Driving down the County Road at night, Elena averted her eyes away from the road for a second to look to side out the window, seeing no other cars on the road driving past her or even behind her as she peaked her rear-view mirror. Looking at her dashboard mirror to look back at the backseat of her patrol car, separating the passenger seat from back was a cage as all Law Enforcement Vehicles have.

Elena sighed as she steered with one paw, placing the other paw over her chest feeling her heartbeat, it was going nuts. Never in her life had she turned down the option to arrest someone even as that person fully admitted what they did was wrong and a total violation of the law. The Black German Shepherd turned her head back to the road just as she felt a slight buzz on her vest, reaching and pulling out her cell phone, gazing at the home screen to see a message from Remy.

'Hey Elena, I just want to thank you again for giving me a second chance, I really owe you this time. So grateful to have a friend like you to work with, Canare also says thank you too as well' The message displayed, Elena wanted to smile, she really did at the thought of it all knowing she may have done the right thing. However, she just starred at the screen before sticking back in her vest.

Within a few moments being on the homestretch back to her Property, Turning her patrol car right In front of her house. Letting the headlights of the vehicle illuminate the front porch of her house, seeing lights on inside to give her the reminder that at least she wasn't alone.

Elena pulled the keys from ignition as she sighed and rested her canine head on the steering wheel. "What am I doing? She asked herself in a contemplating manner, just as her vest vibrated again, displaying another message.

'Hi Elena, this is Canare btw, thank you for not arresting Remy, can you tell my mommy and daddy that I miss them too please?' the pup texted, giving Elena a small smile at the thought that he still does care about his biological mother and father.

Walking onto her own porch and fiddling with the metallic jingle of her keys, using the light from inside the house and the moon light that illuminated behind her to try and find the right one. As she succeeded however, it proved her efforts didn't make much of a difference as when she put her key into the door, the door had suddenly swung open with Skye on the other side with a smirk.

"Beat you to it" Skye jokingly said, only getting a forced grin from the German Shepherd as she scratch that bag of her vest, already loosening the straps as she might as well, carrying all that gear would surely way anyone down eventually.

Skye seemed a bit concerned after looking at the German Shepherd, firstly seeing the Depressed look on her face before forcing herself to give a smile. The cockapoo tilted her head in response as Elena tried to walk past her before Skye pressed her paw against her chest. "You alright?" Skye asked.

"Yeah, I'm just tired, long day" Elena said as he used her paw to nudge Skye's paw off from her, Walking right past Skye. "Something happened?" Skye asked as Elena flopped down onto the sofa instead of making her way all the way up the stairs and up to her room to proper sleep off the night.

"No, I just said I'm just tired" she said as she laid her chest down against the sofa and her chin stuck to the cushions. Skye huffed with an attitude as she hoped over the back of sofa and right next to Elena whose body rocked as the cockapoo landed on the comfortable cushioning.

Silence rocked the room as Skye just stared down at Elena as if she had done something wrong. "What?" Elena asked, seemingly getting agitated. "Just tell me the truth, What's wrong?" Skye asked as she stroked the fur of Elena as if she were her child that needed a talking to.

"Nothing I'm 100% fine, why are you worry about me, go and bug your husband or something" Elena said as she grabbed a nearby pillow and shoved it into her face, refusing to even look at the Cockapoo for even a second. Skye on the other hand, didn't take too kindly to that comment that felt like a backhanded insult than a suggestion to leave Elena be.

"Elena, I have a thing for detection when someone is wrong when they say they're fine, I have a teenager daughter" Skye said as she patted her paws against the German Shepherd's ears that were not covered by the pillow the Elena had used to shield herself.

"Im fine Skye, Im going upstairs to chat with Chase then head to bed" Elena said punting the sofa cushion across the room as she shot up from the furniture, making her way around the living room until being stopped by Skye's words.

"Oh Chase isn't here, he left with Valkyrie not too long ago" The cockapoo said as she hung over the side of the couch at the Black furred German shepherd. "W-Why?" Elena said, now knowing that the closest friend that she hopped to chat with was no longer in the residence.

"They went to go and do fun stuff together I guess, Why, did you need to talk with him, If so you can talk with me instead" Skye said, but also asking as well as Elena just seemed to shrug it off as he slowly made her way to the stairs instead of engaging with a chat.

"Thanks but no thanks, I'll just sleep it off, Go and chat with your husband if you want someone to talk to" She said, even though she didn't see it, Skye had an nervous and awkward look on her face. "I-I kinda don't feel like that's an option right now" Skye said, rubbed the back of her head.

