Stan stood outside the hospital's doors with a lit cigarette between his lips, and his eyes looking up into the clouded grey sky, he went to reach for his flask only to remember that he left it at home when Randy was going to take them out to eat, he took a deep breath and then blew out smoke. He felt exhausted, he didn't sleep at all last night while he sat in the waiting room, his parents left some hours later, but left him there, Randy was going to try and force him to go back, but his mom stepped in and told him that if he wanted to stay that he could, and so he did.
His eyes felt heavy and his stomach growled, he hadn't eaten since yesterday, he had a few dollars for the vending machines, but from his own personal stays and visits to the hospital, not only was the food they made taste bad, but the vending machine food was all knock offs of better brands, and they tasted like cardboard, and he wasn't going to waste money on that. Besides he's used to being hungry anyway.
He took another puff and dropped the butt onto the sidewalk, stomping it out with ease. He knows that he promised Kyle that he'd try to quit, but one can't just go cold turkey when having an addiction for so long, and he's been smoking since the fourth grade, he has cut back, his friends were told by Kyle what happened so they too were keeping an eye on how much and often he had a smoke, but with Kyle still unconscious in his hospital room, he was stressed. He doesn't know what happened, but when he saw Kyle's parents come in, he could tell something happened between them, but he didn't know what.
Taking a deep breath of the chill mountain air, he turned back to the door and walked in. He passed the waiting room and went straight for the hall that had Kyle's room, he was able to finally see him earlier, but when he saw Kyle's parents he stepped out. With his hands shoved in his pockets, he reached the open door only to freeze when he heard voices, one of them being Kyle's.
Quickly stepping in he saw Kyle propped up on his bed with Ike clinging to him in a tight hug, Shelia and Gerald were off to the side, not saying much, or if they said anything at all they already did before he came back, but there was a huge sense of relief that flooded him, he couldn't stop the smile that spread across his face, and when Kyle looked over at the door and their eyes met, he couldn't keep it together.
He rushed over while yelling the redhead's name and clung to him as well, the injured teen made a sound of discomfort, but didn't push either of the two away. Stan buried his face in Kyle's shoulder and breathed in his scent, well there wasn't much of it besides the smell of dirt and hemp plants he crashed into, but there was still a lingering hint of what Stan would define as his scent, but he didn't really know how to describe it.
"We should get going now."
Stan pulled away a bit to see Kyle's parents making their way to the door, Ike protested, but Kyle ruffled his hair and told him he'd be fine and he'd see him tomorrow, so Ike left behind their parents, but not without one last glance back at his bedridden brother.
So Stan and Kyle were alone now.
"Are you alright?"
Kyle looked back over at him and smiled, "Yeah, just a scrape."
The raven blinked at him as he glanced down and saw his casted wrist, and bandaged arms, and some bandaids on his face, he sighed as he fixed himself to fully sit on the bed with Kyle and asked, "What happened? Why were you in Randy's field at eight at night?"
The redhead's sea-green eyes looked away as he let out a sigh and leaned back in his bed, running a hand through his loose curls, "Got in a fight with mom and dad, someone ratted me out that I wasn't a virgin. So after ma slapped me I was gonna go over to your place and try and crash. Just didn't know I would literally crash."
Stan blinked in shock, "Your mom slapped you?!"
Kyle shrugged, "She apologized for it, they both did actually..." he trailed off as he got a faraway look in his eyes before shaking his head, seemingly snapping out of whatever state he was in, before turning back and grinned at him, "At least they said they're gonna completely drop the idea of sending me off to military school so there's that."
The goth frowned and wrapped his arms around Kyle again and holding him close, "They hurt you...you don't have to pretend to be okay, you know how shitty my life is, so I don't want you to make light of what they did to you."
Kyle didn't say anything, he just sat there in Stan's hold, but eventually, he wrapped his arms around the goth and melted into his hold. The goth smiled, only to then feel himself get moved forward, looking up he found himself now laying next to Kyle on the hospital bed, as they were still holding one another. Soon the sun started to go down which could be seen through the window in the room, and the two eventually fell asleep.
