No one ever said being in a position of power was easy, whether you're experienced for years or forced into that position for the betterment of society. Surely one grand example to live on in the history books for the county would be Daniel, Running the whole county in secrecy with the average responsibilities of a teenager being tripled on him alone.

Out in the County, lies a large mass of property, sitting comfortably on rural land surrounded by wheat fields and farm life, but instead of it being a bustling farm, it was quiet as it was dark out, night sky with stars in the open like diamonds.

In the center of the property was the Manor, Old 20th century furniture in all rooms with exception being the kitchen. Upstairs sitting in a private office was Daniel himself, leaning over from the chipped old desk chair he sat in over at the piles of paperwork he took it upon himself to do for his grandfather.

His facial expressions grew frustrated to exhausted from time and time again as each sentence he read he'd seemingly have to Google, know darn well that him signing a document he barely understood can cause a whole mess of problems for the county.

Also in the room was the true mayor of Adventure County, Daniel's Grandfather sitting on an old leather sofa directly to the side, holding a small bowl of porridge in his lap as moment after moment he would dip the spoon on the seemingly night meal to take a spoonful of.

"Did you finish your schoolwork, Tom?" He asked as he turned his head over to the teen sitting at his desk. Daniel looked from the papers as he whipped his face in fatigue. "I'll get to that tomorrow, Papa, lemme finish these papers first, also my name is Daniel not Tom" He corrected slouching back in his chair.

"My bad, my memory isn't what it used to be" he said stirring the small bowl of porridge with his metal spoon. "Ughh Grandpa, why did you sign this?" Daniel held up a single document held the signature of his grandfather that he knew he didn't not sign himself.

"I-I think so, Was I not supposed to sign it?" He asked.

"No Grandpa, I told you if you see a document you don't understand, then wait for me to come back from school to see it" he said as he flipped over the document to read it himself, just to see how bad the damage of that single signed document could cause.

"What the What, why does the Sheriff want to change the reward of the County race to a…. Free Wish, that makes no sense" He said as he continued to read the contents of the document in his mind.

"Why not just revoke it and take it back to the Sheriff?"

"Oh no no no, absolutely not, If the Sheriff sent me a document saying he wants something then I just do it and don't ask questions, you know he gets mad when I question him on something or when one of his documents gets revoked, plus the Sheriff is intimidating as heck" Daniel explained, carefully shoving the document in a drawer of the desk.

"Alright I think this is the last paper for tonight, I can finally go to sleep after this" He stated, signing off the last piece of documentation in front of him as he took the single form and gentling tossing it in the drawer of the desk. Looking over the desk in one final motion before getting up stretching out him back.

Twisting hard right to hard left with his arms as slowly he began to walk past his grandfather out of the office room. "Be sure to be asleep by 10 o'clock tonight, I don't want to hear you play that Call of Duty thing every time I walk past your room" he said, truly a disconnect from modern society.

Daniel hung his head up high to the ceiling as if it was the nagging about how he relieved his own stress got to him time and time again.

Remy sat in his own living room holding a cup of coffee with the kettle having the remaining brew sitting right in front of him, Hearing the crickets and nightbirds buzz and chirp to their hearts content, looking out from the window to see a somewhat clear view of his own porch and the area in front of his house.

Most of the time Remy dreaded long work hours no matter if he thought his presence on the streets at night was making a difference or not, it was the time to really hit the hay and be ready for tomorrow instead of staying up, but for this night, it was different. Turning his gaze from outside and at his wrist instead, looking at the time.

As if it his prayers were answered by an all powerful being in the sky, Valkyrie, The Canine Deputy arrived, her car's headlights illuminated the front porch of Remy's house as she slowly pulled up in front of the rural homestead.

"Finally" Remy said almost with a bit of frustration in his voice as he quickly shot up from the couch and right up to the door, twisting and pulling out the locks for him to pull open the door and see Valkyrie, walking onto the old porch to formally greet Remy.

Valkyrie gave a wide yawn and she rubbed her eye. "Sorry Remy, I had to do a bunch of stuff for the Sheriff back at the station, I really need to get home and rest, what is it you needed to talk to me for?" She asked.

"I know its late, but I just really need to confess something, it's been bugging me ever since I did it" Remy confessed to some sort of deed, but it remained unclear. Valkyrie been concerned as the tired and exhausted expression on her face simply went way as if it were the snap of finger in the change of feeling.

"What do you mean, what did you do?" The German Shepherd quizzed him on, walking past the Off Duty Deputy to lead him over to the Couch for a better conversation. His attitude turned from being nervous and anxious before Valkyrie even arrived to being on the verge of a mental breakdown, digging himself into a whole where he knew he had to confess.

Confess to something he was never proud of, not even as he did it. "Remy, what did you do, Whatever it is I wont judge you for it" Valkyrie placed a paw on Remy's back as she handed him the cup of coffee that Remy had left on the table in front of him.

Unbeknownst to both, A pup a top the staircase stood in silence as he eavesdropped the conversation between the two friends. Canare obviously had a mother and father that taught him listening on such juicy conversations were wrong, but pup's curious nature made him bend his morals just a little bit for this one time.

