Whilst everyone seemed to be preoccupied with their own little adventures and tales in the county, It was really on Skye, Tracker and with the help of the 'Mayor' himself to get down what they actually legality of the situation was.
Inside the County Library, Daniel was seen going through books by their cover, one by one, not judging a book by its cover didn't seem to apply right now as the selection of books literally lined the halls, packed to brim, sorted by colour and theme.
"You guys find anything up there?" Daniel asked out, hoping for at least something from the two, but alas "No, we've searched through this entire rack and still nothing" Tracker responded.
"What about the Section of County Penal Codes and Judicial Files?" Daniel asked, "We already looked through that one though" Tracker replied before looking up 20 feet in the to see Skye, using her jetpack reach the books at the top that grazed the ceiling above them.
"Find anything up there Skye?!" Tracker shouted at above only to just receive a non-satisfying answer from the cockapoo instead. "Still Nothing!" was all that said with a shake.
"Ugh…This is going to take forever, This Library is the size of Capital Building" Tracker said as threw himself onto the soft carpet of the library floor, his body wanted to give in, but his mind was as determined as ever.
"Oh Canare, I'm so sorry for the things I've said to you" The Chihuahua said, holding his head up as he contemplated each word, he sent to Canare the last time they spoke, When Canare just asked a simple question of assurance and Tracker spoke the words he wishes he would have never uttered.
"C'mon man, don't beat yourself over it, I'm sure we'll find that book in no time…I think…Hopefully…. I don't know honestly" Daniel said with a shrug.
"Geez, Thanks for lifting my spirits, I feel much motivated now" Tracker replied with an obvious sarcastic Tone in his voice.
"I'm a 16-year-old kid running an entire county, not Shakespeare" he said as continued to shift through one book at a time. Tracker sighed at first before getting back on paws and rubbing his eyes. "I think I just need some fresh air" he said as he walked out the library and into the open air.
Skye watched it all as her husband just left to have a small time of reflection for his own, sensing there was more to it than just a simple burnout in his energy.
"I'm going with him" she said as she flew down to ground level with such precision. "I guess I'll be here, going through all of these …by myself" He stated as he slouched back in his chair seeing in the corner of his eye the cockapoo in pink leaves the building.
As Skye exited out the front door of the library, she was met with Tracker as expecting, sitting on the larger steps of the library made of Concrete and Rebar. "Hey Honey, everything okay?" Skye asked placing a paw on her life partner's back.
"Skye…Are we Good Parents?" Tracker asked as he looked off into the sun's direction. Skye tried to make light of question sensing it was very philosophical. "Of course, we are, look at everything we've given them, it's not our fault, and definitely isn't yours"
"How do you know that though, this would have never happened If I would just have told Canare that I cherished him" Tracker stated, repeatedly beating his paws against the concrete know this would fiasco of an 'adventure' could have been avoided.
"Sweetie, don't beat yourself up over it, it's not going to help whatsoever in helping us fix this." Skye pointed out.
"I get that, I'm just worried that even if he comes back with us back to Adventure Bay, is he going to be happy again?" Tracker questioned which made them contemplated their roles as parents.
"I-I don't know, but Canare must be going through right now, Well help him when we get him back" Skye assured.
"IF we get him back that is" Tracker pointed until suddenly their ears perked up from the sound of Daniel despite hearing him from inside the library whilst Tracker and Skye were outside. "Guys, I found it, I found the book!"
Tracker and Skye raced back into the building like it was an Emergency with a life on the line. Turning into the Large room and seeing Daniel himself showing a large book in his hand, already placing it on the nearby table and beginning to scour it for what they were looking for.
"Amazing Daniel, we'll have this all sorted in no time" Skye commented as she watched Daniel flip from page to page. "Here we go, Page 97, Child Custody" Daniel said as he immediately flipped to the page and made a heart stopping discovery.
The page itself seemed to be ripped out from the book itself, the rough tear that was left from the page was still attached to the book. "W-Where's the page?!" Tracker questioned as he felt a giant let down in his heart.
"I-I don't know, it's gone…. Damn it!" Daniel shut the book in a fit of rage, placing his hands over his eyes in frustration as he paced around the room in a circle. "So, what now?" Tracker asked.
Few miles away out in the more rural parts of County itself, Chase, Elena and Valkyrie had already arrived and settled into Event that was taking place. It was a very large open field with tents and booths already set up with long rows of walkways to tread on.
From Farmers to Small businesspeople that just want to sell what they got to make an honest living. "Cotton Candy, Get some Cotton Candy, just for a Dollar!" A man said holding the fuzzy treats out from his booth at the three Canines walking past him.
"Can you do me a favour and look out for some Gardening tools, I need those" Elena stated as she silently awed at all the decorations.
"Wow, you have a Garden?"
"Kind of, Still in the making though, Not to toot my own horn though, But I say I'm pretty good at it if I do say so myself" Elena said placing a paw over her furry chest and holding her muzzle up high with a smile.
"You know I've been doing my own Garden back at the lookout actually, It's actually just a few seeds here and there, but give it time" Valkyrie said, trying to one up the German Shepherd.
"I thought you hated Gardening though" Chase pointed out before getting intense glare Chase instead. "Oh look, here we go" Elena pointed out suddenly, dashing ahead and stopping at a nearby tent that sold Garden equipment up the inventory.
"Hey Chase, Which ones look better, The Green ones or the Black ones?" Elena asked holding both the shovels. "Why a shovel, you plan on burying a dead body or something?" Chase jokingly said in response.
