"Oh that's terrible, and you think he came all the way over here to Adventure County" Elena asked sitting next to Chase as he explained to her why they were all there. "Mhm, We were hoping to file a missing person report too while searching around the county" Chase said.
"That's a great idea, good think I'm on desk duty so I can log it into the system myself" Elena pointed out getting up from the seat in the middle of the waiting room and hoping back over to the other side of her work station.
"Oh crap" Elena cursed out after eying the computer screen.
"What's wrong?"
"I forgot it takes time to boot up when it goes on standby, these computers are crappy most of the time" she said turned the screen to face the rest of the crew, a slow blank screen that seemed to be taking forever to load.
"In the meanwhile though…What have you been up to recently, It's been ages since we last talked" Elena wagged her tail with a smile as she asked the German Shepherd.
"Oh well umm…. Quite a lot of things happened. Even rescuing one of my friends from a Ruthless Mexican Cartel" Chase claimed.
"No way, You have to tell me all about that later when I'm off my shift" Elena said before suddenly Valkyrie squeezed her way into the conversation.
"Sorry to burst this little reunion moment for you two, But we're not staying long, We're just finding the pup and leaving….and not coming back" Valkyrie stated as she seemed to stare down Elena for a bit, luckily for the Deputy German Shepherd she didn't realize the subtle hostility.
"Oh…Well, The county is very big, A lot of farms, lakes and even entire Forests. You four will definitely have to stay at least 2 Weeks to find him" She stated.
"Do you know where we can look as a start?" Skye asked peering up to the front desk.
"Hmm, not sure, An easy spot to look would just around town, best offer I can give" She said with a shrug just as the PC In front of her finished buffering.
"Finally, What does this pup look like so I can log it into the system" She asked hovering her paws over the key board ready for information. "Hes small, most brown fur with white patches, Big ears like his father and…" Skye began to list off the details of her lost pup one by one before out of no where.
"Dang, I got Ice cream all of my uniform, gonna be hell getting this out" Remy said coming into the station from the front door along side the small pup himself.
"Thank you for the Ice Cream" Canare said as he enjoyed his flavour one lick at a time. "No worries, I'm just still surprised they're still open this late at night" He said as both him and Canare both locked eyes with the Paw Patrol at the front desk.
More jaw dropping to be exact, Skye looking at Canare and almost breaking down to tears. "CANARE, MY BABY!" Skye shouted separating herself from the rest of the group sprinting to her found son.
"Oh thank you thank you thank you so much for finding him, Canare sweetie, Come here" Skye opened her paws out the pup, but she was greeted by a frightened look instead of an excited one.
Canare started to back away paw by paws being Remy's legs. Skye started to creep like a predator eyeing it's prey.
"Canare, C'mon, We're here to take you Home" Tracker said also stepping forward toward the pup he didn't seem budge. Canare stayed passively defiant as he latched onto the uniform pants of the Deputy, refusing to let go.
"Hold on, Who are y'all?" Remy backed up with Canare seeming to be very off guard by the sudden attempt snatch of the pup as he walked into the room. "We're his parents and we've come to take him back to Adventure Bay" Tracker said right behind Skye.
"I'm sorry, but he's not leaving with you" Remy stated.
"Excuse me?"
"Your kid said he ran away from y'all, If that's so, I have reason to suspect some sort of parental issue on your parts" He said firmly as he bent his back forward and up Canare, holding the pup in his arms as Tracker and Skye both couldn't believe what they were hearing.
"Y-You cannot be serious!" Skye shouted as she slightly began to shake at the mix up angry and disbelief boiling inside her now.
"Sorry to step in and even more sorry to not take your guy's side but…. We have Authority to withhold any child that has been a victim of Abuse or Neglect by a parent figure" Elena stepped in, walking right past Chase and an already annoyed Saluki to sit right by Remy.
"I HAVE NEVER ABUSED CANARE!" She shouted at the top of lungs at the Black furred German Shepherd who just growled back at her in response. "Im not leaving this building without my son" Tracker said standing right by Skye, mixing her stance and brandishing his own teeth.
"You know what, I'm better than this, I want to speak to BOTH of your supervisors" Skye eased up but still unrelenting on both the Human and Canine Deputies.
"We both are Supervisors"
"Fine, Then I want to speak to the Sheriff!" Skye ordered as suddenly both the Deputies stiffened up and they both looked at each other in anxiety as they both peaked behind themselves to look down a hallway that had the Sheriff's Office at the end.
"I umm…don't think the Sheriff wants to speak to anyone right now" Elena said looking back at Skye. "Well that's not to you to decided, I want to speak to the Sheriff right now" Skye said attempting to walk past Elena and Remy to the Sheriff's door at the end of the Hallway.
"Wait no, you don't understand, The Sheriff is like a Drill Sergeant on steroids, Its really best not to disturb, How about we go and speak to the Mayor instead?" Elena suggested.
"The Mayor, Don't you think he's way too busy to deal with something like this?" Chase asked, thinking of the level of Bureaucracy that involved this situation. Surely the Mayor was not a person that would over see a problem like this.
"Is he even awake at this time of night?" Valkyrie asked as Canare began to shake at the thought of him leaving to go back home with the people he ran away from. "Probably not, He's an Old Man, but it never hurts to check" Elena shrugged.
"If he can deal with this asap then fine, where is he?" Skye said as she turned away from the Hallway to face the Female German Shepherd. "The Office building on the other side of Town, Short Drive" Elena said running back over to her front desk and grabbing a set of keys that rested in a mug.
Elena motioned for the rest of the group to follow her, Remy eyed the Cockapoo who eyed him back with a Vicious look, but the Deputy just decided to ignore it and rack on ahead of him. "Hey Chase, Lets ride in my car, like old times back at the Academy" Elena waged her tail at the German Shepherd.
