If They Only Knew...
She sits by the window, gazing and breathing the fresh air that was denied her for so long in Azkaban. Rodulphus and she are hiding out from Aurors, the Ministry of Magic, and the rest of the little do-gooders who are trying to stop the Dark Lord's attempts to take over the wizarding world. She sneers as that thought enters her head. The Dark Lord is too powerful and they are all too week. She laughs as she remembers the expression on that little Potter boy's face after she defeated her cousin, and Potter's godfather, Sirius Black. The Dark Lord was disappointed in her for not being able t o retrieve the prophecy before it was destroyed, but that was over and dealt with. She laughs again as she remembers Neville Longbottom, attempting to fight her and her fellow Death Eaters. And the expression on his face when she had told him she had had the pleasure of meeting his parents! Oh, she could understand how much the Longbottom boy hated her, but that did not bother her one bit. Frank and Alice Longbottom had deserved what they got, especially Frank. Bellatrix though she had met the love of her life when she was in her sixth year at Hogwarts. Frank Longbottom was handsome, popular, and good at everything. It was against everything she was told, everything she was brought up to believe, but she was madly in love with him. She had suffered ridicule from her friends and family, but she didn't care. Frank had treated her well. She had a good time with him,. Something about him had sparked a desire to be...good.
Then Alice came along. Frank and Alice started working on a Defense Against the Dark Arts project together. She had made him realize, or so he said, that he and Bellatrix were just not meant to be together. They were just too different. How heartbroken she had been. Rodolphus was, and alwas had been, just a little lap dog. Her heard had never really belonged to him. Hell, he would never have joined the Death Eaters if she hadn't convinced him to. But it was nice to have someone obeying your every commands. The Dark Lord had taught her that there was no good or evil. There was only power, and those too weak to seek it. Without her, Rodulphus would definately have been too weak to seek it. The Dark Lord had also taught her that there was a fine line between love and hate...and hatred was exactly what her feelings for Frank turned to. When the Dark Lord disappeared after his downfall, it had given her immense pleasure to torture the Longbottoms, who were Aurors, for information on his whereabouts. Oh, she knew they did not know what had happened to the Dark Lord, but she didn't care. The look in Frank's eyes as she repeatedly screamed, "Crucio!" at them was one of the highlights of her life. He had hurt her very badly. She was just returning the pain. Ah, revenge was certainly very sweet. And so she had gone to Azkaban for torturing them into insanity. It was worth it. She was now reunited with her Master again and he was getting stronger and more powerful each day. "I wonder what little baby Neville will think of my story," she mused, with a smirk and devilish glint in her eyes. "Perhaps I'll reveal my little secret to him one day...then send him to be with his parents for life." Ah, if they only knew...