"Welp you'll never know" Elena joked as well as both the German shepherds threw their heads back in laughter, Valkyrie instead glaring at Elena in reference to the corpse joke Chase had said but mainly to her response.
'Laugh all you want; I'll expose you for who you really are' Valkyrie stated in her mind as both Chase and Elena continued to laugh up a storm until Elena had put the 2 large gardening tools back down and instead picking up a different one with a clear difference from the other ones. "Ooo, Look at this one Chase. Nice, Sturdy, Sharp and a Nice grip handle for when it comes in handy" she said.
Valkyrie gulped as she figured that she wasn't going to use that sharp shovel for Gardening, but rather something more malicious.
"Hey Chase, Let's get something to eat, you know, just you and I like we always do" Valkyrie patted on Chase as she motioned her paw in the other direction of Elena. "Nice Idea Val, Let's see if Elena wants to pitch in though" Chase mentioned, bringing a frown to the Saluki's muzzle.
"Go on ahead you two, I don't want to get in between a couple and their lunch times, I'll meet up with you guys at the Horse track down at the end of the Field" Elena said as she looked back at the man behind the booth, attempting to make a sale. Behind her though, Valkyrie and Chase had already left and where in means of being out of sight.
"Val Sweetie, do you even know where we can get a bite to eat?" Chase asked prompting an honest answer from his wife, and indeed he got one. "Nope, But It'll be easy, it looks like they sell everything here" Valkyrie said.
"By the way, Are you alright by the way?" The German Shepherd asked once more having a bit concern in his tone as he walked side by side with Valkyrie. Valkyrie however looked at Chase with an eyebrow instead of an assuring smile.
"I just like to spend time with you Chase, we never get to do that, it's been a while" She said getting a very confused look from the Police Dog.
"What do you mean, we spend time with each other time before we got here and….Wait, You're not….Jealous of Elena and I hanging out, are you?" He finally brought up the question that would break the silent tension between the three. Valkyrie gritted her teeth as she turned the turned her head the other way.
"I would never, I'm 100 percent happy for you two uniting after all those years" Valkyrie stated, holding her head up to the sun as if she took offense to the accusation of her being Jealous, which by all accounts she knew she was, it was just a tough pill to swallow to admit it.
"Well I'm not believing that, There's no need to be Jealous Sweetie, We're just friends, nothing more and nothing less. If you want, we could schedule a night out tonight." Chase suggested, letting Valkyrie's ears perk up in excitement along with her tail beginning to wag. "Really, just you and I?" She asked.
"Mhm, just you and I" Chase said he threw his paw around Valkyrie and reeled her in for a short kiss on the cheek. Valkyrie smiled as she rubbed the kiss spot on the side of her face with her paw in a savoring way. "However, I do want you to go and start making peace with Elena, I feel like you owe her a good time" Chase said.
"Alright, I'll start today, love you Chase" Valkyrie replied with an assuring smile, signifying there was going to be no more silent drama between the Saluki and the Black German Shepherd. "Love you too, how about you go back and meet up with Elena whilst I go and us some grub"
He said, getting a nod from the Saluki as both started to head in the opposite direction, Valkyrie heading back in the direction they came from, back to Elena.
'Maybe Chase is right about this, Maybe I am just a little bit…. Okay, I'm Jealous of them, But I did see her dumping literally limbs in her backyard though, M-Maybe I was just seeing things, maybe it was just something else…It was dark after all. Maybe I have been judging her too hard recently. It is a bit silly of me to believe she would try and steal Chase away from me. Now that I sound it out in my head, I sound like an absolute buffoon' Valkyrie worded out her internal problems with Elena, step by step in her head as she paced down narrow grassy pathway all the way back to Elena.
"And you're sure this is the right one, Are you positive?" Valkyrie heard the voice of the Female German Shepherd as she slowly approached her from a Distance, it appeared her trying to barter with Salesman about…. something.
"Huh, wonder what she's talking about" Valkyrie whispered to herself until as she slowly paced on before hearing the Salesman's frightening words after.
"This is one that gets rid of blood like you asked, same one that you bought last month too" He said as gripped a small tank of a weird, controlled substance, making Valkyrie stop dead in her tracks and instead move out of the open and slip behind another tent to hear the entire conversation.
"Okay Alright Fine, I want 2 Tanks full, I'm going to need a lot of it"
"Wow, You got a lot of plants that need spraying or something?"
"Y-Yeah, Let's just say I'm going to have to get a lot of cleaning done with this stuff" Elena said as she threw down the money on the table for the Salesman needed to complete the transaction. "Well I don't want to pry into my Customer's business so that's not what I'm gonna do, You want me to help you load this all the way back to the parking lot?"
"No, I-I'm here with some friends and I can't let them see me with this, Just drop off them off later tonight on my porch later tonight, Please" Elena practically begged to the man. The Salesman just shrugged as he reached out his hand on the table of the tent to grab the Bank notes to stuff them into his Jacket.
"Fine, I can drop it off before 10" He claimed, leaving Valkyrie with all too many things on her mind to think about what kind of transaction she had just heard. The Saluki dashed further behind the tent across the Elena as she saw the Female German Shepherd start to stretch and make her way to where she believed Chase and her were going to be.
'Oh, you had me fooled for just a second, but I'm still onto you' Valkyrie exclaimed with a passion in her mind.
