon that can attract just about anything.
Just then, Duke Cass acted as if an idea just popped into his head as he made a shady smile.
Duke Cass- Tell me, Demise, can a signal be shot into space and still reach what the desired target?
Demise- I suppose so, but why do you want to know?
Duke Cass- I believe I've just been inspired for a little…experiment…
(Later at Cassopolis)
Duke Cass had finished working on this strange machine and seemed completely exhausted.
Duke Cass- Finally! After several weeks of building and doing James Robotnik a few favors for the machine parts, but I finally finished my greatest invention. Demise said with the right frequency and volume, I can attract just about anything. Even a meteor! Just like they said a meteor wiped out the dinosaurs, I can use this to rid the world of those stinking mammals the same way! CAWHAHAHAHA!
Then Duke Cass turned the Meteor Beacon and a signal into the sky and into space.
(Later in Buramudgee)
Simba was at the market purchasing some meat. Suddenly, Simba heard others screaming in terror. When Simba looked up at the sky, he saw what looked like a large flaming rock falling from the sky. Even though the meteor landed in the outback, the shockwave from the impact still managed to reach Buramudgee and knocked almost everyone off their feet, including Simba. Also demolishing most of Buramudgee.
(Later in the skies above Cassopolis)
The Shooting Star was flying towards Duke Cass' tower while snow was falling from the sky. On the Shooting Star was Marco, Loewy, King Kong, Simba, and Icarus. However, King Kong was shivering and had a dripping hanging from his nose.
King Kong- King Kong not feeling good…King Kong catching…(Sneeze)…cold…(sniff)…
Loewy- This is odd. Snow in the middle of summer in Australia.
Marco- And you said this happened when a meteor fell from sky?
Simba- That's right, mate.
Palutena (telepathically to everyone)- Meteors can have devastating effect on planets when they strike.
Icarus- Devastating like how, Lady Palutena?
Palutena (telepathically to Icarus)- Devastating like if enough of them continuously crash into the planet, it could risk completely freezing over and cause a second ice age.
Loewy- Yikes! I don't think I can live through a permanent winter like that!
King Kong- Neither can King Kong…(sniff)…King Kong need hot soup after this…
Palutena (telepathically to Simba)- I was able to trace the signal that attracted the meteor. It came from Cassopolis.
Simba- Duke Cass…should've known he was behind this! I say we pay him a visit, mate!
(Later at Duke Cass' Tower in Cassopolis)
Marco, Loewy, King Kong, Simba, and Icarus arrived at the tower and saw the Meteor Beacon near the center. But as they approached it, King Kong felt a powerful urge to sneeze.
King Kong- (SNEEZE)
Surprisingly, his sneeze actually knocked Loewy off his feet and he fell to the ground.
Loewy- Watch it, King Kong! Your sneeze almost blew me off the tower!
King Kong- King Kong sorry…but King Kong not feeling well…King Kong might have…
Before King Kong could finish, he suddenly began to feel the urge to sneeze again and quickly placed his arm of his face before sneezing again.
King Kong- King Kong might have cold…(SNIFF)…
Then King Kong saw he had made a mess on his arm. He did try to reach for one of Icarus' wings, but Icarus pulled himself away from King Kong the moment he reached for him.
Icarus- Don't you dare use my wings to wipe your snot! That's disgusting, King Kong!
Simba- Anyway, we finally found the thing responsible for causing all those meteors to fall and hit Earth. And right here in Duke Cass' home.
Then Marco draws his sword slightly and readies himself to strike.
Marco- So let's destroy it before it causes any more meteors to fall!
But before they could do anything, Duke Cass appeared from behind the Meteor Beacon.
Duke Cass- Not so fast there, Marco Mario! You didn't think I would just leave my Meteor Beacon unguarded?
Simba- Duke Cass!
Duke Cass- You fools are far too late to stop me! Even as we speak, my Meteor Beacon is pulling in more asteroids in space to fall and crash into the planet yet again!
Icarus- You idiot! Don't you realize the damage you're doing to the planet! You've already caused it to start snowing in middle of the hottest day of the year with those meteors you've caused to fall earlier! Also, Lady Palutena says you'll risk causing a second ice age if the meteors keep hitting the planet!
Duke Cass- CAWHAHAHAHA! That's the point!
Simba- Wait…you're actually trying to…
Duke Cass- What better way to knock you mammals off the top of the food chain than by putting you all on ice?
Loewy- I'm not sure Slicor would approve of that.
Duke Cass- Forget Slicor! Him and the rest of Slicor's team aren't even aware of what I'm doing. But you won't be around as the world freezes over and rids me of you mammals once and for all!
