"Adventure County, Where's that?" Rocky asked, never even hearing a mention of the name with the only relation being the word 'Adventure' in the name of the area. "Sylvia said it's a big place full of farms and such, good old country living it sounds like" Chase claimed, reciting the blue German shepherd.
"You think Canare went there?"
"Absolutely, I've been looking at the all the CCTV footage from around Adventure Bay and I found a clip of Canare running into the back of a truck before it went down that road into Adventure County" Everyone in the room including Ryder looked at each other knowing this was the start of the journey that would require probably a lot of manning to do.
"Wait, Why haven't we heard of Adventure County before?" Rocky asked.
"Because there was no reason to mention it, nothing happens there, the real question is however, who's going to look for Canare and who's staying" Ryder mention, observing the all the canine to see who would be the most useful to the search.
"Ryder, I don't care what you say, Skye and I are going to search for him, no matter what" Tracker stepped forward along with Skye, a total disregard if Ryder was going to send him or not. "No worries, Tracker, I don't blame you"
"Chase and Valkyrie, you two as well" Ryder pointed his finger at both the brave shepherd and Saluki for them to step forward, Chase being first caught off guard at the pick along with Valkyrie who finally would be getting an experience outside of Adventure Bay apart from her obvious kidnapping and holdout in Mexico.
"Alright Ryder, we'll do our best to bring Canare home" Valkyrie stated with genuine confidence in her voice knowing she took the same words right out of Chase's mouth as well
"Heck yeah, The Trio is back baby" Marshall said wailing out in admiration because being let down by Ryder the very second, he has seemed he believed he was already picked to go.
"Sorry Marshall, but you're staying here, you too Everest. Even though Adventure County is a big place, we still need to keep Adventure Bay safe" Ryder stated.
The rest of the canine group nodded in agreement, they all could admit they wanted to go deep down when it came to Canare or even just a missing person they never knew.
"You guys will look after Rose and Eli while we're gone though, right?" Skye pressed the duties of her offspring over the Dalmation and the Husky.
"Of course, Never going to pass up and opportunity to see my Niece and little Nephew" Everest perked up as the thought of taking care of more family, old or young, warmed her heart.
"Alright it's settled, pack for a long stay and a longer trip, You guys better so get some rest" Ryder stated as brought up his pup pad and calculating the distance and time all the way to the county.
"But Ryder, I'm not tired, we can go now!" Skye Protested, wanting to go find Canare right now and make the early Journey to Adventure County.
"Skye I can see the bags under your eyes, just some rest and you four can out early in the morning, Im sure Tracker is tired too"
"No Ryder, I'm with Skye on this, I don't want to even shut my eyes for 5 minutes until I see my son again right beside me knowing he's safe"
"I'm sorry both of you, but there's no way we can go now, everyone is exhausted we all just need to rest, but you four can leave first thing in the morning" Ryder negotiated, knowing he saw the determination in the cockapoo's eyes for her child.
"Fine" Skye stormed off in the opposite direction, refusing to look at her friends for even just a second, making her way to her room, the earlier she slept was the earlier she would walk up as she stubbornly concluded in her mind. "I'll talk to her Ryder, I'll see you all in the morning, Goodnight" Tracker said following behind Skye.
"Taurus, remember to head to bed please!" Chase shouted, reminding his 'son' of his preferred time to head to sleep. Even though his tone wasn't at all seeming to be annoying or too bossy, Taurus struck back in a very hostile but verbal way.
"ALRIGHT FINE, I KNOW!" He said, matching the volume of the German Shepherd. "Taurus, talk back to Chase like that!" Valkyrie shouted, only for Taurus to just scoff back at the Saluki he knew as his mother but to spit in the direction of the German Shepherd he refused to even acknowledge as family.
"I don't get it, what did I do for him to act like that to me?" Chase questioned himself, was he not a good role model to Taurus. "Don't go being hard on yourself Chase, Im sure its just something going on at school, I'll look into it after all of this is sorted out" Valkyrie said before planting a small kiss on Chase's cheek and walking away, presumably to head to bed.
"Hey Remy, how's it hanging?" Another Deputy passed by his fellow brother in tan, greeting him as any other friendly colleague just as he realized the pup laying on his should, fast asleep and drooling a river on the deputy's back.
"Where'd you get that kid?"
"He was in the trunk of a truck I pulled over on the main county road, I'm gonna get in touch with CPS to see what they can do with him" he explained.
"Alright, have a nice night"
"You too" Remy waved back to his department friend as he walked up to the front doors his department and used his body to press against one of the glass doors, permitting himself entry.
The slightly yellow orangish glow of the room instead of the moonlight from outside made Canare's squint a bit, waking him up from his slumber and looking all around the room to see simple decorations and Police hiring posters along the board.
"Elena, get a CPS worker down to the station, I have pup that I want to hand over" he said resting his hands down on the front counter for the canine female on the other end to notice.
