Chapter 2: Street-fight
A week passed. A wild, wild week to be sure. Amity wanted to ask Luz so many questions, but getting people for the competition came first, since there was so little time. Luz is her girlfriend, and she would tell her anything if she asked. Questions could be left for later. Luz went back to the human realm for the time being. Amity didn't want her involved in these fights at all, she didn't want to see her get hurt.
For now, she asked Mr. Tokugawa to give her a special seat to watch the tournament, but when he told her "that could be arranged", something did not feel right about that.
Something does not feel right about any of this. The way this little old man talked about the competition made it feel excessively dangerous for some reason Amity couldn't quite put her finger on. Was a "street-fight" somehow different from a regular fight? He was too excited, too eager to see this go down. And it wasn't pride like it was with her, something else motivated him, something she couldn't tell what it was.
But for now, gathering people was priority #1. And it had gone….. better than she expected to be honest.
"Everyone, thank you for coming along with me. I know it's selfish to ask such a thing out of nowhere, and I'm sorry if I inconvenienced you too much."
"Miss Blight, you are so lucky I get my full mani-pedi done on the weekends, or else I would not be here."
Of all people, Darius, head witch of the Abomination coven, was the first to say yes. As well as the first Amity looked at for this. She supposed he had the same pride in him that she did, and turns out she was right.
"ÕwÕ"
Eberwolf was just as excited as the old human man was. He always had a knack for causing more trouble than necessary, so it was an easy yes from him as well. He looked ready as ready could be.
Amity had actually tried to get 8 head witches for this competition, and while she didn't quite get that many, 5 was still a good number to start with.
"Don't worry sweety, this will be a breeze. And we can go for something to eat afterwards if you'd like!"
Willow's grandmother, Flora, was the head witch of the plant coven. She had accepted quite easily since Willow herself was also going to participate (she wasn't going to initially, but Amity needed 3 more people and Willow was happy to be a part of it).
"HEY! MIISSS-BLLLLLLLLIGHT! Don't worry your pretty little head, dear! We are going to GIVE. THEM. A. SHOW LIKE THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE! It's going to be great!"
"Crowley, calm down. This is a fight, not a stage performance, you could get hurt. You should know not to look down on humans, they can be deceptively dangerous."
Crowley and Sclep, head witches of the Illusion and Healing coven stepped in the makeshift arena Tokugawa had set up for this event. Amity was surprised they of all people wanted to get involved in a fight, but she guessed it was better than being stuck all day taking care of the (supposedly) weakened Belos.
Every other head witch declined the offer, with the exception of Raine whispers who was not allowed to participate by their Girlfriend. The owl lady had been extra overprotective of them since their last attempt at fighting.
"Let's get this over with, by the way, can we bring Palismen into this? I kind of need rascal to do anything here. I mean I'm not useless without him, but I definitely wouldn't be at 100% capacity."
Hunter had also agreed to fight for….. quite frankly incomprehensible reasons. It looked like not even HE knew fully why he wanted to fight. He kept saying he just "felt like it, and couldn't tell you why". Odd, but any port in a storm.
"You ready Amity?"
"….. Ready as I could be, Willow. Let's go."
Amity could not find an 8th fighter, unfortunately. So she decided to put her money where her mouth was and step in herself. After all, she was the one that agreed to this in the first place, so there is a certain responsibility she had to step up to.
"Oh, and by the way Hunter, we can bring palismen. Actually, when I was talking to Mr. Tokugawa, he said we could bring anything we wanted."
To be clear, he said "It's a street-fight! Go ahead!" which could not have been a bigger red flag if he tried it.
They step into the arena and- DEAR TITAN WHERE DID ALL THESE PEOPLE COME FROM?!
The stadium was not just massive, but it was packed to the brim with both witch and human spectators. How in the titan's name did that one little man spread the word THAT quickly to so many people?! She thought her mother was good at setting up events, this is on a completely different level. Humans will never stop to amaze Amity.
As each competitor walks in, an announcer was introducing them by name, title and a number from 1 to 8.
"Hey Blight, what's the number for?" asked Hunter.
She didn't answer because she didn't know. Tokugawa said it wasn't immediately important, but that she should keep it in mind for later. For now, she was reading herself up for the upcoming match. (Number 8 for Amity, noted).
Then came the turn of the human fighters. And right out the gate there were some NOTABLE characters in there.
Namely, two of the humans were big.
BIG big.
Like, ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE.
Each one measured at least over 2 meters and was packing so much muscle, it was almost unnatural.
"AND ON THE HUMAN SIDE! WE HAVE CONTESTANT NUMBER 9! COMING FROM THE LANDS OF THE FORMER SOVIET UNION, THIS MAN WAS FEARED ALMOST AS MUCH AS HE WAS BELOVED! SAID TO HAVE OCCULT POWERS MANY CONSIDER A BLASPHEMY UPON GOD HIMSELF, MANY TRIED AND FAILED TO KILL HIM! AND NOW, MODERN SCIENCE AND VOODOO MAGIC HAVE BROUGHT HIM BACK TO LIFE TO SHOW US WHAT HE IS TRULY CAPABLE OF!"
The man in question had long unruly hair, a long beard, black robes and pointed shoes. In his left hand was a hard cover book with a black finish, with some strange golden characters Amity did not understand. He was one of the massive humans Amity had noted from before.
"It says "Holy Bible" in Russian, if you are wondering"
Mr. Tokugawa was talking to Amity from the VIP spectator's stands. Amity looked around and noticed she couldn't find Luz in the audience.
"Hey, Mr. Tokugawa, where is-"
*CRACK*
Before anyone could say anything else, before the announcer even had time to introduce the second fighter, they were interrupted by the sound of cracking bones coming from the side of the witches.
Amity turned to see the book the huge human was carrying slammed into Crowley's face with the heel of the human's right foot. Crowley flew several feet into the air, profusely bleeding from the nose as the massive human picked up the book and started walking in his direction.
"HEY, WHAT WAS THAT?! THE TOURNAMENT HASN'T EVEN STARTED MR. TOKUGAWA!"
"-AND GRIGORI RASPUTIN STARTS US OFF WITH A SINGLE SLAM TO HEAD WITCH CROWLEY'S FACE!"
Wait, what? Starts us off?
"Hoh, hoh, hoh! Something wrong Ms. Blight?"
"What do you mean "something wrong"?! This is dirty and low! This has to be against the rules isn't it?!"
"…"
"rules?"
"what rules?"
"we agreed to this didn't we? This was going to be a no-holds-bar street fight!"
"THERE ARE NO RULES"