Simba- You've never been able to beat me on your own, Duke Cass. What makes you think you can take all of us on your own?
Duke Cass- Just look behind you…
Then Marco, Loewy, King Kong, Simba, and Icarus turned around and saw a very large meteor falling from the sky and looking like it was about to hid Buramudgee.
Simba- Shit! This is bad, mates! If a meteor of that size hits the surface…
Duke Cass- CAWHAHAHAHAHAHA!
The large meteor was falling closer and closer to the ground below. But to everyone's surprise, Viridi appeared in her giant for like she had just used a mega-shroom powerup and managed to whack her staff like a baseball bat and knock the meteor back into space.
Viridi- Would you look at that. I think I just hit a homerun there!
Icarus- What the?! Viridi?
Viridi- I might not like humans, but the damage done by the impact of meteors is even worse. The damage of the planet freezing over will take centuries to recover. And I can't let that happen.
Then Duke Cass turned on the Meteor Beacon again and began sending more signals into space.
Duke Cass- You might have stopped one large meteor, but even a goddess like you can't stop several falling down at once!
Duke Cass sent more signals into space, but King Kong managed to jump on the Meteor Beacon and damaged it.
Duke Cass- You're too late, you brainless monkey! The beacon has already been sent and with the Meteor Beacon destroyed like that, I can't undo what I've done!
Then Marco and the others see several meteors to fall and all looking as large as the Meteor Viridi knocked into space earlier.
Viridi- Uh…Marco…Icarus…I don't think I'll be able to hit all of them into space without some getting passed me and hitting the Earth again…
Icarus- Lady Palutena…what should we do?
Palutena (telepathically to Icarus)- Best idea I got is to blast as many of those meteors as you can. Activating the Power of Flight!
Then Icarus' wings light up and he began to fly into the air. Then two super leaves appeared in front of Marco and Loewy.
Palutena (telepathically to Marco and Loewy)- Best you fly up as well. We'll need all the fliers we can.
Marco and Loewy each took one and turned into Racoon Marco and Racoon Loewy as they flew up after Icarus.
King Kong- What King Kong and Tasmanian tiger do? We not fly.
Simba- Let me think, mate…hang on! Duke Cass said undo what he did…King Kong, I'm gonna need your help, mate!
Viridi was swinging her staff to try and knock as many of the meteors back into space. Meanwhile, Racoon Marco and Icarus were breaking down several of the large meteors into smaller chunks with Marco's sword and Icarus' Palutena's Bow. Then Racoon Loewy swatted the broken-down pieces with his racoon tail and knocked them back into space, but this was also causing Racoon Loewy some pain and there was even a large blister on his racoon tail.
Racoon Loewy- Yowch! This tail might only be an extension with that powerup item, but that doesn't mean this doesn't still hurt at all!
At the same time, Simba was attempting to connect some wires from the damaged Meteor Beacon back together while King Kong was using his strength to bend parts of the antenna in the ways Simba instructed him to.
Simba- Ok, not bend that part of the antenna to the left…
King Kong bends part of the antenna with his paw to the left.
Simba- Not that part! I meant the part held in your other paw! And move that other part back to where you had it earlier.
Then King Kong moved the parts of the antenna he was holding according to Simba's instructions.
Simba- Ok…here goes nothing!
Then the damaged Meteor Beacon managed to send out another signal. However, this signal repelled the Meteors back into space rather than attracted them. It wasn't long before all the meteors were returning back to space.
Duke Cass- What just happened?!
Simba- Like you said earlier…this Meteor Beacon could undo what you did, mate! So, I managed to set the signal in reverse and return the meteors back into space.
Then Viridi picked up Duke Cass by the skin on the back of his neck and held him up to her face.
Viridi- And don't think you're not going to face punishment for attempting to set the world back into the ice age.
Duke Cass- Uh…can't we talk about this?
Viridi- No…
Then Viridi flicked Duck Cass into the distance.
(Back in Bush Rescue in modern time)
Ty, Pit, Dark Pit, Shazza, Sly, and Fluffy were a bit surprised after hearing Palutena and Viridi's story about what happened 1,000 years ago.
Pit- So this was a scheme Duke Cass tried to perform.
Ty- And you believe Boss Cass is attempting the same thing, shela?
Viridi- The signal came from Cassopolis. Its obvious Boss Cass must've found the Meteor Beacon and caused that other meteor to fall.
Palutena- But we can't let him attempt to cause any more meteors to fall or the damage could be unreversible.
Ty- Then we better get to Cassopolis, pronto!
