"Do you see him down there Skye?"
"No, still nothing" Skye said, her eyes going from one building and patch of land to anyone, one by one it seemed tedious, but it was completely warranted and worth it for what they were looking for. "Chase, what about you?" Tracker asked on his tag.
"Still searching, Valkyrie and I are going to search the beach again just in case we missed anything" Chase stated disconnecting from the line and turning back to Valkyrie. "Chase, didn't we already check the beach twice already?" she asked, knowing that Chase was worried just as much as Tracker and Skye about Canare.
"I know Val, But Im not going to give up on my nephew. I want to keep searching for a lost pup before we end up stumbling onto a corpse instead" Chase stated with a passion, Wise words were told from that German Shepherd.
"Alright, I guess there were some spots we may have missed" Valkyrie said, already turning around and facing the coastline. Both ready to begin their search once more before their ears perked up in unison to a familiar sound behind them, the wails of a fire engine getting louder and louder.
Both of them turning around to see the friendly bright red Fire Engine speeding down towards them, but not out of control as already knowing who was behind the wheel. The Truck turned slanted, skidding all the way across the road, letting its own speed dial down for it to just slightly tap the border of the sidewalk. Jumping out of the driver's side was Marshall and Everest.
"Marshall, so glad you came to help" Chase expressed.
"Of course, Everest and I came as soon as I heard he was missing" Marshall replied.
"You two have anything we can go off on, any Idea where he could have gone?" Everest asked stepping into the conversation. "Nothing, we don't even know why he would run away like that" Chased stated with a shrug.
"So, one day he's here and then next he's not, that's all we know?" Marshall asked, hoping there was more to investigate that would eventually lead to Canare, But Chase just gave a face that didn't give the answer he was looking for.
"Well is there any place you guys haven't checked yet?" Said Marshall.
"Trust me, You name it, we've checked it, Even Zuma is out in the Shores checking anything" Chase said with his mind turning to the worst if anything were to pop up that he didn't want to hear about. Find a body instead of his nephew.
"Do you think he could have possibly gone outside of Adventure Bay?" Everest asked, bring up the possibility of going abroad to find Canare, Valkyrie perked up the sudden suspicion before turning to Chase to see his reaction and more importantly, his thoughts.
"I don't think so, even if he tried, He wouldn't have gotten far on foot" Chase pointed out that Canare wasn't that much of a runner, even if he for sure knew where he was going.
"There's no way he could have went on the Highway, The Bridge is still under construction and no one gets up there, He for sure would have been stopped" The German Shepherd said, trying to think of a way he could have gotten onto the bridge.
"But what if he didn't that route?" Marshall asked.
"What do you mean?" Chase question the Dalmation back.
"What about the other road, the one near the Gas Station, where does that lead?" Marshall asked, Chase wished he had a solid answer for his friend's question, but after thinking of it. Not even he knew, in fact, he never even thought about it until now.
"I-I don't know, where does that road even go?"
"Adventure County" All four of the canine turned around to see a Blue German Shepherd, Female and sweating what seemed to a quick work out she had just paused to answer their question. "What's Adventure County?" Valkyrie asked.
"You guys really don't know huh, it's a just a big old collection of farmlands, thick vegetation and old country values with a town smack dab in the middle, it's a pretty quiet place to be honest, surprised you guys never heard of it."
"So how do you know about it?" Chased asked to Sylvia.
"I spend some time there sometimes, Nice place if you're just trying to settle down with life, anyways, got to get back my work out, see you later Chase" Sylvia waved before sprinting back down the sidewalk as he usual routine for the days.
"Tracker and Skye, you guys there?" Chase asked, tapping on his tag as it lit up like a light, indicating the communication was on.
"Yeah we hear you Chase, did you find anything?"
"Well, Somewhat, I think we may know where Canare might have gone"
"Welcome back to Starling Radio, The best radio station in the entire nation, stay tuned for our hour long podcast as usual for Tuesdays" The Radio host shouted with exaggeration and emphasis over the communication line, certainly city comfortable in his chair broadcasting his station across to millions of people, including a lone truck driving down a long road.