"Sure" Chase replied, and they both began to walk with each other side by side out the door laughing and smiling as Valkyrie eyed the German Shepherd with daggers for eyes, if looks could kill then Valkyrie would be charged for Murder in the highest degree. "Heh, looks like you're going to be sharing Chase while we're here" Tracker joked as he judged Valkyrie playfully as he passed her.
'This Country Bitch better not be doing what I think she's doing' Valkyrie thought as she narrowed her eyes at the Canine Deputy outside the glass door of the Sheriff's Department, seeing her and Chase laughing up a storm as both of them hopped in a County Patrol Car.
"The Mayor is not available right now, Why would you even want to see him at this time of night, Its past almost 1 in the morning" A Secretary said, Sitting at her Desk and rubbing her eyes, not coming to the reality that a group would ever want to request an interaction with the Mayor so late at night.
"Please, can you just check at least?" Skye asked, whilst prompted an eye roll from the Secretary but relenting as she dialed on the mayor's intercom that was sitting on her desk. "Daniel, Is your Grandfather up, A Few people want to speak with him" She said.
"Uh Yeah, Yeah hes awake, Send who ever needs to see me-I mean him, Inside please" Daniel said, The Grandson of the Mayor seeming to be very disoriented and confused. Tripping over his words and he ended the Communication Line. "Take the Elevator on the Right to the Third Floor, Then Make a Left to his Office" She instructed to the Cockapoo and to the rest of the group that was being her.
Surely enough they followed the Directions and were at the Doorstep of the Mayor's Office. The Door opened and they all stepped inside to see a very old school looking Office. A lot of Old Wooden Bookshelves and even a Stuffed corpse of a Bear that stood frozen in the corner of the Room. At the far end of the Office was a selection of large windows and against it was a Desk. Sitting in its seat wasn't the Mayor, but his Grandson.
"Umm...Hi"
"Howdy Daniel, We want to speak to your Granddad about something, Where is he?"
"Hes umm….At Home, Sleeping, Fast Asleep" He said with a bit of nervousness in his voice. "But I thought you said over the Intercom that he was awake" He asked back seeming to be confused. Daniel sighed before laying back in the chair and whipping off his face.
"Yeaaaah, Super long story short I've been the mayor for about a few weeks now" He claimed.
"B-But you're just 16"
"I know, and it's been absolute torture. After the Doctors noticed he was showing signs of Dementia due to his age, I've been needing to take hold more of duties, and running the County is like…my family tradition"
He explained as he got up and looked out through the large window that faced away from originally sitting in his Grandfather's Chair. "And its going to get even worse with this stupid county race that's going to take place next week, you have no idea how much planning goes it into these things" Daniel pointed to the stacks upon stacks of paperwork that filled the space of the desk.
"Well I don't care who's running this Carnival County, we just need to help with a problem" Skye stepped up facing Daniel. "Anything to get me away from this paperwork, What's your problem?" Daniel asked sitting back down in the Office chair.
"We suspect this Pup to be a victim of Child Abuse, so as of that, We have the Authority to hold onto him until everything is settled, That is until these people came wanting to take him back" Remy explained.
"Mr. Daniel, We're with Paw Patrol from Adventure Bay, We also have a right to SAVE this pup and bring him back home" Skye said which earned a weird look from the Human Deputy. "Not true Mr. Daniel, They're from Adventure Bay, they have no Jurisdiction in the County"
"We do too"
"No you don't"
"Uh huh"
"Nuh uh"
"Uh huh"
"Nuh uh"
Both of them went back and forth at each other until Daniel himself decided to put his own words on the matter…In a louder version. "SHUT UP!" Both ceases their bickering at the Teenager's shout for order. "Look, I don't exactly know the entire law about this, But I do know there is a book that details everything about this case, I don't know where it is though, So I'm going to have to find it."
"That's fine, We can wait" Tracker said already seeming to be patient. "Not so fast, Its in the County Library, and that place is absolutely huge, It would take a whole week to find it. But until then, Im going to lay out some rules for you both"
"Deputy Collins, are you going to be looking after the Pup?"
"Yes Sir"
"Alright, Im allowing you to do that under supervision from another Deputy, Make sure that child is fed, sheltered and away from any sort of Danger, If you break any of those, I will give the pup back to his Original Parents" Daniel said to Remy until pointing to Skye.
"And for you, I don't want any of you going near the pup or making any sort of Physical Contact with him, Phone communication is fine. If you fail at this, Deputy Collins will be given full custody of the pup, And questions?" Daniel asked only for all of them to shake their heads in agreement of the terms.
"Okay Good, I will talk to you all later when I find the book of codes relating to Child Cases so I can properly judge this, have a Good Night to you all, I need to get back to this stupid county race stuff" he said slouching back in his chair looking at the paperwork that layered his desk.
"Well, You guys have a place to stay?"
"No, Not really" Chase said until seeing Elena's face light up with glee. "You guys can absolutely stay at my place; I have enough room for you and your friends" she said. "Um Excuse me, Im more than just his Friend" Valkyrie stepped in pulling Chase away from her a bit.
"Oh, Are you two dating?" She asked.
"Married, actually"
"Oh Congratulations, If I didn't know any better, I'd take him for myself" Elena said which seemed to tick off Valkyrie way too far off the edge in her mind. "Hahaha, Im Joking. Anyways, Its getting late, We should all head out, Night Remy" Elena said walking out the Office with Chase, Valkyrie, Tracker and Skye following. Skye looking back at Canare who was still in Remy's Arms now fast as sleep.