Her appearance was nothing too out of the ordinary, her breed being German Shepherd origin but instead of black and brown like Chase, she was whole black furred.
Crystal blue eyes and combed out fur on her chest area and down her back to let herself have a more feminine look.
Just like Remy, she wore a uniform as do all the Deputies but hers being traditional different as her being a dog instead a human. Her back, chest and belly were protected by a typical tan K9 vest. Letters on the side of the vest that brightly spelled out the word 'Sheriff'. Establishing that she belongs to the Sheriff's Department.
"Oh sure, let me just try and the phone, I could swear I felt it somewhere" The dark German shepherd said looking from carpet floor all the way around her new apparent desk station which she clear was no used to by the looks of it.
"I-I'll get back to you in second Remy, this may take a while to find, Gosh I feel like I'm getting senile with this type of memory" She jokingly mentioned, and she hopped out of her front desk chair and began to look around further.
"I hate using these wireless phones at the front desk, I can't wait till I get back out in field again" She said opening each drawer and filing cabinet for the piece of communication technology. "I'll just be here waiting on your scrambled brain to find it" he said backing away from the Polished frame of the front desk. Walking a few feet away as he lifted Canare of his back and placed him on a cushioned seat right next to him.
Canare let out a roaring yawn before looking up at the Deputy with his eyes bared open like a newborn cup that hadn't fully developed yet. "Rise and Shine buddy, you're in the Sheriff's Department" he said taking off his Cowboy hat and laying it to rest on a small table next to him.
Canare looked around as he rubbed both his eyes one by one for a few solid seconds, trying to truly contemplate where he was. "Hey Partner, you there?" The Deputy asked snapping his fingers In front of the pup just to see if he was all the way there in the brain.
"Am I under arrest?"
"Heh no, But just sit tight, CPS should be on their way to come and get you"
"CPS?"
"Child Protective Services, They'll just come and check your health and take you to put you into a Foster Home, Nice people that'll take care of you until we can find your parents" He said resting his legs up on a stand to relax more.
"You got Parents, right?"
"…" Canare stood quiet for a moment, slouching back into his chair seeming like he was refusing to expand on the matter. "You a runaway?" Remy asked now knowing he was going to get into a more serious matter.
Canare nodded his head without even looking back the LEO, all the deputy did was bring his seat closer to the pup. "I reckon they did you wrong, right?"
"They didn't love me anymore" Canare stated as he slowly began to tear up, thinking back to Tracker and Skye now in history where he asked to his father if he still loved him or not
Leaving it unanswered
"Hey Remy, CPS will be here in a few minutes" Elena shouted the small bit of news to the Deputy, he nodded back to the Black German shepherd with acknowledged look.
"What's your name kid, can't believe I never asked you that from before" he asked.
"C-Canare"
"Canare, that's a very special name, you have any siblings?"
"Mhm, I have a sister and little baby brother, My sister can be a meanie sometimes but she's pretty cool and I was there when my little brother was born too"
"I bet it was a special family moment"
"Hmm, It was more a loud moment"
"What do you mean by that?" The Deputy asked.
"My mom screamed and shouted a lot, I heard her from all the way in the waiting place" The Deputy couldn't help but smile and chuckle at the sheer innocence of the pup in that moment.
"My uncle and aunty has to handcuff her to the rolly thingy because she kept trying to grab my dad's neck for some reason, she looked really mad too"
"Your Uncle and Aunt are both Police Officers, you come from the City?"
"Nope, Adventure Bay"
"Adventure Bay huh, I know that place, Is it true y'all have a statue of a chicken up there?"
"Mhm, kind of weird though" Both Canare and the Deputy laughed for a moment at hilarity of it sounded before behind them, I came two familiar looking persons from the front door into the station.
"Hey Officer, got a phone call saying you got kid that we can take off your hands" One of them said stepping forward. "Actually…. I change my mind" The Deputy said standing between the CPS personnel and Canare.
"With all due respect Sir, unless you got money in your pocket to take care of that pup yourself, your service isn't needed anymore, we'll take good care of him"
No…No you won't, you'll just shove him into a foster home with 8 other kids and won't think twice about it" He said his face began to get more and more frustrated, and by the looks of his testing behaviour, he's just gotten started.
"I don't even know why I called you people down here to take this kid, the amount of calls I've got to Foster homes that yall are responsible for are in the hundreds, Yall don't care about the kids, yall care about the money the county council funds you with"
"Like I said, unless you got the resources yourself, whos gonna take care of that kid, huh, who?" The worker asked getting very hostile with the Deputy.
"Me…I'll do it" The Deputy said with such strong passion in his voice, knowing the genuine weight of his words and the commitment that stood behind it. "You can't be serious, you're willing to adopt this kid, right here right now?" The CPS employee asked.
"I am, I absolutely am"
