Obi-Wan didn't even bother getting up when the doors opened. The Clone Troopers simply grabbed him, and began to drag him away. He knew where they were taking him. To Vader. To the Emperor. Amazingly, he wasn't bothered by this, he knew death awaited him, and gladly welcomed it. The former Jedi Master heard a harsh, mechanical breathing growing closer, and as they rounded a corner, Obi-Wan came face to face with the Dark Lord of the Sith. They each stood there frozen, waiting for what the other would do.

"Where is my wife?" came the question he knew would come.

"Dead." stated Obi-Wan callously.

"Dead?" breathed Vader. Suddenly a force-push threw Obi-Wan into a wall. "You're LYING!" yelled Vader. Obi-Wan struggled to his feet. "I have no reason to." he said simply. The Dark Lord threw him again, sending him skidding across the floor. "Where. . .is she?" the Sith asked again; shaking. The once Jedi stood, gathering his bearings. "I told you." Without warning, he dropped to his knees, clawing at the unseen hands that tried to claim him. "I'll ask once more. Where is Padme?" growled Vader menacingly. Obi-Wan gasped, pulling as much air into his lungs as he could. "I. . .I told you dead. . . Why would I lie? I loved her too! She's dead because of you!"

Vader couldn't take it anymore, and Obi-Wan knew it. One more force-push sent him flying through the window, to the ground 3 stories below.

As Obi-Wan lay there dying, Vader strode through the doors to watch him suffer. He saw the Dark Lord step back shocked, when Obi-Wan laughed. "What?" he growled out at his old master. "I told you. . ." he laughed again, but began coughing furiously. Vader toyed with the idea of just walking away and letting him suffer, when he noticed Obi-Wan grasping something in his hand. Vader retrieved it, and gasped. It was the japor snippet he'd given Padme as a boy. She'd never taken it off.

Obi-Wan's eyes began to drift closed. He was glad to be leaving. There was nothing left of him. His life meant nothing without the people that made it what it was.

"She was dead." stated Vader, but too late. At that moment, the only other person that ever cared for Anakin Skywalker died, leaving nothing but his robes behind.
