Kel smiled down at Lalasa who was adjusting the hem of her light green dress. After her old maid had come from Corus to dress her old mistress for the ball that was being held that night in honor of the end of the Scanran War, so, naturally Kel was ordered to be there.

Lalasa stood up and announced that she was ready to go.

Kel looked into the mirror. Her light green dress had a V-neck and long flowing skirts. Its sleeves went to her elbow before splitting into cuffs that touched the floor. Kel had a lime green necklace, and earbobs and bracelets to match. Jewels from lime green to forest green in colour surrounded her waistline and smaller ones adorned the neckline. Her shoulder length hair was in a tight bun with a few strands left to frame her face. Red lip rouge had made her sensual mouth appear fuller and glossier than normal and a light blush graced her cheeks. Above her dreamers eyes Lalasa had expertly applied some light green eye rouge that brought out the green in her hazel eyes. On her feet she had a pair of intricately embroidered moss coloured Yamani style slippers instead of the high Tortallan style shoes.

She may like dresses but there was NO WAY she was going to kill herself with those shoes – that wouldn't look too good on a grave stone – 'Keladry of Mindelan, brave fighter, killer of Blayce, Protector of the Small, killed by court shoes'.