Two Teenagers in the front but unknown to them a pup in the back, Canare laying his fuzzed head on the metal texture of the back of the pickup, trying to sleep but unfortunately the universe just wouldn't let him get shup eye for a simple few moments.
It seemed like every millisecond as the truck would go, it would bump up and down suddenly from a pothole, swerve suddenly from left to right or the Radio volume being so loud, you could hear it from all the back from Adventure Bay.
Canare's interest perked up however when his mind was hit with a simple question.
'How far am I from Home?'
Canare lifted his head to look over the sides of the back of the pickup truck to see the vehicle still doing a sold 80 down a road that looked like it should be busy, but more importantly, looking back from the opposite direction of where the truck was going, there was Town in sight from where Canare was starring.
The pup couldn't believe it, Once excited to see the new world he had never seen, now afraid, behind away from the one place he knew only was frightening no matter how much your adventurous side tries to tempt you. Canare kept starring from over the Truck' backside as he saw a direction road sign fly by, Canare squinted his eyes to try and get a good glance at what it said.
'Adventure Bay – 80 Miles ahead'
Canare was 80 Miles away from Adventure Bay, still a nightmare to the pup, Canare started to back away from the rails of the truck and back up into where he first way, getting deep regret about his past decisions that lead him to this moment.
"Finally, Here we are" One of the Teenagers exclaimed, hoping down in his seat that was littered with cigarette burns and beer stains. Canare look up as he saw the Sign pass by.
'WELCOME TO ADVENTURE COUNTY, WHERE BEING BUSY TAKES A BREAK'
The Sign so bright and welcoming to whoever passed by it, stating that they were in controlled territory. Right away Canare peak his head beyond the railing of the truck's back and looked ahead.
Infront, he saw several farm fields and tall orange and banana trees lining down the roadway as if it were a tropical greeting from mother nature herself. Canare marveled at the beautiful country scenery as one by one, farmhouses and just typical residence doing their rounds around the land eyed Canare, giving smiles and waves.
Canare smiled before suddenly the pickup truck rocked from left to right, violently toeing the ling between the two lanes being very dangerous in time, very illegal. "Yo dude, any beers left?"
"Nah, Had the last one" The Teen Driver said throwing the empty beer can out the window.
"Dang, Lets stop in the town to get some more, then we can drop off your dad's truck later" The other accomplice stated, Canare cringed at the strong smell of alcohol the made its way even from inside the car all the way to the trunk, speeding down the asphalt.
Zipping past an Advertisement Bill Board on the side of the road, Unfortunately for them they had just become prey. A marked patrol car slowly cruised out of the bushes behind the Billboard and within seconds, its iconic wailing siren and flashing lights became clear as the moonlight.
"Man cops always ruin everything" The Adolescent male pointed out his distaste for law enforcement as he slowly lowered his acceleration pulled over to the side of the road, surely the Police cruisers staying behind as per usual traffic stop order.
Canare peaked over the railings slightly before seeing the Deputy step out of his patrol car and slowly walk up the passenger side of the truck, ducking his head back down to avoid detection. The Deputy wearing his classic tan long sleeve uniform top and Dark Brown pants with a bright yellow line going down the middle from his waist down to his ankles.
"Howdy, Im Deputy Remy Collins with the Adventure County Sheriff's Department, Yall know why I stopped you tonight? He said, leaning on the open windowsill of the pickup. "N-No Officer"
"Well for one, Yall swerved back there into the other lane. Two, you're speed is way over the limit and you're hazard lights are on"
"Oh…Woops, I have a bad memory, Sorry Officer"
"Bad memory huh, I think its more of the Alcohol than the memory" The Deputy pointed out as he pointed to the multiple cans of beers laying down at the passenger's feet and overwhelming smell sinking into the deputy's nose.