"I-I-I did it, it was me" Remy said, hanging his head low into down to the group as he clenched the cup of coffee given to him. "Ummm, Buddy I'm gonna need a bit more context about-"Valkyrie asked for more clarification until she got it right after.

"The Library, It was me"

"W-What did you do at the Library"

"The night Canare's Parents came to the County to get him back, after we all separate after seeing the mayor's son talk to us in his Office. I knew the law wasn't in my favour at the very beginning, so that same night, I lockpicked the front door of the Library and searched for the book, When I found it, I ripped the page out and took it with me" He said, refusing to lift his head up to face the German Shepherd.

"I-I can't believe it, out of all the people that may have done such a thing, you were at the bottom of my list. Remy, please tell me this is some joke, because it's going a little too far" Elena asked the of the mentally fallen deputy.

"Im not joking Elena, I can't get over the fact that every time I go to sleep and every time I think of that pup, that night just keeps popping into my head. It's wearing me out Elena, I just can't take it anymore, I had to come clean to someone I know I could trust"

"But why, why'd you do it?" Elena asked, so confused as to the motive was and drive to make Remy do such a thing. "I didn't want Canare to leave, He's the only one I have left, he fills that hole in my heart that I thought would never happen again. Sometimes, I feel like he's literally the only thing holding me back from ending my own life"

Elena now faced with the hard reality of the Scenario that was just told to her, was taken back so much that she fell back into the cushions of the sofa, leaving her head up facing the ceiling as if she had no other words, just a silent reaction to such a deep problem.

"Remy, Do you still have it?" Elena asked, getting small glance from him in response only for him to sigh and motion his hand underneath the couch itself. Remy reached under the couch and felt around for a few seconds before pulling out the sheet of text.

Handing it over to Elena as she could clearly see the tear marks on the end of the paper, indicating it was in fact ripped from the book of laws found in the County Library, letting her eyes scan the text to see the law written clearly, in Skye and Tracker's favour all this time.

"Remy, I respect that you told me about this but, I don't know how to help you, I only know to do what's right, and that's slapping cuffs on you and taking you down the Sheriff himself" She said, Remy rubbed his arm in anxiety, of course he didn't want to spend any time behind bars, no one does. However, him being a lawman himself, putting away people that violated the law for a living. He knew that if he was in Elena's shoes, he'd probably insist on doing the same thing.

Elena noticed how Remy started to separate his arms and motioned them in front of himself, giving the clear indication that if arresting him for what he did was the only reasonable response, he wouldn't fight it at all. Elena reached around her canine vest to pull a pair of handcuffs, the sound of metal clinking together made Remy's fate be sealed in his mind, but it put a special kind of fear in the pup sitting above the stairs, watching the whole ordeal.

"Im sorry buddy, I'll help you plead down any charges in court when it comes around but, you know I have a job to do" Elena said as she positioned the handcuffs in front of Remy's wrists until Canare, didn't feel like being silent anymore. "Wait!" He shouted.

Both Remy and Elena looked to the Stairs to see Canare running down the steps like lightning, running over to couch and position himself right in between Remy and Elena as if to prevent the formal arrest. Of course, the height difference played a part in this as both Elena and Remy towered over Canare, making Canare's body blockade more than useless.

"You can't arrest him; he didn't do anything wrong he was just trying to look after me, give him a second chance"

"Canare Im sorry, I believe he should get a second chance too, he's my friend too, but I need to do what I need to do" Elena said, lowering the cuffs as she seemingly tried to negotiate with the pup.

"Well you're gonna have to arrest me too"

"Canare, Im not doing that"

"Canare, just go back upstairs, I know what I did, and I need to face the consequences, whether it was to keep you closer or not" Remy said, picking up Canare and holding him letting the pup face him directly.

"But I don't wanna see you go" Canare said, on the verge of tears, seeing the pup on the brink of cry, made Remy almost cry as well, but trying to fight it back as best as he could.

"I know, but you have to go back home with your family, back to Adventure Bay, This whole thing with me taking you should have never have happened" He proclaimed. "B-But What about your son?" Canare asked, asking such a question made and Remy and even Elena gasp.

"W-What do you mean?"

"You lost your son a long time ago, and people said you were really sad after you lost him, I don't wanna leave you alone, I wanna help you be happy again" Canare said as one by one, each tear rolled down his face, making Remy smile at such a heartwarming deed, bring the pup in for a tight hug. The embrace of both to each other gave Remy more hope for the future and a more positive look on how he viewed Canare as not just something to fill his heart, but a pup that wanted to let him know that he was there for him.

As both separated, Canare looked behind him still in Remy's arms to see Elena, still standing there. "That was….that was so beautiful" She said, whipping a tear from her eye. "Are you still going to arrest him?" Canare asked, holding Remy a bit tighter.

Elena looked down at her paw to see the Handcuffs, still being grasped, moving her graze back to the two, now with an even bigger decision to make.