The next morning Kyle woke up with Stan in his arms sleeping next to him, so not wanting to wake the goth he just continued to lay and just ran his fingers through his hair, looking through the window he could see the sun was partway up, so he didn't sleep into noon at least.
He let out a sigh, he was a bit sore from the other day and he had a bit of a headache but other than that he felt fine, maybe they'll let him out soon. He then heard the sound of clicking heels, looking over at the door he saw a nurse come in with a tray of food, only to pause when she saw that he wasn't alone, she gave him a smile and asked, "Would your boyfriend like something to eat when he wakes up?"
His sea-green eyes glanced down at Stan before looking back up at the nurse and giving her a nod, "Just sit it on the table."
She gave a nod and sat down one tray, left, and then came back with another. She said that the doctor would be coming in soon and then left, leaving Kyle alone again with Stan. He let out a sigh, he probably did need to get Stan to wake up, he's actually surprised that he didn't kick him out last night, then again South Park was not a normal town as he's come to learn, so they more or less didn't care. Which he does need to wake him before the doctor comes in so Stan wouldn't become an embarrassed mess being seen like this, or before his parents show, they may have talked a bit after he woke up, them apologizing and saying how they want to do better, and how Military school is officially off the table, but he's still hurt by them. He has been for the longest time, so he figures he best keep his distances for now, but Ike was so worried, he felt horrible for making both him and Stan worry over him just because he swerved to miss a car and lose control.
He was going to have to make it up to the both of them, but first.
"Wakey wakey, time to get up kitten," he whispered as he gently shook his pale boyfriend, who groaned and nuzzled his face into the pillow a bit before finally looking over at Kyle. "What?" He sounded so tired.
"The doc should be comin' in soon and I know you'd die of embarrassment if someone saw us like this," Kyle answered with a grin on his face.
Stan's face flushed a bit as he sat up, "Fine," his stomach then let out a loud growl, causing his face to redden further.
"A nurse left us some food, you should eat."
Stan glanced away, then glanced over at the food, it barely looked appetizing, but sighed, knowing that Kyle would get him to eat one way or another, so standing he went over to the table and brought back both trays, where the two then started to eat, grimacing at the horrid taste. It was after they had finished eating that the doctor walked in, "Morning Mr. Broflovski, how are you this morning?"
Kyle shrugged, as he replied, "Feelin' alright, think I can get out soon?"
The older man looked over his clipboard he answered, "Depending on how your injuries are, you could get out today."
The redhead let out a sigh of relief, the sooner he got out, the better.
"However I do need to ask you some questions if that is alright?" He glanced up at Stan who still was sitting in the bed with Kyle, "Alone."
The two teens glanced at one another, "Got my parents' permission for that?"
The man nodded, "Yes, and they said that they will be here soon to hopefully take you home."
Kyle sighed, "Okay." He saw a flash of concern in his boyfriend's eyes, "I'll be fine kitten, just some questions, prob to make sure I didn't hit my head or somethin'."
"If it makes you feel any better, you can just stand outside the door and you can come on back in when I'm done."
Stan let out a sigh but feeling Kyle's hand squeeze his own made him feel a bit better, "Fine."
He stood and walked away from the bed, Kye's fingers slipping from the grip he once had, but before he walked out the door and went to close it he gave one more concerned look, and then shut it.
"So what'd ya need to know doc?"
"How's life at home?"
Hours later, Kyle was sat in the back of his parents' car, Ike stayed home apparently, he hoped he wasn't upset about everything, he had said his goodbyes to Stan who's mom had come to pick him up after hearing word when he was going home and was silently sitting in the back seat, the car's atmosphere was thick with apprehension, but no one would break the silence, then again Kyle would rather everything just be quiet. His wrist was wrapped up and he had a sling, which he hoped wouldn't need for long, and his arms were still wrapped, he did have a nasty fall that did a number on his arms, but his focus wasn't on the dull pain in his body, no it was down at the paper the doctor had given him after the questioning.
It was a recommendation to see a therapist, his parents didn't know, and they didn't need to know about this. He frowned, he wasn't that messed up, right?
He shook his head, of course, he was messed up, he was Kyle Broflovski, the ultimate fuck-up... maybe he would get into contact, maybe this will help him with his conflicting thoughts and feelings about everything that's been how whole life.