"Why not?" Elena stopped as she turned around and looked back at the cockapoo, perplexed at the answer she had given to her. "Tracker and I got into a little bit of an argument earlier before you arrived, He's upstairs" Skye stated as she observed Elena turning back around to her.

"You two still like…you know, like each other though" Elena asked, turning into the kitchen and toward the fridge. "Yeah, I think it was just kind of a spur of the moment thing" Skye replied as she hoped off the couch and over to the counter that divided the living room from the kitchen.

"What were you two arguing about?" The German Shepherd asked, digging through the doors of the refrigerator for something as Skye on the other side of the room tapped the cold hard marble countertop, already feeling the uncomfortable vibe of the conversation.

"About who really made Canare runaway" she said as she saw Elena turned back to her, very concerned at the new look on the cockapoo's face, looking quite disturbed and ashamed. "You weren't blaming yourself though, right?" Elena asked as she grabbed two soft drinks from the fridge, walking over to one side of the counter and sliding one of the drinks right over to her with just enough force to lightly tap her fur.

Skye looked at the drink before looking at Elena, seeing the German shepherd's offer of drink try and reassure she that she was there to listen.

"A little bit, It just went back and forth between Tracker and I of us blaming ourselves, before we knew it we were blaming each other" Skye said as Elena took a seat right next to her. "The worst part about it is that sometimes I feel like everything that Tracker and I said, was right, if it was his fault, then I'm as guilty as he is" She said.

"I cant really say much when it comes to how this whole thing started, but what I can say is that everything you did is trumped by everything you're doing now, bad parents don't feel guilty about hurting their kids or driving them to running away, what you're showing me is rock hard proof that you really do care about Canare" Elena said raising her drink to lightly tap Skye's.

"I know that in time, when you get Canare back, you'll never let him go, and that's real love" She said turning her drink upside down to her mouth, downing the small can as Skye smiled at the beverage in her paws. "I know I love him, but how do I know he really loves me back?" She asked.

"Oh trust me, He misses you. He said it himself, I saw him earlier tonight"

"Really, how is he?"

"Oh he's fine, doing really well, but I know he'd be better if he was with his real mom and dad, just promise me you'll actually care for him this time"

"Absolutely, Also I know you probably forgot about this, but sorry for yelling at you when I first saw you back at the police station few days ago" Skye expressed.

"It's a Sheriff's Department"

"Whatever, I was just really-" Skye tried to explain away her past sorrows before being cut off by the German Shepherd. "Its okay Skye, I could understand your frustration back then, I'd get in the face of anyone if they tried to stop me from being with my pup" She said.

"If I took everything personally if they were shouted in face, I'd been sitting in a jail cell with a straight jacket on"

Elena nudged the cockapoo in a joking way as they both sipped their Drinks and threw their heads back in laughter as time past and their banter shifted from issues to just jokes and stories.

"Oh by the way, Some guy dropped over a small tank of something a few hours ago" Skye said as she sipped the drink that was given to her. Elena on the other hand almost spit out heres but trying so hard to keep her cool. "You uhh, Didnt read anything on the it, did you?" Elena asked with a nervous shaking, it surely calmed she nerves more when Skye shook her head in response.

"Nope, I just put it behind the house, It had a really bad smell, It was stinking up the front porch really bad" She said as Elena leaned her head to look over at the backdoor through the kitchen. "Oh thanks, Its just some...stuff, for bugs" Elena timidly said.

"Okay...Well must be nice living out here, I've been outside Adventure Bay few times I've never experienced a place like this" Skye said.

"Yeah, Getting used to it is really easy, the people of the county are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet" Elena replied as she took a swing of her drink.

"Getting used to, you weren't born here?" The cockapoo asked, getting a piece of information that was quite unusual for her.

"Nope, Born and Raised in the Big city far away from here, been so long since I've been back there, Adventure City" She said.

"Adventure City huh, I never would have guess, you just seem so…you know…country, no offense" Skye said with her paws lofted in a surrendering motion, not wanting to make it seem like a backhanded insult the German shepherd.

"Oh no offense taken, being in the city is just so obnoxious and bland compared to being out , applying to the Sheriff's Department was honestly the best move I've ever made" she proclaimed with absolutely certainty

"Yup, and that's how I met Chase" Elena said with a smile, catching Skye off guard. "Oh right, you have to tell me everything now, every single detail" Skye asked with an excited wag in her tail for a deeper depth into her and Chase. "I remember it perfectly, every event to every detail, it was after I applied to the Sheriff's Department whilst getting my Training in the Academy"