"Dispatch send me another unit to my location, Im on the main county road affecting a DUI arrest, Two white males both seem to be intoxicated" The Deputy said into his shoulder radio, asking for additional help.
'10-4, Another Deputy Nearby is On Route to your Location'
"How old are Yall by the way?" He asked, feeling they may have more to hide than he thought. The Teens froze for a second before giving a complex look, as if doing mental math to find out the most basic question. "We're both 17…O-Officer"
"Well that means yall are too young to be drinking in the county, Yall need to be 21 to drink" The Deputy rightfully claimed. Both teens looking confused as they had just played themselves into a trap.
"You know what, go ahead and step on out before yall say something that would get you both into more trouble…. Get out" He ordered, reaching inside the passenger side door, and opening the door.
The Deputy grabbed the arm of the passenger and slightly began tugging him his direction, urging him to get out of the vehicle. The Teenager slowly cooperated as he turned to the Officer before plummeting into the dirt due to his mass amount of beer. "Yall are definitely screwed now" The Deputy joked, know the driver was just as wasted.
Canare snickered as he watched as the teenager tried to stand up but just kept falling over repeatedly as if the bottom of his shoes were as smooth as a baby's skin. The pup looked on before hearing the distant wail of another siren incoming to the scene. The newly arriving patrol car pulling up right behind the first Deputy's.
"Stand up!" The Deputy shouted with the Teen still in the ground with his legs seemed to limp, not in use on purpose it seemed. "I can't feel my legs Officer!" He replied.
"You're just being stupid, Now get up or Imma shove you in the back of my patrol car" He threatened, but the Teen still on the ground but now groaning even like a child not getting what he wanted.
"Ey Driver, go ahead and step out on, don't make this hard than it needs to be" The Second Deputy said, tapping on the driver side window to get his attention. "Screw you pig" he said sticking his tongue out the thin blue soldier.
"Like I haven't heard that one before" The Cop jokingly stated as he reached into the door and opened it just like the first officer did. "Don't make me drag you out"
"Do it then!" Just like a command, The Officer grabbed the Teen by the grip of his jacket and pull him out the truck, pressing his face against the asphalt and the Deputy firmly placed his knee of his spine and reaching around his utility belt to grab his handcuffs.
"There are literally shooters out in the world and you two black teens, huh?!" The Teen said, seeming to be also delusional as well as drunk out of his mind.
"Sir, you're white" Deputy Remy stated walking over to his colleague in uniform with the passenger teen already in cuffs and littered with dirt all the way up to his pocket area. "You mind putting these two in the back of your car while I search the truck?"
"Not at all" The Second Deputy said as he stood back up, lifting the teen from off the ground and grabbing the other teen, walking them both his patrol car. The area flashing with red and blue lights as both the two teens began mumble incoherently.
"mhgkfkjgjrfffffffffttt" One of them murmured, clearly not making any sense. "Save it for the Jail cell Bud" The Deputy said in response.
Leaving the first Deputy by the truck, reaching into his pockets to pull out a pair of black gloves to search the truck formally and safely. Walking over to the trunk of the pickup to start his search, peaking over and unexpectedly seeing Canare, the pup who had been hiding this entire time.
"What the…How long have you been in there kid?" The Deputy asked, reaching out his hands to the pup.
"Ummmm…. I don't know" Canare shrugged not really knowing the time span of how long he has hitched his free ride for. "Only the Lord knows what kind of things you've been through, You must be starving, cold and scared" The Deputy worried as he walked back over to his patrol car and placed Canare right in the front.
Canare wasn't in any really distress, but felling the comfort of a cushioned seat once more, regardless if it was from the seat of a Police Cruiser, it felt nice. "Just sit tight while I find out what to do with you" The Deputy said before placing a small blanket over Canare and closing the door.
Letting the pup relax, making him feel like he was home. Whatever destination the universe put him onto, This felt like he had finally gotten there, laying head back as soon enough, he was going to be calling this place home soon.
